I am sooooo Pumped!!! I just pulled my first lamb! I had to have help from our neighbour though as he was absolutely massive and no way known could I have gotten it out myself. It was dead though unfortunately but it's twin is alive and well so I bought it home because we don't think the ewe will make it as the lamb dead inside her for too long and they usually get blood poisoning when that happens. I've never seen a lamb so big either - we brought him home and weighed him and he was a whopping 7kg - the average lamb is only about 4kg. Needless to say Mum was very happy to have it out of her. The kids are excited about having a poddy lamb as we haven't had one for a few years.

awww lewis would love to have a baby lamb around, how cute sherie. good work on pulling the dead one out, i hope the poor mum is ok...
cally- do you love lizzie and vance 'together' or is that just me? i cried my eyes out when she had the baby.
sorry i've been a little mia and stressed lately. lewis has been downright miserable with an ear infection and it has really been getting me down.
dh has to go to sydney to go to court on wed for the little bouncer incident at xmas.

You're not going to go with him? I hope he just gets a rap over the knuckles and a stern reminder to not be such a peanut next time. How are you going with getting L to have his abs? I meant to reply in your other thread about it. We usually have a hell of a time getting Alister to have any for the first few times till he realises that it tastes yummy and then he sits there like a little bird waiting for it. With all other medicine though, I have to lay him across my lap, tuck the arm closest to me in under my arm, hold his other arm and then squirt it in really quickly by jamming the needle down the side of his mouth. Then I give his throat a quick rub to make him swallow it and jobs done. Feels like you've been in a wrestling match LOL but it does the trick. Poor little boy though, I hope it's not too much longer for him and it stops hurting.

we've been putting it in his milk, we just could not get it into him with the syringe. he seems heaps better today, so hoping he's over it.
i hope dh gets found not guilty. it's already cost us 4.5k in lawyers. i'm not going, too much hoo-ha for the kids.

Not to mention the Dragon-In-Law :rofl: Glad to hear that he's OK today, once the abs kick in and start to take away some of the painful-ness of it they can manage pretty well.

Cally - excellent work on the pink-cupcake spotting! It's lovely when they string words, isn't it. E has a few phrases that she rolls out but then every so often she will put the words together differently & it's so exciting!
Pregpan, I reckon you should go with the pink party theme - it's prolly the last time he'll ever ask for one LOL. Only joking, ee I ee I oh is awesome.
Katie - I LOLed about you forgetting & eating too much. I bet the jumpy castle was a hit.
Sherie - far out, the lambing moment would be awesome. You're a proper farmer's wife now LOL.
Ginger - Big week, hope it all goes well for your DH. I'm sure he will have learnt his lesson - lets hope they can see it was a once-off. Good to hear L is on the improve. Missy E had an ear infection and I think it was bothering her before I twigged cos I can't believe how behaved & happy she's been since the ABs kicked in.
Well we went out for a 50th last night - took our girls plus my neice as I've run out of babysitting favors for the month, and Missy E surprised everyone by staying chipper, eating *everything* served up for the banquet then bopping on long after my pyjama call. LOL Very good night, so glad we opted to go even with the kids. None of them slept in today but everyone was happy this arvo so I'm expecting some grumpies tomorrow.

AFM: ok here! leila is better (YAY!). went to the homeshow, gosh so glad this nice man came up and gave me free tickets as it was horrendous. too many people and when there are too many people in a small space humanity becomes rather stupid (JMO of course :lol:). but got some good-ish ideas (or rather saw some real life examples of the stuff we're interested in.

