i think my little man is starting to smile. it is often followed by a vomit, but that happens pretty often anyway. i love when he grips my hands. He is not happy atm. He has about 2 or 3 hours a day when he is awake and not screaming, unfortunately it is usually between 2 and 5 am. i see the mchn tomorrow so gonna chat and see what she thinks. i got an aba counsellor to check out his feeding, and she thought there might be something strange going on. Will see an LC and see what she thinks.
Woohoo BAL!! So glad you popped in here, it makes sense really, to see where all our babies are at by his adjusted age. I'm so excited you are home!
Hot1 - that sounds tough. My little one can certainly yell when she's not happy, but it's nothing like what you're experiencing. What did the ABA counsellor mean when she said she thought there was something going on? What do you think?
As for us, DD2 had her vax yesterday, 2 mths already! She was fine, I fed her during and apart from a very unimpressed cry at first, she settled really quickly. She's weighing over 5 kgs now, so only a week or so and she'll be double her birth weight, the little chubba! DP pointed out that the legs on her 000 wondersuits are starting to look a bit short. I think we'll get a few more weeks yet though. She's finally settled in the car, unless she's due for a feed or has something else going on. But as long as she's been fed, is comfortable and we have classical music on (she seems to prefer violins) she will doze off most of the time. Or at least stay awake but not scream.
She stays awake for such long stretches it's no wonder she has to sleep so much overnight. During the day I am wearing her in a wrap constantly, because she doesn't like sleeping on her own. She's good at night, for most of it, until after an early morning feed, when she likes to snuggle in bed. I love sleeping with her, she's a very snuggly baby and she wakes up with a smile in the morning. She likes to sleep until at least 7am - yeehaa!!

HotI, that doesn't sound fun love Have you seen a chiro for bubba? We did for Maddie this week and she is finally turning her head to the right , which she wasn't before. She does do some vomiting, just because my let down is too much for her, and she likes to suck and I think over fills herself. So I have given her a dummy. She also has short periods of time where she is inconsolable, but they are relatively short in nature. I think that it is due to gas.
Jen as for sleep during the day, Maddie is crazy for her sleep!!! Today I had to wake her up at 10:30am to go out and then she fell back to sleep by about 11:30 had a 45 min nap in arms. We got in the car at about 1 and she slept again till 1:30 when she woke getting her out of the car. She was back to sleep at 3 and I woke her up by opening up the curtains at 5:30 and is now back to sleep again at 7 :30.... it's nearly 9. I know that sounds awesome but some days I almost worry that something is wrong that she sleeps so much. But i am not gonna question it to much. At least you are getting great sleep over night. Jemima was like that
We are seeing the gp tomorrow. I need to get her vaccinations done, and she still has a gummy eye. She weighed in at 4.950kg on tuesday which was when she turned 8 weeks. She is smiling like crazy when she is awake! I love it. She has so much delight in her smile. I better go sit down and chill out for awhile. Never know what the night will hold
Hi girls. It's been a while since I've popped in here. How is everyone doing?
DD2 is growing and developing well. She actually sleeps at night, waking 2-3 times for feeds and going straight back to sleep afterwards. She's a very happy bub and we gets loads of smiles. She's very chatty already and discovered her hands last week. I love it when they do that, it's so cool watching her explore her world. I'm really enjoying this time with her. The first 12 months with DD1 were awful (partly because she spent so much time screaming and partly because we were dealing with my mum's cancer) so it's great to be able to relax and enjoy this time around.
Ah no, Bella! My bout was Sat night, but I'm better now. Hope you are soon too.
TC, sounds like much the same as us. I think partly it's the awareness too that things all change so quickly and they aren't babies for very long.
H is exhausted by 6pm after her busy, chatty, smiley day. She's happy to 'play' on the floor while awake but needs cuddles for sleeping. She's having a bath around 6, feed and then into bed. Depending on how cranky she was and how much she fed, she sometimes wakes for a quick feed at 8pm. And then that's it from her until about 2.30-3am, where she has a quick feed in bed and cosleeps until wake up. Which for her is usually 7.30-8am, although if I sleep in she'll sometimes go for longer. I guess she's making up for the interruptions during the day! Not always so great for my bbs. They seem to be working it out gradually.
She's reaching out to touch things but mostly likes looking. Even if it's just her hand (or me, I'm her favourite atm). She seems to have strong legs but is showing no sign of moving to roll or anything yet. I'm hoping it stays like that for a while yet!
Aubrey is a really happy, smiley bub too! And very, very babbly which I'm not used to as DD1 has significant speech difficulties and never babbled. She is super strong too and can sit and stand with very little support, I keep expecting her just to take off walking haha.
Only frustrating part is she is a really lazy feeder who doesn't like to latch properly and has started clamping down at times (my DD1 got teeth just before 3 months so might have another early teether?). She also doesn't really like feeding to sleep like my DD1 did (and still does lol) which was so easy so I miss that!!! She sleeps longer stretches than DD1 did even at 2 so that is nice and she doesn't cry ever. She actually got overtired the other night so cried properly for the first time ever and I freaked out wanting to rush to the doctor because I thought she must have broken a bone or something as she just never cries.
I'm loving the sister interactions! Imogen is a big fan of Bree
Bella - Oh no! Hope it clears up and ypu feel better soon.
