Hi ladies, I've finally got around to finding this thread!
My not so little boy, Finn, was born on the 22nd June. I had a fantastic natural, drug free birth - I'm amazed at how much easier it was second time around! Was not expecting that! He weighed 4.6kg (10pd 1oz), 54cm long and 35.5cm head. Had a small tear that didn't require stitches and was home 4 hours later. The first 2 days were tough as he wouldn't sleep and only wanted to feed, but once my milk came in he really has been a pretty easy baby. Touch wood! DD on the other hand has been doing her best to drive me up the wall. I know it must be a really hard transition for her and I feel so guilty whenever I lose patience with her, but man juggling the two of them is tough!
Those that have boys - is there any trick to avoiding getting sprayed at nappy times? The two of us end up covered in wee which is not fun in the early hours of the morning!
Claire: they raise their penis when they are about to pee, keep an eye on the wang. Have a cloth ready to put in place.

Welcome Claire, congrats on the birth of Finn! My bub wasn't so small either, 4.2kg. Hope you find a bit of a groove soon, I can only imagine how much harder things would be with a newborn and a toddler.
Uh MoT, yes I do hate you :lol: Nah, that's fantastic, enjoy your rest! Again, you'll need it much more than me anyway, you've got two older kids as well!
We're still trying to find our groove with sleep here. The last few days/nights she will only sleep if DH or I are holding her. Usually me - she'll fall asleep feeding, and snuggle in to a really good deep sleep. As soon as I move her though, she's stirring and wakes shortly after. I don't know if maybe it's because it's so warm snuggled in after a feed, it's relatively cold in the bed. Still can't bring myself to have her in bed with us though, I'm a really heavy sleeper and would prefer not to have the worry. We wrapped her for a while, until she started struggling to get at least one hand out. We stopped wrapping her to sleep and that worked for a bit, but now when she stirs her hands go straight to her face and she scratches herself and wakes up. So tonight we've wrapped her again, and she seems to like it again! Her other problem has still been wind - DH got loads of farts out of her today and she's been a lot better since then. It's horrible when she has gas, I can hear her belly gurgling and she looks like she's in so much pain :( Unfortunately the dummy doesn't work for her either, she just spits it out. I think she doesn't quite get it cos it's different to a nipple, she doesn't have to have her mouth open so wide.
Had that 2 week appointment yesterday - bit of a joke really! The GP was kind of useless, asked the same questions as the community midwife, so we'd been through it all already, and really didn't have much to say. Then he just sent us to the nurses for Belley's checks - she put on 300g in the last week, she's now at 4.8kg :o And she's grown 2cm in 2 weeks! I jumped on the scales tonight to see if that's affected me at all, and I'm now 1kg below my pre-pregnancy weight. Feeling great, so we went shopping for new clothes on Thursday :)

thats awesome KT shes doing so well (her unsettleness could be a groth spurt), if her wind doesnt ease up you can try infacol or gripe water (my son had colic and it helped sooooooooo much)
fantastic you already lighter then pre pregnancy
DH has taken the 3yr old drs as his got an angry rash all over him so me and tahtah are going to bath stinky and have a shower :D
gosh weve been quiet for the last couple of days hope that means our bubbas have been little darlings xoxxo
Hudson had his 2 week health check his 100g above his birth weight
cept ive gotta get his tounge tie checked and the local dr isnt available so i gotta find another dr who treats them

still only waking for one feed a night :D but cluster feeds for hrs on wake up and dinner time and sometimes bedtime, but cant complain
Daddy has been trying to have a conversation with Hudson tonight but everytime i speak Hudson loses interest and searches for me lol
Gosh MOT I'm so jealous of your one wake up a night! Our little man feeds 2 hourly day AND night - I'm praying it's just a growth spurt because I'm really struggling without much sleep, We're also dealing with some bad nappy rash. Think it's fungal so hopefully the cream starts to work soon.

