don't think i can justify another carrier, but i'm soooo tempted. i love red!! but dh will kill me....
pap- mmm, i'm starting to change my mind just a little bit on the mb...idk if lewis has had a growth spurt or what, but his head is almost touching the roof now! i had massive dramas yesterday putting it in the back of the car with the 2kids- i'm not sure how convenient it is iykwim? i mean, it's great if you just leave it all assembled and then go for walks straight from home (what i normally do) but it's a bit of a pita to have 'out and about'...idk...i wonder what ange thinks of hers?...tbh though, i really don't think lewis is going to fit in mine all that much longer...

thanks for the MB feedback, i have heard similar from another friend and to be honest this is part of why we havent got a pram yet... i think a lot of my pramming last time was in and out of car and walking from there... so waiting to see how it all pans out this time... i appreciate the feedback though...

yeah it's not the sort of pram you want to be pulling in and out of your car all the time. is N a big kid? if lewis has another growth spurt his head will be poking through the roof.
do you think the close carrier is all that different from the hab? have you got a hab too? i just think they're too similar to justify it.
i'm going to kmart tomorrow with my new cash and on my list is:
colouring textas
colouring books
playdough cutters, shapes
building blocks
....what else do i need to keep little man entertained?

Playdough is sooo easy to make G.
Put the following in a bowl:
2 Cups plain flour
4 Tablespoons cream of tartar
2 Tablespoons oil
1 Cup salt
Food coloring
Add 2C of boiling water and mix.
It takes about 3 min all up.
As for the MB, i am with you a bit. Lu is almost too big for it as well. It is a fantastic pram but not sure how long we will get use out of it. ALthough today it was great as both of them slept in it and i didn't have to carry one if i didn't feel like it. I do like how sturdy and comfy it is for the girls. The other good thing about them is that they have great resale on ebay. So when she is too big i'll sell it and get a single MB for Sassy. (Although having said tht if we have another reasonaly close i'll prob keep it. ;) )
Mum and dad have an adventure buggy with a skate board. Lu LOVES it. I know it's no good on the gravel and hills, but if i lived in town, i'd prob be running with that.
As for the close carrier. I have seen one in action. I was very tempted. They do look great, although G, they are basically a HAB that you don't have to tie as much, they have a clip instead. So as i have a HAB i can't really justify it. Having said that i could trade one i guess. lol I would really like one, as well as a sling. greedy i know!! Although at the special price i might have to go and have a look. ;)
Arte- Specificic issues..... she yells at the top of her voice "mumma mumma mummma" Just to get my attention or if i am talking to someone. Anytime she is not the centre of attention really. I try "lets just use our quiet voice" Or " We don't yell inside/in the car/ when i'm talking etc. " If i ask her not to do something, like shake the crap out of Sas's cradle, she does it again and i put her in time out in the hallway. After a minute she hops up and i explain we don't shake the cradle we need to be gentle or it will hurt the baby. She will go straight back and do it again. Looking at me smuggly generally. so we repeat the process. Then i end up picking sas up b/c she doesn't respond to the timeout. I KNOW she understands, but she doesn't care if she has to have time out. She sits there and sings or plays with her toes. :rolleyes:
Clare- i didn't have fish or garam marsala but you inspired me to cook a chicken curry last night with coconut milk. I put apple and sultanas in it and Lu LOVED it. Thanks. :D
S- DH is sowing and spraying. Almost done, but we need some rain too. fingers crossed we get some, you too of course!
mil here. drives me metal but my house will be clean! :lol:

Falguni - Good luck with the MIL. Like you said, at least the house will be kept clean & you dont have to worry about it. Love the idea of apples & sultana's in the curry!! M does the mumma mumma yelling that starts off at a normal level and quickly escalates to full blown yelling!
Arte - Not really telling anyone yet. Our families dont know. However the girls at work know, they guessed it. I am showing already, I'm embarrased to say that seeing as I am only 5 friggen weeks along, but I just feel like I'm bloated. Also I had mentioned to them that we were trying & when I went in to work on Mon they were all eagerly wanting to know if I'd tested & had any luck, while looking at my bloated belly!!! Also my friend who dotes over M knows & she is thrilled. I am a huge fan of Amelia & I think William & Amelia go together nicely.
Rainy - Bummer about the pram. Wish I could afford the carrier too, but my DH would also not be happy! Do you know much about the phil & teds with the seat underneath? Have been checking them out when mums walk past in the shops with them. If you have an ikea close by, they have a great little artist easle in the kids section, I would imagine that would be entertaining & can be used for drawing & painting.
Oz - Thanks for that, I feel exactly the same as you felt. So darn tired, & when M wakes up during the night, or wont go to sleep easily, or just bugs me in general I cant control myself. I feel like I've been such a grumpy bum mumma lately. I took her to the park today to get out & we had a great day together. I try to make it up to her like you do with L.
PAP - Thanks!!!! I am also SO SO excited for you!!!! The countdown is on. I know what you mean about your ttc friends. Even in the ttc thread, I literally posted about 10 posts in that thread before I got a bfp while some ladies have been there months. I wish it wasnt so hard for some people, especially those who deserve children & would be great parents iykwim?
Where is MD, was her chemo starting this wk have forgotten?
Darn toddler bed.....we have spent the past two weeks putting M back to bed for half the night, the other night it got to 10.30 & she was still getting up. Decided I didnt want to deal with that tonight & put her into the cot & as she knows she cant escape, she went to sleep perfectly. Anyone have the same issues? I have thought about getting a safety gate to put on her door so she gets the idea that she can get out of bed but wont be able to come into the lounge with us.
I am inspired to make playdough tomorrow!

