I am doing my master in clinical practice specialising in general practice..
so excited. lol busy yes
and to add to it we have just been told we can buy the alnd we want and build the house we want, so first point get land, then build temp shed and then save for our kit home and start building after getting septic and power put on the block

Hey everyone, sorry this is a quick one.
Maree passed the hearing test.
she has negative pressure in her ears, so every time she has a runny nose or sore tooth or nasal congestion she will loose hearing a bit,
she only just passed though and is on the bottom of normal, she took a while to react to some of the noises, but we dont need to do anything hearing wise.
they suggested a speech pathologist in about 6 months

Poor Maree, for babies there's almost constant tooth ache, well teething anyway hope she gets all her teeth over and out ASAP so she can have everything at an audible level. But awesome there's no huge deficit!

Kanda - CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Thats fantastic news! Oh how exciting! How did you go at the docs?

Willow - Gosh, his talking is really coming along, isn't it? Very impressive! I find that giving Michael a book is the best way to calm him down in any situation, very good for nappy changes! Could you give him one thats washable, just incase it does end up in the poop? Also, asking him to point things out is always good, he loves doing that. Like his tummy, head, ear, a/c vent, light, wall...etc That keeps him busy while I go a million miles an hour changing his nappy! Oh I know, my memory is awful too. Its really bad at work, I can't remember what I did 5 mins before. Just shocking.

Tilda - you're probably right about your Aunt, sounds more like her issues than yours. Woo-hoo on the sleeping through!!! Thats great stuff, I hope it has continued Wow, thats a relief to hear about your friend's 2.5yo. Ooh, I hope Michael is like that! Isn't it soooo frustrating when they won't eat something you've spent ages making?? Michael does that too. Tho I must say he has improved the last few days. I find he goes through stages of fussiness, then he'll be ok again for a while. Wierd.

Kawa - So good to hear the tests came back good. Hopefully she wont' need to see a speech pathologist. What is clinical practise btw?

BS - oh that sounds like heaven!! Soak it up! You're so lucky to have such wonderful IL's. How are you feeling preg-wise?

Kawa - Great to see you back in here and that's good news about Maree's hearing test. I wondered about teeth 'cause I've noticed Ryan talks less when he's teething. Good luck with the study for Masters, wow that'll keep you busy.

Rose - Sorry to hear about having to go back on the steroids. Liam's such a cutie and sounds like he's going really well.

Tilda - Love the Wiggles on the iPhone during nappy changes! It would end up in the poo here too, maybe it's a boy thing?

Beany - Gosh that's sad about the bushfires being where you grew up. I only moved one suburb away from my parents when I left home and everyday I drive past where my parent's house burnt to the ground in the Canberra bushfires. Please don't be so hard on yourself about not BFing. We do the best we can with the resources we have. You'll get another chance with your next baby. One of the November girls is about to have number 4 and is going to try again to BF (she wasn't successful with the first 3 bubs).

Willow - We have a wriggly bum who hates nappy time too. I'm still changing him on the change table but I'm thinking of packing it up and changing him on a mat on the floor. If we were using sposies I would have ripped the tabs off in my efforts to get nappies on him! Sometimes I feel like making a whole batch of velcro MCNs 'cause snaps are hard when Ryan won't stay still. And I'm with you too on the memory loss, and I'm not back at work yet.

BS - Enjoy your holiday, sounds wonderful!

Hi to everyone else

AFUS - Yep, passed the Boat Licence and yes it was hard but not too bad 'cause I studied. Been doing a bit of sewing, some clothes, MCNs (mostly newborn pockets for my SILs bub due in March) and did some breast pads for another BB member due soon. DH and I have finally decided after years of looking at extending or buying, to buy. I went to a mortgage broker and we're applying for pre-approval, also talking to our bank on Friday. We saw a house on the weekend that we were really keen on but it's already under offer. So, we might be moving soon! But we have to finish the work that we did before Christmas first.

suz - I was wondering what you were doing up! Well done on passing the boat licence test. Wow a move on the cards. Exciting. Have fun house hunting.

kawa - I'm glad Maree passed her hearing test. You must be relieved.

