I'm in Perth BubbaT - out at The Vines. That's really kind of you lovely - thanks so much for the very kind offer. I'm hoping that I'll get mine early this week.

Got to have a bit of a woo hoo. My "big" girls are having a sleep over with my folks and I've just come home from dinner with my lovely DH and Lexie. My beautiful mystical magical girl slept the whole way through dinner without making a sound - the waitresses actually came up to us when we went to pay the bill and asked if they could look in the pram (I had a muslin over it) because they didn't believe a baby could be so good. I'm soooooo incredibly blessed.

Just dropping in quickly to say hello.... I haven't read back very far... bad Dory.

Naomi - welcome and congrats on a beautiful little girl to complete your family. I have to admit I am not sure I am done yet..... but I don't have age on my side.... we'll see I guess. It's hard to think that this pregnancy and baby may be my last. Oh dear, just thinking about it makes me teary. Hope you are settling in well with 3!

BR- I hear you! Although I think little RB may have actually had a tummy bug, as I wasn't feeling that flash for a day or so at the same time that RB was unsettled. It was 24 hours of non stop feeding, changing, possets ( how do you tell if a new born is actually vomiting? RB was keeping a lot down, but a lot more than usual was coming up too), and explosive poos and loads of farts. Things have settled, but I am still reeling from the exhaustion. For some reason I can't sleep during the day... part of that is HB, but part of it is me. Crazy, but I am not as exhausted as I expected with so little sleep.

Lulu - that is super cool. Glad that 3 is manageable! Hope you got something nice to eat for dinner.

Bubba - how are you? Any better?

Milly - I meant to say congrats the other day and got sidetracked.

Here's a question for those who've got more than 1 little love of their life....... did you struggle a little saying goodbye to that very special relationship you had with number 1, when number 2 came along? I adore having 2, but I honest to goodness really do miss being able to spend time with HB, the way we used to. I just feel I parent both badly at the mo, never having enough time to really do the best I can? I suppose it doesn't help that I can't drive or lift HB at the mo, so I really am marginalised from her care. I do try and keep up some very special rituals we had, and that helps. Blah I don't know, I felt like a spectator for the first two weeks of RB's life while she was in special care, and now I feel that way with HB. Just a lot tougher than I imagined it would be. Anyway, this is my sleep time. Unless I want to be super fatigued, I'd better go to bed.

Hope everyone has a good night... with 3+ hourly feeds, quick 20 minute feeds, and easy and fast settling. We can always dream.

Hello lovelies - should have posted in here earlier, but just got home yesterday and have a VERY sick DS who is vomiting and snotty all at once. My big exit from the hospital was slightly detoured by the fact I had to walk downstairs with a nurse pushing a trolley with all my stuff in it because DS was so sick we had to leave him in the car.

I will catch-up on persies in here very soon - BF'ing is going well courtesy of hydrogel breast pads. Can't recommend them enough for those with attachment issues.

Hopefully CT will be in here very soon too!

    Hi eveyone,

    Congrats and welcome Naomi!

Lulu, dinner out sounds awesome, what a good little girl L is!

Bubba, how are you doing? Is your body starting to recover properly now? I have been suprised by how long it's taking for me to recover and I didn't have half your complications. No pain killers for the last two days so I must be on the mend!

Dory, don't be too tough on yourself with the change from 1 to 2. I can't offer any words of wisdom though, i'm sure what you are doing is lovely for HB. Hopefully you'll feel better when you can lift etc and then there will be new rituals that you'll create with the two of them which will be special too.

AFM - it seems to be 2 stepps forward one step back with sleeping and feeding and settling here. Yesterday was a forward step, last night, backwards. We are getting there though and I'm starting to feel less like I've been hit by a truck! Little J has a bit of a tongue tie which we are getting cut on Tues so hopefully that helps with feeding. I also have nipple vasospasm, thankfully it's not too painful during feeds but after - ouch!!!
Our newborn pics went better second time round, we get to see the gallery today i think and the sneakpeaks so far have been totally cute so can't wait to see the rest.

Anyway, hope you are all well!

    Hi ladies,

Will do persies when I can get 5 mins on the pc.

Dory & Sunshine- thank you for asking after me. Well yes I am definitely feeling much better now, I finally had my first antibiotic free day yesterday I managed to kick the pain killers after about 2 1/2 weeks which leaves me down to just the blood thinners for another 2 1/2 weeks and then I will be back to just my vitamins. My scar has finally closed and is healing well.

