Shell: Yeah, might be blood. In the first week feeding Adele when my nipples were a bit damaged and bleeding, Adele vomited a few times and it was a bit pink from blood.
ABA is definitely worth giving a call.
KimB: Welcome to the thread, hope you are going well.
Jaycee: Hope you and Kody are well, and getting the sleep sorted it out. It must have been so hard after the c-section to tend to him, so totally understandable about wanting to keep him with you when you did get him. Have you tried using a dummy as a bit of a comforter. I know lots of people are against them, but thought it might be worth a shot? And what a great weight gain he has had!
Sterla: How are you and Adele going? Ethan had a couple of little pimples as well – I was glad they disappeared before his photo shoot the other week! I am sure they will be back though.
ShellyBelly: Jacob sounds like he is going great! Besides your pink milk how is the feeding going? I remember you mentioned he was on and off the boob. Is your sister arriving tonight? Will be nice for you to have some extra help with your DH going back to work. Im not looking forward to mine going back in a few weeks.
And yep, Ethan does have a middle name – James, it’s a family name used through the generations.
BTW if the pink milk is from the wine – that is just fascinating – hopefully its not from blood.
Sorry to anyone I have missed – I have been reading, but haven’t had too much time to post.
For the last week and a bit, I think we have been out and about everyday and appointments and functions, shopping etc, and we got home yesterday from a long weekend away – so catching up on washing and housework today – fun!
Our weekend away was for a big family function – so we had lots of babysitters for the weekend – everyone wanted to feed, and cuddle and hold him! He also continued to get spoilt with more gifts and cards etc. I think this child has more clothes, and toys and books than a department store! Definitely a lucky little man ☺
Not much else to report. Ethan is still sleeping and eating well. As of this time last week he was half a kilo up on his birth weight, which we are happy with.
I think we are also getting some smiles, and he has also discovered his voicebox for not just crying which is cute.
So my laptop is still not fixed so I am on my phone.
Hi ladies! I will catch up on personals once I get on my laptop. I was just wondering how many feeds your bubs are having and how many times are they feeding overnight?
Wow it's quiet in here... hope you are all doing well with your new bundles of love, and i'm not boring you all with my mindless drivel!
sahbear - your weekend away sounds lovely, lucky little man indeed bfeeding isn't going at all. Think it must have been a one-off as he hasn't taken the boob at all since, despite numerous attempts that always end up screaming. Have had another go at expressing today but supply has reduced to a trickle too. Oh and the pink milk was from blood as it's still there but only on one side.
My sister has been a great help, and seems to be some kind of super mum able to do laundry and the dishes whilst looking after Jacob so I can get some sleep! Also, we were also having a discussion about bfeeding and she was talking about the "letdown" sensation and noticed my quizzical look as I wondered what the heck she was talking about as I don't get that.
kts - hope you get your laptop fixed soon, and you are not getting too frustrated having to rely on your phone. That would drive me nuts! Glad to know you are still with us
Wow, Shelly, that sux about the breastfeeding and the blood. You are amazing to continue with the expressing.
I had to stop that my last day in hospital due to ongoing issues - so you have my admiration for continuing this long!
And yay for your sister helping so you can get some sleep.
Kts - hopefully you get your laptop fixed soon. In regards to feeds, Ethan who is FF is having about 6 bottles a day. Overnight he has one sometime between 9pm and 10pm, and then the next one around 330/4am.
Leesa - how are you and Bree going?
AFM, all good here. E had he check up with the Paed this week- she was happy with how he was going - so no need to go back which is nice. only thing is he is a little on the small side. So we have upped the amount of formula and hopefully he can put on a little more weight.
Other than than - i am still enjoying having DH home, have put him to work this week - we are getting the house reorganised - today was the study - we have the biggest mound of shredding to do after clearing out the filing cabinets. - its amazing how much crap we have kept!
