LilsJula short of tying Scout down and gagging the little bugger, I too am drawing a blank on the noisy toddler waking the sleeping baby.
Its sooooooooooo frustrating isnt it? Peppar is in my room which is off the main living area so I am thinking about moving her down the other end of the house when he is home.
We have also just picked up another day for him at daycare so she will at least get three days now of a decent sleep during the day.
It is a bit hit and miss with her sleeps though because somedays she will sleep like she is in a coma and other days a fart will wake her

Wow Shell rolling thats awesome. Peppar hates her tummy which is so strange as all of my boys were full on tummy sleepers and loved it but she just likes to be sitting up, preferably in front of the tv She also loves standing.

Her sleeping is still pretty good on the whole but the last few nights she has been waking a little earlier than what she had been. But I can handle waking at 4.30am having a quick feed then back to sleep till 8.30. At least I get to have my shower in peace and get the boys off in the morning.

My other cherubs have just got home from school so I had best go supervise or they will empty the fridge and still look for more

Stace ,Hannah loves watching TV as well lol. i put her in the bouncer and she watches tv instead of all the awesome lights and things her bouncer does

she lays on the lounge and watches tv oh well it must be pretty facinating for them
Have you tried putting a pillow underneath Peppar while she is on her tummy? i have a breastfeeding pillow which i lay down on her mat and prop her arms on she loves laying like that and lifts her head up and just loves it . any pillow would work i think prop more so a harder pillow

Just a quick reply while bubs is sleeping (just got a call from DH, he's coming home early so I have to get off my butt and do some cleaning instead of my 30 minute dash at 4pm...ha-ha!! DARN!!!)

Robert's doing really well in his own room. I declined to comment until we had had 5 nights in a row. He's happy to sleep in there and will even go down for a sleep during the day. The room is nice and sunny, so I just wrap him up and pop him in bed for his daytime sleeps and then he goes to sleep - I don't have to rock him to sleep (woohoo!!). Obviously he's got to be ready for a sleep though. At night we've gotten into a routine. DH gives him his bath about 630 then I give him a feed. DH wraps him and pops him into bed. Between 930 & 1030 when I go to bed I give bubs a dream feed (which I will probably drop, but not yet besides the fact that I think he needs the top-up I also love my nighttime cuddles - a warm sleepy baby is heaven) then he wakes between 2 and 3 (although this morning it was 330) then he's down for the count until 6. All in all we're all pretty happy with how it works out. DH has said that he's heard him around 4ish in the morning but he settles himself back to sleep pretty quickly.

Cass - Wow! Robert is being such a good boy - brilliant self settling in his own room...lucky you!!! Hope he keeps it up for you!!

Shell - Will try the pillow trick!

Stacey - Glad someone else has the toddler/sleep issue....let me know if anything works - Toddler is starting to get the idea of keeping quieter...I don't want him to be silent not just start screaming right in the middle of her sleep!!

Soph has been better the last couple of nights - a 8-9ishpm feed, then around 3am!! She is still waking around 5isham so just taking her to bed with me (not wanting a feed but just not settling).

Her day sleeps are hit and miss. Sometimes happily sleeps in cot or rocker but others I just give in and hold her (like just before)!! No self settling lately though!! Don't know where that disappeared to !!

She seems to be having four day sleeps a day 9, 11.30, 2, 4.30 and feeding every two hours with some 1 hour cluster feeding from 5-8ish at night. In total she sleeps around 15 hours out of 24hrs but is a definite catnapper - sleeping 40-60mins for her day sleeps!! She has around 9 or ten feeds in 24 hours.

    What are you bubs doing??

LJ I let Robert dictate the daytime feeds. If he wants to feed every 2 hours I just go with it. With his day sleeping I just watch for the tired signs. Some days it's a morning nap, then a lunchtime sleep (2hrs or longer) then an afternoon nap. Other days we have just two really long sleeps then on other days it can also be down for an hour up for an hour. I've even had days when he just wakes for a feed. I just keep an eye on him to make sure we don't hit a meltdown. I've gotten some good pointers from my baby books like Babybliss, but I figure he's my baby and I know him best. My theory is that if the night sleeps are working I'm happy.

Hi, we have been having a bit of a hard week here. Lennox is still as happy as ever but he has developed a flat head. I just don't know when it happened and how I didn't manage to notice.
I feel like I could kick myself for not paying enough attention. So now I have started to carry him around a lot more and sleep him on his side with a pillow behind him to stop the back of his head always being flat on the bed.
He doesn't move his head to sleep on the side it is always just straight back.
With DS1 I never even thought about moving his head around as he was pretty much always being carried as he had bad colic. With Lennox he is such a great baby that I don't really need to pick him up so much as he is so happy n chilled out. I felt like I was doing so great but then all of a sudden it hit me how lost I have been.
So from now I am going to pay more attention to my babies instead of cleaning every 2 minutes and packing up toys when DS1 hasn't even finished playing with them.
I just have to learn that cleaning can wait!
Also I have just been a bit down in the dumps. Not sure why, I just have realised I haven't been out or even seen my friends for such a long time.
I just need to get out and do something for, not sure what but anything would be nice.

