Hi girls!

Noni: wow! you are 13 weeks already?!! amazing!

JaZ: great to see you back! oooh starting school! i saw some first day tips for parents on sunrise today. i think mel has her daughter starting as well.

well i am in the office today. thought to escape the heat and DH is with Leila going to the museum...
we have no aircon at home so have pulled the blinds and curtains. i think it will stay fairly cool in there as we have a double brick victorian terrace. so it is very deep and dark. perfect for heat escapism.

Well we have the house closed up and the a/c set to come on a couple of hours before we get home and it's only going to be 32 here today!! Tomorrow I am out on site all morning which I am not looking forward to at all - hoping that everyone can get out nice and early so we can avoid the heat. I'd rather wake up a bit early than be hot.

Speaking of waking up early, DD slept past 7 again this morning!! Loving the extra time in bed!

Clare - hope your place stays nice and cool for you. Lucky L, going to the museum!! Great idea, mum's group at the pool!!

Trill - that pool sounds great. Love the nudie swim, one of the great advantages of having neighbours many km's away!!

Jaz - FB is easier isn't it just for a quick update and photos?

PP - that bite sounds bad. I'd be heading to the doctor if it's still getting worse. Sorry about your grandad, hope he's feeling better soon.

Rainy and Ange - hope you guys find some way to get relief, I certainly don't envy you being this far along. How much easier was it having bubs in September!!

We had a bath last night. DD came running in with each of her dolls - I say 'No, Katie, Jemima doesn't need a bath', 'No K, Winston doesn't need a bath', 'No K, Ruby doesn't need a bath', then she got to the last one, 'No K, Hubert doesn't need a bath'. She started nodding at me then, like yes, he does!! It was so funny, we had a pile of toys outside the bathroom that had been discarded when she went to find another one!! So cute!!

thx for asking about the arm... well i ended up at the dr at 10pm last night... it kept swelling and i was getting shooting pains up and down my arm... the swelling was huge and it had gone from abuot a 20 c piece on mon night to over half my arm. was v red and hot...
anyway it is a v bad allergic reaction, she said she has them too... it usually gets worse for 2 days and then slowly better, with residual itchy and sore patch for about 1 week...i felt like such an idiot ging to the dr for something like that... but luckily as she has had similarreactions she knows how painful it is.. so she understood. she said the cream and even anti histwont do anything at this pt but to ice it and keep elevated ad try to immobilise as much as poss. and panadol for the pain (which is nerve pain due to the swelling). been doing that... and it is a bit better today... didnt sleep well last night was v painful. how bizarre hey! just for the record i went to the chem to get anti hist in case i needed it (would have been closed once i was done with dr) and phenergen is cat c (geez and the 1st chem i went to recommded it..) but polaramine is cat a.

jaz - good to hear from you, i am on fbook but so far have kept bB and FB sep... DH was adamant about that a while back - i will ask what he thinks now... (privacy and all)

G, I remember when I was pg with Lindsay, I was at the same stage as you and OMG I hated it! And being on the farm there was no way I could cool myself effectively either. I spent a lot of nights on a matress in the loungeroom sleeping under the aircon that's for sure! Did you see my FB comment yesterday though? Notice I have only 1 summer babe? ROFL.

I'm wondering though if MD hasn't melted Wicked witch of the West Style ROFL "I'm melting I'm melting!" it got to 45 over there today.

It's actually not been intolerable here today - its 38 but I don't feel ready to die kwim?

The kids had their first day back at school today. They are in really good classes with great teachers, so I'm happy with that (but all the teachers at our school are wonderful) The only thing I'm not terribly keen on is that Lindsay has the boy next door to us in his class in yr4 (L is in yr3) and he's one of those kids who knows it all and you don't - everything Lindsay talks about with this boy he just says 'oh that's not true' etc and it really sh its Lindsay to tears kwim? But it wont be too bad, Lindsay doesn't let it bother him, it's just an annoyance.

uuurrghhh i have just made DH go to the local quiki mart and bring me home a MEGA sized slurpee. ran out of blue and red...uurghhh, dont they know that they are the best flavours at 41 degree temps???

seriously though ppl i just checked our thermometer and it is still at 40. 9PM PEOPLE.

