    Hi guys,

Going well here too. I have started some solids with Joe, he has been watching our every move intently when we eat and drink. He reaches for everything too and has even managed to get the spoon in his mouth. I have looked in to BLS, but do find the thought a little scary. He's only started in the past couple of days and has had apples and carrots, pureed, but still with some texture. He loves it! He will also take a bottle of EBM, so I had a few drinks for the first time in a long time the other night. I felt like death the next morning, so I think I'll stay away from the alcohol for now. Still having one or two wake ups at night and cannot get him to settle before 9pm. A bit of sleeping in the cot to start and then joins me in bed after his first feed. His day sleeps are getting shorter too... which sucks actually lol! My DP has been working over the holidays and I feel like I am burning out a bit and getting grumpy with my 2 year old, she is really fond of yelling "nah" at me whenever I ask her to do anything. It's tiring.

I haven't weighed him in the last 2 weeks and I'm sure he's had a grow, but he was 7.4kg, wearing size 0. Rolling both ways and pushing his little behind into the air! He can't sit still on my knee, always with the bouncing lol. Blowing raspberries and generally being a cutie patootie!

Shame about the ear infection Andie, poor guy. And wow he is a big boy, I'd be amazed and proud of that size too. I had to move Joe out of his moses basket as he was too big for it, I couldn't fit his cot in our room either - so now I sleep in his room, Ha!

Wow Kelly, you sound busy with bub, work AND reno's. We moved into our house in May and have slowly been doing things one room at a time. I haven't really done much since DS arrived, but DP's been busy in the garden. We filled a 4m skip with rubbish last weekend!! Next will be a new shower as it is currently leaking from somewhere, we just have to find an appropriate time to do it i.e. when no one needs a shower for a few days. DP is a builder and does everything himself, it's handy but takes so much longer when he can only get to it on weekends (if he's not working). I'm thinking of taking the kids to NZ to see the family in Feb, maybe he can stay behind and do the shower while we are away! I hope the rest of your renovations go smoothly.

I wonder how all the other August mums and bubs are doing?

    Take care
    Patti x

Also: Andie, how is your hair loss now? I am starting to get bald spots....... it's freaking me out.

Oooo oooo here too, sleeps getting less during the day. 2-3 powernaps usually So hard to do anything or focus on a job.

So easy to fill a 4m skip isnt it! Id love to throw loads out

Hair loss seems to be full on here still too. Driving me insane. I think I need to improve my diet.

Amaya is grabbing everything here too, drives me nuts sometimes because shes constantly looking to grab, no matter what - even when I have just opened a pooey nappy, urgh!!! She put my toothbrush in her mouth last night (probably not ideal!!) and she was so like, 'I know how to use this thing!!' Shes so funny. They're learning all these new skills thick and fast and want to use them!

Apparently the next wonder week in around 2 weeks is the start of separation anxiety, hating being changed and all that fun stuff. Yay. Things are about to get more tiring cos only mummy and/or daddy can fix it...

    Hi gals,

Patti - I'm still losing piles of hair and it feels like it's thinning out overall. The only thing keeping me sane is the fact that it's the third time it's happened, and it's always stopped after a few months and my hair loss/growth returned to "normal". My bestie ended up with a small bald patch after birthing her second bub, so I know it can happen. I hope your hair loss starts to slow up for you soon hun, We're getting raspberries blown here too - I find it hilarious ... if not very drooly. And DS3 has started to giggle when he finds something funny, which is gorgeous to hear. I hope you get a rest soon, looking after little ones is tiring ... even when there's two of you around.

Kelly - wow, you sound like a reno queen. Half your luck that you have the skills/confidence to do your own reno. It's not something I'd be up for - at least not at this stage of my life. Maybe once the kids are a bit older ... who knows? DH and I want to extend our home, but that will be 2-3 years away and would require a builder etc, so doubt I'd be pulling on the safety goggles and gloves Amaya sounds like a happy bub - and thumbs up that she's already thinking about her dental health

Rory's ear infection improving - he's pooing more than usual and farting like a trooper, which I'm blaming on the antibiotics, but he seems to be over the worst of it. And I think the little dear may have passed his germs on to me ... my throat is really starting to feel scratchy and sore. Sigh !

    Hi all.

Wow your bubs are all growing up so quickly.

Miss Nevada is growing. Due to prematurity she's off for the 6 month needles this week. No teeth although mums thinking her top one isn't far - odd I know but dd1 got her top ones before bottom ones. Also gone to bottle feeding which has been a relief for me. No rolling or raspberries tho. Trying a little bit of solids although she hasn't been to keen on them.

