Sleeping - Arlea is still in her bassinette next to me, but is really way too big. I am going to see if I can fit her cot in our room, like you Bek I love having her next to me.
She is starting to wriggle out of her swaddle but I still feel that it helps her to settle into a deeper sleep. She does hate to be wrapped if she's not sleepy. A few times in the middle of the night I have had to unwrap her to let her play for a bit - I doze in bed, then when she starts to get vocal I re-wrap her, & off she goes.
She has me up anywhere from one to three times a night, depending on how tired she is. She did have a bit of a pattern happening but it has disappeared!
Sorry for the lack of personals, hope you are all well...... I'm finished expressing & off to bed! Sleep well babies
Sarah - we're still feeding pretty consistently every 3 hours including overnight - glad to hear I'm not the only one. Zac has done the odd 4-5 hour stretch of sleep, but no signs of that becoming a habit just yet. It would be nice to have a bit more sleep overnight wouldn't it?
Tinsel - great to hear from you! I'm with you on having bubs next to you - it seems like neither you or bubs have to get fully awake and therefore both easier to settle back down. My DH sleeps in our bedroom and I sleep in the nursery but DH has the baby monitor with him so if I need help I can easily call out to him. It's working pretty well for us, but I am looking forward to some bigger sleeps from Zac so I can get back to sleeping in my own bed ;-)
We had mothers' group yesterday and one of the mums commented how Zac always is so smiley and chatty. Of course you know what happened then! - he absolutely cracked it and screamed the house down
I'm finding the feed/play/sleep thing isn't quite a one-size-fits-all - a bit like Sarah I think. Since Zac generally only sleeps up to 45mins at a time, it goes more like feed/play/little feed/sleep/play/feed/play/sleep... I wish I could get him to sleep a bit longer during the day, but at the moment I will be happy if I can get him settled a bit earlier/faster than I'm managing at the moment. Either I'm missing his cues or he's changed them I think!
Anyhow, the grizzling has started, so time for a feed I think.
Hi All
Yep Jacob feeds 2 or 3 times overnight too.... i have had a few longer stints but they are not a pattern yet and when he goes along stretch he then makes up for it with waking more ofetn for the rest of the night... he also wakes and grizzles and needs settling froma bout 5am onwards... but i can get hin back to sleep with settling other than feeding bc i know he isnt hungry and he wont feed if i try!!!
I tried the bag last night - umm not a success. he lay there playing with his hands and arms and so i eventually wrapped him after about 45 mins and he went straight to sleep. so i thonk i cant go cold turkey on the wrapping like i did with Noah and i will have to transition him. might start athread on how i do that as he is def too strong to be swaddled anym ore and i am really scared he will get the covers over his head again.
I have him in his moses basket next to our bed at the moment but he is WAY too big... thinking i need to move him to his cot but i like having him in our room. DH and i were discussing this morning, we thought about moving the cot to our room but not sure how Noah will take that. so not sure what to do. i may have to sleep in his nursery for a bit, as it is the other end of the house and also bc he does those unsettled times when i settle him back to sleep - but id ont want to be getting up abd down all night long for a quick settle (i dont mind for a feed). Really we should move house to a bigger one and his room woudl be closer but we are likely to relocate nexty year so we cant do that til we know what we are doing...
Cate - the feed play sleep thing was never consistent here with DS1 and it isnt with Jacob either... sometimes we seem to follow it and others not and his routine seems a little like Zac's. I think all of these things are great in an ideal world...
Heva - Jacob is in 00 wondersuits (though they are getting a little short) and 00 in most other brands - well 00 isa little roomy and 000 is pretty tight so in between i guess. i bought him some americal apparel suits size 3-6 months and they are TINY! bonds wondersuits seem to be odd sizing and i think they shrink? not sure... i am finding ti hard atm as the weather is so changeable - i bought hims ummer stuff the other wk because it got hot and now we are having 12 dgerees MAX... i am also a bit of a bind bc of his skin so i cant overheat him.. so we are doing the layered thing a lot. i also find the one piece suits with no feet are no good anymore- they keep rising up and look like shorts! so he wears mainly pants/top combo and occasionally 1 piece with feet. one piece with feet for bed too. geez you didnt ask for all this detail did you LOL!
I have decided to join weight watchers and am heading to a meeting today. i want to shift 5kg that hung around after Noah and about another 5-10 kg... i hope i can do it!
With regards to getting up at night to feed question, I should have worded the question differently So here goes: Do you get up out of bed to feed bub or feed in bed? I am still feeding in bed and dozing but my neck is getting so sore and Eva is getting too heavy to lay across me.
Mamapan and others - in regards to the wrapping Sam was getting out of his wraps too but I know he still needs wrapping as he won't settle without either. I am using the kiddopotamus wraps (excuse spelling) they have two things of velcro on them and he doesn't get out of them. It is really easy and has been great the last few weeks so I would recommend them if you still need to wrap.
Bekz - I have always fed Sam in the dark in his room. I have a comfy chair in there, so I get him up with just the night light on, feed him in the chair and pop him back into bed. He has always gone straight back to sleep after the feed with no dramas. I have had him in his cot from day 1 though because I knew if I had him in my room, he would never leave!!!
Sam is still in 0000's!! You guys are moving great guns!! I think though in the next week or so it will be 000, the jumpsuits are starting to get a bit tighter but actual t shirts and clothing is still okay.
Sam has slept from 10pm til 6am the last 4 nights in a row!! I am so happy!! I am not expecting it to last though, with daylight saving and also he hit 12 weeks this week so I am sure it will all go out the window!! He is talking a lot now and touching and grabbing at objects in his play gym which is great. He really is discovering his hands. We are in a pretty good feed/play/sleep routine. He is feeding around every 3 hours during the day and staying awake for just around 1 hr 15 now at a time. He went to sleep so well the minute the sun went down so as his bedtime is around 6pm, he is a little harder to settle as it isn't dark yet!! We start our day at 6am though.
We are moving next Wednesday! House is almost packed! Problem is, his bedroom at the moment is right next time mine and the new house he is right at the other end of the house! I think I am going to have seperation issues big time!! We are also moving to a two storey house so now in our little house I can always check on him but now I have to go all the way up stairs!! I am sure I will be right after a few weeks! Hope he settles in his new room, I think it is a fair bit lighter than the one he is in now which may affect things.
Jess - hope everything is going okay? I hope you can have a good chat with the gp.
lovely cate - sometimes the feed/play/sleep thing doesn't work and I feel like his cues are slightly changing too! Sam was only staying awake right on an hour, now he is just going past that so I am really trying to re learn his cues again!!
Miss excited - great to hear Ash is sleeping through too!! I thoroughly enjoyed a few glasses of wine with friends on sunday evening! So good to be social again and feel a bit like your old self again!
Sorry to anyone I have missed, trying to get ready to get to the gym this morning, do a load of washing, eat something all before Sam wakes up!! his morning sleep is usually his longest - but as we all know they keep you guessing every day!! Hope everyone is well!
Question - how often are you guys taking your babies to the weighing stations? I last went around 9 weeks and haven't been back, Sam is 12 weeks this week so I guess I should look at weighing him again??