Sorry, I feel so much better that I have gotten that out.

Gee I will have to have a look for the book babybliss. Lennox sleeps pretty good but from 3am he is in our bed and waking every hour till 7am. He has great day sleeps. Slept for 3 hour stints today. May be because I have been making him have tummy time a lot.

Shell I have tried tummy time with Lennox using a pillow. He still just hates it. I can get 30 seconds without him starting to scream and as he doesn't cry much I find it so hard.

My big man has been a bit crazy lately too. He has been waking up 3 times a night and coming into our room and trying to get into bed with us. Then my DH takes him back to his bed kicking and screaming, but he always comes back! It's taking it's toll on my sanity.

Best go to bed now before the big boy wakes up and drags me to his bed with him.

Deedles - I feel for you and understand somewhat. I have the 3 month blues at the minute too....so hard to get out to do basic things, isolation from friends, and two kids that won't let me sleep!! GRRRR - I concur - it would be just nice to get out and do something???!!!! Sounds weird, doesn't it, but I get you!! I just keep telling myself it will get easier soon...Give yourself a break re the flat head - Lennox will be fine!! You are doing all the right things...Oh and Soph does the wake, unsettled thing from 3am too - generally I just end up taking her to bed with me...oh and we have toddler in queen bed - so inevitably DH ends up in sleeping with him as he is on a waking streak too since Soph was born..

Cass - I so agree with you re following the baby's lead...I just notice though that Soph is generally developing a pattern....She definitely needs to sleep every 90-120mins - but my son was like your Robert and could go for hours and hours when he was young....and if they are sleeping well at night then it must be working for them...My DS slept through (right through) from 8 weeks - dear old Soph not so kind to me...Oh well!! At least she never cries!!!

Deedles & LJ- I hear you on this 3 month blues, I wonder if it is actual condition. I have kinda avoided posting in the last week or so because I am feeling blue and don't know what to write. Deedles don't beat yourself up too much. I can't say that I have ever noticed any one who has a "flat head". I don't know why they make us worry so much about it.

Another reason I haven't wanted to post, and it is a stupid reason, but Tobi is now sleeping really well and I feel a bit guilty sharing it. About 2 or 3 weekends ago it was like some flicked a switch and suddenly he started self settling and sleeping really well. He has 5 or 6 bottles a day and is awake for 1 hour, then I give him cuddle for a couple mins and put him in bed and he will sleep any where from 2 or 3 hours. In the last couple of days he has gone 12 hours overnight. So we look like we have won that battle.

We went to the children's hospital about 10 days ago and they had a look down his throat with a camera and confirmed he has a floppy larynx, which he will grow out of. We have some antacid for his reflux, but he is still spewing pretty badly, especially today and yesterday. It sucks having a spewy baby in winter, so hard to keep up with washing.

Don't get me wrong I am so grateful for Tobi and for what we have, not sure why this dark cloud is hanging around. Well that's not entirely true, we have ongoing issues with my DH job, he works for a friend which make things more difficult, so that is getting me down a bit.

Hope you are all having a great weekend.

Deedles, Robert was doing the same sort of thing that Lennox is doing now - he would do great up until about 3ish then I would be up every hour resettling him or feeding him. I don't know when it happened but suddenly he gets that early morning feed and then goes back down until 5.30 - 6 and this morning he didn't wake again until 7.

Is there a 3 month blues?? Is it fairly common? That may explain some things......

QB - Congrats on Tobi sleeping well...that's brill news....was there a trick???? Sorry to heat you have been feeling blue 2....it's perplexing isn't it because you luv your bubs in an unimagineable way but you feel so sad....Keep your head up!

Cass - I just made up the term 3 mth blues to describe how I have been feeling but seems like it is common with us...we should research. I know this is the time my PND started with DS ....3-5 mths was shocking for me last time. Do you think there was anything that flicked the switch 4 Robert and his sleeping???

    Shell - that sux!

Soph's sleeping is still shocking!!!! I am severely hampered by my toddler - as if Soph cries at night he wakes crying 2! So I rush to her...so think it is making matters worse...and her farting wakes her!!!! Not quite sure what 2 do...guve it a few more weeks then maybe need a new plan...

Was my bday 2day..DH had sickie and we went 2 lunch...and had my family here on Sunday...was gr8 to have adult company and my mother, sister and SIL to put Soph 2 sleep etc...they all live 90min away in Brissie - so I never get help (we live near DH's fam). So had lovely weekend and feel happier!!

LJ, don't know what happened with Robert's sleeping. He just did it one night and that was it. Plus with the day sleeps, I just put him into his cot one day when he was showing the tired signs and he just self-settled himself and went to sleep. I wasn't expecting anything and to be honest I only put him in his bed because I wanted to get the washing out of the machine and he was grizzling and I had to put him down somewhere. Then, I tried it again for another sleep and it's been working ever since. His late afternoon sleeps though still seem to be in his bouncer. I think he likes just chilling out with me in the arvo.