Rainy, i have been thinking of you and Ange all day. i saw a number of heavily pg women today (uni is near the RWH) and they didnt look too impressed and were walking S...L...O...W. poor things.

MD: you still kicking sista? 45. two up on us.... have u literally melted? cause if it wasnt for my MEGA slurpee i would be a puddle in the hallway right now.

honestly i am surprised that the tennis is still on.

Oz: oh that is exciting that you are planning a home birth! oooh i hope the middie is nice!!

AFM: well went to uni. pumped the aircon. DH had leila all day and they did ok. he took her to bunnings instead of the museum :rolleyes:. typical bloke. but then they were a bit norti and escaped to the neighbours and the kidlets went nudie rudie under a sprinkler...norti i know...but so worth the smiles and excitement. i have to say that is nice to have families as neighbours. we hang out heaps and tend to have casual dinners together all the time. takes the stress out of the late afternoon as the kids are entertained and you have adult company too! bring on the village people!

Huge hugs to all the pregnant mammas in the hot heat!! Especially you Rainy with your 36 week tummy you poor thing. Ohhh and MD in Adelaide, bet you've been housebound all day?! DP was in Adelaide today & said it was incredibly hot!

Trillian - Theres something about nakie swimming that makes you feel so free & relaxed. If we had a pool I'd be doing the exact same thing with a glass of red hehe.

Clare - Isnt it funny how swimming always wears them out. If I take M to the beach or pools she will sleep for hours and hours afterwards.

Cally - Aww thats so cute of K to want to bathe her dollys!

Noni - Good luck with the childcare, sure it will all be fine. Congrats on hitting the 13 week mark, I can see your pregnancy is going to fly by.

Oz - WOW on wanting a homebirth, good for you. If I wasnt such a controlled person I'd do it too lol. Hoping you fall pregnant very soon.

PAP - That bite sounds like it is a shocker, cant believe it flared up so much! Can just imagine the pain & discomfort.

Jazmum - Well I am dying to watch your ivey idol on FB but we've used all our downloads for the month so the net is running extra slow. Dont worry about not getting on here an awful lot, like you said we all keep up to date through FB too.

Seems since I stopped worrying so much about the night feed, M has started to drop it. Dont want to speak too soon but I think we are on the right track, finally, thank goodness.

As for the MIL situation, seems she has come to her senses and offered to make our wedding cake. So I snapped that one up & said for sure, will help us out alot & also it will give her something to focus on & she wont feel left out iykwim. I have been emailing her with updates to keep her in the loop & she finally responded. She must have realised she was being silly hehe. I am feeling alot more organised with this wedding now, if there is anything else to be done too bad I'm not doing it lol. I ended up buying a simple champagne coloured dress from witchery to change into at the 'reception', as my wedding dress is sooooo heavy and thick & I absolutely cook in it. Besides we are just having a simple backyard do so what does it matter.

PMSL! Apparently we're in for another 6 days of it, Mon will be cooler (38 degrees hahahaaHA!). Well I'll either be enjoying the aircon at the local public hospital or if it gets REALLY bad I'll just take refuge in my closest Haighs store, It'll be nice'n'cool in there, they can't have the chocolate melting, now can they?

Trill so pleased to hear your kids have all got good classes. I'm soooo pleased with the teach DD1's scored, he's the one all the parents and the kids want and she came home on day one switched on and started her homework straight away LOL. I know what you mean about the knowitalls, there was one who plagued DD1 at the old school.

Full commisserations Rainy, I had a similar foul summer when I was PG with DD1. OK I was only 2nd trimester but we had no aircon, not even in the car. I survived by chomping through glass after glass of ice with my feet in a bucket of iced water and the fan pointed directly at me LOL. Not long now sweetie.

