Andi - I see Pinky is selling boobie beads, think I am going to get some, sick of all the scratches all over my chest! DD will love the pretty colours I am sure.

Hey all,

I can totally relate to the rivers of drool and the incessant need to put everything in ones mouth!! I definitely can't feel any teeth in there, but wonder if they aren't far away! PP, I hope the chiro has made you both feel better, so scary to have a fall holding bubs, must have been very upsetting. I fell down stairs at about 30 weeks pregnant, that was bad enough.

Had an appointment with MCH Nurse and at 5 months, my DS is 8kg and 70cm. Perfect if you ask me

Kelly, I saw the BF beads, I thought they were sold out? My DS holds on to my greenstone, but it's a bit hard to chew on. We have a busy few weeks coming up with family staying, weekend in torquay, starting swimming lessons with DD and DS and finally our trip home to NZ at the end of Feb. I'm looking forward to it all but am struggling with how fast time is passing. Some days I just want to sit and savor the time with my precious baby before he's not one anymore!!

Hi all, hope things are well with you and your babies.

We've had a big last 7-8 days. Moved DS3 into a cot in his room on the 26th. It was a little weird for me after 5 months of having him "room in" with us, but he really needed to upsize into the cot as at 10kg, he was waaaaay too tall and solid for the crib! Thankfully it was a smooth transition - if anything he's sleeping better in the cot (I suspect because he has more room to sprawl).

Then a couple of days later DS3 had his first taste of "solids" - apple puree. He loved it, so I've kept giving him a bit each day since. I'm not looking at replacing any BFs with solids at this point though, it's more just a "taste" of something extra. I've started DS3 on solids a little earlier than I did DS1/2, but I went with my gut. DS3 is such a big kid, and at 5 months he seemed ready. Everything he could get his hands on was going in to his mouth, he was watching everything thing that went in our mouths ... he was eating his own fingers. So I thought, gah ... why not.

And then yesterday ... he rolled! Finally

And now he rolls, and rolls and rolls.

So it feels like we've had a week of "firsts". Today rolling, tomorrow crawling no doubt!

Patti - Dont know re: the beads. I know a few places sell similar things though.

Andi - Usually the way - those that take longer just get it one day and dont stop! Rather than a gradual process.

Missy started rocking on her hands and knees this weekend. Oh the inevitable...

Hi all, hope everyone and their bubs are doing well.

We've had an interesting week - I think I jinxed myself with one of my last posts saying how DS3 was sleeping better since he'd moved in to his cot. WRONG. Ever since that post, his sleep has gone to the dogs. He's waking 4-5 times a night, and every second night (sometimes more) I'm giving him a BF somewhere between 2.30-4am. I know that's totally normal for bubs to still have an overnight feed, but DS3 hadn't had an overnight feed for a couple of months. Fortunately when he wakes he only needs resettling (he's not awake for hours), but he obviously doesn't settle back down into a deep sleep. I think the problem (or part of it) may be that DS1 started school and so any sleep routine we had with DS3 has gone out the window. In fact there were three days last week where he didn't get a day sleep in his cot as we were out and about doing jobs as well as doing school drop off/pick up.

In other news, last week DS3 weighed in at 10.3kg and 75cm long. Off the charts. His head though is in the 10th percentile

Hi All,

Hows everyone and their little ones going?

Sleep is going well here. generally DD2 has 1 1/2 to 2 hour nap in the morning and anywhere from 1 to 2 hours of an afternoon. She is starting to like the idea of rolling, although we have floor boards and the thud is hard when she goes back - buying a rug tomorrow as well as putting a few more blankets under her mat.

Not interested in solids either. Have tried spoon feeding some purees and yoghurt but nothing. Have also given her crust of bread at lunch or some steamed vegies at dinner while we eat, but mostly is spat out. Was funny on Saturday - we were at McDonalds having dinner and DH was drinking his coke while nursing her and shes pulling his hand down trying to get to his drink. was to cute

Otherwise all going well and she is gettign way to big. DH took her to get her 6 month needles a month ago and she was just under 8Kg's - growing great from teh 2.7kg she was when born.

I love how the nurses treat the dads different to the mums tho. If i went I'm told she needs more feeds and to do xyz. DH goes and she is perfect and everything going well.

Peek A Boo!!!!!!!

How's everyone going?
DD is rolling everywhere and into heaps. Love watching her pivot on her tummy. Her big sister is smothering her in love still and gets quite upset if she can't help do things with her.

Down to 2 day naps and sleeping through at night. However her afternoon nap is getting harder to put her down for. Plus her lunch bottles a struggle.

Solids are going great. Although she's still very spewy

Hey OLP and AndiE, looks like we're the 'regulars'

Glad to hear everyone is going well.

We're down to two naps per day too, she only had two short ones today which sucked! But ah well. Still breastfeeding and have introduced solids, but she's not having much at the moment as she's unwell and favouring the boob. She enjoys grated apple, grated carrot, stringy bits of chicken and things like that.

