Hi Beany - I'm so sorry to hear about your MIL, no longer in pain but still very hard to take in I'm sure. Condolences to you all, especially hubby, you have both been a great support for her, what a lovely guardian angel she will make. Thinking of you all at this difficult time xx

Hi Beany - I hope things are going OK with you and that DH is holding up as well as can be hoped.

And just quickly everyone, I thought I'd post a link to this post about an additive called "Anatto" or 160B. Apparently it can cause massive tantrums and head banging in babies and young children. Because it's natural it is sometimes included in things that say "no additives" such as Rafferty's fruit bars! Something to be avoided!! Very scary!!

14 month old frequently hitting herself in the head...

Brussels, glad your stitch went well and I loved reading about Eva playing with dolls. Ryan drives Craig's cars and trains around and makes brrrrrm brrrrrrm car noises, it's so cute! Funny how they learn all of this by themselves.

Lani, hope that the move to your parent's place goes smoothly and that you get some healing time there.

Rose, sorry that you're having a rough patch with Liam at nights, hope it passes soon.

Ali, I really hope you can go for a VBAC with your next bub, it was really worth it for me.

Tilda, if Matilda can tell you that she's done a poo then that's a good sign. You can try sitting her on the potty in the morning after her breakfast and see if she'll use it. It's not too early to think about it, especially when most of us were out of nappies at 18 months old. There's some good sites (which I can't post here because they sell stuff) on potty training.

AFM - We've been holidaying at our on site caravan since after Xmas and only got back home yesterday. While we were away we had some firsts, good and bad. I got up on the wakeboard for the first time. Craig caught his first fish and had his first ride on a tube behind our ski boat. Ryan got his first stitches after pulling the set top box for the TV in the caravan on to his eyebrow

He stands and will take up to 3 steps before sitting down again, but that's it. He's also pretty good at communicating, but more with words than gestures. Craig was more of a gestures kid, whereas Ryan is much more verbal, probably because he hears Craig and I talking all day. Anyway, I'm enjoying a couple of days back at home, but can't wait to get back to the caravan so I can have another go at wakeboarding.

Tilda thanks for the link very interesting. I've become a bit of a hippy mum (as one of my friends referred to me as) I'm very picky with what I feed Harry and things like that reinforce my conviction. Even when you think you're doing the right thing, a natural additive can be just as bad.
I looked into the rafferty's brand, and some other natural no preservative type brands a little a while back, even though they say they have no preservatives etc, they can sometimes have a loop hole. They can say no preservatives if they don't put it in the food, but they sometimes coat the inside of the packaging with it instead, then don't have to disclose it as it's not an ingredient in the food. So you never know with the pre packaged stuff.

How's the weaning going? I can imagine how you're feeling sad, can you keep a feed or two going? Or are you getting too tired with it, specially at night? Different poo's maybe a new food? Could be teething or a change in your milk. If Matilda's happy and healthy I wouldn't worry too much.

Lani How you going? I hope you're working through all the stuff you need to

Hannah We dismantled our bed and put the mattress on the floor a month maybe 2 ago. Made a big difference! It's a pitty you can't do the same. Harry's 'bed room' is actually just full of crap at the moment, our bed included. He doesn't sleep in there so I thought bugger it. We've just got our shed back up so I can sort it out soon and get some sort of order happening. Not that it will include him sleeping in there just yet I wouldn't imagine. Does Amelia have a bedroom ( I can't remember sorry) maybe you could convert it to a crap room like us, just until her sleeping habits improve?

Hi Carmey and Kanda

Hope all is well with you guys.

