Not going to get into a debate or anything but being a mother of 4 and the eldest being 18 years old things have changed over the years and recomendations come and go and the way i see it, it is a guide for parents and when it comes down to it i know my children and what is best for them i have 3 very healthy teenage boys with NO allergies NO weight problems NO skin problems NO diegestion problems and all are doing very well and to be totally truthfull ALL 3 were on solids at 3 months ALL 3 DID NOT sleep on their backs like recomended and ALL 3 had pillows before the age of 12 months and did not suffocate in their sleep and none of them were BF for longer then a week and they are all perfectly healthy so i must have done something right i have and will always follow my instincts and what i feel is right for my children as i expect all other mothers do.
And as Tams said her midwife told her to start solids my doctor told me to start solids to help ella's reflux.
And i also feel it does not make them grow up to quick it's farex god sake not a t-bone they still have their bottles and are babies it's just a little rice cereal to help fussy hungry babies or in my case reflux.
My children survived all the changes in recomendations over the last 18 years of formula vs Breastfeeding tummy vs back sleeping solids at an early age vs waiting until older.
It is hard enough being a mum with all the pros and cons and do's and dont's without being judged and ridiculed by others for doing what they believe is the right choice for them.
Oh! and my sister and i were brought up on carnation milk and vitamin drops when we were babies and we are both fine but that was another recomendation back then.
There thats my 2 bobs worth and i dont have one regret at my way of parenting.
