    Hi ladies,

Our third baby, Arlia Feyt, was born on March 26th at 3.15am after a very quick 1 hour 45 minute labour, and three pushes. All stages of the birth were completely natural and I delivered her myself which was amazing. She weighed 3.655kg, was 49cm long and had a head circumference of 36cm.

We spent one night in hospital so that the paediatrician could come and give Arlia a check up the next day and he confirmed that she's absolutely perfect.

It was lovely coming home to my other two babies and they absolutely adore their new baby sister. They want to kiss her all the time and it's so cute!

Breastfeeding is going fantastic once again. I must admit that I am super lucky in the breastfeeding department. I've always had a good supply and no feeding issues and certainly feel for others who have issues with breastfeeding. I remind myself to never take it for granted. I'm now triandem feeding as both my 2yr11mth old and my 14 month old are still breastfeeding as well. My son loves all the new milk there and tells me it "tastes like marshmallows", lol, and my daughter gets a little upset when I put Arlia to the breast instead of her, so there's been some tandem feeding at the same time to avoid little tanties, hehe.

Arlia had a weight check today (1w1d old) and is up 85g from her birth weight. She's a fantastic sleeper like her sister (not like her brother was, lol). She tends to cluster feed while she is awake, then sleep for long blocks (up to 5 hours at a time). She's feeding maybe twice overnight, but I'm not keeping tabs. She's able to feed with me laying on my side so I tend to sleep while she's feeding and just slide her back into her cot (which is like a side-car on my side of the bed) once I wake up and notice she's done and back asleep. Her last feed during the early hours of the morning generally ends with me keeping her next to me for snuggles ♥

While she's doing perfecly, unfortunately my pelvic instability hasactually worsened over the last 4-5 days. To the point that yesterday I had trouble standing and walking. I spoke to my Ob's midwife and she basically said that it could be 4-6 weeks before my hormones settle and Icna get back to normal activity, and that ideally I would be on bed rest. She used the word "ideally" as she knows Ihave two other kids so it's certainly not a reality to be able to be on bed rest. So whenever possible she said to sit instead of stand, and to lay down instead of sit when able. She mentioned if it gets worse I may need crutches, but that would be totally impossible with three kids!

My Mum came over yesterday and has taken my son for his first sleep over at Grandma and Grandpa's house. I was so nervous, and I miss him terribly. As they were driving out of the driveway I was smiling and waving at him with tears pouring down my face. I didn't want him to know I was upset though, so I just kept on smiling. Mum sent me an sms as soon as they got to her place, and kept me updated through the night. He's been an absolute angel and is having a ball. He only got upset about the bed and refused to go into the bed. He insisted on being on the couch, which is funny because he's never slept on a couch before. He fell asleep there and then they transferred him to the bed and he slept peacefully through the night and woke at 7.30 this morning. They are going to the local swimming pool today which has a huge kids play area.

I hope you are all doing well and enjoying your little bundles!

Oooh, you girls talking about the hug-a-bub reminds me that I have to look for mine again. I remember it being on the top of the couch ages ago and that I put it away somewhere, but I can't seem to remember where that place is, lol. We went out to the shops last Friday and I wanted to use it but couldn't find it, so I used the Ergo with the newborn insert. It worked ok, but Ifind the hug-a-bub a million times better. It seems to hold them so much closer and keeps their head right against my chest. I found that the Ergo was much better after about 6 months of age and have had a few friends say the same thing.

Elocin - Does your hub-a-bub have the pocket at the front? I find that when the wrap starts to feel a little loose, I pull the little draw string on the pocket and tie it closed and it just makes that section of the hub-a-bub that holds the baby just a bit tighter and more comfy.

Buffy - Enjoy your photo session. I've had two done with Arlia. We had the one done by the same photography that has done my three maternity shoots and two other newborn shoots. And then the lovely Raven from this forum came over on Sunday to do some photos as well. She was aftersome more newborns to get some more experience on and try some new techniques, so Miss Arlia was volunteered hehe. Oh andshe was such an angel for both shoots. Ican't believe how long she slept and how patient she was with all the posing and moving her around! I hope Willow is a perfect little model for you too

Skye - Happy 5 weeks to Addison! I really love watching bub's reach new milestones and grow, but gee I realllllllly wish I could work out how to stop the clock and keep them little for longer!!!