Sahbeah - I agree with Shelly about the pet shops wanting paper. Soo good to feel all sorted and cleaned up eh? Thanks for asking about Bree and I - we are both doing quite well thank you. Nothing dramatic has happened, she's just a normal newborn to me I guess . Other than she had some pics taken and they were adorable - but I am biased !
Wow leesa you sound so laid back! Is this not your first? (am on my phone so can't see any signatures)
I keep getting mini/mild anxiety attacks about how I'm gonna cope with this baby, whilst DH is at work and once my sister leaves. Despite wanting a baby for so long I keep thinking of the huge responsibility!
Does anyone else feel like this?
Shelly absolutely and this is my second!! I felt the same with DD when i had her and ended up struggling through PND. When DS was born, this time I got the same feelings early on so I started on meds (I didn't take anything with DD). They seem to be helping keeping my feelings under control.
Sorry I haven't posted in a while! I've been reading!! It sounds like everyone is doing well, great weight gains.
AFM I can't remember when I last posted (on my phone) so sorry if I repeat myself. I had really bad mastitis and was very sick. It was the worst! I have just finished seeing the dr everyday for u/s therapy and finished my 3rd course of abs. So I ended up with supply issues and DS lost weight so we started comping with formula and I also started pumping a bit. So at this stage I was doing all 3- bfing, then give him a ff then express. Of course he got used to bottles really quickly and slowly the bfing has stopped and the expressing has replaced it. I'm ok with the expressing it's what I did with DD so it takes some of the anxiety of the unknown away. I'm still building my supply so he gets one or two ff a day but mostly it's my milk.
He is a noisy little thing! I asked the dr as I was so worried about his breathing but he said he's fine some babies can have immature larynxes. Dunno lol it makes it hard to sleep!!!
DD is doing well adjusting to being a big sis, it's certainly a lot harder with two! I don't know how anyone does it with more!! I take my hat of to those that do!! Better get back to sleep.
Great Idea girls on the pet shop - will have to ask around the local area and see if they want it.
Shelly - I too am anxious - thinking about being at home all day by myself - thinking of all the what ifs!
I am sure it will be fine - but I am thinking about it already.
Ezymay - Sorry to hear about the mastitis, hopefully it wont return.
Thanks shelly for the compliment. I think I tend to be fairly laid back now purely for my own sanity. I think I changed a bit after having # 3 as I realized that if I continued in my old ways I would drive myself into the ground trying to keep up with the high expectations I tend to place on myself (keeping the house clean etc) because they all just added stress / pressure onto me.
Don't get me wrong, I was really worried about how I'd go with all 3 when dh went back to work (I also have a 3.5 yr old dd1, 22 mth ds in addition to Bree) too, but I actually handled it well. I found that if I stay calm, then so do the kids (all three of them); if I get wound up so would they and it'd make everything 10 times harder.
That being said, dh is on arvo shift for the next 7 nights - this will be a good test of my organizational and time management skills!!!!
As for being anxious, I have learnt that our kids bounce pretty well; dunno if that is because dh and I always had 'loose routines' so that if something doesn't go to plan the kids won't be out of sorts with uncertainty, iykwim? I have a friend that has really rigid routines and if they don't go as planned you'd swear the earth was going to explode lol, poor kid.
Oh, trust your gut instincts. Mumma knows best, if something isn't right with your little one/s trust what your gut is telling you!
Thanks leesa, food for thought indeed. I have looked up the PND symptoms and will go to the GP if things feel like they are getting on top of me. Think I just had a bad day, as the days since have felt easier to cope with.
How are you going so far with DH on arvo shift?
Jacob is 6 weeks old today! Can't believe he is 6 weeks already, time has flown, but so much has happened in those 6 weeks. Am getting more confident, and also more adept at doing things one handed! I have my 6 wk checkup at the obst tomorrow which should be interesting.
Leesa, i love what you said about being laid back etc - i have tried to be like this the last week or so and it definitely helps! i have been reminding myself i wont always have the answers!