Trill - Wow go you! Sounds amazing, but sounds very gruesome for the mummy sheep having a dead huge lamb pulled out of her :( I hope she makes it, let us know how she goes. The kids will love having a lamby around, how exciting would that be, your kids must learn so much growing up on a farm. I am such a city person but I'd give it up anyday for the country life, it all comes down to money though. I grew up in the country I'd love that for my kiddies. Thanks, will keep my eyes open for those vitamins you suggested.
Rainy - Sorry to hear L has had an ear infection, they are always terrible. I hope it goes soon, the AB's usually work fast.
What time is everyone sending their kiddly winks to bed? We dont have much of a set time or routine anymore, she just goes when she is tired. Last night she refused until just after 11, ridiculous, DH & I were ready for bed at 9!! Its now almost 9pm here & I've just put her down to bed, boy did she scream & tantrum. I put her night light on & had to close the door, she has calmed down but still chatting away, she's on her bed but hopefully will nod off soon. When & why did going to bed become so hard?!

MM, we do bedtime at 8-8.30pm. If he is really tired/awake it can be a bit earlier/later, but ususally it is in the range. We were having heaps of problems with it getting later and later but now DH wakes him up no later than 6am when he is getting ready for work and it has shifted the whole pattern into a more reasonable range. I also have a cutoff for day naps, if he isn't asleep by 2pm then he misses out. If he falls asleep in the car or on the couch later than that then I wake him up no later than 4pm. TBH, we really need a bit of kid free time in the evening.
MD, yay for well-behaved kids! It is great when you can go out and have a good time and not have to worry about tantruming bored tired bubs.
Trill, well done on the lamb heroics. We have been thinking of getting a lamb for the yard but I can't be bothered with the shearing dilema when you only have a pet one. When I was a kid my cow got a calf stuck in her, it was dead and the vet had to reach up inside and cut it to bits with piano wire. It came out in about 5 chunks, then the cow stood there making the saddest moo ever while eating the calfs entrails!
Ginger, hope L is getting better and that everything goes o.k with the courtcase. Are you going to your dads while your DH is away?

mm-lewis goes to bed about 8.30-9pm and jimmy goes to bed about 10-10.30pm. crazy late, i know, but we've played around with it and this is what results in maximum sleep so we just go with it.
arte- i still don't know what to do while dh is away...i mean it would be easiest to just stay home as the kids sleep way better here but i get myself all worked up an scared at night......idk....i still have to decide....
clare- i tend to keep away from anything that looks like it might have a crowd..eg. chadstone at xmas is like hell to me.

Ginger, could someone come to stay with you? Would your dad come over for a couple of nights?
Clare, forgot to say that it is fantastic that L's mouth has cleared up - I felt so bad for her.

I hope the case goes well - I reckon he has learned his lesson with the 4.5K! what do you get as compensation for that spend - i reckon at least a 50% of that on shopping.... how is L feeling? is he sick of choc milk yet LOL?!?
Clare - so glad L's mouth is clearing up! so what are you planning to do to the house? have you taken your pic with the sold sign yet?
MM - Noah is asleep by 8 each night, we start his bath at about 6.45 and take it from there.. depends how many books he gets out of me. he is soo tired by then there is no way i could keep him up later all the time but there are times he stays up later - if we are out or have people over... he gets up at about 6 these days... At the moment J is 'settled' around 9 or 10.. but i wouldnt call that bed time as he has a booby call within 2 hours of that LOL! i like having an earlier night time for N as we get some time to ourselves - its the only time we can have an uninterruped conversation or watch something on tv and we have dinner then too.
Sherie - wow on the lamb!!!! how gorgeous if y9ou have a lamb for the kids to play with etc. i am looking for some sort of farm stay with N, while we are in this area where there are lots of them/. i think he would love to see all the animals up close (he loves colling wood chikdrens farm in melb). the novelty of our ee i ee i oh theme woudl prob be lost on your kids i guess!!! is today the day you find out whats up with A (sorry lost track of whats happeningwhen)
MD - WTG on the party - sounds wonderful andi love when the kids surprise us and have such a wonderful time so we can also enjoy ourselves more!

