R, If I had a preference for where I wanted food put, it would be a toss up between the floor and the wall - I hate cleaning upholstery LOL. Alister was cruising furniture from 7ish mths and he started taking steps about 3wks ago and he is 10mths today. he is exactly the same as the girls - they were walking at this age too. The pirate ship sounds great! He will love it when he is a bit bigger.
Leanne, I can totally sympathise with being hormonally irrational ;) I have been like that this week too LOL.
Noni, so glad you got something more suitable for Asha's bottom. YAY for her saying Mum too - melts your heart doesn't it? She is a lucky girl to have her Nan spoil her.
My fingers are really cold so it is hard to type LOL. I put another order in with Gymboree last night and when I put the first order in I got some 'gymbucks' to spend when I put my next order in and I got $50 off the order!!! So my order looks a lot more respectable on the CC statement now LMAO. Most of it was on hair accessories for the girls! But I did get some for my niece too.
I am starting to look forward to school going back now - the kids have just started niggling at each other today and generally driving me mental LOL.
-
Hi Girls! sorry this is a bit of a wee vent here!
I have been MIA for a little bit what with travel and sickness...yup, it would appear that i am allergic to wollongong! LOL!!
I have been feeling pretty crappy since monday night with 40C fever and aching bones and sore throat, put it all down to the flu, but then started (Sorry for TMI...) throwing up all over the place. i managed to convince DH to ring the GP (yep, my sweet husband wanted to be convinced that i was in fact sick enough to call!! gggrrrr....if it was him we would have been there days ago). so it turns out (as the dr said) that i have severe tonsilitis. not impressed and am feeling very very sorry for myself! i also hate that i am on all this penacilin and panadol. but thems the breaks!
so needless to say DH is feeling very meek today and has been waiting on me hand and foot. and all i can say is thank goodness for kindy! leila has spent yesterday and today there so has given me some time to recover. and luckily its not contagious (yay for small things).
Rainy: like leanne i too had to stifle a giggle at the vegemite fiasco! at this stage leila seems to only smear it all over her face and our arms. but i guess the furniture will soon be suffering the same demise LOL!
Noni: i hope Asha's rash clears soon. it can be so painful for the litte tikes! and yeah, i find when i want to clear it fast, i put her in sposies for a few days. but i keep changing them just as often as i would change the cloth. PIA though! (and costs a bomb!)
Congrats on scoring well at shopping!! aahhh the joys of mums! arrghh although it will be us before we know it!
I always try to imagine what leila will look like as an adult leading her own life, it's still a bizarre concept on some level, yet, so very normal IYKWIM??
Pregpan: welcome to the club of clutter! i constantly feel as though our house in the process of being either moved into or moved out of what with all the stuff around...egad. will it ever end??? i was watching Oprah yesterday and this woman had won some home styling comp and her house was IMPECCABLE AND she had a 3 week old baby!! her hair was done, makeup applied....awwww why cant that be ME?
and big  your way sista! sounds like it's pretty hectic there ATM. try not to stress too much about him going to melb. i found with leila she was pretty much the same as at home. she knows her kinderkot and knows that it means bed time. i sing the same songs and put her in the same sleep suit. Also, a little tip that might help FWIW is that i rip off the sheets off her cot that she has been using during the week and take that on the trip to use in the kinderkot so that it smells like home...
Arte: IKWYM about the monthly pay. DH is on that too. it is tricky trying to balance it all out for that amount of time. wish we were paid fortnightly at least! then, if you blow the budget, like say, on a speeding fine (like DH did on the way to canberra this week...$227!!!) at least there is only a week or two max to wait before the next cheque rolls in.
Sherie: OMG i just read back a bit and A is walking!! wowser what a huge milestone! i bet he is proud as punch with himself!! he he he!
anyway, i know i probably missed loads, but i feel the fever returning with a vengence and i have to pick L up from kindy...
BBL!
:)
-
Oh, Clare you poor thing - hope you are feeling better today. How was Wollongong apart from the sickness? I bet L would have a great time chasing the ducks around all the ponds on campus.
Noni - hope A's little bottom clears up soon, poor little thing with it bleeding!!
MD - Happy anniversary for a few days ago!!
Pregpan - I have decided to keep a little notebook by the computer to jot down all your recipes, at the moment they are on post its floating around the study! That salmon patty recipe sounds great. I am trying to get K onto more family foods, but we have had a week of things that aren't suitable and my freezer stocks are running low so I need to stock up!
Rainy - oh dear, vegemite all over the couch! I haven't been brave to do anything except rusk on the floor so far, but I'm sure i will have to soon.
Arte - I used to have monthly pay and it was awful - so hard to budget. My last job was fortnightly, but different fortnights to DH so that was good because it was payday every week!
Trillian - wow a walker!! so exciting!
Hello to everyone else!!