BS - I'm so jealous. Good on you and DH for taking some time out before #2 arrives. Hope your still enjoying being pampered

willow - I don't have any advice for the nappy wars your having. Amelia seems to have settled down on her own. Getting her nappy on after her bath was a nightmare and would get the both of us really worked up right before I had to try to get her to sleep. She settled down a lot once she realised that it was part of her routine and she would get to go to bed once her nappy was on. Not much help to you though, sorry. And I notice that my concentration and memory are still pretty lousy too (work makes it so much more noticeable) Thanks for your words hun.

Tilda - Thanks for your kind words too. I've yet to see any fussiness from Amelia but she hasn't been eating as much lately. I think she's pausing between growth spurts. It must be hard when you've worked hard preparing a nice meal and she doesn't want it. But try not to let it to get to you too much. There's no sense in battling over food. Toddlers don't starve themselves voluntarily. How is Matilda's sleep going? I hope she continues to sleep through for you.

Alison - Thankyou hun. I love that our girls share a name and birthday too (and very nearly birth time). I'm actually finding work is a little easier since I stopped trying to bring it home. I'm less stressed because I'm giving myself a break while at home and then I'm able to concentrate more when I am at work. I was thinking about asking to work from home, but I think I'm better off going into the office. It's easier to compartmentalise. Hope you and Millie are well.

Rose - Thankyou also. I'm sorry your health is still lousy. I wish there was more that could be done for you. You seem a little down in your FB posts too

Lani - How are you and Jett doing? I hope he's recovering from his dogbite.

AFUS - Amelia took 2 steps on her own yesterday. She walks really well holding on to our hands, but I'm noticing that her right hip seems stiff. She'll lift her left leg nice and high, but not her right. She kind of twists her whole body around to bring her right leg forward rather than moving from the hip and stepping. DH has booked her in to see his chiro tomorrow so we'll see what she says. I'm also taking her to the osteo for a checkup on Saturday. It's the same hip that's given her trouble all along. She doesn't seem uncomfortable though. In the meantime her speech and fine motor skills are developing almost daily.

Clinical practice, is basically nursing in general, but i'm specialising in general practice so being a practice nurse in a drs surgery and working in education and immunisation/ childhood health.
Its quite broad and I will mainly be focusing on communication, management skills and how to educate people effectively

Hi girlies!

I'm back to reality! I was really happy to have some romantic and sleep time with DH, but after 3 days I started getrting depressed about not having Eva...I was staring longingly at other babies and toddlers, wishing she was with us, and staring at her pictures in my phone every night I learned that a weekend away is fine but 5 days is too much! We got back in late last night and she had not slept well so we got her from the ils and put her in our bed (her mattress was still at the ils)...She toossed and turned a lot through the night and had a fever - I think it is teeth...She is biting on her fingers non stop. Otherwise, it is good to be home, I feel like a new person and well rested...I am really lucky to have ils that are great...Tilda, it is not whether your ils are ok with keeping the baby, it is if you are ok with leaving her!!! lololol....I woul dnot have rested at all if I had left Eva with my parents....they are great but they are just not attentive in the way my ils are....so that is the question before running off for a getaway with DH

Kanda, YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY! I read your announcement while away and was running around the hotel room I was so happy to hear the news! I am keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well, but get on here asap and keep us posted! this is so exciting! If we have #3, I plan on doing it around #2's one year mark, like we did with this one, so let me know how that goes...do you find that having two that can walk and sort of do stuff together makes it easier now? Now that sienna is out of the baby phase, do you find her and Lila getting closer? I am so curious since I am going into that soon too.

Rose, I am sorry to hear about the meds too...take care of yourself. Liam is such a handsome little man

Willow, the poo thing...I can't help you there either. Eva hates being dirty and lays there chatting away while I change her...she had one phase where she would not stop trying to roll over, but it was when she was rolling and crawling, and I found that books helped, or singing songs (I have an ipod dock in her room for music - maybe try to play him music and sing?)...I have a sort of plastic bath book that is washable, try to find something like that for him so it can be washed if he gets it in the poo? Did you ever think of changing him in the tub, like doing a wipe and stuff the rinsing him off? IF he likes the tub; maybe that woul dbe fun...?

Tilda, how are you feeling? I am so happy that Matilda is starting to sleep...I think they feel it...Eva has gotten very affectionate with me and has gone from a pretty long I love papa phase back to me...Are you due to find out the sex soon? Will you?

Beany, Michael is so cute - i love his pics...I feel ok preg, but just frustrated to not be able to be active and I am tired with the progesterone I have to take...Otherwise, the movement has started which makes it all worth it - I just lay there and rub my belly and know that this summer we will be 4 and I just can't wait!