Oh her sleep tho. Gone from 2 x 2 hr naps down to 45-60 min cat naps. Only way I got her down for a decent sleep today was lying on my bed with her (and getting a nap to was good

Hi all! We're sailing along quite happily here. Ava is 4.5 months, 7.26kg and 65cm as of this morning! I can't believe how quickly she's growing. She's incredibly strong and does circlework when I lay her down with her nappy off. Still ebf and we intend on doing BLW when she's ready. She's doing about 5 feeds a day now - 4ish, 7ish, 11ish, after nap then before bed. She'll occasionally want another in the afternoon. . She is soooo laid back. Loves her big sister and cracks up watching her play, initiates games in the bath and chatters to us all the time. She coped well with Christmas and NY and I coped with all the ridiculous questions and helpful advice. Pffft.

Glad to catch up with you all! I hope to be in here a bit more this year. Take care ladies xox

What is everyone's bubbas routine? Miss N wakes after an hours sleep which is an hour before being due. It's crazy

Ha, routine - what routine! Other than DS3 wakes approx 6-6.30am, feeds every 3-4 hours and goes down at night approx 7pm, we currently don't have one. He's the worst day sleeper of my boys - will only have one 2+ hour sleep every 3-4 days. Usually he's awake within 45-60 mins. My other boys had a 2-3 hour sleep DAILY. I haven't pushed a routine yet as DS1 starts prep at the end of the month and I want to see how that pans out - I'll have to try to get into a routine then so DS3 can sleep around drop-off and pick-up.

Bit the same as Andie here. Up at around 7, try for a nap at 9ish and 1ish if we are home. Feeds at 7,11,3ish. Daytime sleeps 40ish minutes, will always nod off in the car/stroller. Feeds a few times between 6 and 9pm and usually down for the night by 9, I struggle to get him to sleep before that. Feeds 1-2 times overnight, lately once at around 4.30/5am but tonight he's awake at 3.30 and will probably still wake up again at 5.30.

Yep I can relate. She's pretty good at night, but day is hard. You also have to remember we're going into the next wonder week territory. We started this week and I have noticed her changed behaviour already. Its the 'relationships' one so distances, separation etc.

Pretty much 40-60 minute day sleeps, probably 3 a day all up, no more. Makes it so hard to focus on getting work done! One after being awake a few hours (like now, I'm lying in bed with her for a feed, just about asleep), then one around lunch then one in the afternoon. The afternoon one is usually shortest and she's raggy by evening! But wont sleep til 9pm'ish now.

Oh wow Kelly. Eeks indeed! Good Lord, DS3 hasn't even rolled yet ...

Had a shocker of a night with bub. He woke at least 7 times and needed to be resettled. I thought about BFing him, but really all he wanted was some comfort via a dummy, hand on chest etc. I've decided that while I love and adore rocking him, or holdinghim to sleep, or laying down next to him on my bed, I really need him to be able to self-settle. Mainly because DS1 starts school next week, and I'll have DS2 home without his big brother. While I can leave DS1 on his own for a while, I just can't do that with Mr 3 Year Old- he'll turn my house upside down if I leave him on his own for more than 10 minutes, but more to the point - HE wants attention almost non-stop. So I've gone down the self-settle route with DS3 as of today. I hate hearing him cry ... so I'm sitting next to him, rubbing his tummy, putting my palm on my cheek etc. Today it didn't make a difference. I feel awful as he cried non-stop for 30 mins I just wanted to pick him up, so badly. But I feel like I'm between a rock and a hard place at the moment. If I can get him to self-settle without resorting to continual CIO I'll be ecastatic.

Uh oh, took more than half an hour to get him to sleep and he's just woken after 15 mins. Sigh. Rock and hard place. I'd better go.

    xx

ETA: Just to clarify the above, DS1 is home this month until he starts school, while DS2 is back at daycare 2 days a week. Plus DS3 is sleeping in a crib next to our bed but he's really far too big for the crib given his weight and length, so I'm preparing to transition him into his cot, in his room. It took me a couple of minutes but DS3 went back to sleep minus any tears - he is tired (and all his crying earlier didn't help). I hate CC and CIO, I really do ...

    Hi ladies,
Kelly, that's amazing but I hear you on the "way too soon" vibe. These kids need to slow down! DS pushes his butt up but hasn't got the arm strength to get into the crawl position. He does roll himself around the lounge though! Andie, sorry you had a rough night, is it a wonder week thing do you think? I understand what you mean about CIO, it is so hard to listen to them cry. I did it with DD out of sheer desperation and sleep deprivation. She is really good at going to bed because of it, but still wakes up every now and then at 2 1/2 she is just too busy to sleep. So far DS has been a better sleeper so haven't felt the need to do it, but I'm getting close. DS slept thru for the first time in ages last night. I hope he keeps it up!