Sararose - I hope Connors hiccups calm down soon. I read that apparently hiccups down worry babies like they do adults, but I think that's bull. It certainly bothers Arlia as well and the best way to stop her getting upset with them is to pop her on the breast.

Razzberry - Arlia is a good sleeper as well. I don't worry too much about waking her to feed though. She feeds really well when she's awake and she's putting on weight so I just let her do her own thing, hehe. I do tend to wake her around 9.30pm if she is still sleeping though so she can have a nice awake period before we go to bed.

Nickers - I hope your MW appointment goes well today. It's always interesting to see what they weigh isn't it? I hope your big boys are feeling better, poor little mites.

Zilly - I hope Sam is doing well. I had to giggle when I pictured you putting herin the car all wrapped up hehe

just a reminder to your peelciv floor excersizes ladies! (if u dont have stitches that is!)
    thanks or the reminder mum

Ive been doing mine non stop as I have got issues (thanks to DD1) which are a bit worse this time. No leaking though! Should have done more when pregnant though!

Ive used my mei tai and it was okay but I know it will be easier when she is about 2 months. DD2 was in it a lot, it was great to have free hands with a toddler and when shopping. DD2 would always fall asleep within five minutes of being strapped in. It would be nice to have a HAB for the first two weeks. Well my little love had a sleepy day after her busy night and is wide awake now. FX for a better night. I did get my arvo nap so Im feeling more human

Mylitta hope the pain improves for you, is your DH having some time at home with you? Sounds like your DS was having a ball with the grandparents. MY girls are hanging out tfor the school holidays to have a sleep over with Nanny and Pop

Mylitta, your photo sessions sound great. Nice to have it done by the same person as with your pregnancy and other littlies.

Skybie, thanks for the reminder about pelvic floor exercises! I'm doing them right now Excellent that the bleeding has stopped for you, maternity pads suck. I haven't tried Moo Goo products though I know they get great reviews - we're using Gaia on Willow at the moment and I have it the shower too, love the smell.

sararose, did you get more sleep last night?

    Elocin, how's ol' shifty eyes?

Hi Razz and zilly, hope you're both well.

AFM: had a fairly decent night's sleep, DH found a great white noise app and Willow and got a couple of solid blocks snoozing to 'heavy rain'. He's insisting I sleep back in our bed tonight though and that we try the bassinette again, I'm really missing being in with him and have to get my head around the fact that Willow will be just fine in there. I've had teary meltdowns most afternoons this week, almost always at the same time - am fine during the day but as soon as the sun goes down I feel really weepy and tired am thinking it's just baby blues with all the hormones etc - and if my overflowing bosoms are proof, well, there it is. MCHN nurses are way behind so won't have a home visit until next week, so my list of questions continues!

Had our newborn photo session today, Willow did very well until towards the end when she'd clearly had enough of being jiggled around and absolutely cracked it. She left her mark by weeing on the photog's hand and pooping on one of her cream wraps She's currently napping in the bouncer but I'm expecting a bit of an unsettled night tonight.

Buffy that pic that was put up of willow is just stunning hun, cant wait to see more! im still waiting on centerlink to come through with funds so i can buy mine!
glad you got to spend the night with DH.
The weepies suck, mix of hormones and sleep deprivation!
My mchn were good this time, but with DD2 i had to chase them up, was pathetic.