Only one more day before DH has to go back to work - we have had a good break though. Went out for lunch on Thurs and left K with her nan so that was good to have some 'alone time'. Ended up talking about K most of the time, but that's all right. He's coming around to my idea of getting a bigger fridge too, I pushed about how much easier it would be if I could cook up heaps more and stock up as it would create less washing up (his job). K has a cold at the moment and a yucky cough. Took her to the doctor yesterday and she has a little bit of redness in one of her ears so she gave us some antibiotics in case it gets worse and starts hurting. Had an early start a few days ago at 4:50 where we ended up snuggling on the couch but the last two nights she went through to 7 and 6:30. It was kind of nice her sleeping on me on the couch though as she hasn't done that for ages.
We had a great time in Canberra last week and it was good catching up with all the other ladies and bubs. Was very busy though so this week has been more relaxing. Waiting to see what happens to the car though, last week was a flat tyre, this week completely dead battery, what could be next? Fingers crossed it happens while DH is with us.
Better go and do a bit of a tidy up before DD wakes and we go for a walk.
-
What a very quiet day - everyone must have been out having fun with their families!!
We had a lovely walk this morning and DH has spent most of the day making up for going back to work soon so I've had lots of 'me time' which is good.
-
hi cally!
i'm here.
dp has just gone up the road to get chinese takeaway so i've jumped on here quickly.
i've been reading 'no cry sleep solutions' and i've been trying to implement some of the strategies in there but i don't think now is a good time as lewis is still sick. i might wait till next week to give it a full on shot.
nice that you got to have a bit of 'me' time and a nice walk. i'll bet you'll miss having dh at home...
-
Hello gorgeous girls,
I hope your all having a great weekend. DH and I left L with a friend and went and saw The Dark Knight this morning, we splurged and went gold class to oohh la la la. It was great but I couldn't relax properly as I kept thinking about L. It was a great movie though.
Clare how are you feeling now? I hope your DH has been looking after you.
Cally lucky you having some "me" time. I hope K is better soon. It seems this winter has been terrible for lots of bubs, touch wood L hasn't come down with anything yet.
Rainy how is the ms going? When is your OB appointment again? I love the pics of Lewis on FB he is starting to look like such a little boy now.
I think I might go and have a bath, I have lived in this house for 2 years and not had a bath, how sad is that.
-
Hi Girls,
Katie-Glad you had a great time with DH at the movies. I know what you mean about not being able to relax cause your thinking about your bubba I do the same thing.
Rainy- Yummy Chinese enjoy
Cally- Bummer on DH going back to work
We are all good. Did some much needed housework today. DH helped.
Sweet Dreams
-
Hello all, been MIA for a few days, been so busy organising tax paperwork, spring cleaning the house, shopping etc etc.
I'm a bit sad at the moment actually. I just jumped on BB and read an incredibly sad story about one of our fellow members who not only lost one baby at 36 odd weeks but has now cruely lost her second baby. I'm sure a few of you have come across her story by now. Just feeling very down at the moment after reading this and feeling like I need to express myself iykwim. How can life be so cruel? One baby is bad enough but two? How does someone ever get over such a thing? Sorry I just had to get that out.
Katie - I am the same with the bath, the only one who uses it is Maddie.
Clare - Tonsilitis, you poor thing. That is a terrible thing to get. I hope the antibiotics clear it up quickly for you.
Rainforest - Good luck with the new sleeping tricks. Good idea waiting till he is better to try them out. Lucky you getting chinese takeaway yumo. Have to admit I also had a little laugh at Lewis & the vegemite incident!
Cally - Hope thats it for the car! Its good that you caught the ear redness early, not nice when it turns into a full blown earache. You will probably find that the antibiotics will help with her cold a bit too, well at least I noticed it helped clear up Maddies cough.
MD - Hope you are holding up well with DH being gone now. Congrats for your wedding anniversary for the other day as well, 16 years is a great achievement. Thanks for your advice re the biting, I will mention it to them this week as the mark is still very clear and I know these things happen but I dont want it to happen again, if we can avoid it.
Trillian - Well I so hear you on the sippy cup prices, I got a tomme tippy one and it cost $17.00. It is truely ridiculous, can you imagine paying that much for an adult coffee cup iykwim.
Leemar - Of course you arent doing anything wrong, you are a supermum! Anyone who has twins...wow I take my hat off to you big time girlfriend! You have had a bit of bad luck lately between Jordy's little prob, Xavier's ears and just general illnesses. I hope they will pass for you soon.
Pregpan - You must be so organised. I'd love to see your house, it must be spotless with everything labelled! hehe just kidding. YUMO we are so making those patties tomorrow. I dont have any salmon in the pantry though but I guess we could try tuna instead? I lost your thai pattie recipe so I got one off a website and made them up during the week. M loved them too. Also I made something similar to your patties during the week as well, tuna ones but they had grated zucchini, carrot & potato but I must admit they werent that nice. Didnt stop M though!!! Hey great to know we can freeze these patties of yours too. Do you have any other ideas for lunches? I get stuck on lunch food and usually end up giving her yoghurt. I worry that I give her too much yoghurt & not enough fruit, M hates fruit purees even when mixed with yoghurt. What does N have for lunch? N wont be far away with the crawling, my theory is they tend to focus on one thing at a time, at least thats what I've noticed with M. Glad your overnight stay went well, I cant believe how organised you are with juggling work & Noah & the effort you put into his cooking!!
