DB- i havent been able to express as well as feed her at the same time. I have enough supply for her no worries, but dont get more the 10-20ml after a feed expressing.
Maybe i should just keep trying and add the 10-20ml together over 24hrs and freeze. may take me a few days but i could get together one feed at least. But even then I dont want to miss a feed because It may affect my supply this early on.
Beatrix we're having the same struggles here Georgia doesn't go more than 2 hrs between feeds which means maybe 1 hr sleep n a row if you're lucky. We also have had the rumbles in the tummy along with screaming for a couple of hours a lot of evenings/nights. Georgia does poo several times a day but yesterday I noticed she seemed to be struggling to poo. I took her nappy off and laid her on the floor for a while and after a few minutes she pooed. The other night after 2 1/2 hours of crying she finally slept about 2 hours then woke and pooed followed by loads of wind exiting exiting the bottom exit too. I too am starting to wonder if it is something I'm eating, although we had a couple of days of calm and I really don't vary my diet that much each day so IDK I am an absolute zombie and quickly getting frustrated. I'm thinking of starting to express, but that is stressing me too because I am a crap expresser and it takes ages to get a decent amount. It will be worse this time as I gave my sisters electric pump back and she's using it so I only have my hand one which isn't as efficient. Formula also crossed my mind a few times the last few nights, but I am resisting and hoping things will improve soon I really need some sleep I have no idea how you're doing it with having to get the other kids organised to school and sport etc You're doing s great job!!
Willow- as horrible as this sounds, Im kinda glad its not just me. if that makes any sense? Like i feel like i'm doing something wrong but since your gorgeous little one is having the same issues, then it relives me to know its not just me. I'm really sorry your having to deal with it too, its heart breaking seeing you bubba so distressed, when you can't seem to do anything to settle her. Im not coping very well and am so short tempered with the other kids. DD3 loves Zoe so much she is constantly in her face when I am trying to feed or have just settled her and its driving me mental, I have snapped a few times at her. Luckily i only have to do drop off in the morning as DH is home in time to do pick up and he tries so hard to help but even he is getting snapped at and I feel so horrible.
Normally i would jump in the car and go for drive, but the weather atm is wet and miserable and driving in the middle of the night in those conditions isn't the best idea so I wont. ATM Zoe has been asleep since 8am (now 11am) she feel asleep in the capsule in the car and i haven even unstrapped her, just brought her inside and put her at my feet. So she is still sleeping! Hasn't feed since 6:30 am too.. so almost 5 hrs. Stupid me should have slept as well as all other kids at school or kindy but i have so much to do around the house that I didnt and now its done, no point going to sleep as she will wake soon.
The other thing with sleeping when they sleep is when you think they won't sleep long it's not worth it, and you never know when they'll do a longer stint! Georgia slept 3 1/2 hours yesterday (I had to hold her though) but I had no idea she'd sleep that long so didn't sleep myself. If you do lie down to sleep and they wake after 30mins I think you feel worse.
DS3 here is exactly the same loooves her to bits, is all over her and me and right in her face kissing talking cuddling, but when she's not happy and I'm tired and stressed it is just so annoying I have been snapping too, sleep deprivation is just horrible you can't get your brain to work properly and emotions are hard to control.
Georgia doesn't like to be put down to sleep either I just put her down before to try do a few things, she was in a heavy sleep after fighting it for 45 minutes and she lasted 20 in her bed I have 3 different kinds of dummies here and she won't take any of them, swaddling doesn't help she fights to get her arms out and gets cranky (all mine have done that) She doesn't really comfort suck on me a lot either, it's like she hasn't worked out what her thing is yet, and I can't work it out either. Oh and she hates the car too, screams the whole time, so we can't win anywhere
I put her in the Ergo the other day and she slept about 2 hours while I got a bit done then woke I managed to feed her in there and she slept again another hour and a half after but it's hard to go to the toilet get the washing out and a few other things, I'm short which doesn't help either. DS3 is finding the limited, next to none really, one on one time with me hard too I feel like I miss him because of it even though he's still here, weird I know.
Beatrix/Willow- DD1 was like that..exactly how you are describing!! I feel for you both!! I have discovered that there are a few things that bother Eleni that I eat.....
garlic
orange juice
onions
cabbage/coleslaw
chili (in large amounts, yes I like it)
apparently these are all classic foods that can irritate and give gas/wind! Maybe have a think about what you guys are eating...I have heard that a lot of dairy can have an effect as well..
With DD1 I had the same problems...and went the expressing option early on!! Then at 4 months I turned to formula!.... I can't believe I lasted THAT long with her... I was on struggle street bad!... Don't feel bad to go for formula! Your sanity is more important!!
I've been using sleeping bags with her for the last week and I have found she's sleeping MUCH better!... except the last few nights, she's been really unsettled at about 4am when she's decided is poo time!!
We had MCHN today for her 4 week check, she's 4.105kg!! up 600g in 2 weeks!! 52cm and hc 35.5cm! So she's growing well and we are happy with that!!.. At the moment she's in her bed getting cranky with her hiccups! poor little thing!
Harri- im following the 12wbt (Michelle Bridges) program so am recording what i eat. I dont have much dairy as my stomach cant tolerate it, the weirdest thing is Zoe has been much worse since I stopped eating crap like choc and lollies, LOL i know carbonated drinks seem to affect her so have cut that out and while I think of it I did have a few glasses on the weekend so maybe that may contribute? Im clutching at straws.
I REALLY dont want to go onto formula so that is completely last resort, and since its not a hungry thing and my supply is ample I will try everything to address it other ways plus its not guarantee that formula will stop the gas, as it maybe her feeding technique. The MCHN did say when she heard her feeding that i must have a strong let down and she seems to be gulping.
great growing and weight gain for your little one harri!!
Beatrix- I have heard about the carbonated drinks also.. so I'm keeping those to a minimum, although I did have a coke today!! will be interesting to see what happens tonight with that!!
I have 4 different kinds of dummies here also and she wont take any of them, as I know sometimes she likes to comfort suck to get the gas/poo out, and thought if at 4am I could give her the dummy and it would have the same effect it would be better!.. but alas NO!
We have the same issue here with Eleni and especially when she feeds off my left boob... Fast flow, so lots of gulping and she sucks like a maniac!! sometimes she's finished in 5-10min, then she burps... and will have at least three other burps up to an hr after that result in dirty clothes!!! The MCHN today said that that will resolve as she grows bigger!
Zoe is still asleep!! So thats 5hrs of straight sleep and almost 7 since her last feed. i just had to express to relive some pressure and you can see its complete foremilk. really white and see through. Hoping that since I did that when she does wake she wont get that 50ml of foremilk now so wont be as gassy later
willow- we have had the snot and coughing here too with DD1! She's much better today...thankfully, but it's definitely going around at school, a lot of kids away!
With Eleni, was thinking maybe she's working on cutting out her 2am feed?? or maybe she's waking for gas/wind and thinks she might as well have a bit of milk also? but not hungry really?
Beatrix- I let Eleni whinge a bit... I don't always pick her up straight away etc.. Unless of course it sounds like she's distressed!