Clare, a slurpee shortage, well that's not on! LOL Your neighbours sound lovely. Ours are nice enough but we aint ever going to be that cosy.

PP hope your arm is getting better and better. It sounds just awful. Well done on finding out about the best antihistamine, I'm a bit cranky that the other pharmacy didn't do their homework!

MM, so glad your MIL has seen the light and will offer some practical assistance. RU having fruitcake?

Katie, let us know how your MW meeting goes. I was in the homebirth group in Darwin before I moved and then had no choice. All power to ya sister!

Midwife didn't show up, was about to call her to see if she was lost when she rang to say she had been busy and forgot. I wasn't very happy as I had rushed around all arvo to get L fed and bathed and DH rushed home from work. She is going to ring tomorrow and make another appointment. I am also meeting up with one who I spent 45 min on the phone to, I am in love with her already. DH is worried about the homebirth so I am hoping the midwife can help calm his nerves.
L says thank you now, he only ever said ta a few times and just went straight to thank you its very cute. He also jumped and got both feet off the ground last night, he hasnt been able to do it since tho lol.

Oz - From what I've heard, its normal for most hubby's to be nervous about the home birth. I'm sure the midwife will calm his nerves, bet she's done it with plenty of nervous hubbys. Oh thats a shame the first midwife let you down like that, such a pain when you rush around getting everything ready. Just out of interest, how do you track down midwives that specialise in homebirths? The local paper? lol just a guess!

MD - Cant believe you have to endure another 6 days, what is going on!? We are both definately not fruitcake fans, MIL wants a fruitcake though, even though I've told her NO fruitcake. I just cant be bothered anymore so we will wait & see what she comes up with!

MM I just googled and found the Home Midwifery Association and went through them. But when I googled I found a few. I am sure she will be able to calm DH 's nerves too he has been so good about it all.

Ohh ok. You can tell I havent been brave enough to go down that path!! Local paper...good one hehe. Wow I think you are awesome for going for a home birth.

hy everyone,
enrollment went well, asha went and had a play while we were filling out forms.. she didnt even realise i had gona back into the office lol she just continued playing with the other kids.. then at lunch time she followed them all into the bathroom to wash her hands and sat down at the table for lunch haha they gave her a little bit and then i took her home, she was so tired she fell asleep in the pram haha i think shes really gonna love it there.. might be a bit different when i actually say goodbye and leave but i think she will end up really happy to go which is a releif, fingers crossed anyway..
out shopping today with mum to buy a dress for a wedding we are going to on saturday gosh just when i am not quite at the looking pg stage and still in the looking bloated stage i have to go to a formal wedding lol bummer!!
biiig freezy slurpees to all the mums n bubs slogging it out in the heat wave!!it got to 43 here the other day and i thought i was gonna die! and thats with air con making the house about 31 haha i am a real sook when it comes to heat always knocks me around..

Well it actually got to 41 here yesterday but it didn't feel that hot kwim? I did sleep under the aircon last night though cause I can't sleep when I'm hot, and if I'm hot and sweaty then forget it! I went back to bed at 4am when DH got up for work cause it had cooled down by then. Today will be a bit hotter though I think. I have to change a tyre on the car and go to town and get another one replaced, so that will be fun to do :rolleyes:

MD: i just saw on sunrise that you guys are in for the long haul on the heat front. we get a cool change of 35 degrees on saturday (na na narni na!!!).
mmmm haighs or the hospital? hard choice LOL! if they do let the chocolate melt, time to don the bikini and start a revolution.

Oz: yeah have to agree with Sherie that i too would be turned off if she forgot the appt. glad that there is someone else who sounds great though. I made DH read the latest homebirth story in the birth story section and now he is alot more into the idea...maybe your DH would like it?

Sherie: too right there will be! what is a quiki mart without ALL the slurpee goodness?? i mean seriously. i will be there tonight donning the MEGA cup again, so if he is a good man, he'll have the red and blue in stock. otherwise i will promptly throw a tantrum.

