Turtledove forgot to say when you asked earlier that I currently work as a child and family health nurse. I did general nursing for a while before doing 8years in midwifery before doing CFHN. I have only been qualified as a CFHN for a year now. Still did 1-2days a week in midwifery just to keep my hand in. I am now on leave until November hopefully.

Rosey its hard to say how long DS sleeps as every day is different. Overnight he feeds 3-4times at least. We are almost 100% co sleeping now as I just couldn't settle him in his cot. I do have a monitor on him as I worry about SIDS. During the day his happy if I have him on me. Otherwise I am lucky to get 2 hrs from him. His got a bit of reflux. Not medicated I just hope it doesn't get much worse as they say the 4month mark is usually when the severity peaks.

Mildez with your DS's reflux does he spit up or do you recognize other symptoms? I'm thinking DS is suffering from reflux. Did you end up getting yourself a wrap or carrier? Hope so otherwise you must be knackered. DS has been living in the ergo or the HAB.

Gosh I love this boy. Feeling so emotional he is already 6 weeks!

Gosh I love this boy. Feeling so emotional he is already 6 weeks!

Rosey DS does have little spits but that part isn't to bad although its definitely getting worse. What upsets him the most and its hard to explain but its like he gets a pain and holds his breath. He only does it when feeding or just afterwards. He also doesn't seem to get comfort from feeding anymore its more to satisfy his hunger but unless my boobs are quiet soft and the milk flow is poor he doesn't seem to enjoy been on there. He wants to but fusses a lot like there is something holding him back. I would only class it as quiet mild at the moment certainly not needing medicating.

In other news DS was immunised a few days ago. He had a little temp 12hours afterwards but now seems back to normal. As for sleeping in his own bed that's not happening. He was also weighed for the first time in a month and is 5180grams and 58cm long. I expected him to be longer as he was 54cm at birth.

Mildez - well done on doing further study, even after having children. I'm sure it has its moments, but it must be lovely working with babies. I was asking because I was wondering if if was something that you could do from home, to prevent needing child care, but it would probably mean a change in direction. Many nurses do night shift when they have young families, but I don't know how they function!

Rosey - every day is different. But he does usually sleep 3-4 hours at night, in his bassinet, gets up for a feed and straight back to sleep. During the day he fights sleep more, but usually has 3 or 4 naps, with longer awake times in between. He has been a good sleeper ever since we were in the special care nursery. It is the feeding that is our challenge!

Forgot to say, that's on a good day. Other days he can be awake every 1.5-2 hours from 3am onwards, by the time I feed him, get him settled, pump etc, I only get about 30 mins sleep in between. Usually on a day that we have to go out, so I can't catch up with a nap. Some days he wants to play at 4am. Other times he is so restless I put him in his electric swing, and sleep on the couch. Still other days, he just wants to be held, cuddled, bounced & rocked, and I am so sleepy and my arms are falling off... Not that I can complain tho!

Rosey, maybe there is one more persistent soul just waiting its time

is it possible to postpone the decision for a while? In my family, it was Mum who had the op. She had it reversed a few years later, and had more children. Not sure if it can be reversed for guys tho?

Your DS sounds similar to mine Mildez except instead of holding breath he does a little shriek kind of noise like he can't catch his breath. He also gets very congested when we lay him down. Such a guessing game. I hope your DS improves! I hear you on the no bed sleeping too, it's hard! I can get him down and sometimes he even self settles but awake screaming within 5 mins.

Ladies does anyone have any aches and pains? I am almost 7wks pp and I have just started to get lower abdominal aches. I am also still bleeding, small smear/spots like a dark grape colour. I don't know if it's because I've been over doing things or there's something else going on, maybe some retained product. Though my placenta was whole and intact.

Rosey my DS does that shriek thing too. It must frighten him as afterwards and when his holding his breath he flaps his arms/legs around in a panick like he can't breath. That's when its like his holding his breath. And when he breaths again he screams afterwards. Its horrible to watch. Probably doesn't take as long for him to take a breath then it seems. How is the aches and loss going? Has it gone now? I basically stopped bleeding at 3weeks PP except the odd pink smear. It was super heavy until I lost a piece of retain product at 2.5weeks. So nice not to need to wear pads. Hopefully AF stays away for a long time. Although I would like my libido to return soon and I know it wont until my cycle returns.

My bubba boy was weighed and immunised earlier this week. His up over 2kgs on his discharge weight. Now weighs 5.18kgs. His also just grown out of the 0000 clothing. So sad to give them away, throw them out but we won't be needing them again. I am also just recovering from my 2nd bout of mastitis. I had it recurrent with no2 but managed to keep it away with no3 but now nothing I do prevents it worsening so I am back on ab's again. I've also returned to studying which is a big downer. I wish I could spend my next 6months enjoying DS and not getting in a flab over assessments and the likes.

How is everyone else going?

Im here, ive been so slack sorry girls. Ive offically got my period too....****ers... i had my papsmear at 6 weeks, and had a week of bleeding afterwards, i thought it was a bit much to be caused by the papsmear, and what do you know, exactly amonth later im bleeding again. Same thing happened with Spock. Stupid uterus. Grrr
Quark is good, she does that screaming no breathing thing too =( not fun. If you gently blow on the face bub will breathe. Its hard watch tho, and not know why they are upset.

Boo to AF returning so soon. My AF returned at 6weeks with no1 but no 2 and 3 it was 6months. I hope it doesn't return for ages seeing as I wont be ttc again. I wanted it back asap after my last so I could track my cycle and ttc again and it kept me waiting. Just my luck it will return quickly this time now I don't need it.

Is anyone elses baby having any skin problems? DS is looking like his got eczema behind his ears and his getting cradle cap. Nothing I am using is helping.

My DS has cradle cap in his eyebrows and top of his head. Going to use a bit of castor oil for his hair, obviously not touching his eyebrows. He also has very smelly hands as he has then squeezed to tightly all the time, I wash them several times a day

We have the cradle cap on eyebrows and a bit behind ears. I don't do anything special for it more that a wash in the bath. We are struggling with the manky neck rolls, had same problem with Spock, I just can't keep them clean and dry. They stink and her skin is now macerated too =(

Cradle cap here, too. He got it at 3 weeks in his eyebrows, now has it over his head. I use coconut oil because it is also anti-fungal. Leave it on for half hour or so, then gently rub a towel over it. The oil helps loosen the flakes.

Still no AF for me

DH said one of the guys at his work is doing cry it out. They let their month old scream from 12:30-2:30am before the dad (who never helps overnight) went to tend to her.

I didn't know people still did that. I thought everyone read belly belly!

That's horrible. I felt bad today for letting DS cry whilst I finished the vacuuming. It was under 2minutes as I am expecting visitors and in that time he stopped and had put himself to sleep. His still asleep now an hour later lying on the floor on the lounge room on a pillow (a bit of a SIDS no no) but I am watching him constantly. I am wondering if I attend to him to quickly as he never settles himself normally. His getting a bit better. I am sometimes able to rub his head to get him to sleep. Usually he needs a nipple in his mouth. If his not hungry or in his witch hour DH was able to take him for a walk in the pram in his witchy period. As soon as he stopped the pram he howled

Oh yea that's awful

. Poor baby!

I can get DS to self settle. Do feed, play, sleep - wrap while happy, into bassinet, dummy and ocean sounds. Off he goes. The problem is staying asleep. He wakes minutes later screaming, he's the same in his rocker. I can spend hours doing the resettle and back down, but still only five mins. I truly feel it's reflux. Poor darling. After a certain amount of tries he goes straight into the ergo where he sleeps happily.