Arte - lol $4 at the petrol station had to have a giggle at that one. Oh well you gotta do what you've gotta do!!
How much are everyone's bubs eating now? I worry about over feeding M. She has 3 meals a day, normal sized portions. Thats fine right? I especially worry about her love of yoghurt, is it bad to have it every day lol? Am I being paranoid again!!?
-
Hi there everyone
Have been busy doing i don't know what!!!
mm- i haven't read the bb members story, but that is so sad. Life just isn't fair sometimes is it. I often avoid reading certain posts, because i know they will upset me. It's why i don't read the newspapers or watch the news anymore either. :(
re food - hannah has 3 meals a day and a couple of snacks. For lunch i give her the same kind of things that i'd give her for dinner. Or sometimes i just cut up some cheese, and fruit and some vegemite sandwiches and give that to her. Have you tried giving M some of the diced fruit that you buy in tubs? Hannah is loving those at the moment too.
Katie - hope you got to enjoy your bath. I've got in ours a couple of times - but i get suctioned to the back of the bath and can't get out:cryinglaugh: (i chose a crying laugh, because it's actually true and not a pretty sight i'm sure lol)
Rainy - hope you enjoyed your Chinese take away - yummo. When is Lewis going to be in the spotlight catalogue?
Leanne - All 3 slept through???!! that's fantastic!! Yay for dh helping you do the cleaning.
Cally - hope the car starts behaving for you. Were you going to buy K the trike for her birthday or Christmas? You may already know this, but with the target sale, you can order the smart trike before the sale starts. It goes straight onto layby, but isn't availabe until the end of September. (that's for Brisbane anyway) I bet your dh isn't looking forward to leaving you both to go back to work.
Clare - you poor thing. You sound so sick. I hope you get better real fast.
I saw a bit of that Oprah show. I can remember when H was 3 weeks , she was sleeping most of the day. Maybe when that lady's bub starts having a bit more awake time, her house won't be looking quite so flash!! If Oprah's camera crew made a suprise visit here, i would have to tell them to come back another day thankyou very much!! lol.
pregpan - i'll have to give those patties a go. that was great that dh handled your overnighter so well. I guess it gave him a good confidence boost.
md - how are you coping so far. I've been thinking about you and hoping you're ok. I can recall doing the count down last year. We'll help you through it  I'm so glad to hear that you made contact with Queenie. I'm happy that everything is going well for her.
hi to all of you other lovelies
I haven't been doing the comforted crying with Hannah. She had a cold for a few days and kept waking up upset, so i've been sleeping in her bed with her. It means i get a better sleep. Oh well, if that's the worse thing that i have to put up with at the moment - then i think i'm pretty lucky.
She has started saying ' ta' when she gives something to someone. And if i pretend to cry when she pinches me, she puts her head on my shoulder and gives me a cuddle. It's soo cute. She also knows that when she reaches the stairs down to our bedroom, she has to turn around and go down backwards. Sometimes she turns around too soon and has to do the backwards shuffle for ages!!!
anyway, might head off to bed - although the chocolate i ate not so long ago is probably going to keep me awake.
talk to you all soon. sweet dreams
-
oh gosh i am not keeping up again haha..
ashas having mini wheets this morning so much less mess than weet bix hahaha shes lovin it too!!!
oh it was so horrible yesterday i was at netball and an announcement came over the speakers for a number plate of a car and the message was "please return to your car you have locked your child in the car and he is crying" poor thing i couldnt concentrate for the rest of the game thats just so awful! hope they called the police as well!!
mm asha eats 3 meals a day with snacks in between lol i wouldnt worry about it if she wasnt hungry she wouldnt eat it :)
sorry for the short one dp has soccer this morning and i have to go and wake him up and get ash ready hehe
hope everyone is having a great weekend!!
-
Noni - Thats shocking how can someone do that? I would never think to leave a child in the car. You wonder about some people & their thinking!
Jazmum - Thats so cute about H doing the backwards shuffle too early, can just picture it!
Lol so if anything I could be under feeding Maddie, as she doesnt have snacks! I'm such a worry wort, thanks girls I'll keep doing what I'm doing, with some snacks in between hehe.
-
Hey everyone!
Noni, I leave the kids in the car sometimesnow that they are older, but never in summer and I do have the luxury of living in a small country town where you can leave your car unlocked and not have anything pinched, but only for small things like paying for fuel, or ducking into the corner shop for a bottle of milk type thing - never anywhere that I am totally out of sight of them. I wouldn't do it if I lived anywhere else.
