Just found our baby group yah
I had jayden a week ago we are going great at the moment he is a good feeder and sleeper
Ella has had a hard time but seems to be coming around to having a brother
Cant believe he is here and healthy i cant stop looking at him!
I'm jumping on the bandwagon a little late but thought this might be a nice way of getting in touch with other mums and bubs of similar age.
I gave birth to my first bub, a little girl, Quinn, on 29 April 2011 at Prince of Wales Private. She was just over 8 pounds (3.68kg) and 54cm - quite a solid little unit
I'm currently on mat leave and happy to meet up with any of you for coffee, walks or whatever else we can manage (!) around Darlinghurst, Paddo, Surry Hills, Potts Point etc ...
Look forward to getting to know you all and your lovely bubs
Welcome Darlo Mum. Your little girl and mine were born on the same day We both have royal wedding babies lol. Unfortunately I don't live in Sydney but I hope to come to one of the meet ups....... eventually lol.
Well had Phoebe weighed and she is now 6.42kg and has grown another cm so now 65cm.
Kim: Sounds like you've got a lot going on with your family . Good luck for Phoebe's appointment tomorrow - I hope it's good news! . Sounds like she's growing really well .
Welcome Darlos Mum! Another baby girl - yay! The majority of babies from this thread are boys! My baby girl Adele is actually a May baby (2nd May), but I was due 29th April, so went through my pregnancy with most of the lovely ladies here.
Adele is going great. She's such a chubba! I think she was about 7.2kg when we weighed her last week, and she was 60cm long when I took her in for her in to the clinic at 3 months. She rolled for the first time yesterday - from tummy to back and only to the left though! She hasn't done it since though - those silly arms just keep getting in the way! I looked it up, and she rolled at almost the exact same age as her big brother - only two days later.
Adele is still sleeping fairly well. I'm only up once or twice a night usually, and I'm happy enough with that. I'm just hoping she keeps it up and doesn't go downhill like DS did!
I got my fancy new pram (Baby Jogger City Select) on the weekend and I am loving it so much! At the moment we have it so DS and Adele face each other, which means Adele can see me too. She seems quite happy in it. Now I just need the weather to clear up so I can go walking!
I'm still having some challenges with the breastfeeding... and I think my milk is starting to dry up as a result. My flow is really pathetic - it takes ages to letdown, and when it does it is really slow. I've not leaked at all, and now have an untouched pack of breast pads and a two sleeping bras. And because the flow is so poor, Jacob ends up giving up after 3 or so sucks because he's not getting anything, so he's getting frustrated and i'm getting frustrated, so I'm now mainly expressing (which is soooooo incredibly boring). And even then my best job was 90ml after 30mins on each breast on Wed, but gradually reducing, only 50mls just now. Sigh. It's only been a week and a half and I am starting to resign myself to the fact that I'll be bottle feeding him formula. Not what I wanted at all, cos I was so so so keen to breastfeed, so am devastated.
Things are going really well here, i cant complain at all. Ethan is sleeping really well - some nights we are 6-7 hours overnight which is great, eating well and and is generally a happy little bub.
Im sure the great sleeping will change - but i will enjoy it and be thankful for it while i can
We are having one unsettled period every day or so , where he is restless for about an hour or so then he will settle down. Luckily this is normally at about 6pm, not overnight!
Shelly, we are having the opposite problem with Ethans clothes, all his cute outfits are 000 or bigger - but he is still in 0000 - which are still big on him. He is putting on weight nicely though which is good.
Heading in to my work tomorrow to show him off for the second time - but this will be my first adventure on my own with him - DH will be at home in case i need him!
Thankfully i have him home for another few weeks yet - so we are able to share the load on everything - im sure it will be different when he goes back to work - after being here with us for 7 weeks.
I cant believe how quickly time has gone - he will be 4 weeks tomorrow, my first mothers day has been and gone, and we now have ourselves in a little routine! Hopefully it slows down a bit - or I need to keep reminding myself to take in every precious moment - i now understand when people say time flys!