MM: maybe MIL can come to some middle ground re the cake. one layer the choice of yours and the other layer a fruit cake? that way all is good. (and just get her to do the fruit one as the smaller layer on top LOL!).

AFM: well i have had a DH complaining all day and night about the heat. slightly annoying when you are sitting there watching nadal..i mean the tennis...and you are reminded of how hot and still it is. (hence he was kicked out and told to not come home without a slurpee).
Leila has been doing surprisingly well with the heat. last night i had to put the fan on in her room, which always makes me nervous after i saw a today tonight show years ago of fans catching fire. but it did the trick. she woke around 1am needing water but went straight back to sleep. when she woke she downed a whole sippy cup of water!
today is her first day of official kindy. we got outta the car and the girl couldnt stand still for the excitement! didnt even look back when we left. humph. LOL!

all well here. mum boiught me some new mat clothes and sent them up.. in a gorgeous LBD today and loving it! we are going away for the weekend w friends and their 5 month old - cant wait!

girls, not feeling too good today. woke up at 5am, throwing up and the runs.
dh has taken day off work, went to bunnings and bought me a $400 portable air-con.

G, how does the new aircon feel? I hope you're better soon. I was talking to a friend of mine in town and her sister and her DH came down with a tummy bug within a day of each other.

Ange, I always give Alister those lollies, they don't have the nasties like the other lollies do and I've yet to see him get hyper on them LOL, cause there has been times when he's eaten more than I'd like him too thanks to the older kids :rolleyes:

Well I survived the trip to town. The other day (tues) I did a tyre on the way to town, and had to put the spare on, which wasn't pleasant at all being on the side of the highway and all. I gets to town and I knew that no one would have tyres in our size (cause we needed a new on cause the back ones were stuffed anyway) cause they are 18inch, so they have to order them in. The regular place we go to said 'yeah, we could get them in a few days" which knowing them translates into "yeah, we'll have them here by Friday next week if you're lucky" so I went to the other place and the young fella said they didn't have them but if he rang right now (noon) he would have them here by tomorrow (wed). So DH took the one I'd taken off into town yesterday for them to fit it while he was at work and he'd pick it up on the way home cause knowing my luck I would do the other tyre on the way to town and I would have nothing cause the spare was already on. So that's why this morning I had to put the new tyre on the car and go to town to get the other one on. As much as I hate having to change tyres, it's something you have to know how to do - it's the first thing DH taught me when we got together LOL. Plus on our new car it's such a bugger to do cause the spare is underneath the car, so you have to get it out first before you can take the flat off and change it. I also had to get some new jocks for Lindsay and book contact for his books, so I was able to fill in the morning.

I've been MIA lately, bloody internet went down - finally worked out we needed a new modem so after over 2 weeks we are back online - yippi !

I read back a far way but can't recall too much to do personally tonight sorry.

Update for us: Hamish is turning into a little man by the day. He wants to put himself to bed these days, takes his bottle into his room and lays on his mat. We pick him up, put him into his cot and say good night and leave. Within 10 minutes he's asleep with an empty bottle to be collected off the floor. It's a dream for a heavily pregnant mumma who was struggling to hold him while giving him his bottle.

He has started toilet training. Tells me when he needs to do #2 and walks into the toilet, puts his seat in place and waits to be lifted on. He reads a book and sings songs while he waits and regardless of whether he goes or not he MUST get the toilet paper to dab dab dab........ If he manages to do anything - he knows to head to the pantry to duly get his tiny teddy reward. Mind you in 2 weeks his only got 4 rewards but its a start I suspose.

Irritable uterus is still being a major pain in the a$$ well not really more in the front than back - LOL but only another 8 weeks and it's all over. I can do it !!

Hope you are coping in this heat and that the little ones and being good for their mummies.

Sherie: yay on the tyre changing. i have only had to do it once, and that was with a friend and a nice and small sedan. it was an isolated dirt road and the only help we could find were some cows. they chewed cud and told us do the same! LOL! but we got there in the end. needed to use a vacuum cleaner at one stage tho...(yes, we had a vacuum cleaner in the boot).

