He's only away 2 nights (QLD oops it never even occured to me to wonder if he'd get caught in a storm ). Had an attack last night but it wasn't as bad as the previous night so thankfully it's not going to be that painful all the time. Which is sort of reassuring if it's going to happen frequently, esp if I have to wait awhile to get the op done. I'm still not convinced that it's possible to eat a 100% fat free diet (like my Dr seems to think) so it's something I'm going to have to live with for a bit. Now ENOUGH of me talking about my granny health problems!!
Funny E and H both forgot DH wasn't here this morning, it's kind of like the new normal, more surprising when he is home LOL.
We had a lovely morning having a coffee with our very own Cally today! K couldn't make it tho cos she was having a playdate with Grandma. It was absolutely lovely to see you again Cally. I kind of feel sad that there will be no more catch ups, as infrequent as they have been. xxx
Clare "Weeride" great idea! I think that's what DH wants to get for his bike and he also wants to get a bike for me but I'm not riding anything except a proper old fashioned lady bike haha. Always feel like I'm going to fall off the other sort. Sorry you're feeling so sensitised by your work problems, sounds like you'll get the last laugh. I had to upward-manage a hopeless supervisor for over a year, didn't realise how stressed it had made me until he finally went to a different work unit (where he is much better suited) and finally all that stress fell off my shoulders. Where did you work in Canb?
Trill *SNAP* on the dizzy spinning!! H taught E to do it about a week ago and she does it all the time now. Fun when she's not crashing into furniture! I hope A is a bit happier and more cooperative for you today.
Arte - haha Gall attack = netball position. I'll have something funny to laugh about next time it comes on. What sort of corn are you putting in? I've tried growing it a few times but I've never really had enough space in my small veggie patch to get it growing really well. What else have you got in your garden?
Ok so it looks like a few of us need to know your corn secrets - Ange and Arte - spill!!!
OK well after promising myself for the umpteenth year in a row I wasn't going to buy any more Chrissy decorations, I've gone and done it again. To be fair, we don't have a wreath for the door (the one I made when I was 22 has finally died), and there was this gorgeous sparkly number, it's completely covered in huge 10 cent sized coloured sequins and beads. Very wooweewoo. Now I've just gotta wait until 1 Dec to put it up for a whole 2 weeks before I've got to take it down again LOL. Is anyone else excited that it's Nearly December??!
Trill, no probs getting preg with W (was actually trying to avoid lol), the LP issues I think are because of the breastfeeding. He still feeds 3-6 times during the day, more if he is having a clingy day, and then another 3-6 times at night. My neice was nearly a 05-05-05 bub but she stayed in a few extra days, I love the cool birthdays like that.
Ange, challenge accepted! How many did you plant? I suspect we might have enough corn to feed a small army.
MD, we have so far planted cabbage, lettuce, radishes, potatoes, sugarsnap peas, peas, capsicum, pumpkin, courgette and the corn. I have never been very successful with corn. My first attempt as a kid got ruined by someones dog and the second attempt got eaten by cows. Hopefully this time we actually get to eat some. My secret to growing corn is to plant some popcorn in some damp potting mix then leave it in the hot water cupboard to sprout. Then I shifted them outside for a few days to green up and now have planted them in the garden. I am sort of excited about december this year, we have decided to organise a christmas party for my family just before christmas and have talked the IL's into going to FILs mothers for christmas with the rest of the extended family (there is some sort of history there but I don't care- I want a big christmas!!!)
MM, those must be some mega tanties! I forgot to say I saw the vid of M dancing on FB, how frickin' cute is that! I couldn't believe it, she has a whole heap of groove on.
I got a massive bargain today. I was at bunnings and saw a cute little kids plastic picnic table. I asked how much it was and because it was the last one they marked it down from $50 to $35. On the way out the door I noticed that one of the clips to attach the seat on one side was broken so I took it back in for a refund. Then I overheard them saying it would go in the bin so I offered $10 to their social club and bought it again. It is completely usable, just if you pick it up by the seat one bit pops out, nothing a bit of superglue won't fix. So I was quite happy with that and W loves it.
we're back from holiday, was fun but lewis got sick and woke up at 5am and spewed all over me. he was sick again this morning at 3am and he's feeling pretty miserable....
the good news is though, when we were away he started WALKING!!! yah!
he's so happy with himself. df is upset that he didnt get to see his first steps, but was nearly crying when we got home and lewis walked to him. awww so cute..
hope everyone is well
bbl to catch up with you all xoxo

hello to everyone else hope everyones having a wonderful weekend!!
Noni - 2 days late wow that's exciting - and nerve-wracking too I bet !
Gee my mind boggles at the coke can chrissy tree - please oh please do you have a photo of that? Yay for buying a new one. We had a small cheapo ever since 1992, but I picked it well for what we could afford and loved it every year even tho DH always complained it was too small. But it was good because we could put it on top of something when DD1 was little/new puppies, etc. Anyway last year we finally went out and got a big one. Then I had to buy LED lights cos they ones we had were melting the branches (!) DH left the old one out on 2nd hand Sunday, then he put it in the trailer to go to the dump, then I saved it. It's still in the boot of the car, it's supposed to go to charity but i'm not sure I can bear to part with it LOL.
JaZaH - good to see you online, hoping everythings ok with you. xxx
Wondering how all our other QLD ladies are faring with the storms, etc?
ok md piccies are in the gallery of the tree hehe.
oh and yes it is very nerve racking cross ur fingers for me!! i did have a dream last night about having a little boy if thats anything to go by.. though due what would be the conception date i think its more likely that i have a girl if im pregnant...