Gypsy we are having bed issues too. I try to put him in his big bed and if it doesnt work I just put him in his cot, to be honest I am being a little lazy about it lol. I felt so bloated right from the time i got my BFP too. I am huge now.
Ange lucky you having MIL to come and clean the house. Does she dote on the girls?
Rainy woo hoo on spending up, I went to the $2 shops for lots of playdoh cutters etc. One of L's fave toys is his tea set, he loves to spend the day making me food and tea lol.

Ange, maybe try the timeout for a little longer - they say a minute per year of age. If she's in there for a full 2 minutes will that help? Have you tried putting her in timeout repeatedly? Once is ok, I bet she'll get the message once it's her fourth time in quick succession LOL! Just make sure you are not inadvertantly rewarding the behaviour by giving her extra attention before she goes into T/O, kwim?
Gypsy, yep, toddler bed worked in our house (DD1) because the door handles are too high for little ppl to open! LOL Even after she went into the big bed, we would sometimes find her asleep on the floor behind the door, where she would get up, and play with her toys in the light coming thru the crack under the door LOL. See I knew all this when I decided to keep Missy E in her cot for a few extra months LOL.
BTW Chemo starts on Monday, it's a day-clinic treatment, go in and have the IV for a few hours then come home with pills to take for a few days. STEROIDS. So watch out the roid rage at my end next week. PMSL.
Katie, great idea to get playthings at $2 shop. You save a fortune.
OK, better go, Missy E has her very first personal birthday party invite today. My dear old schoolfriend's DD is turning 2...it's very exciting cos she's 38+ weeks preggers so about to have another little precious huggable baby any day now!!! (Trying hard not to be jealous...)!

For those of you having trouble entertaining the wee little mites, get a few small boxes/tubs and have a theme in each one - colouring stuff in one (pencils paper etc), playdough in another, dress ups in one and teasets in another etc and give them a variety of things so if you have a run of wet days etc they have something different each day so they don't get sick of it all at once.
with all the mb talk I had a look at some online and OMG they are exxie!!! Ange, we always used a skateboard for Lindsay and Erin when they were kicked out of the pram for the new baby LOL. But they always loved it too.
I am really hanging out for the mei tais to arrive in Melbels store so I can get it sent out. I am really missing not having anything to wear him in as the hotsling really doesnt' feel that secure now.
We still aren't looking at putting Alister in a bed till he's at least two, so we will probably go bunk shopping at the end of the year. I have no idea how we will stop him climbing up to the top one, but I think DH will have to build a cover for the ladder to stop him.

Another thing, you can add rice or glitter (or both) to playdough for a different texture & look.

MD - Ohhh lucky you. We are so tempted to turn the door handles upside down. Yay for your friend having another bubba, its so exciting for them but even I've noticed when friends are having babies I am just as excited as they are!

Well I used timeout today for the first time with success. She sat there for about a min & had a little cry, so afterwards I gave her a hug & talked to her about what she'd done wrong, she cheered up & didnt do it again. Maybe this is the way to go for us, as saying no & hand taps dont seem to be getting through.
Ok bit of an unrelated q, but maternity jeans, I know I am getting in early but I am already having to unbutton the button on my skinnies (& I highly doubt I will be wearing skinny jeans at 20 wks onwards!!!) & I was going to buy jeans last wk, DH made me wait in case I was utd. So.....can anyone recommend any?? Last time I didnt bother with jeans.

Another cold and wet day here today, L and I did some baking and read lots of books. He really hates not being able to go outside. I think tomorrow we will put the easle up under the patio and do some painting.

Katie, Alister hates being inside too, so I don't know how we'll go with wet weather because we haven't really had any so far this year LOL. But it's really super windy here today.

When I went to town today I decided to have a spending spree on myself and brought shoes. I brought a pair of nike runners - not that they will ever be used for running ROFL, but my old ones were worn out. And I brought another pair of black casuals that have the strap over the foot by Pure Comfort and they are just so soft and luffly to wear. They even came with an envirobag. The biggest thing about buying those was I couldn't get the usual DF supersoft ones I have been buying for the past 8 YEARS so I got these ones instead. I did get them to order me some DF's though LOL, I just love them to death to ever stop buying them. I justify this by telling myself it is premptive sprending of the money I will get back for the education tax refund when I claim for half of the laptop cost ;).

