Re green poop : could be one of two things - my DS has an immune allergy to egg and his poo when frog green as a newborn/infant when i had egg and it went through my milk or if he ate something with egg. OR if you are breastfeeding which i'm assuming you are, it can be too much foremilk and not enough hind milk. usually causes tummy aches and green poo i believe. haven't had personal experience with that one though.

birth marks - are you meaning the stalk marks (the red ones?) They disappear over time apparently. DS had two on the back of his head from the way he was sitting in the birth canal apparently. they are meant to disappear over time, although his have just faded. can't see them now cuz he has grown hair. my friends daughter had one on her forehead, it disappeared after a few weeks. His actual brown birth mark is behind his knee and it didn't appear until he was about 18months. haven't seen one on DD. i'm assuming hers will appear later too. she is still quite tan/red.

All good here. 3 weeks corrected today. Not great sleep but that is expected. Short post because I'm on my phone. Hope all is well

All good here too. 2 weeks old. On holiday on Rottnest! Synchronized sleeping, feeding etc. gaining weight although still TINY!!!!
Both got snotty noses however thanks to older brothers & mummy & daddy.

DD has a small dot that we were told would disappear but she still has it. I hope the one on the back of his head does fade its very red, the one on his eye lid my niece has one on the same eye lol

Does anyones bub choke on your milk? Dd2 does. Every now and again she'll choke and hold her breath. Freaks me out

My DS chokes while feeding quite a bit and then looks as though he is having trouble getting his breath back. I'm pretty sure it's because he is a little piggy, 5.4kg at 3weeks! Combined with perhaps a strong/fast letdown. He recovers quickly, so trying not to worry about it.

Dd2 put on a whole kilo in 4 weeks!!!!!! According to the nurse they only expect 600g! My early bird is making up ground

Ah ... have been wondering if there was an Aug '12 thread. Glad I found it - and good to see some familiar "faces" in here!

DS3 is 4 weeks old tomorrow - can't believe the time has flown. I weighed him last Tuesday (3w1d) ... he was 5.7kg. No wonder he wants mummy's boobie milk all the time!
Like some of you have said, DS3 appears to choke on my milk - particularly on the right side. I'm putting it down to a fast flow/super let down and the fact that he's been snuffy the past few days (thanks to DS2's head cold being passed around the family).

I'd forgotten what hard work little bubbas can be, but I must say it's all worth it when I get a booming big smile. Totally corny, but totally true.

Hi ladies I should probably pop in here. I was part of the due in July thread but my little man came 9 days late

I'm cate, 27 and live in NSW. I have a 6.5yo daughter who is a type 1 diabetic and then a son who is 7 weeks today (different fathers)

I'm currently studying via correspondence both a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice whilst also being a single mum

DD's 43 hour labour put me off having children but DS's went swimmingly so I could be convinced to have 1 more (IF the right guy comes along)

How many feeds a day are your bubbas doing

Hi OLP
My ds snacks through the day and averages roughly 1000mls of formula in a 24 hour period
At night he feeds roughly 7.30pm, 3am, 5.30am, 7.30am then snacks for the following 12 hours

OLP, DS is BF and we roughly do 7am, 10, 1pm, 4 then 2-4 feeds between 6 and 8pm. Overnight varies but usually 2 feeds. Had our 4week visit on tues, DS is now 5.7kg, 60cm and HC 38.5 - bearing in mind he was almost 2 weeks overdue, he is still a big boy!! My main problem at the moment is 2year old DD, who has taken to biting me and refusing to shower or bath. She is mostly gentle with DS, but is really challenging me!

I hope everyone else is going well and getting a bit of sleep x

Awesome. My DD2 is also breastfeed and is 6 weeks corrected (12 from her birth date). She feeds at roughly 730, 1130, 330 and 730 with a 60ml formula top up at night to help her Fred stay down at night due to reflux and also get her used to a bottle as there are 2 functions coming up where she'll be looked after.

I was trying to remember what I did with dd1 tho as I used to give her her last feed at 5pm and she slept through till 7am

Just dropping in - DD2, my little Ava Elizabeth, was born 11.38am on Tuesday 21.8.12. She was very little but is chubbing up nicely on a diet of boobie juice DD1 is being a wonderful big sister and I'm learning to juggle two kids under two. Looking forward to sharing the journey with you all

Gee OLP, I think you just got lucky with DD1 sleeping those hours - wow! I'm amazed that I'm only getting up once or twice with DS overnight as DD always wanted to be awake in the small hours. Hi Purplepixie, I love your bubba's name - so pretty.

Thanks. I'll admit I fight for good feed times. I learnt with dd1. But she does like to be awake for a while and I do go with the flow. For example it took a long time after her 330 for her to sleep so I let her sleep abit longer so her last feed was later.

With dd1 I was back doing nights around this age and I gave her a feed at 5pm then shed sleep through so was thinking maybe she only needs 3 feeds but was unsure

Hi gals,

We've had a shocker of a week. DS3 has been battling really bad wind pain (no poo in 4 days), plus has had an ear and throad infection - albeit not a severe infection. He was unsettled from Sunday night through to yesterday. We've had 3 trips to the GP this week to keep an eye on his ear/throat, and yesterday I took him to a chiropracter. The chiro said DS3's pelvis was locked up a bit on one side, which apparently would impact on his bowel/gut ... hence, wind pain. Anyhoo, GP said today the redness in his ear/throat has gone down, so at least that's something. And he finally did a poo yesterday, and another today. Plus his wind seems to have settled. So FINALLY we have our happy little baby back!

As for feeds, we've yet to settle in to a firm-ish routine but DS3 would probably have 7-8 BFs in a 24 hour period. Generally DS3 likes a BF about every 2-3 hours. Overnight he wakes once or twice for a feed - I am getting a 4-5 hour sleep before his first overnight feed, then he'll wake 2-3 hours later for another go.

Re: over night feeds ... all kids are different - my DS1 would only ever wake once a night for a feed and starting sleeping through from approx 3 months of age, but DS2 starting sleeping right through the night from the time he was 3 weeks old. If only I knew how spoiled he made me ... DS3's night time waking initially proved a bit of a shock to the system. Cannot wait to start getting a full night's sleep again ... whenever that may be!
