Willow- good luck with your 6 week check!
Well something is working, not sure if its the chiro, losec or dairy free (mainly dairy free, it's hard to go completely) but we got a 5 1/2 hr stretch last night followed by a 4hr!!! Plus she seems so much more settled. Still has her crying moments but fewer then before.
Goooood morning ladies!!
Hope you are all doing well!! Sorry I have been so quiet... had a busy week with appointments and the curriculum day on Friday so was out and about a lot!
happymum- hope things are improving for you....!
Beatrix- Oh B..... so sorry that you went through that... change GPs!!!!!! Oh Glad you have finally had a good night!!! :D If it continues maybe you can stop the meds and see if it's that or not!?
DB- Eleni has lots of little pimples on her face too....GP just said it would go away on it's own and that they are just immature pours...?! Glad the Logan is being good to you!!
Willow- thanks for the tip with the apricot oil...will have to get some... I rub Almond oil on DD1 and that works great, but am reluctant to use it on Eleni just yet! Oh I'm so genuinely sorry you are having a tough time :( It's so hard when they don't sleep during the day, then carry on at night also.. DD1 was like that!
As for us... we are well.... Eleni is growing heaps and the 000 sleep suits with the feet in them don't fit anymore!!!!...such a boob monster! hahaha
She feeds 3-4hrly still during the day, cluster feeds at night and will go 4-5 hrs at night! so I'm happy with that!!... She is trying to stay awake much more during the day now, but mostly is happy to lay in her bed and relax until she falls asleep! Although we also have our moments, thankfully they are few and far between!
last night she went to sleep at 9:30pm-2:30am (i leaked a little) then fed on one side then went back to sleep until 7am!!! When I woke her by changing her nappy because she's done a poo AND I HAD LEAKED EVERYWHERE!!!!! so I had to get her to feed!!! So was VERY impressed with my little girl even though now I have to wash my Pjs and sheets!!!!! can't win! Then she fed and went to sleep at about 8am (did school run) and she just woke up at 10:15am for a feed! Fed again and now she's laying in her bed... I wonder how long that will last!!?!? This is usually when she likes to have a lot of her awake time... between now and about 1:30pm, but I really good do with some time to do some housework right now!
Last Thursday we had our first set of vaccinations!... all good.. no reactions or anything so we are happy! She only cried a little when the first one went in, then she was fine!
off to wash my sheets now... but nothing will dry down outside today! :/
Beatrix glad things are improving :D Kinda sux when you don't know exactly what did it but who cares really just enjoy it! :D
Harri sounds like a dream baby! :) My DS2 was like that just so chilled hardly ever cried just contented and slept well from day one :D Wow out of 000s already! We are only just into them now. What does Eleni weigh and measure? I used the Apricot oil for perineal massage when I was pg. I got the Melrose brand apricot kernal oil from the health food shop in the mall. It's good for massage as well not too greasy and very gentle so no drama to use in the bath or bub :)
All was well at the 6 week check. Stats are 5610gms, 58cm long and 38cm HC. I'm slack haven't had her weighed since 2 weeks so that's a gain of 1620 in 4 weeks, length increase of 6cm and HC 1.6cm
We had the check at the GP so the nurse weighs and measures then you see the doc for the rest. She's on the 50th percentile for HC, the 75th for length and 97th for weight. The nurse said good work mum, but the doc said if it keeps up she's overweight so watch her :( I was a bit put off by that after only one high weigh. She asked did I have GD or diabetes geez I think that's a bit overcautious at this stage :o
She did seem to think she has reflux but said because she's gaining and it's not every feed she suggested trying elevating for sleeps, small frequent feeds etc Then asked me how much she was taking each feed, um hard to tell when breast feeding, then she said 'Oh yeah' hmmm not sure how confident I am with this GP, not for babies anyway. She said if all the elevating, smaller frequent feeds etc don't help, to get the children's Gaviscon from the chemist and try it first before anything on script. She said because it seems mostly just once a day not every feed it might work to give her that at that one time of day, which I guess makes some sense. She also said it's not recommended for babies under 12 months but to give her a half dose. It has to be dissolved in her milk though, I still can't find my pump and have no idea if she'll take a bottle, if she won't then that won't work.
I'll post a pic soon to see if you girls think she's looking overweight I don't :(
Willow - My ex-dr told me BD1 was obese (yes he used that word) at 5 weeks old. I was so upset. It's not as though she was out eating junk food. She was 4.35kg and 56cm born and had normal growth. She had so many rolls. Simply gorgeous. I never went back to that clinic. How can a newborn be overweight? They are all different. A lot depends on birth weight. If your baby is feeding well and gaining weight then that's the goal. What do these types of drs want you to do? Start depriving them of milk so they don't gain as fast?? You're obviously doing a great job of feeding and your baby is thriving.
Overweight??? WT??!?!?! What is wrong with these Drs?????
I'm not sure what she weighs and measures at the moment... I do have scales here at home, next bath I will weigh her..I always forget and she's in the bath when I remember!! I don't think it's a weight issue with the clothes... more the length of her legs!! The suits with feet in them are too short, if you know what I mean!
I want to see a pic of her Willow!!! :D
Thanks girls.
That's what I thought DB!! No way I'd be not feeding her when she's hungry! I asked her if you actually have overweight breast fed babies, she said yes. Then she asked me if I'd had diabetes or GD, also if I had a normal delivery. So I assume if I had high BSL I could be making her gain too much. Not sure what the type of delivery I had has to do with it and didn't think to ask. Georgia was 3.6kg and 51cm born so not tiny, not huge.
Harri I know what you mean about the legs! I put two different suits on Georgia today and took them off because she couldn't straighten her legs out, they seemed ok everywhere else, snug but ok.