Shelly - I just realised our boys were born on the same day! And I have my Ob apt tomorrow. i too cant believe how fast time is flying. Also - for someone who was too scared to hold a baby - to now holding them one handed doing who knows what - i have definitely come along way - haha!
Is your sister still with you?
Hope everyone else is going well?

Okay, I am finally going to attempt to do a proper post in here! I've been reading, but never seem to be able to find the time to post.
sahbear: How are you going? Sounds like you're starting to relax into motherhood . I agree with Leesa - I think there's something in a relaxed, calm mum = a relaxed, calm baby. I always feel like I have a tougher day with the kids the more anxious I am.
Shell: Ooh, love your new avvy . Very hawt! Wow, I can't believe Jacob is 6 weeks already - time is just flying! Haha, I know what you mean about learning to do things one handed - you get very good at it, believe me. I am now trying to work out how to do things with no hands free, as often Adele and Oliver want my attention! I hope you're feeling better about everything .
Leesa: Your post about being more relaxed came at the perfect time the other day! I've been finding myself getting quite stressed trying to juggle Oliver and Adele, but I'm also now realising that my attitude plays a big part. The more laid back I am, the happier we all are! Sounds like you're settling into being a mum of three very well! You're doing an awesome job!
Ezymay: How are you feeling now after those bouts of mastitis? How awful! How is the expressing and building up your supply going? I know what you mean about adjusting to having two kids - it's a huge juggling act! We have had the TV on kids shows far more than I care to admit since having Adele . I'm glad your DD is adjusting well to being a big sister!
kts: So, according to your ticker you are 46 weeks pregnant!!! Haha! I hope you get your laptop fixed soon. I hope it's all going well with Bailey. To answer your question, Adele feeds 2-3 times over night generally.
How is everyone else going?
AFM: Adele was 4 weeks old on Monday, and she's a month old tomorrow! Time flies hey! We are still breastfeeding. After a few initial concerns in the early days (blocked ducts, wondering if she was attaching okay, etc) we have now settled in to feeding and things seem to be going well for the most part. I think I have a really strong let down on my right side though, as almost every feed I drown the poor child and she comes off choking and spluttering and gasping for breath. This then leads to her having a few problems with wind. We've had a few times when she's cried and cried and just can't seem to get the burp up (or the fart out). I think she's working it out though, cause it seems to be happening less often more recently.
I took Adele to the child health clinic on Tuesday (our first visit) and had her weighed. She is now 4.94kg - 1.09kg above her birth weight! Certainly no worries there, lol! She's a little chubster!
We started getting a few smiles at 3 weeks, and she's giving them more and more. I love when they start smiling .
Adele is crying, so better go! Hope you're all well!
My computer is FIXED!!!! Yeah, just got it back so I have been able to fix my ticker....just thinking on what I want to put in it now.
I'm not going to try and go back and catch up although I have been ready on my phone.
One thing I will say is for those who are finding it stressful, I know it is easy to say relax, but it is something you need to work on and then it will eventually come naturally. I am finding this time around I am so much more relaxed and it benefits all of us. DH only had one week of work and I was really worried how I would cope with DD, DS and the house work and meals but I have. In saying that I have kept the main areas of the house tidy, but the bedrooms have looked like a bomb hit them. I just made out bed properly for the first time this week. With DD I stressed over everything not being 'done', this time I prioritise what is really important - which is basically us being feed and clothed, anything after that gets done if it gets done. I tend to get washing done every day but it doesn't always come off the line the same day and get folded and put away like it used to. I'm sure I will get back to that routine at some point but at the moment if the clothes stay on the line for two days and then sit in the washing basket a few more I am note worried about it.
DS is doing well feeding wise, much better that DD. Although he tends to throw up a far bit which DD never did so I find I have mych more washing as a result. He will go a day or two without being sick then he will be sick after ever feed. I find he really needs to be burped otherwise he won't sleep much at all and keep waking up.
Kts64s – Woohoo for having your computer fixed – I don’t know what I would do without mine. Good to hear DS is feeding well – shame about the mess/washing, but I guess it’s a good compromise.