That's great Shelly, it can be really tough going. I'm seeing a lactation consultant tomorrow to get help with our feeding issues. All we can do is try!
shelly, I was going to suggest maybe seeing a lactation consultant, is there one available through your hospital? Breastfeeding can be difficult to get the hang of, I had a terrible time for the first week or so with DS1 but we got through it and you will too!
How is everyone else doing?
We are doing great, Kody is such a treasure, he's sleeping well and feeding well and just a happy little man. I'm quite emotional today, and maybe even grieving a little bit. Kody is our last bub and I am 100 percent certain on that and happy with our decision, I guess I'm just a little sad that my baby making days are over, no more big belly to rub, or bubs kicking, I'm sure what I'm feeling is pretty normal. I also know how quick it all goes and am sad that today is kody's last "single digit" day, he's 10 days old tomorrow and it's going way too quickly already! I just have to treasure every moment, and look forward to the next chapter in our lives.
Anyway, enough emotional rambling from me, I hope you're all doing fantastically!
shelly - how did you go with what the ABA suggested hun? I don't care how natural people say B/F is - it has never been for me ! And its a PITA when you're having to deal with such a stressful time and be sleep deprived at the same time!
Ezymay - still feeling like a ''milk bar" ?
Jaycee - I so understand how you feel hun! DH keeps saying about #4 - but I am not so sure, I'm really content with 3; although I'm yet to see how I go when DH returns to work. In the last few weeks of my pg I was thinking 'wow, this is the last time I'll have my baby bump' or feel those little flutters that eventually turn into kicks. But in the next thought I'm thinking 'this is the last time I'll be putting my body through all this' too! More pics of Kody pls!!
AFM - whose idea was it to start TT DD1? Argh! But thats more suited to another thread hehe. Bree is going great, she's 4.9 kgs now and waking at around 2.30am and 6.30am - so that's pretty good. She's a bit of a 'chucker' - I've only worn it twice thus far, but otherwise I am just loving those newborn cuddles. Question - when are they just 'babies' - no longer newborns? 6 wks? 3 mths?
Hi girls!! Well Bailey was born on Wednesday 27th April and we ere fortunate enough to come home on Saturday. He has a little bit of jaundice so feeding has been hard as he often falls asleep after only a few minutes.
I just wanted to check how long everyone else is bf for? Do you just do o e side? Or both ? And how long between feeds?
Kts, I'm no expert but from what I have read you should let them feed for as long as they want on one side to get the fatty, filling "hind milk" then when that side feels empty offer the other side until they are full. Then the next feed offer the same side you finished on until it is empty. Forget the clock as you could have a fast or slow feeder.
Girls please correct me if any of this info is wrong!!
Hey everyone, just poking my head in to say hi! So, I ended up with a May baby like I always thought, but I'll hang around here since I know most of you .
I'm still on a such a high after having my baby girl Adele Rose yesterday. Haven't really slept since I woke on Saturday morning, but am still riding the high so feeling pretty good. Can't wait to share my birth story with you all.
Adele is perfect! She's feeding okay (on colostrum for now of course), though we need to work on attachment. She has a good suck on her though!
I'm sure I'll be back more often as things settle down .
I have mastitis I was so sick yesterday I thought I'd die!!! I'm not sure how it happened, I thought we were going well. Off for a breast ultrasound tomorrow.
Oh Ezymay, poor you, doesn't sound fun at all hope the ultrasound is helpful.
Kts, LOL my PC is stuffed too, gonna tackle it today! Haven't had much spare time recently, Can't imagine why?! Hope the BF goes well.
Still having some challenges with the BF... now he won't go on at all and prefers the bottle, so am expressing. But am not getting much, 30mls per side after 30mins of expressing. Doesn't feel like a lot. Still not leaking at all. Sigh.