H, IKWYM about it all. I know a woman IRL who had her first baby just after I had Lindsay and she has since gone on to lose a little girl at 20wks due to trisomy and had a stillborn term baby boy 12mths later. it is cruel beyond words.
With the baby food, Alister would have about 1-1.5 metric cups of food in a sitting for both breakfast and lunch. Although I did give him some veges for lunch yesterday for the first time in ages and we had an absolute **** night with him and his poo this morning was awful. So veges just seem to upset his tummy too much. So his diet consists of porridge and fruit - either puree in the porridge, or finger sized pieces for him to eat. he can handle eating a tiny amount of veges off our plates, like a few peas or a piece of carrot, but obviously not in large amounts. And really didn't want him to have a bad night because I have a bacterial infection from a tiny split in the skin behind my ear and the entire right side of my face is swollen, red and hot to touch. I look like The Elephant Man's lovechild. And I don't have a right ear anymore - just a swollen mass of flesh, it's grotesque to look at. It isn't all that painful, just uncomfortable. Normal panadol is getting me through, plus I have some abs to take as well. But I think the Dr is dubious that one course will get rid of it because he gave me a repeat. It got sore on Friday night and come yesterday morning it was a little swollen and really painful, so with DH being at work I had to leave the kids with MIL and go to the ED. Luckily I was in and out in 1/2hr and come lunchtime I felt like ****! I was headachey, hot and shivery, so I felt really cold at the same time so the infection really took off at that point. The swelling hasn't subsided at all though, so not sure how long that will take to settle.
-
Holly crap Trillian, that sounds terrible! I did have a chuckle at being the elephant man's love child, but i am feeling sorry for you. ;)
My mum bought Lu this awsome tricycle for her first birthday. It is called a 'radio flyer' it's fire engine red, a bit old school, very cool. i figure it might be 6 months before she can ride it, but it'll be worth the wait!
Stayed at mum's on Sat night. DH had put a cot together there that i picked up second hand. Apparently my bush carpenter husband is lacking in a few carpentry skills. 2.30 am Sat Lu rolled in to the cot side that goes up and down, the poles fell out and the side swung open and she fell onto the ground! Luckily it was all a bit slow mo. and she was fine, but scared the beegeezers out of me!
Sorry, running a bit short on time, and feeling a little blergh today. BBL. :hello: all
-
Oh I saw one of those in the toyshop the other day! They are awesome aren't they? They had another one that was a bit bigger, but had a trailer behind it. LMAO at your Dh's bush carpentry skills, luckly Lu was OK.
-
Ange - lol at Lu rolling over and sliding out of bed! Poor little thing, hope she went back to sleep without too much trouble!
Trillian - oh, that sounds like a bad infection hope it clears up soon.
MM - for lunch today K had little cubes of roast vegies that I had cooked last night. She often has sandwiches with vegemite or cream cheese on them or even some avocado. I try and give her a bit of fruit too, although it's hard in wintertime. I don't do snacks yet, she is still having 5 bfeeds a day, I figure I'll introduce them when she starts dropping the occasional feed or closer to when I have to go back to work.
Jazmum - We're planning on giving K the smart trike for birthday. Hopefully we can get it before the end of September though, will have to investigate further. Not impressed if we can't!
MD - how are you going with DH away now?
-
Hi Girls,
Wow! Sherie! that sounds really intense! and yes i too had to stifle a wee giggle about the lovechild comment!! he he he...
Noni: great idea on the mini wheats! LOL! might have to steal that idea.
Ange: ohhhh I saw that one in the shops!! it looks soo funky. DH wants to buy it, but yeah, like you said they are a few months away from being able to use it...maybe for chrissy...
oh gosh, i have to go!! but soo much to write!! arrghhh a conundrum! oh well i guess i can come back later.
still feeling crook. but at least i was able to leave the house today. bit worried though as DH will be away for 2 days from tomorrow. hope i get better overnight! LOL!
-
hello girls
just sitting back watching big brother and cruising bb. nice!
well i've been feeling like crap all week because as you all know lewis caught something from mothers group last friday and basically hasn't slept for more than 2 hours in a row since then. i'm absolutely exhausted:(
then i just read the same thread that you were talking about hayley and everything just seemed to become ok iykwim? who cares if he doesn't sleep very well atm?? i'll get through this.
jaz- you're in charge of looking out for the spotlight catalogue! you're the best at it :D they told me it was coming out mid july so hopefully soon!
sherie- so sorry to hear you have turned into an elephant overnight ;) you poor poor thing. it sounds horrible
ange- how is your ms? mine is absolutely shocking. i am so much worse this time around.
katie- ob appointment this friday. i looked at your pics on fb too and i reckon logan is looking like a real little man too!
-
My ear is getting better, the swelling is starting to go down a little so I can bend down now without feeling like my head is going to explode from the pressure of it.
G, you poor love, you're not having the easiest time of late. Your ms probably feels worse because you aren't getting enough sleep and are just generally run down because of L being sick too. I found it really hard when pg with Alister and had the worst ms I ever had because I was running around after the other kids and just not getting to refill the sleep tank as often as I could when I was pg with the other kids.