Alison, how is everything???

Hannah, I hope you are feeling better about everything in general. I did not get to write a long response to your last long post, but you are great and love that girl so much and pay so much attention to her that you should never feel inadequate. Especially not with us! We are here to talk about everything, and we all know that raising a child is hard and making the decisions that are best for us and our children is hard and very particular in each case. Don't be so hard on yourself. The period after baby is hard on us, because I find that we find ourselves not doing the things we used to be able to do because of lack of time and energy, and then worrying that we don't do enough for our children...You can't do it all and Amelia is always your priority, and that, is good parenting! Yay on her first steps! She'll be running into everything in no time!

kanda - Yaaaay! Congrats!!!

I need to stop forgetting to come on here - I never seem to have the time to do more than pop on and babble a bit about myself. I am reading everyone's posts, and I do think about you all.

Things have been...difficult, I guess. Liam's sleep has gone to hell at night since the New Year. It's starting to improve slightly now, but I'm still chronically exhausted from a lack of sleep. No idea what it is - whether it's emotional stuff from my father dying, or his teeth, separation anxiety or a developmental thing. Thankfully, his napping during the day has continued to be okay - he's solidly back on two naps, though. But I have to be a bit precious about the timing of his naps, otherwise it all goes to hell again.

He has been making some massive leaps, though. He's walking full time now and seems to be picking up new words every few days (the latest are "crow" and an attempt at "gargoyle"). He's getting much better with being able to concentrate on playing too - and will sit and be read for for ages. Overall, he's actually getting a lot easier. If only he'd start sleeping through the night again!

My health is still a bit all over the place. The steroids are helping with the pain, at least, but the depression is making things more difficult. It'd all be better if I was getting enough sleep, I think. I just have to keep telling myself that this won't last forever. Until we get pregnant again, anyway

I just need to vent seriously - I had a nightmare after daycare today!!!

So we went to get eva from daycare at 300 wwhich is earlier than usual, since we wanted to spend time with her, and the lady goes she had a great day but this afternoon she does not want to walk. She is complaining and asking me to pick her up etc...and she takes two steps crying then goes down on all fours....she said it like a joke - I thought that was wierd, but whatever, so we walk out of there and i go to DH, put her down and let's see her walk...something is wierd here...

we put her down and she starts crying and we pick her up then put her in the car and when we get home 10 minutes later I tell DH, put her down to walk again - it is wierd she wont walk...She sometimes likes us to carry her when we pick her up since she has not seen us all day....And she starts crying, then DH is like something is wrong so we take off her shoes and see a lump on her foot - I am here thinking it is a little toy or something that fell into her sock, then we take off her sock and she is crying and her second toe was bent all the way back! like bent all the way back flat on her foot! I almost passed out, the toe stayed bent back then slowly bent back down to the right position but it was all red and swollen...We ran directly to the emergency room, to check if it was broken or whatever.....so we get there with eva wearing no shoes or socks and the doctor goes if it is fractured there is nothing to do you just have to lett her go home and see if she walks on it, and if she is still complaining by monday bring her in and we will bandage her toe to the other two to keep it still and it will heal this way....

Everything is totally fine now and once we got home she was walking all fine and everything, but we got so upset imagining that they did not even try to check what was wrong, and that she was crying and suffering for almost two hours and no one checked her f-ing foot! We are so lucky she woke up from her nap later than usual, at 2 and only had until 330 to try to sit still until we got there. The poor thing tried walking on it and it hurt so bad and the girl at daycare did not even think to check if something was wrong....I mean this is a really freak accident, and I am sure it did not pop into the girl's mind that this can happen, but really....if eva walks super well and then is crying walking, how don't they think to check her foot.

So that was our nightmare today. I am sick to my stomach about it....but she is fine and that is the essential....but I just felt so bad for her. DH and I will talk to the director of the daycare tomorrow to tell her what happened....We won't yell or anything since it was really a freak accident, but it is negligence and we want to make it clear that the girls taking care of the kids should take a bit more time doing things more carefully. DH is sick over this, he really got upset knowing she was hurting and he doesn't even want to talk about it anymoire since it makes his stomach turn...

Sorry for the selfish post here, but I needed to vent, seriously!

Tilda- How are you feeling?