all is good here. we had a great weekend with N - he is so delightful atm. his walking/physical activity has really improved since we got him new shoes and he ran around heaps yest - not biggie for most of you but he was doing so well and having such a great time! we went to my cousins for lunch yest and he had a ball playing with their rabbit snowy and with my other cousins who were down from syd (the ones we went out with on fri). then we met friends by the lake and he ran around with all the biggers kids up and down the hills etc - loved it! he seems to really love older kids - i think bc they talk to him so much! he was KNACKERED last night! i think he has a cold again poor little guy... i guess they all do at this time of yr!
Cally - oooh he will love the pink cupcakes at the cafe at lilli pilli. and he is now looking fwd to muffins and ice cream with katie!
ok so this week I HAVE to plan N's party.... it is craxy i havent done anytyhing for it yet... prob is DH doesnt want to have it at home... and I do!! the weathe rhere is too unpredictable to plan an outdoor venue like one of the parks etc... do you think i should tell kids to dress up?

8.00 is bedtime here - tho sometimes earlier if needed or later if we get distracted or dinner is late. Once the toothbrushing happens she knows it's bedtime and cuddles etc proceed quite quickly from there. I think you will find you'll get less resistance if there's a set pattern, plus they tend to get crankier and less compliant the tireder they are, kwim?
Ginger - aw - hugs re being alone. I'm not a good one to ask because I always felt that way but had to suck it up...I found little rituals like keeping a light on and double checking the doors were locked helped me.
Pregpan - yeah go the dressups I reckon - it'll be fun!!

MM: hmm, no real advice on the bedtime hours. leila is a 7pmer...but we do have a few rituals that signify that bed time is coming (we also tell her about 5 mins to)..we do bath time between 6.15-6.30 and pyjamas then milk then book then we have to say goodnight to all the animals. then bed...she is usually zonked by 7pm. of course if we have guests or go out she goes later and seems to be ok. maybe like MD suggested, try an earlier time (like before she gets overtired IYKWIM). of course you prolly tried this a bazzillion times lol! most of the bubs in my MG go down around 8 - 8.30...
G: i too would get freaked out when DH commuted to the gong every week. sooo, i was norti and would have the dog sleep in the hall (she usually ended up on my bed :rolleyes:). i chose the hall as it was halfway between my room and leila's, and it made me feel safer in that she would/could hear anything that wasnt right ITMS.
PP: we all love a dress up party! leila loves dress ups...
Arte: oh man, that is so sad about the cow. she must have been so distressed.
not much to report here. my nose is currently running like a tap, my computer caught on fire (so am stealing someone elses ATM), leila is back at kindy dominating the 'dinosaur corner' and i have JUST realised while typing this that i am covered in PINK flour.

um yeah i thought about dad staying here, but he's a bit of a 'set in your ways' kind of person iykwim? and doesn't like too much disruption in his life or he gets anxious. he's nearly 70 and doesn't like leaving his cat, so i don't really want to ask him to stay overnight. i'm sure he will pop up to visit and give me a hand during the day though which is nice. i think i'm just going tohave to suck itup and attempt to stay here by myself. if i get really freaked out on the first night then i will head to dad's the next morning, but i'm going to give it a crack by myself first. i might just sit on bb and talk to you guys lol
i'm going to attempt to put the sample draft of our party invite in the sep fb group for you guys to see. marlene from bb has done it. tell me what you think.

Arte - YUCKY cow story while eating my lunch!!!
Cricket bat in Sydney - yeah a bit crazy and he was pretty out of it when he got home last night, but the place he went to has every bat under the sun so he could test them all out. $800+ later, he has a new bat.... It better last longer than the last one (which was less than 2 seasons)
Bedtime - 7:30 K goes and picks some books, then we head into K's room and read them, put sleeping bag on, kisses for the other parent, then into the cot and asleep. Usually we're out of her room before 7:50. She knows it's coming as we do pj's out in the family room about 10 minutes beforehand if it isn't bath night. We need the quiet time in the evenings just to have to ourselves.