Clare, I hope you are feeling better soon too. You will be surprised at how much more advanced they will all be in the time between their birthday and Christmas.
Cally, Yummo at the roast veges. I am craving a roast, but I can't trust the oven not to stop working while it cooks. So i'm not game to cook one.
Alister had a fantastic night sleep and not one single wakeup! It must have been the veges he had the day before that kept him up. Remember I said that his fingernail was coming off from when he jammed it? it is looking so ugly ATM, there was skin coming off from around the nail where it filled with pus and black stuff under the nail and he wouldn't let me clean it up, so I gave him some panadol in his bottle last night and once he was asleep I set to it with the tweezers and got all the skin off and all the stuff out from under the nail, which turned out to just be fluff I suppose he picked up while playing etc. I tried to pull the nail right off, but it isn't quite ready yet. So today it looks loads better and isn't so red and swollen.
-
Morning Girls,
Sherie- I am glad your ear is getting better. And WTG A for sleeping all night.
Rainy & Clare- Hope you feel better soon:hug:
MD- Where are you... I hope your anniversary went well:hug:
-
hi everyone
quick post from me...
poor little N has a cold again, and was up all night... DH has just taken him to the dr before he flies out, i am sure it isjust a cold but want to be sure since i will soon be a lone parent again :-( for the week...
poor little guy getting sick so often - i am thinking it has to be something we aree doing wrong - no one else seems to have a baby sick as often as us.... DH says last night 'X isnt sick as much as N, oh but he is still bfed' - geez that made me feel good.... not! i do still bfeed 2 times per day... surely that isnt it? or is it that he is in care? or that we go away too much?
anyway DH is just seeing if he should go today (at 1) or maybe see if he can postpone til tomorrow - i dont know really... i am so stressed about how i will manage it all, work etc etc with no sleep and a sick bubba again (ie he prob cant go to care) buit i guess we will make it work. it's my bday on wed too - geez happy bday to me!!! i am meant to got o melb on wed/thu - for work (and mum look after N) i kinda want to go early to get some help but am rethinking even if it is a good idea at all...
anyway so sorry for the vent - i am feeling v sorry for myself and N at the moment... will come back on later when i am in a better headspace to do personals etc etc (i know a lot goingon so sorry i am being so selfish)
-
Pregpan,:hug: I have said it before and I will say it again - it is not your fault N is sick. It isn't because he goes to day care and it isn't because you have reduced BF. He is sick because babies get sick. He had the misfortune of getting a bad bug at the start of flu season, now he is getting hit with everything else because he hasn't had a chance to get fully better before the next one comes along. It could have happened to any of us.
W is suspiciously quiet, better go (usually means he is playing in the rubbish bin, dog water or toilet lol)
-
Pregpan- It is horrible when they are sick all the time. We had 4 cold in 5 weeks plus a bladder infection not so long ago and Lu is still BF 5 times a day and doesn't go to care. (And she has another cold now.) So don't be too hard on yourself. Yes they are exposed to more bugs at childcare, but at least he is builing his immune system. They say thet BF puts a protective coating on the mucous membranes in the nose and throat offering a little more protection against colds, but it is certainly not 100% effective, as shown by my little girl!
Raino- Yeah i have a little nausea, but not a pinch on last time still. I havn't thrown up yet which is awsome. Sorry to hear you are feeling so crappy, it really is hard with m/s as well as a baby who doesn't sleep. Our sleep has been on and off, i need to help her to self settle again.
Clare- yeah thats the prob with little-uns they develop too much between birthdays! ;) What they get for a 1st birthday they might not play with when they are 18months.
Arte- What's with the toilet? Lu loves it.
-
Pregpan :hug: I agree with Arte you are not doing anything wrong. You are a great mum and just having a run of bad luck.
Sorry for the short post but I am in the middle of a cook up, did the veggies last night and doing the snacks today. Will BBL. Oh btw I never ended up having a bath.
-
Hi Girls! I am feeling a whole world better so thought to jump on and see what was happening!
Calling MD!! hope you are doing ok, and that the girls are behaving themselves ;)
Pregpan: Nup. all the bubs are little germ monsters ATM. leila seems to have a perpetual rendition of the walrus happening (ie two big booga trails). it has been going on for about 2 weeks...oh so delicate my child. just like an anne geddes calendar he he he!
Noni: did you end up putting a piccie of A on the little tikes comp? leila is on there...man there are soo many cute bubbas!! if A is on there i'll vote for her!
Sherie: great news that the infection is getting quashed! sounded pretty nasty.
arrghh I know! they just grow sooo fast, and you are so proud of them learning about their world and at the same time you go awww, she's not a little baby anymore!
ozstar: man, can i steal you for the day and you can cook up here! LOL! I have totally run out of prepared food. and i am feeling less than enthused at the prospect of cooking all those veges.