    I can't believe that it's almost 4 weeks since X was born.

Sunshine - poor DS!!! Hope he gets better quickly.

Hot - ahhh you poor girl.... I have been wondering what my nipple pain might be and I think you've reminded me of an option... might go and look it up. It's pretty painful from memory. Hope the tongue tie snip helps with feeding and settling. Sounds like you're doing wonderfully, it's always about going forward and then feeling like you've gone backwards. Keep strong.

Bubba - great to hear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Onwards and upwards.

Better go, I am being summoned, thankfully only by one!

Hi ladies, I've read back over the thread while DD is having a snooze and thought I'd try to sneak a post in.

So glad to read that most babies and mums are home, it must be so great to be in your own environment. We are day 6 in hospital.

It's also comforting to read that it's not just me having a struggle ATM, not that I'd wish struggles on any of you but it's nice to know I'm not alone.

Our problem is BFing, we are both struggling and becoming hysterical when it doesn't work...which is conveniently between 11pm and 5am each night. I'm averaging about 2 hours sleep a day. We are still in hospital and I'm desperate to get home but the feeding is hanging over my head. Every time I talk about it with the midwives I cry but today when DD wakes up I'm heading down to talk to one of the middies who is also a lactation consultant so I'm hoping that she can help. We're topping up on formula right now and I feel SO guilty...but then I also feel a bit like a drug pusher as I gave her extra formula this morning so she would sleep longer and I could have a long cry in the shower.

Sorry to be all about me yet again, I do love reading about you all and your new darlings. I can't believe we have them on the outside.

For the list: Alice Ann joined us in person on 27/06.

Geeky i'm on my iphone so cant see where you're from, but I can highly recommend an IBCLC. They'll come to you and are the gold standard in lactation care - they have rigorous training and experience. Sadly midwives only get very limited lactation training. There is also the ABA free helpline you could call anytime for emotional or physical help.

Lots of skin to skin is important at the start too, helps with breastfeeding and bonding.

Geeky - do not feel guilty. I found feeding really hard, and X didn't latch right either which made it even worse. Just do what you can, there is no shame if you have to top up with formula. Glad to hear you are seeing the LC today, I hope they help, and as much as home is good, stay as long as you need in hossy, I found having the on hand advice invaluable - well that and I could sleep in a bed was nice too (those bars to pull yourself out of bed rock LOL)

I agree with Kelly (BellyBelly) and BubbaT. Please don't feel guilty about topping up with formula but don't give up hope with BFing. L has been a night owl and during the first few days he was awake most of the night.. My poor boobs! He's slowly adjusting to day/night but I'm still nursing 2-3 times a night.

Keep at it! The first 6 weeks are the hardest when BFing but I promise you it does get better!!

    Huge hugs!

    Hello everyone!

I've been reading but struggling to post, only time I get is when I'm feeding and it's been a wonder week this week so she is fussy on the breast!

Can't recall who exactly said what so I'll see how I go.

Geeky: I know how you feel. Bfing has been my biggest struggle, I've just had to stick at it, despite many teary episodes. What is the main issue you have? Is it her attachment? Sore nipples? Not enough/too much milk? Keep asking while youre in hospital. Every time you need to feed buzz for a nurse to check you. I did this and still had issues, but at least I know I got as much information and help as possible its a struggle, but if you talk to so many mums you will find they all go through it..we just don't get told that before lol.

BubbaT: glad to hear you are on the mend. You're a super mum

Lulu: how is your attachment going? Improving?

    Black rose: getting more sleep?

    Ebn_d, dory, sunshine: hi!

Naomi: welcome and nice to hear your family is complete.

AFM: finally completed my second dose of antibiotics for the mastitis. Started ultrasound therapy for the blocked ducts and it's worked wonders! Saw my ob and he recommended bepanthen for the hideously cracked nipples and it has honestly helped so much! They are actually healing now! Hopefully soon I can get rid of the shields and move past this massive post natal blip!

Miss C is having a wonder week at the moment so she is very fussy feeding and wants to be held. She's so cute though that I don't mind just wish I could have a cry free shower lol. The other night she wanted awake time at 2am so I had practically no sleep. DH ended up taking her and settling her in another room so I could sleep. It's like I either have a great night or a super shocking night.

Still producing HEAPS of milk so I am scared I'll end up with mastitis for a third time. I must be super producer sigh. Do any of you experienced mums remember when you go to a single breast per feed instead of two?

Well I better go and actually eat something for myself. Now she is sleep feeding!
    X