MM: the fans on fire story was a today tonight special...so no doubt, terribly inaccurate LOL! it's just one of those things that stuck in my mind. needless to say i have 3 on ATM (including in DDs room). it's just waaayyy to hot to not have them on.

PP: i'm glad that the arm seems to be improving. you have had a rough patch these last couple of months! when are you planning on stopping work? i reckon you and DH need to run away somewhere for a weekend delight!

Rainy: hope that the sickness passes. could be a sign for early labour though...i got quite nauseous and had the runs for a couple of days before the big event. make sure you get plenty of fluids though, with it being so hot it's so easy to get dehydrated.
(i know, i know, obvious statement LOL!)

AFM: well all good here. after i read the story about the little girl thrown over the westgate, DH came and picked me up from work and Leila from kindy. so we had a nice impromptu day together. poor DH has really been affected by it.
it's also still sweltering here. a bit cooler than last night though. i think it is 34 or something ATM. so some improvement. have put the shell pool on the front verandah. DH is off getting me my slurpee for the night (quiki mart guy promised that i will have red!), so i will don my swimmers (world is not ready for my public birthday suit LOL!) and sit in the shellpool sipping slurpee and saying hi to the neighbours. ah sweet life!

Clare you crack me up, I am picturing you in your front yard in the clam pool throwing back your slurpee.

JG good to see you back. H sounds so grown up and sounds like TT is going well. I cant believe you only have 8 weeks left.

Trill DH makes me help him change the tyre (when we have had to) he thinks it is something I should know how to do.

AFM - well now that DD1 is off to school everyday, and DH is back at work with no more excuses for taking time off, it's just me and bossy-boots at home most of the day. OMG she is getting that STROPPY about having things her own way. I'm gonna do a sign language intensive, cos it's driving me insane when I don't know what she wants - she now signs more, food, book/read, down/up (hasn't quite worked out the difference between up and down yet LOL) and bath, and washmyface. There are an assortment of words that go along with this but I really need some more signs NOW.

LOL Clare!! Thats hillarious. What is a slurpee anyway, is it like those freeza icey pole block things that take you forever to work your way through? Yep the girl thrown off the bridge has really affected me too, I couldnt get to sleep last night just thinking of it. There's a couple of terrible child abuse stories in the current affairs section of BB atm, it just astounds me the things that parents do to their own children!

Was up at 5am this morn with M, for a bottle. Not too bad, managed to stretch her out till 6am with a dummy until I gave it to her. She has been going SO well lately with the whole bottle situation, keeping my fingers crossed it doesnt all go downhill again.

Girls I cant believe it. I bought a witchery dress last Sunday & it fit me perfectly. I tried it on last night to see what kinda shoes to wear with it, & do you think I could get the zip up!? Its soooo tight, I must have put on weight! Cant believe it, mind you I can this past week I have eated nothing but crap. So as of today, I am on a diet lol.

On a more exciting note, went down to the shops with my sisters (bridesmaids) last night & they found gorgeous bridesmaid dresses, just from forever new, they are so flowy and casual, yet stunning. Cant wait its all coming together now. I even got a little fake bunch of white roses for $2.50 for M's own bouquet, she will look gorgeous.

Katie, well done for saving us from sliding off the page. By the sounds of it, everyone's off sitting in their clam shell wading pools LOL. I'm not - too many meters of scorching hot air between the back door and the start of the clam shell coolness LOL. I've got a date with a swimming pool tonight tho...can't wait!

Well I finally got to speak to my mate ED yesterday (aka Dr Junior Lovely Surgeon) and I'm booked in for my operation, finally, but wait til you hear when....

OK, well I'd better go, DH has just moved our portable aircon to the study so I have NO EXCUSE not to go in there and sift thru all my STUFF today. We've got DD1 lined up for toddler-entertaining duties too LOL. I knew that large age gap would come in handy one day LOL.