Ange and Rain: hope the m/s passes soon for you guys! and good news is that i can watch big brother tonight without interruption as DH is away in the gong!!! YAY! (i gotta find the silver lining somewhere!) i am surprised that travis got the flick. i thought it would have been ben...
-
hi everyone! thanks for the replies - you made me feel a lot better... now i just need to convince DH that N is not a 'sickly' kid - he is really worried about him. he is also really worried that he is not crawling yet - we spent the weekend with my BIL and SIL and nephew who is 12 days older than N and just a superkid - and that has DH (and me to some extent if i am 100% honest) spooked about it all. aah you can see i am having a low week.
Clare and Sherie - glad you are both feeling better - both illnesses sounded awful!
Rainy - hope the ms gets better soon, at least you get a gorgeous package at the end of it all LOL! Ange - how are you feeling? gosh it is exciting.. havent been keeping witht he latest - are you guys having scans and things yet? when are you both due?
Katie - come cook here.. would you believe my stores are getting depleted!!!???? i still have a few things for him, but not a huige variety like he is used to. he isnt so into his food now, he is eating but not with gusto - so it prob isnt a bad thing.
MD - WOOOO HOOOO - we miss you. hope you are ok....
Cally - oh i am flattered you write my recipes down!!!
ok better go so much to do.
thanks again for making me a feel (a bit) better girls.
-
hi there everyone
sherie - you poor thing - that sounds so horrible - i'm glad it's starting to get better for you. Sneaky mummy cleaning A's nail while he was asleep - obviously what it needed to help it get better.
clare - great that you are feeling much better. lol at the walrus. Hannah is the same at the moment. I was standing at Jess's school assembly this morning, and holding hannah facing away from me. Zoe alerted me to the snot bubble that H was blowing out of her nose
pregpan - you're such a busy mummy - and doing such a wonderful job with your little man. I take my hat off to you. Hannah has quite alot of colds too, and a couple of times i've thought that my breastmilk hasn't been doing it's job. I think the germs of today are just too powerful! Hopefully your dh can stay home an extra night for you.
arte- what mischief was W up too??
I had a look on MD's facebook, and she says she's wanting the snot monster to go away so she can get some sleep. So i'm assuming that E's not well and keeping her awake.
hugs to you Md.
-
Hi Jaz, yes, I was a bit norti doing it, I also cut his fingernails at the same time cause he never sits still otherwise LOL. LMAO at Hannah having a snot bubble at assembly. So you're all settled back into the school routine after the holidays? I will miss the sleepins LOL.
Pregpan, Noah getting sick alot this winter is just one of those things and its not something you can blame on something you've done or haven't done. Its everywhere too - there hasn't been many families around here that haven't had weeks of illness. Its only been this week that I *think* I can safely say the kids are well and we've had bad health in this house since the end of May. The poor little fella's immune system is running on empty, but next year he might breeze through it kwim? And don't worry about the crawling either. When I had Erin another playgroup mum had a baby girl 3wks older and here was Erin doing all these things and her little girl didn't crawl till nearly 12mths and she didn't walk till nearly 17mths - and Erin had been walking since 9.5mths old, she was running up steps by the time this little girl started walking but to see them now, you would have no idea at all. His little body has it's work cut out just trying to stay well, so movement has just been put on the backburner for a while :)
Katie, bummer at not getting a bath!
Arte, I put my hand up to owning a grot who likes to play in the toilet. I am on at the kids all the time to close the door.
Leanne, is everyone still well at your end?
-
hi ladies
pregpan- sounds like you're having a shocking time, just like the week i've just had  just to second what everyone else has said- it is not your fault he's sick again. lewis has been sick for 9 days now...and before that he had roseola. it's just a combination of the time of year and the age they are atm iykwim?
lewis had no signs of crawling and used to just lie there at mothers group while all the other babies crawled around him and over the top of him. then one day, he just crawled...and now he is scaling furniture and almost walking.
sherie- nice nail surgery dr sherie! yes i think you're right that i'm finding it harder due to lack of sleep. you'll be happy to know that lewis actually slept through from 12pm to 4am last night- not much i know but a huge improvement from what it's been like and i feel like a new woman! i got up early and went and did the supermarket shopping and took the dog for a walk. i feel great :)
ange- how do you help lu to self settle? i need some help off you i think. my lu will only sleep 1 of 3 ways- on the boob, in the sling, in the car seat. anything else, forget about it!
i think you are having a boy for sure. you lucky duck!
have you thought of names yet? it's doing my head in and dp won't help :wall: he named lewis so this one is all mine! he has to agree though.
clare- i'll be watching big brother tonight for sure. i voted for travis to go!!! i can't stand him at all. i want to slap him across the face. maybe it is pregnancy hormones making me so violent.
katie- have a big bath tonight!
-
Luckily W wasn't getting into anything - I found him kicking his ball across the lounge LMAO
Ozstar, bummer about the bath. We don't have one in this house and W is having bathtime in a plastic storage tub from Supercheap Auto lol
MM, I was following the pregnancy of the BB member that you were talking about, I cried when I read her second bub had passed away. It just isn't fair.