Hi all. I'm sleepy! Felicity has been having really unsettled periods from around 10pm til 1-2am. Cluster feeding alot. Then once she settles down it's only for 2-3 hours max before she wants to feed again. Throw in my two year old having a bunch of bad nights lately and I'm buggered. But I am lucky, in that my dh is home for 4 weeks so I'm managing by napping during the day. Felicity is much more settled during the day- she seems to have her days and nights backwards. Hopefully she'll get over that soon!
Hi guys. I have been reading but haven't been on the computer much to reply. It's too hard on the phone :D
Things are going well with Hamish. He's over his birth weight which is good, feeding well but suffering from wind, normally in the afternoons and early mornings. He just wants to suck for comfort at those times which can be a bit of a drain for me, but I'm hoping it starts to settle soon. We just basically lay and rub his back and eventually he settles. He is mostly only waking twice during the night for feeds and I've been tending to do the early morning feed in bed so I can doze while he feeds.
My biggest complaint has been when he falls asleep during a feed and doesn't finish the feed and then wants to feed again in an hour and a half. It's not really a great drama just a bit of a pain. Apart from that he's been good. DS1 is really adjusting to the role of big brother. He's always giving Hamish kisses :D It's very cute!
Anyway's hope everyone is going well. I rang the Ob today and made an appointment for my 6wk check up. Have to make one with the Peaditrician for Hamish's 8wk check up soon. Hard to think that I'm already thinking about that!

Thanks for the welcome! sorry havent posted again, we have been settling in back at home on Saturday and have had a few unsettled nights just like Lani wrote.
Lani we have the same unsettled periods, its causing us to be real grumpy (dh & I) I am thinking about the dummy, hubby refuses. sigh...:
Annabel usually seems to feed around 2am, 6am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 6pm, 10pm and then onward until 2am not sleeping, but last night she did sleep which was good, so will see what tonight brings.

Hey there everyone :) Hope you're all getting more rest, sounds like there are still a lot of unsettled bubs out there.
We've actually fallen into a bit of a routine - Annabelle just seems to always wake up and feed at the same time the last week. Overnight is quite good - she has a bath at 7, feed, then either keeps cluster feeding or has a chat with DH, feeds to sleep at about 9. Then she's up at 1, then 4:30, then 7:30, 9:30, 10:30, awake time, back to sleep at 1:30, 3:30 feed & awake time, 5:30 sleep until bath time at 7 (perfect for DH & I to have dinner!). She's also getting in a lot more little bits of awake time outside of the three big blocks, she's so alert!
Belle, how are you doing now that you're at home? I found things so much easier and more relaxed when we got home. Hope you're settling in well.
Aw Tara, your DS1 sounds so adorable :) Nothing like seeing a child with his/her little baby brother/sister I reckon. We had the same problem with Annabelle falling asleep halfway through a feed too. Now I feed her til she falls asleep, then change her nappy. It wakes her enough to feed for longer, and then she sleeps for longer. She also did the comfort sucking too - for fours hours one time, my nipples were killing me!! I think in her case it was bad wind - apparently the sucking reflex helps. She wouldn't take a dummy though :doh: Now I make sure I wind her well after feeds. We did buy some infacol, but it says it can't be used until she's one month old, bugger!
Lani, I hope you're getting more sleep, or at least some relaxing rest time. It's hard to function when you're running on empty :hug: Hope your DH is looking after you while he's home.
MoT, how is Hudson doing with his tongue tie? Is it very severe? If he's feeding well anyway, does it still need to be snipped or can it be left?
AFM, I'm halfway through my first week with DH back at work :( I'm fine - Annabelle is so easy, I get plenty done or sleep when she does - this is sooo much better than work!! It's hard on DH though, he misses her like crazy during the day - he even misses changing nappies :lol: I have so many moments lately when I look at her when she's all snuggled in after a feed, and I just think "Hey, I have a BABY!! This is actually my daughter!" And when she wakes up and I get settled in to feed her, she does the most adorable smiles when she realises I've got her. And the best is the totally excited look she gets when she hears me unclip my top and sees the boob come out - it's priceless! She was giving DH massive smiles last night in the bath, he was so happy :)