Trill - LOL at your preemptive strike - I mean, spend! LOL I did an op shoppy tour and found a FANTASTIC pair of DFs (look like they'd been worn once, around the house maybe) and just what I needed so thinking of retuning the cheap and nasties I got at the cheap shoe shop now! V.excited about the woolly!! :clap: :)
The birthday party was great - it was basically a little morning tea with a few family members and maybe 6 little friends - no games or anything, but it was a lovely day today so they were all happy just playing and eating. Just goes to show that sometimes the simpler things work better than the fancy ones! Lovely to catch up with my friend too!
ETA - forgot to mention I layby'd a naaaasteh "Barbie" wooden kitchen yesterday! Actually it's a sweetie, bit smaller than some of the more expensive ones but in our price range AND wooden unlike the plastic monstrosities I've seen around the place. Not sure if it will be for birthday or Christmas yet. Am gonna ask knitting Nanna to knit some pretend food for her. Can't be too hard!!

Gypsy, I was huge at the start of this preg but it must have been bloating because at 24 weeks I am still wearing my normal clothes. I am cheap so I am probably just going to buy a couple of pairs of track pants to get me through the next few months, it is freezing anyway, they will be nice and warm. I do have a couple of leftover pants from last time for if I have to leave the house.
Woke up yesterday morning to about 3-4inches of snow, this morning it has frosted over what didn't manage to melt yesterday and it is freezing!!!

gyp- i got some mat jeans from target, pretty good value i reckon.
we went out to dinner last night with a $100 voucher we got given from the hospital when i had jimmy. dropped lewis off at dad's and just took jimmy with us. jimmy was wearing his new oobi overalls (a present from auntie ange- thank you!) and he looked so darn cute, all the ladies were ooing and ahhhing over his cuteness!! got back to dad's and lewis had emptied out the whole bottom section of his pantry and spread the stuff all over the kitchen table and my dad and brother were sitting there laughing and having a ball with him making a mess. very funny! was nice to go out but the kids wereboth pretty tired and cranky when we got home. don't think we'llbe doing that again anytime soon!

Oz: hope you guys are okay up there! many friends of mine have been well and truly under water in brisvegas. nothing quite like building a city on a floodplain huh? LOL! i saw on the news about that poor real estate guy that got done in by flying debris. scary stuff.
Sherie: i had to giggle at your shoe story! i too have similar 'obsessions'. i must MUST always have a pair of baxter laughing boots in my cupboard...in fact i have a pair on now LOL! take the girl outta the country...
MD: woot woo on the kitchen find! is is a barbie (as in mattel) one??! and NOT plastic?! pretty awesome. we are thinking of getting miss L a dolly cradle as ATM we have *dramas* when she throws dolly into her cot and then cant get her out again...

AFM: well we have a wee shocker this week. miss L has had the lurgy to beat all lurgies (she doesnt smell piggy, so not swine flu LOL!). and now (you can probably relate Gypsy) she has her first ever ear infection! yesterday she kept pulling at one ear and saying 'sore' sore' 'bua' 'bua' (italian for sore). so took her to the GP and now is on ABs. feel a bit sad as this is the first time she has needed anything like that before...
also, feeling really bummed as i spent $40 on the blackmores pre-conception supplement, but i spend the following hour after taking it with my head in the toilet. GP reckons i have an adverse reaction to one of the ingredients. yay for me. so now we have to go through them all and work out what it is. probably something to do with the iron issues. bummer.

sorry i'm about to read through your posts, but i have to share this with you first.
I've been trying to get Hannah to sleep for the past hour. (she's been happy in her cot, but noisy - and climbed out twice) anyway, she's been quiet so i just went in to check on her......and she's not in her cot. I got such a fright, but then i could hear her snoring (she's got a cold) she's asleep under her cot!!!!!!! I'm just going to leave her there, but i bet she wakes up with a fright! Cheeky little monkey.:p

ok, so just had a quick read.
Ange - i was having the same issues with Hannah yelling at me. The thing that worked for me was everytime she yelled, I would say "no, say Mummy?" in a nice little sweet voice. I kept doing it for a day or so, and she eventually got it. Now if she yells at me I say "what do you say to Mummy, and she then says it sweetly. Sometimes she realises that i'm not listening to the yelling, and she does it herself. It's so cute. Has Lulu got a doll of her own? Could you possibly make a cradle for it using an old nappy box. Maybe then she'll leave Sas alone. (or maybe not ;) )
md - I bought A New Earth last week. I need to take control of my fears. I've just got to find some time to start reading it! I love your new haircut too. Has the doc told you what kind of side effects to expect with the chemo?

Jaz that is soooo adorable. Did you take a photo of her? Yeah we got tones of rain down here and the wind was unbelievable. Any damage around you? Thankfully today is sunny and I have two loads of washing on the line, we are off to buy a dryer tomorrow.

hi katie - i had to pick the girls up early from school on Wednesday, 'cause the creek near the school was rising rapidly. It was all an adventure (for them and me!) We didn't get any damage, but some suburbs got soo much water. Thankfully we didn't have the wind like you guys. It looked terrible down there.
