YAY so good to see MD back and in fine form!!! not long til those haighs are where they should be!
Clare I agree re the vid, would be awesome. we got some great pics - s/he kept giving the thumbs up - so adorable!! already more active than Noah I think!!! got some gorgeous profile pics too - it really all feels real now!
hmm no news from rainy....!!!!
Rainy, we did have a few 8 hour nights but of course as soon as I put it on here good old Karma interferred lol. Basically we have had to resort to what is probably some form of comforted crying. I won't feed him overnight anymore and for the most part he will stay asleep or just need a pat or sometimes I have to pick him up and sing (how he sleeps through that is beyond me!!!). We have had a couple of bad nights where he has woken at 3am wanting a feed and it has taken me an hour of cuddling, singing, rocking and pacing to get him back to sleep - this is not helped by DH yelling at me that I have stuffed W's sleeping patterns for life, it is all my fault and my BS ideas aren't fixing it. Grrr. Despite what he thinks, it is working - last night he woke at 9.30pm and then slept until 5.30am which is a massive improvement.
MD, yay to see you back!! Hope you are feeling o.k (or at least have a good fistful of drugs!)
Kate, bummer about your friend moving away. That really sucks.
PAP, if you need to share the burden of knowledge, I am only a PM away lol. Glad it went so well.
Sherie, that must have been stressful shifting as you were about to drop a baby out! Lucky those people were on holiday or they would have had a hugely pregnant lady hounding them lol
Oz, have fun seeing the little fluttering heartbeat tomorrow
Good to see you back MD...Haighs is definately worth waiting for.
PAP - so glad the scan went well today and you saw him (?) all alright and wiggling heaps. I'm sure that N will be up and giving you hell soon enough.
My friends Dh works out of Gladstone (mining) so shes been up there heaps. I'm in Bundy so not too bad but definately not just down the road like she is now.
Good luck Arte on getting W into a great sleeping routine. I'm still trying to get Sarah to sleep past 5am.
Hope everyone has a great night. And good luck on the scan Oz
Oh I'm going bonkers again. I can see Kate has posted this evening but no matter how many links I click on, i can't find her post?? Too many painkillers???
ETA- Ok, finally flushed you out Kate. LOL Kate what time does S go down for the night? Missy E goes to bed around 8 pm, usually sleeps until 8 am-ish. Does S do a solid 10-12 hours at all?
morning everyone
Kate - I hear you on the early riser... i am not sure how to break this habit with N, I have tried giving him a bottle and rocking him back to sleep and occasionally that works... when he does go to bed a bit later i dont really notice he sleeps much later (maybe til 6) but maybe i need to try that? though he is so tired by the end of the day, at the moment we bath sometime b/n 6.30 and 7 and then he is asleep by about 7.30... hmmmmm
i also wanted to ask you guys - he is going through a really really weird phase, wanted to know if any of you have similar.. he is super clingy to me at night, if he wakes he cries and yells out for me, and if DH goes in he goes mental... and yells out more for me but really cries. we have never had anything like this, and DH is very very hands on.. it is quite upsetting for dh and also exhausting for me as i have to do all the settling if he wakes... anyone?? what could this be?
Hope the scan goes well today Katie - let us know!
PP L is doing something similar to N at the moment. If I put him in his cot awake he just screams and I have to sit and rock him to sleep. He wont settle for DH either. He woke at 11.30 last night and it took me half an hour to get him back to sleep. We have put it down to teething and hope it changes very soon. We are also having some separation anxiety issues.
Scan isn't until this afternoon. Its nice having DH home today.
MD- Good to see you back
Noni- Poor Asha hope she is on the mend. Wow not long now for the wedding how exciting. Also glad you are ok.
Katie- Good luck for the scan today.
Early Riser- Livi wake up around 6am the boys are around the same time too.
AFM- We are good. DH comes home today so we are really excited he has only been
gone 1 night and we are really missing him.
aahhhh, i just lost the plot with lewis. i feel so bad now!
he just refused to go to sleep, even though he's tired...he just mucks around and laughs and acts like an idiot. he's driving me crazy. it took me about 45mins to finally get him asleep. he just seems so naughty atm and it's getting me really frustrated and stressed. is anyone else going through this?
Welcome back MD, glad it all went well and you have a big box there to tuck into when you're up to it.
PAP - we have the opposite to you, DD calms a lot more for DH than for me when she's upset. Sorry, can't help.
Kate - bummer about your friend moving away.
Oz - good luck at the scan
Arte - that is great sleeping that W is doing compared to before! Keep doing what you're doing.
I'm heading up to Sydney for training tomorrow. Have just over 2 hours between it finishing and my plane leaving so hoping to hit the shops!! My parents are coming down this afternoon and are going to look after K for the day tomorrow lucky thing. She had a big sleep in this morning (just before 7) which was nice.
Rainy, I have lost it with W a few times lately. I am really struggling with the whole follow-me-and-whinge thing. It often takes 45 minutes to get W to sleep, I feel your pain. I just realised I am not on the baby-text list - I will PM you my number. If you could be so kind to enter me under my real name - aaajodie, that would be great lol.
Cally, good luck getting some shopping done. I get so flustered that I wouldn't even attempt to go to the shops if I needed to fly out in 2 hours (says the girl that missed a flight because we stopped for KFC lol)
Art- Liv mushed a bicky in the carpet the other day...