Trill, good to hear that you are slightly less elephant lady today. I was wondering if W's dinner was making him a bad sleeper, but last night he only had a couple of bites and still woke up the standard 6 times. I guess he will grow out of it eventually?
Rainy, you jinxed yourself saying you were going to wait to TTC, hope you haven't jinxed yourself again by saying you were only having two kids lol, there could be an extra hiding in there :p
Renee, how are you? Is Rory feeling better?
Noni, how is Asha's rash going?
OMG I saw the eurotrike the other day and it is really cool. Is there much difference between the eurotrike and smarttrike? I think we are going to get one either for his birthday or christmas. I love that it has a seatbelt, I put him in it at the shop and he thought it was fantastic.
Bluddy hell, there have been builders here all last week and today moving the garage and fixing the driveway, they keep waking W up with all the banging and earthmoving gear. I wish they would p1ss off.
Re food, W has about 1/2 cup per meal, if that. He seems to be dropping day feeds, he will now only feed to sleep. The other day we were out all day and he wouldn't drink (only attaches for a couple of secs), so he only had a feed before we got out of bed and then at night when he went to bed. He ate nearly a whole banana in one go that day though lol
Does anyone know if they grow out of feeding to sleep? Will he self-wean if that is the only way he can get to sleep? I can't see it ever ending.
Will is helping me get him undressed now, I pull an arm out of his top and he will grab the body part and pull it over his head. He is growing up way to fast, he isn't a baby at all now :(
I am having my first ever paranoid parent trip to the doctors tomorrow. W has been really grumpy today and wakes up with hot flushed cheeks. It is probably teeth again, but I saw him sleeping holding his ear and I want to get it checked because I would hate to assume it is teeth and leave an ear infection.
Grrr, awake again thank you builders.
-
arte- i am completely freaking out that there is 2 in there!!!!!
i told dp that if it's twins i'm never working again and i'm hiring a nanny!
looking very forward to getting a scan just to clear my head of that one...
lmao @ supercheap auto. it sounds like you and i are having very similar issues regarding bfing to sleep. does he really wake up 6 times a night or did you make that up? i'm too scared to admit it to anyone but i reckon lewis probably feeds about that many times in the night. i don't count or really wake up for most of them. have you read 'no cry sleep solution'? she has this method of taking them off the bb before they are asleep so they learn to fall asleep on their own. she said 'you might have to try it 3-5 times'...well....let me tell you....i reckon i tried it 30-50 times before i wrote it off as a bad joke., it's doing my head in a bit cos i feel like i'm made lewis too dependant on me iykwim? and it's my fault that he wakes up so much now..
-
arte - i think that's a good call taking him to the doctor. Hopefully he doesn't have an ear infection though. Bummer about the tradies waking W up. How much longer are they going to be at your place?
rainy - does L use a dummy? Up until a month ago i was feeding H when she woke throught the night. Now i just pop her dummy back in and she usually goes back to sleep - otherwise i snuggle up into bed with her. L sleeps with you guys doesn't he?
-
Arte, definately take him to the Dr. It could be just teeth, but if it is an ear infection it is best to get on top of it now instead of when he is screaming in pain from it because by golly they are painfully cruel for little ones.
G, LOL at you getting a nanny if it's twins. I reckon it's a precious strawberry one ;) Its amazing how much even a few hours unbroken sleep can do for you isn't it?
-
jaz- yeah he sleeps with us. what kind of dummy do you use? we've tried a couple of different types with lewis and he just sort of chews on them and then spits them out- won't suck them.
sherie- one strawberry one would be just lovely thank you!

Rainy, it is seriously 6 times a night. A fantastic night is 3-4 times, but it is not uncommon for it to be 6+ and that isn't even counting the couple of times he wakes before I go to bed. I only semi wake most of the time, but sometimes I try to keep count so I can tell if he is improving or not. From 4-8 months he woke hourly, it was a miracle if he slept for two straight hours so he is better than he was. I have the no cry sleep solution book, but I have always pulled him off the boob just before he is asleep and it hasn't done anything for us. I don't know of any solution and am just hoping that as he gets older he will sleep better lol. I seriously don't know what else to do, everyone tells me the only option is to leave him to cry which I won't do. LMAO about freaking out about two. My first thought at my scan with W was 'thank god there is only one'. My hat is off to Leanne, I don't think I could manage twins.
JaZaH, no idea how much longer they will be here. I had no idea it would take 6 full days just to move a single garage. I would be super p1ssed if it was me paying for it lol, the bill is going to be massive.
ETA Trill, I am always paranoid about ear infections since DH had a lot when he was little, as well as ear ulcers whatever they are. I have heard that kids are more likely to get them if their parents did.
Rainy, W won't take a dummy either. I don't like them but tried in desperation once but he spat it straight back out.