You should research the blues thing. It's nothing I can put my finger on but I'm just not the same.

QB- that is awesome news, Tobi must be very happy and content! It is still a bit hard though at times. I find I can get out of bed all happy and ready to start the day then I crash and burn by lunchtime and wish that I could just sneak off and have a sleep.
Does Tobi find it upsetting having reflux at all or does it not seem to bother him? Great that his throat will get better by itself. How long did they say it would take to sort itself?
You will get through it and so will we all. It isn't easy being a mummy!

Cass is Robert waking in the night at all? What time does he go to bed for the night? Did the babybliss book help you work out things? Lenny is pretty good, only waking at 3am and then 4.30-5ish. Then he comes into our bed as I just want to have snuggles.

Shell- I don't want mine back ever or until we want another one.

LJ- I hope you had a lovely birthday!
I understand about the Toddlers and baby troubles. ATM Calin is waking up more than Lennox and it's really annoying. 2 yr olds are meant to sleep in their own bed... Or I wish they would lol :-)
Where abouts in Northern NSW do you live, on the coast?
I am from around Byron and my parents still live there. Love it there and only just over 90mins to get there too.

I have been starting to get headaches and sore eyes lately. I really think it is just that I am not drinking enough water though, but I am still a bit worried.
Have been doing PT lately though on Sat and Mon night doing boxing...SO much fun and loving it!
Lenny is crying for daddy so best go save him!

Deedles, yes Robert still wakes but only the once during the night - somewhere between 2 & 330. Last night it went like this: Bed at 8pm; Wake up & feed 2am; Wake up & breakfast 6.45am.

The babybliss book did help in that it gave me some good ideas for resettling and how long he should be awake for. I found it helpful in that I didn't feel so alone and I did get some good tips. What didn't help was trying to create this perfect baby who would slot into one of the routines.

Robert has sorted out his own routine and I've more or less fallen into it. In the morning he's up for about an hour then he goes back to bed for 45 minutes to an hour. Then it's up again for 1 - 1.5 hrs then he has a long sleep around the middle of the day. Then he has a bigger awake time and another catnap. In the afternoon's he likes to have a sleep at around 430ish and can sleep for up to 2 hours. So his actual bedtime is creeping back to a later hour. DH and I were talking about it last night and it's working for us and we figure that eventually he'll drop his late afternoon sleep and then bring his bedtime back to the earlier time.

Deedles - I live at Banora Point - great spot - less than ten minutes to the beach at tugun, coolongatta or fingal and 15mins to kingscliffe.

Cass - Last night Soph was great and did a night pretty much like you described of Robert's. She fell asleep at 6-8.15, had a feed and back in bed by 9.15. Then she woke at 2.15 back in bed by 3.15. She was at 5 something and I just took her in bed with me (she was farting up a storm!!!) and she made it through to just before 7 when my toddler woke us all!!!!

    Bree - I hate that!!!!

Yesterday Soph stayed up for more like 2 - 2.5hours between sleeps and slept really well in the day - maybe she just wasn't tired enough....see what happens today.

Soph has had a mix of nights - she seems to have a night where she wakes twice (before midnight and early morning) and then just the 2-3 wakeup and feed. Can't see any pattern to it at all - so who knows.

She seems to have just had a developmental leap (the week after she turned 3 months) - as she is doing so much more. Perhaps that explained the shocking run of sleeping - as I remember my son always slept terribly for a week or so during a developmental leap...another thing I am going to have to research...I used to know when the leaps were and now I have forgotten...trying to remember which website was great for all that stuff...anyone have a great site they use for information..

Quick recap of the post I lost:

Over the last week we had one night of one feed only (at 4am) which was a 6hr sleep. I thought wow! Then, since then its been bad, often 4 or more feeds at night (although they are mostly early morning approaching dawn i think)... maybe as LJ said a developmental curve? Hoping he goes back to his usual 2 feeds or night (or less) soon, as this new thing is messing with me.

Generally though, aside from erratic day sleeps I still have a very happy, giggly man who is alot of fun to play with . He screams alot with joy now too, and loves standing up on my knees (past few weeks).
As im sitting here typing with him sitting on my knee, he is trying to touch the keyboard as I type - very inquisitive!

I have just started trying to get Ciaran to have his day naps in his cot (he normally sleeps in the car, sling, in bouncer or wherever I am), since he hasnt used his cot once (I love the co-sleeping!). But, when in put him in it, he is waking up. Now granted he isnt a very good day sleeper (hasnt ever been) but does sleep for an hour when we are in the car or sling. Otherwise though, he only cat naps during the day... So im struggling with leaving him in the cot when he wakes up - dont want him to lay there and play but associate it only with sleep. Any suggestions for me on how to make this transition? Im not ready to sleep apart from him at night yet, but though I could start with the day naps and build up from there.

Did have personals in my first post, but am time poor today so will try and come back to say hi!