Noni that is one AMAZING tree. Pity Burke's Backyard isn't still on the telly, if it was your photo would make it into the Christmas show for sure!! LOL I think if you're having dreams you're either PG now or it can't be too far off!
Rainy - big big YAYAYAYAYAAY! For Lewis walking. I bet the look on DF's face was priceless!!
Arte, that sounds like one foine veggie patch you've got yourself there. I'm really going to miss my veggies this year, tho I might be able to get some late cherry toms and lettuces and herbs once we're back home. Well done on your Bunnings Bargain! (it's the season for sniffin them out )!
Arte: lol! no, unfortunately we are not in baby-making land just yet. DH is keen, but i have to finish my Phd, otherwise i know that it wont get done. I have been using FF for checking out temps and O times. i have endo have found it really really useful on letting me know when i should stop the caffeine (not meant to have it just before O or AF) and also to just know what is going on with my system. I use homeopathy to treat it, so need to know all the ridiculously small details to tell my Dr...oh the joys!!
mmmmm, corn....mmmm. love fresh corn. wish i could become the official taste tester for this corn-off between ange and arte!
Rainy: YAY! L is walking! how awesome that he walked to his daddy! mwahhhh...
MD: you would be jealous to know that less than 200 mtrs from my door is the largest christmas decoration store in Australia. it is ginormous. we are kitting out the front of the house this year, so you know where i am going!
The wee-ride looks fairly simple to use. although having to swing my leg right over is slightly daunting. ATM we have a traditional back seat one, but L hates it. so we tried her on the weeride and lo and behold we had a happy chappy...
Sherie: yeah, i guess that will b our best approach. And TBH, i do think L is too small. i doubt she is even cracking the 9kg mark. just dont feel comfy with the heavy load, so we will reassess when she is older. i have had a quick look at the delayed vaccination schedule someone posted on here and it looks like something we are considering. anyway, we'll see how it goes tomorrow...
AFM: all good here. we weathered the storm yesterday pretty well. hail poured in the house through the two fireplaces which was largely unpleasant. the park across the road has some ripped out trees and downed street lights, but all in order considering.
went to a hens night last night and wow wee, loved it!! I dont really remember how many ****tails i had, but it was bliss! and we outlasted both the bride-to-be and the groom-to-be (we all met up after dinner to power on). slightly seedy today, so cooked some eggs and bacon but am in desperate need of a large latte....
LMAO at you being seedy Clare! I am hanging out till Dec 1 when I go shopping with Mum and then I am going to hit Myer for decorations this year, they have gorgeous ones.
Marydean, I am pensioning off the old tree too this year. And like you, it has served me well - heck I even left it decorated from year to year in the cupboard and just got it out to freshen them up and dust them off LMAO. So this year I am buying a big one cause it looks a bit silly now to see a little tree with so many presents. I also found the smaller one great to put up high out of reach of little hands....
Noni, Now you make sure you keep us in the loop LOL. I will have to go off for a looky at the tree too - I have seen similar ones done with cans and that before and they look awesome don't they? Very clever.
G, Lewis isn't still sick today is he? I hope not. And SUPER YAY for him walking!!!! that's great news.
WOOHOO on the Bargain Arte. You've certainly got an impressive vege patch. Do you preserve/freeze all your excess at all? That's what I usually do with what we cant eat.
Baking day today! so far I have made mini strawberry muffins, I have a carrot cake in the oven and I will make some berry cupcakes (with frozen berries) when the cake is done. I also have two huge bags of lamb shanks defrosting to roast for dinner tonight too - weather is appalling here so a yummy roasted comfort food dinner will be perfect.
LMAO at putting the tree back in the cupboard fully decorated...why didn't I think of that
Ah your comfort food has got me thinking. It's cold today here too, I found a stray ham hock in the deep freeze so I've got a pot of soup on, chicken thighs out for tea tonight, might have to slap a marinade on and roast them up with some veggies...mmmmm.
Clare, ok, you owe us photies after telling us all how fabulous your house is going to look! LOL
md- i always know when your dh is away cos your green light is on more often i love it!
noni- oohhh how exciting! fingers crossed for you
sherie- your baking sounds fab, i can smell it all from here. i'm jealous!
clare- how much longer till you finish your phd?
well lewis is still a bit lethargic today but not throwing up....but now df is sick! he's been throwing up all night- he must have caught it off lewis.
i feel sorry for him but i also feel a bit resentful, biatchy but i can't help it! he hasn't moved out of bed and is acting like he's dying.
when i was sick i couldn't rest cos i had to get up and look after lewis, i even had to drive myself and lewis to the hospital, stopping to throw up....while when he's sick he won't lift a finger and has been having long hot showers and lying in bed.
MD: yeah, well i reckon you may be disappointed by the house! i was thinking of just popping up some icicle lights from the verandah roof and threading some off the picket fence...so nothing too spesh unfortunately! if only i had a better homes and gardens type DH, THEN we would be in serious business LOL!
mmmmm, chicken, mmmmmm, or sherie's lamb shanks mmmmmmmmmmm...
Rainy: oh it's soo true! these boys just dont get it! when we are sick we try to have the world keep turning, but it certainly doesnt go both ways.
i have to submit the thesis for the phd in march of 2010. sounds like ages, until i realise how much more i have to do LOL! really gotta get crackin' on the writing....
sherie: you are soo right! MYER does gorgeous chrissy stuff. it's where i got L's first christmas bauble. so adorable. i also just bought her christmas party dress from there. love it...it has tulle. what more could a girl want?! LOL!
hey everyone,