AFUS Harry has taken a few steps the last couple of days but he's not really aware he's done it so walking is a way off I think. But we finally have some words! Up is the favourite, he even tells me to get 'up' out of bed in the morning

He says tick tick tick while he tickle your feet which is cute. He says 'uh oh' and all dogs are 'Di' one of our dogs is Bindi but he can only say Di. He also sort of says 'don't touch' and really tries to say lasagne when he's having it, it's a favourite meal, so he kind of chants la-a-ah. Last night we thought he said Oprah! Of all things, he doesn't even say mummy yet!! He's always liked Oprah's voice so when she was on last night I said 'look it's Oprah' he stopped, looked, and said what sounded a lot like Oprah, twice he hasn't repeated it, so we're not sure lol He's a bit bossy though, when he wants something else to eat he'll do the sign for more food, point to the kitchen and tell me to get up trying to lift me by the arms, cheeky monster

He's not sleeping any better at night, and is very restless. I hardly ever put him in his cot any more even for day sleeps because he moves around so much in his sleep he was hitting his head, legs, feet or arms on the cot and hurting himself, and waking up even more often. So he sleeps on our bed, which is now a mattress on the floor,as I was telling Hannah. Quite often he rolls or crawls off in his sleep and I'll find him on the floor still asleep. I just put a sheet or blanket on him and leave him. It's better than him hurting his head in the cot or me trying to move him back to bed and waking him. Ds2 was like this too, and he still is. He used to fall out of bed even with bed rails. He's fallen off the top bunk when he was between 9 and 12 and didn't really wake up when he did! When he was about 3 I found him asleep on the middle of a stair case not a small stair case either, it was two flights up from the first floor, about 10 or 12 steps each flight, and he was on the second flight up about half way. I took a photo, when we asked him in the morning he had no idea and didn't believe us.

I hope I didn't miss anyone in the persies sorry if I did!!! I'm off to get a wink of sleep before Harry beckons.

Hi Willow - I wish I could give you some advice on the nappy wars! But it sounds like you're doing everything you can. All you can do I think is try and distract them but its hard to keep coming up with new things. Have you got a phone that plays music or videos? In desperation I once gave Matilda my iPhone and let her watch the wiggles or something while I changed her. Probably not great parenting but it worked a charm! But I'm lucky that she's really improved over the last couple of months. I get the really messy stuff done without a problem now before she wants to jump up. Food is our new battleground. She has become SUPER fussy. I've been told it's an autonomy thing because it's one area they can assert themselves but boy it's frustrating.

Hi everyone else. I won't try and get to any more personals because both our computers are down and I'm on my phone. If I had the energy I'd have a big vent. It's been one of those days.

Hi Tilda I think we have the same parenting style

the mobile doesn't work any more, and a lot of the time whatever you give him ends up in the poo

So we need to be a bit selective about what is ok to be covered in poo!
Absolutely right with the food, they can assert some control over it so they will. Not because they don't like it any more, just because they can

But they also won't starve themselves to prove their point. I just make sure everything I offer is nutritious and not many unnecessary snacks so everything that does go in is all good.

Hi everyone,

Am writing from phone from vacation with DH so no persies, but dropping in to say hi!

We are getting tons of rest and massages and facials and quality time, but I miss my little baby! She seems to be doing wonderfully with the ils, and they are taking great care of her, and sending us tons of videos and photos every day!

I really did not want to leave her but I feel like a new person with all this sleep! It helps having ils that take really good care of her.

So just dropping in to let you all know all is well and I am reading but no ime to post, and hope you all have a wonderful valentines day!
I'll post properly when I get home!

Just popping in to say that I got a

on my last HPT. Holey Moley!.... So by the looks of things I will have another little bundle around the middle of October. It's been a rough few days, really up and down. I couldn't get a decent reading from any HPT and then there was spotting cramping. It's been a rollercoaster to say the least. But this morning I got the strongest line ever and I am so tired in the afternoon. I am going to the Drs today but I usually find they just say 'congratulations' and give you a thingy for blood tests.
Anyway. fingers , toes, everything crossed this little bundle is sticky sticky sticky!

So we are still at Mum and dads, we now need a new house and a new car. What a year this will be!...OMG!

Firstly now I've managed to read back a little I realise I missed Kawazuki popping back in, so hi mate, how are you?! I wouldn't worry about your bub not talking yet, they all do so in their own time, Amelia is a good talker but I talk A LOT and so does my family so probably had no choice. Half of the bubs in my mums group have bubs who don't say much more than mum or dada, it's like everything, all in their own time. How did the hearing test go in the end?