Sterla – I loved it when the smiling started too. E started to smile in the bath – he loves having one, and has started to fall asleep while he in there.
Good on you for still BF – I have said it before – but I admire anyone who perseveres through issues and continues –or attempts too! And what a great weight gain Adele has had.
Hi to everyone else! Hope you are having a great weekend.
AFM – things are going really well.
E feels like he is getting bigger – which is good as he is right at the bottom of the growth charts, and he dropped a percentile at the last check – strange, given how much he is drinking at each feed.
He is getting more active and alert, and giving us some smiles.
Feeling a bit down for my DH – he has another week off work, and then he returns – after 8 weeks off he has realized he will miss seeing a lot of E, he has really enjoyed being here with us. But again – that’s life and unfortunately its how it is.
I know I will be a mess when I eventually go back to work, especially if I have to travel as much as I have in the last few years.
Enough of my rambling, one of my girlfirends is coming over soon, and DH is at the pub with his mates watching the footy – I will enjoy the last little while of quiet time for the day I think!

OMG this is the first time I have written in here! I read everyones posts everyday I just dont contribute! So slack of me.
Im not even going to try and do persies this time cos there is just way too much to go back and read but starting from today I will be a better baby buddy i promise!
I am going really really well! Just like my pregnancy this is an absolute breeze as well.. well so far anyway! Little miss Sienna is a great baby. Ofcourse she cries and grizzles like all other babies but its normally just cos shes hungry or overtired. We are breastfeeding which is also going really well. We tried to follow the whole 'textbook' way to attach.. but after a couple weeks when my nipples werent so sensitive I started letting her attach however she wanted to and everythings been fine! Only problem is I have a pretty strong letdown so once she starts sucking it must get a bit too much for her and she kinda chokes and starts coughing, poor little thing! The worst thing is when she pulls off my milk squirts out everywhere.. it sprays all over her face and anything close by.. not very nice when theres ppl around! haha Anyone else have this problem??!
She is putting on weight really well,it was roughly 400 grams a week up until a week and a half ago.. Little chubba wubba! She was 4.3kgs last time we checked. Am going to go back to the health centre and check on monday, it will be interesting to see what she is now! Her legs are getting so long. Its hard cos her body can still fit in 0000's but her legs are barely fitting in 000's! So i am just buying suits without the feet and putting her in socks.
I think it was Jaycee that was saying she was having dramas sleeping her little man by himself. Well im having the same dramas! In the last week she is getting better going to sleep at night in her basinnette next to our bed after each feed but theres sometimes when she just wont settle and ends up back on my chest. We both dont sleep very well together tho. During the day she is refusing most of time to sleep in her cot as well, she falls sound asleep as soon as shes on someone and as soon as u put her down she is wide awake. I have tried the let her cry thing and it just doesnt work for us.. she works herself up way too much and then doesnt sleep well anyway!
It feels like i dont move off the couch allday... im either feeding or rocking her to sleep! Its amazing how fast the days go when ur not doing too much!
Dh was home for 6 weeks but on Monday he went back to work. He works away for 3 weeks and is home for 1..well it ends up being 10 days home so its not too bad. I thought i was going to struggle being on my own..no1 to hand Sienna too to burp or change nappies etc.. but it actually hasnt been too bad... I think she knows she has to be on her best behaviour! I feel sorry for dh tho..3 whole weeks without his darling little princess! he seems to be alright so far tho.. where they are working atm its got some really good fishing.. so hes been doing a bit of diving and spearfishing after work to keep him busy.
Anyway i think i have rambled enough! I have written my birth story (its in my signature) if anyone wants to read anymore of my ramblings! haha.
Have a great weekend! xxx
Oh but first.. im about to start using cloth nappies..have bought a few off the internet so just waiting for them to arrive, im so excited! I think Sterla u have bought a few hey.. it really is an addiction! Hopefully we dont have too many poo explosions!