Ok I've uploaded some pics, a couple from a week or so ago and some from today. Ok so she does have chubby cheeks, a full belly and two chins lol But I wouldn't have thought overweight. My DS2 was much chubbier than her, and he had rolls too, so cute, but I still would have said healthy. I think they may be getting carried away with weight watching if they think Georgia is over weight. She has had a spurt the last couple of days so maybe she's doing the growing out out before up and the chins will stretch out once the length has it's go :)
Here's the album :)
Both suits she's in are 000s
I could understand if you had GD maybe.... but really she looks perfect to me!! Absolutely too cute!!!! :loveshower:
I think Eleni may have chunkier legs but not as big a belly... need to take a nudie shot of her!! lol
Willow- she's perfect!
Zoe I also in the 97th percentile for weight and height an the dr did not once mention to me she was over weight.
It's been two weeks since I weighed her so thinking I might stop in and weigh her today
And now I have forgotten everything anyone else had said due to being on phone and not seeing other replies.
I kinda spat it at DH last night. I'm just tired and my back hurts from a day of constant feeding and not wanting to be put down again. His offer for help are tiny and the second after he says something he is snoring again. I just wish she would sleep in her bed. Yes she is sleeping for 3 he periods but they are on or next to me which make the sleep terrible and I end up in uncomfortable position on a inch of the bed.
Well last night my back couldn't take any more holding so she ended up in her bassinet. After some time and unfort some crying (even with me patting g her and singing to her) she did eventually sleep for 3hrs!! And after her feed resettled back in there with some jiggling of it!! So wasn't in my bed all night. Right next to me and I could reach and see her though.
Feel bad cause I love her cuddles but must admit it was so nice.
Now this morning after a 4 hr sleep she seems to want to play not eat.
Beatrix- that's awesome, well done!.... Not that any of us like to listen to the crying of our babies, sometimes it can't be helped!! Is she much more settled now...?? not and cranky??
Harri- to be honest she is completely hit and miss, what works once for her doesn't work the next time. I am close to the end of my tether with her.
DH is a great guy but useless, needs to be told what to do and when to help and I want to hit him over the head with a shovel. Not to mention all the other stuff going on in our lives atm, we have finally got a date for BILs funeral which is friday, but DH still needs to meet with funeral director again and the celebrant performing it.. plus BILS affairs ned to start being sorted out. Its just nuts and im ready to break. :(
It sure is difficult when they aren't predictable!!...Not much you can do, just do whatever seems to work at the time for you both!... So the meds are or aren't working??
ahhhh DHs... well...... same here too... and then when I tell him what to help me with he either says yes but doesn't do it so I do it myself, or gets cranky that I'm bossing him about! all he can think about is doing the do.....AND that is the LAST THING I want to think about right now... I have given in a couple times though!... Then by the time I get to sleep she's up in 2hrs for a feed!!
So I had a coffee this morning to "wake up" well maybe that was a mistake as now she's struggling to get to sleep!! :shakehead: Decaf for me from now on....*sigh*
Hopefully once the funeral is over with things will slowly be less hectic for you all and you can get back to "normal" life! Hang in there, it IS going to get better.
Has anyone thought about when they are going to start solids?? I stared DD1 at 4 months and she loved it! will most likely start Eleni at 4 months also.
....oh she's gone quiet... hope she's gone to sleep!!
Im a real slacker at posting in this thread but I do read it every day.
I feel bad because Wilder is a pretty good baby so I dont really have anything interesting to share and I know your all having sleep issues so me coming in to say he slept 9pm-5am seems rude  We survived our 6 week needles, he is growing well and over the 4kg mark now - which seems huge for us because he was so tiny born but really he is barely bigger than some newborns still lol
I cant believe that we are all heading for the 3 months mark, seems like just yesterday we were sitting at the 12wk of pregnancy mark thinking time was dragging along slowly :)
You could never be rude!! I'm so happy that after all you went through you have a good sleeper!!!
Hi Freya - I'm glad everything is going well with Wilder. Logan was 4.6kg born. Lol. He is a big boy. Long and gorgeously chubby... although he has skinny legs like my DH. Lol. We have immunisations on Friday the check-up. He has grown out of some his 000 clothing. He couldn't stretch his legs out in one outfit today so I had to retire it.
What does everyone do with their outgrown items? Logan is our last baby so we don't need to keep anything. I'll keep one or two really nice items as keepsakes/to reminisce. My friends had their children years ago so I don't have anyone to hand them down to.
Beatrix that's what Georgia is, consistently inconsistent :wall: one minute something works the next it doesn't. Just when you think you've got it, NOPE! :wall:
Freya I was going post today to ask how you were going. Yay for a good sleeper you had a rough preg so I'm glad you got an easy bub :D Don't no post we still want to hear what's happening with you guys! Great growing too :D
DB I have plenty of people to hand down too so don't have an issue there, I might keep a couple of things for sentimentality's sake though :)
We've had two relatively quiet evenings where the usual screaming is. I'm wondering if it is food related now. The 3 nights before we had screaming and I tried to think what I had eaten and all three days I'd had sausages. Yes three days in a row lol I didn't have pg cravings but am having post natal cravings! Tea and toast and cold sausages, not together haha. So then yesterday and today no sausages and no screaming. Maybe coincidence but I'll make a mental note and see what the next few days bring.
Does anyone know how long it takes for what you eat to effect your milk and get to them?
No idea willow.
I'm close to breaking point. I have never had a baby like this before and I'm over it. Buying a tin of formula tomorrow. I don't expect it to make her sleep through but I need a night away from her. As horrible as it sounds I'm just not coping with everything being so out of wack. I need some sort of order in my life.
Gonna take a break from BB too and thinking of deactivating fb.
Hope everyone else is well and when I come back things are better.