Rainy- Liv walks around behind me sookin sometimes too I know she does it for attention. Maybe they sense that you are having a baby cause the boys did the same when I was pg with liv.
Just a quick one for G. Yeah we've just come out the other side of that. I have no idea what brought it on, but it was taking ages to get him to have a sleep and I would just leave him in his cot - he wasn't crying, but tantruming as soon as I would put him in there even when he was clearly tired and would normally have gone to sleep without a fuss. Same with bedtime - in the end I just left him up till up to 10pm sometimes till he was too tired to fight and he would only protest for a little while - again there was no crying just the tantrum. I had to leave him up cause there was no way the other three could go to sleep while he was making such a racket. It's only been since Sunday that he's gone back to normal. It did coincide with the start of the really hot weather and there was refusal of milk, but I don't think that was the sole cause because he didn't stop once the cool change came through. But now he's back to having normal milk feeds (although he did drop his arvo one, but I had an idea that was going to happen soon anyway) and sleeping. So I don't know what I can suggest that would help cause there was nothing I actually did to stop it, I just persevered with putting him to bed and leaving him there kwim? Cause if I kept getting him up, he would whinge the whole time anyway cause he was so tired. Either way, I really hope it passes soon for you hun
I am sooo bored. DH is away, we don't have T.V, and I have nothing to look at on the entire internet!!
So I am going to have myself a little vent:
The other day W started saying his own name. It seemed to be followed by a lightbulb moment of self-awareness - he had realised he is his own person and as such can do what he wants! He has always been such a helpful and compliant baby but now he stops to consider every request and decide if it is what HE want to do. Apparently he is enjoying the right to refuse breakfast, he packs a wobbley if he doesn't get what he wants (usually something he isn't allowed) RIGHT NOW, and today he even cracked it bigtime because I had the nerve to offer him a.....broken cracker! He must have WHOLE crackers/biscuits, anything less and he will cry and throw them.
On the flip side, it is very cute when he names his items, 'william bed', 'william car', 'william hut' and when he points at himself and says William. And if he likes something he will give it a kiss to show that it makes him happy.
I really hope that it passes soon, but I have an idea that self-awareness is one of the reasons for the terrible twos?
MD, I meant to welcome you to the next corn-off. Do you think we should get member badges printed? I am intrigued by the addition of the pumpkin category - will this be judged by quantity, quality or size? Because personally I have always dreamed of growing a giant pumpkin.
It seems a lot of us are going through very similar stages with our little ones. I am so glad I am not alone and hope it passes for each of us soon.
Had my scan I am 7 weeks today, my dates were pretty much spot on. All is good with bubs and thankfully there was only one lol. Went and had my bloods done too. Best be off and get Logan settled. Will jump back on later.
Arte: name badges would be very awesome. i too wanna join this corn-off...i have an itch i need to scratch LOL! also i just LURVE roast corn! mmmmm.
oohh wooo on the toddler tanty over the biccies LOL! go will! leila tends to confine her fussiness to her water bottles (ie. NO, i want THAT one!).
and yeah we get lots of pointing at oneself and small but satisfied 'leilas' from her mouth...she just loves it. hasnt morphed into any ownership yet though...
Rainy: we had that a few weeks ago too...unfort there wasnt much to be done except just grinning and bearing it our in our case. just be persistent and consistent with him, i reckon that this is a big moment in their lives, when, like arte says they gain this self awareness and then need to satisfy this knowledge by questioning your system ITMS.
PP: oooh i do like those profile pics. my fav of Leila though is the front shot of her face. i could already make out her stubborn chin...LOL!
oh, and i am guessing PINK!!
Leanne: that's really interesting that the kids picked up on the pregnancy. did they seem to sense when time was close?
Kate: ouch! 5am is hard! i firmly believe (and have told leila numerous times LOL!) that anything before 6.30am is un-called for LOL!!
it's good that your mate knows gladstone. it's actually not too bad and the council has been putting in some nice services up there lately like with the library and art gallery. and you're right bundy isnt too far. maybe nice weekend trips!
AFM: all good here. had mums group today and indulged in another coffee granita...mmmm love those things on a hot day. miss L decided that naps are for pansies today so went from 7am to 7pm without ONE SINGLE shut-eye. and unfortunately she coped really well! mummy on the other hand is a shell of her former self! went to kmart today as they had a big sale on kids clothes and would you believe that i picked up organic cotton shorts for .75c!!!!!!!! bargain of the month i'd say. they are too cute as well. also lots of bonds bargains: got t-shirts for $3. great for kindy!
DH has been laying on the heavy hints re TTC! this morning he was resting his head on my belly as i lay on the couch and told me he can't wait until he can feel a baby kick again!!! it's quite nice i must admit to have him say things like that.
Clare, your DH sounds cute. Do you guys have a TTC plan or is it up in the air a bit atm? I am completely dreading the day that W decides he doesn't need a day nap, I just about fell apart when he went from 2 naps to 1 lol
I wouldn't be surprised if kids pick up on pregnancy, my cat knows when I am preg and brings me all sorts of fantastic gifts - so far this time I have had two birds and the rear end of a mouse lol
