    so tired ...

bubba is also not fond of being put down a lot of the time, and has been feeding a *lot* extra over the past 5 days. He's had a crazy huge growth spurt - and he was already quite big! he's the same size as a friend's 3 month old ... will be interesting to get him weighed on Wednesday, at out 4 week appointment!

his sleeping is all over the shop ... on Friday night, DH and I got about 90 minutes sleep ALL UP, but then on Saturday night, bubba slept for 7 hours straight, and then fed, and had another 2 hour sleep ... !

but unfortunately, DS is sick ... he was croupy on Friday night, then developed a bit of a raspy voice on Saturday, then developed a little cough yesterday, and today has a fever and an absurdly snotty nose ... so we have the Dr coming out tonight to check him out ... am keeping him apart from bubba, as obviously we don't want bubba getting sick ...

I also however have a bit of a sore throat so I'm hoping that I'm not getting it ... !

I am doing really well on the expressing front though, if I do say so myself - I have over 6 litres of milk laid away in the freezer!! yay!!

I'm going back to work in about 4 weeks ... very mixed feelings about that ...

to answer your Q Rosey, my infection is happily gone, and the itching is gone too. I still have a weird hard patch, but it's getting smaller. I'm still up and down emotionally, but will be resuming counselling soon, now that I can drive. processing things is because I had a very traumatic birth for DS, which is why I had to have a c-section this time, and which has lead to me getting extremely anxious being in hospitals and doing things related to birth, etc ... it's been a long a hard road, but I'm getting better a little at a time, and God willing, I will completely recover some day both physically and emotionally. So the c-section was planned, but was not my preference and the whole process has been upsetting.

I'm sorry to hear that Peanutter & I hope that you can get back on the road to recovery soon. It must have been very hard to face all those emotions again, although I'm sure they never actually go away. That's awesome about your infection. I hope your DS feels better & the sickness doesn't pass around the rest of the family. Hope you all get some good sleep to tonight

Hi ladies! I'm joining you all in here too!!!

My little man was born on 12/3/12 after a long hard road of TTC which included surgery, IVF and a m/c.

I was induced at 7am and Connor didn't make an appearance until 2338 via c-sect. His heart rate had started dipping after the really intense contractions, and while my Ob wasn't too concerned, I didn't want to risk putting Connor under any major duress. He was 3680g born and weighed in at 4210g last Wednesday... Little chunker!

Bf'ing is going pretty well, but it's been a tough couple of weeks. My milk didn't come in until the Friday (he was born Monday night) so we did a bit of comp feeding to get us through, but I can't remember the last time he had any formula.

Sleep is pretty good too - at the moment! He has a 4-5 hour stretch in the early evening, say from about 6pm which means I've been going to bed about 7pm most nights. He'll wake around 10.30-11ish for an hour or so to feed and is then up again about an hour later for more boob. After that I can get another 2-3 hours sleep before he stirs again. Sleeps during the day are hit and miss - sometimes there will be a couple of 2-3 hour naps, but it's usually just sleeping in my arms - which I don't hate at all!

I'm under no misapprehension that it probably will change at the drop of a hat... But am very much enjoying the way things are at the moment!

Razz, welcome and a huge congratulations on the arrival of Oliver! As I recall we were briefly Clomid buddies lovely to see you here. How are you doing today?

Skye, how's A - did she give you any more sleep last night? How cool to get that smile! Clever monkey. Has the thrush eased at all? How about your big girls, are they feeling any better?

nickers, did Ryker let you have some rest last night? Boobies ok, or still pretty raw? Hope your boys are feeling better soon, it must be chaos for you guys. I hear you on the nasties, I didn't truly understand the concept of poosplosions until Willow came along. Seriously, they're like rockets and always happen while she's feeding (usually after I've just changed her).

sararose, sounds like Helena is thriving beautifully. I agree, it is going quickly, they seem to change so much even in a day. Hope your DD2 is feeling even better today.

Elocin, hey lady! Frustrating that your milk was tardy coming in - but wow, what a feeling right? I can remember my mum telling me it felt like waking up with rocks on her chest and boy, do I appreciate that analogy now! Great stuff that Connor is sleeping so well, he must be very content hanging out with his mama. Is your DH back from his trip away?

me-lisa, have been thinking of you and Alicia, what a difficult time for the family. It's good though that the doctors found out what's going on so she can be treated. I hope she has a speedy recovery so she can be back at home with you soon. Lots of love and strength to you hon.

zilly, how's little Sam doing? Is Keira still watching over her?

AFM: well, I can't believe Willow is over a week old already. It's crazy. We don't really have a routine, am BF on demand so sometimes it's every hour, but more often it's a three-hour stretch. Lately having to wake her as my boobs get so sore! A buddy is sending me her electric pump so I can express between feeds, which will be great as DH is keen to help if needed/be a back-up. Attachment is ok, I'd say 2 out of 3 times I get it right so the soreness isn't as bad as last week. Willow gets so cranky if I don't get her there quickly, she's started doing this fake cranky cough, same as when we're changing her which she absolutely hates (she goes from 0 to 100 in 5 seconds). Sleeping well in stretches, but like other bubbas she's a bit of a night owl. I'm still on the couch though have graduated her off my chest the entire night to propped up in the bouncer and am actually sleeping myself. Man, what a difference even an extra hour can make to how you cope. Trying bassinette for day sleeps today and will see how that goes. I really miss being in the bed with DH but this routine is working for now and I want him to have a good night sleep so he can help out during the day. Hmmmmmmm, what else. Took her to the supermarket in the Ergo carrier yesterday, she fell asleep instantly and didn't make a peep. Haven't heard from MCHN yet so will call this week; 6-wk paed check-up booked for first week of May. Think that's it, sorry for essay!