-
Hi Girls,
Rainy- lol at you having twins... Welcome to my world... its not all that bad. hehehehehehe.
Prepan- I know how you are feeling:hug: hope N gets better soon.
Sherie- Yep we seem to be ok for now.. dont want to jinx myself..
Art- Hope W is Ok
Hello to everyone

Hi ladies, sorry I've been MIA a bit, DH left in the middle of the night (it seemed) on Fri am, and I've had a horribly sick little bubba ever since. Clinging, high pitched crying, can't put her down all day, waking every 20 mins, dodgey breathing in the middle of the night, the whole caboodle. I think she actually had croup but I managed to stave off a bad attack by having the steamer going before it got to that. 2 x Drs weren't much help because they based it on their examination NOT my description of how she was overnight (!! Bluddy MEN). Then she slept really well last night and I spent half the night awake worrying that I'd inadvertantly given her too much medecine (mummy paranoia). Anyway it hasn't done much for my hyper-vigilant-now-DH-is-away nerves so I'm really trying to chill out now.
Pregpan, be kind to yourself. The first year in CC is legendary for the constant run of illness, Noah's body is just getting used to it then he'll be better able to stave it off in future. BTW don't fret he's not crawling, some bubs never do and they just skip straight ahead and walk. He'll move when he's good and ready!
Trill - ah sorry to hear about your Elephantitis! Sounds awful, glad it's starting to come good. BTW I was reading you put Noni Hazelhurst in the thread about celeb mums and I had a giggle cos she's who I would've said! LOL
Well I'm feeling a bit behind the 8-ball because we are getting a ride on but not a trike for E's 1st birthday. H didn't get her first trike until the Christmas she turned 18mths and TBH I'd rather wait a bit and get a larger, sturdier one.
Rainy, Oh my dear it must def be your preggy hormones you're normally such a gentle soul! I was barracking for Trav to be in the final three but I'd rather Alice or Terri won. I really hope Rory doesn't get it because I'm sick of the lowest-common-denominator blokey-bloke winning (except for last year of course).
Clare haha about being glad DH is in the gong for BB tonight. Grab that silver lining wherever you can hun. Have you reached a decision about staying or going or is it too early for that?
Cally can I have a copy of your transcribed cookery book, thanks? I haven't jotted them down but wish I had because I'm running short on inspiration. Latest success was simply to put a couple of chicken drummies in a small covered casserole with some large chunks of veggies, covered in an inch of liquid, then slow baked while our dinner was heating up in the oven. The meat and veggies came out so soft and yummy, I just shredded it all together and E loved it.
Ange E loves the toilet too, she loves banging on the lid.. *sigh* I try to keep her out of there but she's as fast as lightening! LOL
BTW I saw that Oprah show with the lady's insanely tidy house. And then they raved on about how fabulous it was for such a "small house" THEN she said the house was 700 sq meters and I was like, HOLY CRAP that's the size of my entire house PLUS my entire large back and front yards back home in Adel. NOT a small house, it's a McMansion!! My house would be tidy too if I had an additional 300 sq meters of storage space!
Sorry for all the personals I've missed. Brainio's gone to mush. Thanks everyone for the anniversary wishes, DH owes me a night out when he gets home, that's for sure!
-
ETA - Hats off to you Arte and Rainy with the getups. That was how often E was getting up too so I sooo believe you about that. I tried some of the suggestions in that book and then after a bit nothing worked, not even feeding her (she would just rewake all the time). One thing that did make a difference (in how frequently she wakes) was doing some extra day feeds. Going to a quiet room so she actually has a good feed and re-offering even when she's distracted. I've also backed off on how much fruit and non-starchy veg she was having, in favour of more energy-dense foods. Apparently she was hungry because her weight gain had flattened out and she had a huge weight gain the week I made the changes. With DD1 we were able to settle her back to sleep in the rocking chair after a quick drink from the sippy cup but that didn't work at all with E.
-
md maybe the fruit is a factor for N as well - I am up with him quite a bit too and am finding nothing works to settle now, we have to sit and holdhim for AGES!!! (this is when he doesnt have a cold). what energy dense foods do you mean?
suggestions would be great - N does have alot of fruit.
-
hIYA cHICs!
wow i haven't been on here for so long. i have been SOOOO busy. selling our house, starting back at TAFE etc.
T is still not crawling but able to get around. she is pulling herself up onto things so it wont be long b4 she walks no doubt.
hope all is going well for everyone.
xxooo i will log on soon!
-
SupaB - we will have to catch up for coffee one day...we're moving back to Adel in 09! :D
Pregpan - ok, so I use a little bit of veggie like carrot or beetroot, but make sure there's more potato, sweet potato, oats, rice, couscous, etc and just a bit of the other. Same goes for fruit - i'm still giving it but I use more cereal and less fruit. I'm also doing things like adding cheese, cream cheese and a small knob of butter or oil when I'm cooking. Just a little bit, kwim? Adding more calories without adding too much more bulk.