Jennifer - Your nights sound wonderful. Imogen feeds hourly from 5-8pm and then again at 10. Thankfully DH is happy to cook tea and wait on me so I camp out on my lounge chair on the evenings.
Jellyfish - Isn't it awesome watching sisters get to know each other? Amelia is my rival for Imogen's attention. She watches her in fascination. And Amelia is such a proud big sister. I just have to watch that she doesn't kill Imogen with love
haha sounds very similar to here... I can't remember if I'd mentioned this story before but I once ducked in to the toilet only to come out to DD1 removing DD2's nappy and attempting to change it lol. Our new word around here is "space"... Aubrey just needs a bit of space every 5mins haha.
I must admit I am struggling with dd1 here a bit ATM. . I think she is acting out cos she is feeling unsettled. I am very busy and distracted with moving house in a weeks time and she is paying the price of that move at a pretty sensitive time. So she is being quite naughty and no listening to me. I have lost my temper with her a few times to my shame. I have felt a little out of control and it isn't how I want to be. I know she just wants more of my time and focus. She has pulled a few things apart that has cost me huge amounts of time that I would rather have spent with her, but she doesn't understand that. I just have to remind myself that she is two and to breathe. I know we will get there. I must think I am some kind of super woman to be moving house on my own with a toddler and a newborn. Reality is a bit different really. Anyway girls just think of me this time next week.
Ah Bella, that is tough on DD1 and on you. is there someone who could take her to the park or better yet for the day, so you can pack in peace and then spend time with her?
Bella, my almost 2 year old has been doing similar things for a few weeks. You are a star to be moving house at this time, i'm struggling just to keep this place tidy. When you move you will have lots of space where your daughter can run off some of that energy and you will be able to re-g568ki
My DD has been breastfeeding her doll, very cute! DD is a little confused though cos baby can be fed from either nipple or bellybutton apparently! When i was pregnant, my bellybutton popped early and DD was very fascinated by it, must resemble a nipple somehow.
Hi girls, thanks for the encouragement. I somehow lost this thread with the new app. It is a pain in the arse! I have to go an deliberately look for things.
Anyway. So the move has been delayed because we found out we could save $23k if we switched banks, so we hVe given our bank the chance to meet the offer, and have begun the application process with another bank. It is stressful to say the least. I have 70% of the house packed. It is difficult because I have boxes everywhere and because I still am not sure of settlement date I am feeling unsettled. I think it will be Monday week. So more time to pack slowly, but I just wanna be in the new house.
Dd1 was sick overnight and dd2 is unsettled today. Dd2 had her meddles last week and had a pretty hard time of it then too. Poor poppet
Hi girls! Quiet in here, I know I keep popping into so many other discussion threads and bumping into most of you in there that I forget about this thread.
DD2 and I went to our HB group get together today and I weighed her while I was there. 5.745 kg clothed, which means she's doubled her birth weight already. She's got chubby rolls and dimples in her knees and elbows! DD1 was such a skinny little thing that I'm surprised at the difference.
DD2 is a real chatterbox too. She's very smiley and chatty with me, DP and DD1, but a bit less forthcoming with other ppl. When she starts cooing and blowing raspberries at me she'll keep going for quite a while. And now when she's falling asleep, instead of crying she'll talk to herself a bit. It's too cute! She's much better in the car, most of the time.
She only naps during the day, if she can she'll grab two naps put together while I wear her on my back. She's knackered by the end of the day and is usually out to it by 7pm. She's a bit random with night waking, sometimes once around midnight and in the early morning we're cosleeping, so I'm not paying attention to when or how often. But this way I'm getting plenty of sleep!
YOur DD is almost same weight as my DS! He was 5.800kg last thurs. (nak ed) . He has gone from above 98th percentile for weight to just above the 50th. He is pretty long, and the 000 suits with feet are almost too short.
Our ABA group had a session on baby wearing, i finally understand most of the terms (half buckle etc), and can easily see how people get addicted.
DS is doing well. i love his smile. i think he is going to much quieter and more chilled than DD- more like me than DH. he is still refluxy and chucky, and gets rashes. i'm thinking of going dairy free again, and maybe eliminating other foods for awhile to see if it is something i am having that he is reacting to.
DD is driving me crazy atm. Thankfully, she has settled down with DS- only have to worry about her hurting him with love rather than just hurting him. It is her 2nd bday soon, not having a party this year cos there is a heap going on in april but will have meals with both sets of grandparents and whichever aunties and uncles can come.
Baby Bonus started coming through this week. I have also had a few days of work, where i can take DS, which has also come in handy. I have almost finished paying my midwife.
Strictly speaking, as far as the FAO is concerned, I'm not working. But I am heading into the city every Monday from here on with a nanny to take care of DD2 and bring her to me for bfing. I have managed to get back DD1's nanny and I am so relieved - we know and like her and she's experienced. Up to now I've taken DD2 with me and she's been fine, but that's not a long term solution.
Your DS is a bit younger still, Hot1, but he certainly had a head start on weight. She's also stretching out her 000 suits. Her big feet don't help!
And in further good news, DD2's slowing down the dirty nappies. The last two days I've had several wet nappies only. Woohoo!

I think I have you all beat with my little boofa haha... at her two month needles she was 7.1kg and 67cm. GIANT baby. Seriously giant. She is wearing 00s because of her legnth. DD1 was this size at 9 months! So I've gone from one extreme to the other.