    Take care all x

Patti - Thats how Moo started - pushing her bum up or pushing her front half up with her arms straight. I knew it was a ticking timebomb as to when she figured out both together works! She's mostly shuffling herself around at the moment but I am nervous, not ready for a rocket racer just yet! Early days, I know she has to co-ordinate movement yet! But her sister was also up at the 5 month mark. My son wasn't though, a bit later.

Andi - Sorry he's having a hard time! My most feral nights/days are during wonder weeks. But otherwise when settling her I cycle through wearing her in the HAB, changing the environment (she loves it outside, seems to get bored in the lounge very quickly) and whacking her on the boob. I keep doing those things until she settles and we don't really have many bad nights due to co-sleeping I think. But wonder weeks they are the three c's - crying, cranky and clingy. Between 22.5-26.5 weeks is the fussy period with the last week being the leap week. I found right on 22 weeks she was a different bubba and I usually get really messy myself during wonder weeks. You get so tired, exhausted and frustrated when nothing seems to be working. Hang in there hun xx

Thanks for the support gals. TBH, I don't know much about wonder weeks ... I've just always kind of rolled with the punches when bubs are cranky etc. But from what you're saying, it's seems like it's just a passing thing and I need to ride with it (gee, two cliches in one par!).

My two other boys were pretty good sleepers as bubs, particularly DS2 - OMG, we had it sooo good with DS2. He started sleeping through at 3 weeks of age, and kept on sleeping through ... DS3 was better last night, so hopefully the other night was just a one-off. I'm psyching myself up for moving him into his cot in his room this weekend. My heart is aching (silly, I know - he's only 5 metres further away all said and done!) but my head knows he needs to be in a bigger bed, and said bigger bed won't fit next to mine! Even DH has suggested I put a temporary mattress in bub's room.

Otherwise, I've got a very happy bubba. He's trying to mouth everything that he can lay his hands on, so I suspect when he discovers solids he'll be one happy little/big camper. Rolling is still a total mystery to him, but hey ... the upside is I know where to find him whenever I walk out of the room

Eeep! Precursors to crawling already?! Jeepers.

Ava was five months old yesterday and weighed in at 7.5kg and 66cm. She is teething - drooling like a rabid dog and stuffing everything in her mouth. She was holding onto my thumbs this afternoon and pulled them both into her mouth for a good chew/slobber. Cute, but ew! Slimy She found her feet and had a great chat to them.

Horrible moment on Sunday - I slipped down the stairs holding her Landed flat on my back. I hugged her to my chest as I fell but the impact has messed us both up. We saw the chiro this morning - when he had me feel her spine, I cried. One vertebrae in her lumbar spine was right out of whack. He adjusted her back into alignment but said she felt a little bruised/inflamed through the hips. Then he got to me and I'm even worse off. We'll be going back on Friday. I just can't believe it happened, I had genuine anxiety about exactly this happening with DD1 when we first brought her home so am super careful on the stairs. My feet literally slipped out from under me.

She's so beautiful it takes my breath away. I love it when I'm feeding her and she smiles up at me with her mouth full. After the rough time I had bf DD1 I'm so proud to have made it to 5 months ebf. She is looking almost ready for solids. We got her a high chair and she thinks she's the cat's pyjamas sitting up next to her big sister. She just plays with spoons or toys while we eat. Fun!

Hope you and your babies are all well xox

LOL Andi @ knowing where to find bubs. That would be awesome to still not worry about it. I cant take my eyes off her when changing her, gosh she's a tinker. Then theres the grabbing herself while cleaning her pooey nappy eewww! The Wonder Weeks comes in an app now if you're interested, very cool!

PP - So sorry to hear of your fall, what a scare for you. I worry about that too when on stairs, frightened of her getting hurt! You cant always see where youre stepping. I hope you both feel really better soon. Babies bounce back really quickly. A spoon is Moo's latest fave toy too - must get her a highchair!

Yeah lots of shoving everything in her mouth and drooling here too. Really hurts my fingers sometimes, biting down on my nail down the bottom. Lots of grabbing (ouchies though) including my boobs, nipples, face - argh!!! Gentle, bubba!

PP - ow, you poor thing. How frightening for you! I hope you and your DD are much better soon. It's good you're going to a chiro, I think they are miracle workers sometimes. Congrats on making if to 5 months bfing

Kelly - I hear you on the grabbing. My littlest man pinches. Owie! And I get my finger grabbed and placed in his gummy mouth too. It never ceases to amaze me how strong those gums are - it's a wonder our nipples make it through breastfeeding really!

I did this with DD1 - only i feel on my belly and somehow let her go when i fell. She had a huge scrape down the side of her face. Our Dr said we would be fine, babies bounce and it probably hurts us more then baby.