AFM, miss A was so cute last night, she woke about 2am,, so i bought her into bed, whipped out a boob and offered it to her but she was already back to sleep with a smile on her face. Cheeky beggar just wanted mummy snuggles! snd she stayed asleep till about 7 when the big girls woke up!!! was fabulous but my goodness i thought my boobs were going to explode when i got up!! Youchies!
She pooped about 4 times yesterday so im wondering if that was what helped the good nights sleep, normally she needs help just doing one a day

Aw, that's so cute! She just wanted mummy's arms Wow, what a fantastic sleep! I know what you mean about sore boobies, mine feel that way when I start hitting the three-hour mark. Thanks re: the pic, it's amazing how different she looks in every photo. I can't wait to see the rest, but like you am nervous about what will happen to my credit card

Well, we finally slept back in the adult room last night and oh my goodness. It worked!! We wedged up the mattress in the bassinette so she was on an incline, tucked her in like a mummy and she slept well. Got up twice at 1:30 and 4:30 and then we all slept in until almost 8:30. The white noise app is brilliant. And I got to cuddle DH, hooray!

Heading into the city to meet a friend today while DH does a little clothes shopping, he's in desperate need of winter stuff before the freezing Canberra weather sets in. Was going to take the pram but Willow seems happier in the Ergo so we'll give it a second outing. Might try feeding in it if she doesn't freak out.

Morning to the other ladies, hope you're well...

    Hi All,
sorry i havent had a chance to get on, i spent most of yesterday in tears and was an emotional wreck.
ds1 has bronchitis and ds2 tonsilitis which i think has now turned into brochitis (dh taking him back to the doctor this afternoon)
so its been challenging to say the very least. mchn visit on tuesday got me down because Ryker lost weight again making his total weight loss since birth 500grams. She advised to feed every 3hrs even if that means waking him, bf, then offer ebm and express.... all good and well but a lot harder in reality... my nipples still very sore (to the point he was drawing blood) so i decided to just express and give him the ebm so i could also see how much he was getting. with all the stress i feel my supply has also dropped off. Im getting between 50-70ml per express but he has been having about 70mil ebm each feed, so the little stash i started acumulating is almost gone.....
the thought of getting out of the house, having to express whilst out, how to heat up an ebm bottle whilst out has been all overwhelming...
i just cant let go of the fact i want to bf but i said i wouldnt do this to myself again (ds2 refused the breast and i fought for 6wks every feed putting him on the breast, having lots of tears from both of us and in the end i expressed for 4months)
Mylitta- i made a comment to one of the MW in hospital for anyone who thinks breast feeding is easy should walk in my shoes for a week. i wish so very much it come naturally and i blame my body for being the way it is and making it so dam hard. and now i have started giving him the bottle its making attempting bf even harder, he just gets cranky when it doesnt come out right away.
Anyway to end on a better note i took him to the clinic this morning to get weighed again and he beefed on 200grams in 2 days!! so he now weighs 3.51kg (bw 3.8kg) then we went into the shops so i could hand in the medicare crap, we went to the parents room, dh gave him the ebm whilst i expressed more, then we went to ds1 school for his easter hat parade (he has been off school all week and went thismorning and we brought him home after the parade. and ds2 didnt go to preschool today so we had him with us also) so the mw today suggested when im at home to just try him at the breast first before offering him the ebm, i did that when we got home and after tryng both sides for 10min he was hysterical..
anyway i put him in the hugabub for the first time and he loved it!! i havent used it for 4yrs but did alright for first go exept i think i need to do it a bit tighter and was getting loose after a while.
it was good to get out of the house and some fresh air.
sorry this post is all about me again

nickers Im sorry you're having such a rough time with your big boys being ill and your worries about your little mans weight. Sounds like you are doing everything you can though hun I had to wake dd1 for feeds for the first few weeks. My best friend has had to express and bf and then comp feed and I dont know how you do it, its a lot of work. I hope you're getting lots of help at home

buffy how was your outing. Have you managed to feed in Willow in the ergo? Im hoping I can master it in my close carrier thats on its way Yay for a good nights sleep, its amazing how less overwhelming everything is with a few hours sleep under your belt

skye yay for the end of bleeding. I cant wait, only a tiny bit now but I had it for four weeks with both girls then got AF at about 3 months with both girls and I was exclusively bf too! although they were sleeping through by then but I felt ripped off!! How cute Miss A just waiting mummy cuddles Only pooping four times a day, I think Helena can manage that overnight!