AFM I am not doing to bad. Jett is walking everywhere, he has been for almost 2 weeks now. We had a stack on the Asphalt when picking my nephew up from school on Tuesday, has a bruise on his forehead and some grazing on his nose, but he is fine he cried for like 5 sec but I felt really bad, I know it wasn't my fault and I am sure we will have plenty more. Jett's sleeping at night has been great but the day naps are everywhere. Some days we get 2 x 1-1.5hr ones yesterday I fought all day with him to sleep and we got about 3x 10min naps, Tuesday we had 1x 1.5hr morning sleep. I am not doing anything different but he is everywhere.
Nappy change times can be very difficult if I don't have him on the change table or the high bed. If we are on the floor or one of the low beds forget it he wants to move anywhere and everywhere.
Things with Paul are not really any different. He did send me a dozen long stem red roses on Valentines Day and also sent me a very thoughtful card from Moonpig. He designed it and put a romantic poem in it which he made up himself. He is really trying to show me how sorry he is and how much he wants me back, but I am unsure that is what I want to do. It is so hard girls. I am so angry at what he has done. I don't know what to do. ARGH why does life have to be sooooo hard.

Hope you are all doing well have we had any progress on arranging the Sydney catch up?

Must go and do some work. I will try and get on more often, things are so hectic when I am doing it on my own, once I get Jett into bed I have washing cooking & cleaning to do and then I want to sit down and relax.

Hi BS - OMG that is absolutely awful about Eva's toe!! Did her carer do it while she was putting Eva's shoe on after her nap? I can't believe they didn't check what was going on. They should know Eva well enough and be well trained enough to know something was going on. But I'm glad you had a great break on the brighter side of things. I couldn't leave Matilda with MIL for longer than half a day really. She's so overweight that she finds it hard to cope with a toddler for extended periods of time. But one of my aunts (not the mean one LOL) has offered to take her overnight for our wedding anniversary. That will be our first night away without her!!

Lani - sounds like you're doing really well. Paul really is pulling out all stops isn't he! It must be hard to know what to do. Take your time and I'm sure you'll figure out what feels right.

Rose - Here's that Liam's sleep improves soon! I know what it's like to be chronically exhausted and it really doesn't do anything for pain levels. Luckily they're only babies for a short time!

Hannah - I hope Amelia's hip is ok. It's good to get these things checked out. But it sounds like she's still walking really well.

Willow - Have you tried systematic waking yet? I had to laugh at your friend's comment about "not sleeping through yet". Did you feel like screaming down FB "YES, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I'M TELLING YOU - HE'S NOT SLEEPING THROUGH"? Sorry...I think I'm feeling oversensitive on your behalf.

AFUS - We got another full night's sleep last night after a few nights of having to get up again. It's funny how you think after a few nights of sleeping through that it's going to last forever. Very disappointing when it's not the case. Well at least we're getting a few good nights here and there! Not much else to report at the moment. Except I did leave Matilda with a nanny/babysitter for the first time yesterday (she's only ever been left with people she knows really well and not that often). And I couldn't believe how well she took it. I told her I was going out shopping and Sally was going to play with her. She got a bit anxious and ran over to hug me but was Ok about going off to play as I left the house. No tears!! No gripping me around the neck!! No Mammmmammmmammmma!! I was a very proud mummy. Maybe she'll be OK in daycare after all. So pfft those around me that think I've created a clingy baby! But I wasn't so impressed when I got home and Matilda had obviously had a dirty nappy for quite awhile and had a really sore red bum! I mean the least you can do when you're only with a bub for two whole hours is check her poor little bum! It's not like she had anything else to worry about! Anyway, better go and do a bit of humdrum housework while little miss is doing this super long sleep. Hugs to everyone I missed in persies - Alison, Carmy, Beany, Kanda, Kawa....

Hey girls! In Berlin with my bestie...just checking in to let everyone know eva's foot is fine but she is teething bad and fell and busted her lip on top of it her lip is a swollen bloody mess! I left her with DH for three days for a preplanned trip and she seems to be getting better from what DH told me about her day...

I decided to leave for the mountains with her next week until the 29th...sort of not ready to put her back in daycare...she has had it rough lately, what with her foot and violent teething...

It is quiet! Hope you all are well!

AFUS - Ryan got his lower canines and molars together, but now they're through he's suddenly developing in leaps and bounds. Ladies we have walking AND talking where there had previously a little talking and a couple of steps. Very exciting!