Hi to our preggy girls, how are you all feeling? I'm getting cluckier as the months go on. I am just waiting to decide what to do with work, my new boss has told me he wants me to come back full time and if not at least 3 days a week and I'm not prepared to do that so if on Tuesday he doesn't agree to keep my days as are I will be resigning, decision made! No chance of redundancy, my agreement said that after 6 months (up on the 1st April) I am to return full-time unless otherwise arranged/agreed by my manager. He is already showing signs of being an a*se, he told the fulltime admin that he expects us to "pamper", yes "pamper" the technical staff. Like I said to her, I am a senior admin not a junior and besides, I wipe enough butts at home thanks! What a tosser huh! I think in his culture he is just not used to the concept of part-timers let alone equal rights! So anyway, I will keep you posted on that one!

Oh and BS - I can't find what happened to Eva, is she ok? ha ha yes I have been whinging about the heat but here in Perth we have had a heat wave, a couple of weeks of the high 30's, lots of horrible humidity and it's been around 23-25 degrees celcius at night. Our aircon has been on non-stop for weeks now - I turned it off this morning as there was finally a breeze, but had it back on by mid morning. Having a 2 storey house doesn't help as hot air rises so while it might be ok downstairs it gets hot upstairs pretty quick and that's where all the bedrooms are. But to get us back on the weather thing you can make us jealous with your talk of going to Paris, ho hum that is but a dream for us over here ha ha! I have to admit too you are right about the photos, remember when we were all putting them up each week, I have sooooo many to print and do Amelia's album with - only got so far as 3 months but I have sooo many I can't begin to know where to start but when you look at 12 months on there's a quarter the amount. I guess we are all too busy running after them to actually take photos now - I've heard it's worse for the 2nd as you don't have time for all that stuff. But I will try my best, can't be unfair or anything. So how are you feeling? Do you have some names picked out yet? I think the most exciting thing is to see the similarities in the girls when they're born. Gorgeous.

As for us, Amelia has been pretty ill this week, she started getting grumpy on Sunday, I assumed it was teeth as her top molar is poking through, but then Monday we noticed an ulcer in her mouth and then by yesterday she had 5 (2 of which are huge and one is on her tongue) and she had a blister on one of her little toes and a rash on her bum.......yep hand foot and mouth disease (not to be confused with foot and mouth). I was so surprised as I didn't know anyone that had had it and the doctor said it's usually found in daycares (apparently it's very common) so the only thing I can assume is playgroup. Now we're at a proper playgroup centre I guess anything can be passed on, so many different people using the toys etc and I don't know when they get cleaned. I tell you though Amelia has been so miserable, as miserable as when she had that horrible ear infection. She hasn't eaten properly for 3 days and we've had her in our bed (saves getting up to her) the last 2 nights, she had a much better night last night but I think I've had a total of 8 hours sleep (broken) in the last couple of days, here's hoping she has a better night tonight, she was much chirpier today and back to talking again - she was silent yesterday that's how sick she felt. Still eating soft foods and only little bits but you just have to ride it out, there's nothing they can do other than panadol/nurofen and SM33 or Bonjela. Poor petal, yesterday she spent the entire day crying, non-stop - I was also working from home so by the end of the day I really thought I was going to go insane, I came very close to losing it I have to admit. To make things worse, this morning I managed to get her down for a nap as she hasn't even been sleeping due to the pain in the day and 5 minutes later she starts screaming. I run into her room and she's bleeding from the mouth, it's all over her cot, in her cot, on the floor - I panicked! Went straight to the docs, he said he could see on the gum above her top teeth where it had been bleeding but didn't now why, he said ulcer's don't usually bleed so I'm thinking now maybe she hit her face on the edge of the cot or something and cut it. I've never seen so much blood, poor girl can't take a bloomin trick this week! Anyway, she's on the mend now and as usual they bounce back pretty quick don't they, but I am totally exhausted now and am desperate for a decent nights sleep, goodness knows when I'll get it!

Right, I've completely rambled again, sorry girls - not bad considering I'm so tired the words are all blurry. Hope you are all well and behaving, or misbehaving even better, especially you Lani my love. Wink wink nudge nudge. xx