DD has been keeping me really busy - she's making heaps of leaps. Crawling progressed into pulling herself up onto things and that progressed into cruising furniture. She even stood up, unaided (on the mattress!!) yesterday, for a few decent seconds. Needless to say we've had a few tumbles, poor bubba. She's cutting bottom teeth at the moment - my holiday was really, really hard, 5am wake-ups most mornings and we barely got a meal together she was that unsettled. I think we may have had three meals together, in our room, while she slept. She had a bad fever, pulling at ears, rubbing her bottom gum on everything - she was so, so unhappy. She also has bad runny green nappies as I think she also has a tummy bug we all seem to have (just not as bad as she has). So she's not been the happiest chook, but we're doing our best. When she's sad she turns to me and says what sounds like mumma

She also makes sounds like bubba too, so cute. Yesterday she started clapping for the first time. She's so proud of herself!

MCHN visit any day now so will be good to see how she's grown

Can't believe our bubbas are in the 8 month ball park now! Insane. Before we know it, they'll be 1.

Hi Kelly and OLP,

Good to hear from you both - we're on hols in South Aus at the moment, so I haven't been on BB much lately.

Rory is on a par with your DD, OLP. Rolling around and pivoting to wherever he wants to be. He's trying hard to get up on his haunches though, so I think crawling won't be too far off. He's not quite sitting on his own - he tends to flop forward or go to the side after a short while. We laugh that his fat rolls are stopping him from sitting up properly

As for food, it's minimum of two solid meals a day, and approx 5-6 BFs. DS3 lurrrrrves custard!!!

Kelly, wowee about your DD cruising furniture and pulling herself up. I am NOT ready for that ... hmm, maybe DS3 is taking things at my pace and not his.

We've gone backwards in terms of sleeping. DS3 still only catnaps 2 or 3 times during the day (mainly in the car or pram), and at night he's reverted to having at least one overnight feed, sometimes two. He's so different from my DS1 and DS2 who dropped their overnight feeds all together from 3 months and 3 weeks respectively. He also has two sharp little bottom teeth, which arrived at about the six-month mark. Again, he's teething approx 4 months earlier than his brothers. Funny how different to them he is really ... overnight habits/teeth are the tip of the iceberg.

Still, he's generally a happy, placid little cruiser, and for that I'm so thankful. He also loves a snuggle, so that's lovely too ... I'm lapping them up and trying to store them up as he's definitely our last bub. And now to contradict myself - in the past few days we travelled nearly 800km over two days to visit my DH's dad and stepmother. DS3 either screamed, groused or cried most of the trip when he was not asleep. OMG, what a nightmare. We do the return trip (in the one day) tomorrow, so trust me when I say I'm not looking forward to it. I took him to the dr yesterday for a once over to be sure nothing else was going on, and he's fine. He hadn't done a poo in 5 days, and I wondered if that was the issue but the dr wasn't too worried -- and indeed DS3 did a mega one this morning. The dr (who incidently was THE BEST dr I've ever taken one of my children to and the repore he had with DS3 was unbelieveable ... brilliant!) said DS3 is most probably exerting his willpower and telling us he's bored/sick of being in the (rear facing) capsule and in the car for such a long period. Apparently his dummy, toys and interaction with his brothers isn't enough to keep him amused. I love my baby dearly, but why oh why did he decide he didn't like the car now??? Up until then, he's been a brilliant traveller. Sigh. Think of me tomorrow - please!

As for weight, DS3 has finally started to slow down. A weigh-in two weeks ago showed he's now 10.8kg and 73cm (I think). Around the 75th percentile from memory (but don't quote me).

OLP, hope the spews settle down and your DD continues to go great guns.
Kelly, hope your DD is feeling better now and is giving her mummy some "me" time. Sounds like another holiday is in order!

Kelly, my guy sounds a lot like your girl and has started pulling himself up on the furniture (not yet cruising). I hope your little one is feeling better soon.

Andie, I hope your trip home is a lot better! What a nightmare for you all in the car.

I guess holidays are never quite the same with little ones, so disruptive to routines. We went to the beach for the weekend a couple of months ago and realised it was easier to stay by the pool than venture to the beach. Also took the kids to NZ by myself, very tiring!

Joe now has two bottom teeth, still BF and 3 solid meals a day. Sort of doing baby led solids and he eats everything he can get his hands on, food or otherwise! Sleep is much the same, 2 short naps during the day and wakes 1-2 times overnight. I really wish he would sleep through. He always wakes at 5.30 like clockwork. I am back to work part time next month so would love some sleep filled nights

My favorite time with him is when we snuggle in bed together and have a tickle and giggle before DD wakes up. He is so sweet and placid. He bumps his old head so much and hardly bats an eye!

I wonder how daylight savings will effect our sleep this weekend?

I'm glad to report that DS3 slept virtually the entire 800km (albeit he groused/cried only when he was hungry or tired, in which case he went to sleep fairly quickly).
Thank God ... the return drive was bliss compared to the drive over!