How cute is the cranky cough sound when theyre hungry! addison does it to, makes me laugh, little piglet!
you're doing a fab job buffy! i think its really important to let babies pick their own routine, we've done it with all ours and its served well, obviously with addison we have to get her into the school routine, but other than that its up to her

Is anyone else having troubles with putting their babes down for day sleeps?

DD hardly sleeps during the day unless I'm holding her.. Then she will snooze for periods. If I put her down she cracks it. I am worried she isn't getting enough sleep.

    Morning All

Elocin nice to see you in here, sounds like Connor is growing well!

Skye is it almost school holidays for your big girl? Bet you cant wait for the slower start to the morning! My DD's holidays start Friday yay!

Buffy yay for some sleep, good luck with the bassinett sleeps today. I didnt bother too much with routines with my girls when they were so small they eventually found their own routine and it worked out well. I do however try not to stimulate them too much at night, no lights and I dont talk to Helena just make soft noises.

well we had another rotten night thanks to hiccups again. Poor Helena gets them about 45 minutes after she finishes feeding, she wakes up miserable ( I think she ahs some reflux when she gets them). Then it takes about 15 minutes to settle and by then she is ready to feed again. Im trying to take some extra time burping her and I always keep her upright for at least 20 minutes after a feed. Hopefully as she grows it will settle down poor bubba. Given Ive had very little sleep over the last few days Im having a pyjama day today . Im so glad Ive got my ipad so I can read one handed during the night feeds, Ive almost finished the Hunger Games which I only started 2 days ago!

Connor does the cough / pretend cry thing too... It's hilarious!

We had real tears yesterday while I was changing him... I burst into tears when I saw them! Emotional much?

Buffy, you are doing fabulously!!! I'm with Skye - there's no point trying to enforce any kind of routine because it usually lasts an hour!!

My DH is desperate to help out as well, but I'm too scared to pump too much just yet because I get so full and engorged as it is. I hand express a bit but haven't cracked out the electric pump just yet.

DH is home from his work trip... Man, what a long couple of nights. One of my darling besties came over on Wed and brought lunch and cooked me dinner which was awesome.

Skye, how is Miss A going? Have your other DD'd adapted ok?

SaraRose, Connor gets really frustrated when he gets the hiccups too. Poor babes. Usually feeding him is the only thing that stops them... Usually. Sorry to hear you had such a rough night

give the pump a go if you want to elocin, at this early stage your supply is hormone drivin, not supply and demand so it wont have any over supply effects itms?
A is great her witching hour is pretty tame compaired to my others and she's honestly the most chilled out baby. She makes me so so happy.
I was letting addison crack it till she cried for about a week to try and clear her gunky tear duct, was so hard!

The novelty of a new baby has thankfully worn off and the girls arent all over her anymore. DD2 always says, i carry for you, when im holding her. ummm no muffet not yet!!
DD2 is still struggling with the whole, you'll have to wait a minute till ive finshed feeding the baby, but she's getting there.....slwoly!
Cant believe she's 5 whole weeks old today!

He he, I can just imagine all our babies in a room trying to out-crank each other!

Thanks for your support, you're so right about the routine thing.

sararose, hiccups suck - poor little Helena, hopefully the extra burping/upright time will start to do the trick. PJ day sounds fab. How are you liking the Hunger Games? I'm so late to the party on that one, though we did see the movie a couple of weeks ago which I enjoyed.

Elocin, you're not alone with the crying. Both DH and I teared up for Willow's first bath, and he went all white and stressed when he couldn't get the pram straps right! The worst moment though was in hospital when the paed checked her hips, she went beserk and it looked so painful - I was an absolute mess. Wait til immunisation time, we'll need post-traumatic stress counselling! Must be nice to have your DH back, I bet you were exhausted and really missing him. Lovely that your buddy came over to hang out, it's so reassuring just to have someone else there i reckon.

Skye, I can't believe Addison is five weeks old either. Man, that's gone quick! Cute that DD2 wants to carry her but yeah...maybe soon!

Looks like a pretty social week for us - lunch with SIL today, newborn photo session tomorrow and lunch with another buddy on Thursday. Having another crack at the pram, which we still haven't used because we're hopeless; but Skye, I thought of you yesterday when I was practicing with Willow's golliwog doll. She's almost exactly the same size. I think we're good to go, LOL.

Have you used the Hug-a-bub yet Buffy? I've used it twice at the shops and Connor has slept the entire time! I tried the Ergo + Infant Insert, but think I'm too short in the torso because it wasn't comfy and he howled the whole 2 minutes I had it on. I think that will be one for DH and I'll use the Ergo when Connor is bigger.

It's so distressing when they get upset! Good luck with the pram honey!

Not yet, I need more practice with the Hug-a-bub before I try it (what else is new!). I was surprised the Ergo and insert worked so well, I was expecting her to hate it. My long torsoed, short-leggedness finally works for me!

    Thanks Skye

Buffy, that's awesome the Ergo worked so well! I'm still unsure I've got the HAB tight enough as after an hour or so it feels a little loose, he loves it so I'll keep using it. Last time we were out I had him in it but DH pushed the pram just in case he started to fuss.

Carriers are brilliant! I love ours
The stretchyness is common in the HAB nic, because of the material its made of, which is why i opted for the close carrier, when it loosens you just pull down on the tails and it tightens back up instead of having to having to re tye it like the HAB