Well Helena has been sleeping better yay! Only one episode of hiccups last night and she settled without a feed! She fed at 10.30, 1.30, 4 am came into bed with me then slept until 7.30! Still waiting for our photos to be online hopefully wont be too long. I also have had a bit o an online shopping splurge and have ordered two grobags and a second hand close carrier. I cant wait for the close carrier to come so I can try it out.

We had DD1's end of school sausage sizzle/family picnic today and it was lovely. DH helped man the bbq and I helped serve. The girls had a ball, got easter eggs and enjoyed playing with all the other kids. Helena fed twice while we were there then slept like an angel in her pram. Im glad we are sending the girls there it has a lovely community feel and only 60 students! Heaps of the students had to come and check out the tiny baby, it was very cute. Helena shined in allt he attention lol

Well only a few more daays then DH is back at work DH had to go to the shops this arvo so I sent him a text with which nappies I wanted him to get, and he came home with the wrong brand! He thinks they are all the same. I said he gets to change Helena everytime she has a poosplosion out the side of the cheap nappies!

It will be interesting to see how we cope with school holidays with the three of them. An hour after school finished and we already ahd one arguement that ended with DD2 biting DD1 on the nose! Hopefully they have learnt that is not on!

hope all the mums and bubs are keeping well

me-lisa thinking of you hope Alicia is better

Sara- lol i sent dh up the shops to get nappies too, knowing nothing is open tomorrow then long w/e etc he came home with the woolie brand......but told me there was NO huggies newborns....so we'll see how they go. (i only originally got 1 box of newborn size then stocked up on infant size (4-8kg) cause i didnt know what size bub would be, but he is too little for any other size.

i agree with the pooing, Ryker pretty much poos every nappy change, and often does more whilst i am changing him, and wee's all over the place too!
im glad you got a good nights sleep sara, your right definatley a lot less emotional when i have had a couple of good blocks of sleep.
i havent had any tears today, think i cried them all out yesterday. ived tried the last few feeds to bf Ryker which he has a few sucks but keeps going on and off and then getting cranky & upset so then i get the ebm... i will continue to try this whilst at home and not needing to do anything or go anywhere and see how we go. i just finished feeding him his ebm and he was still looking for more so i popped him on the boob... well he didnt really want any more and aftera few sucks was content and settled. i guess thats good too my boobs can still comfort him.
ok off to bed now before the next feed time comes around!

Just a quick question girls - My BB's alwas feel soft, with DD they always felt full and hard until after I fed her and then they would slowly fill up again till the next feed. With DS they always feel the same and soft - Is this normal for a second bubs? He is almost back to his birth weight so is obviously getting some milk!

nickers, have been thinking about you hon and meant to reply yesterday . So sorry things are difficult at the moment, with the boys still unwell and little Ryker's feeding. It's no wonder you feel overwhelmed. Please don't blame yourself, you're doing everything humanly possible to nurture your little man. It's great to hear he's put weight back on, I hope it brings you a little relief. And I know it's easier said than done, but you need to get some rest sweetie as you're running on empty. I'm glad the fresh air helped, it's so good to get your hands free and get some sun - can make a huge difference to your well-being. How did you sleep last night? Anyway, apologies I can't offer more advice on the BF issue as it's still all really new to me (and I have no idea what I'm doing!) but I can offer lots of support and hugs. You're doing a fabulous job supermum!

sararose, the outing was good thanks - Willow slept in the Ergo the entire time. I think I might have to under-dress her a bit though, she was very warm when I took her out and my chest was all sweaty! Excellent to hear Helena is sleeping better so her mama can too, that's wonderful. Good luck with school holiday time.

me-lisa, have been keeping an eye on your FB page for Alicia updates. Hope she's making a quick recovery so you can take her home for cuddles.

Razz, I'm not sure sorry dude - maybe you just lucked out?? If he's back to his birth weight he must be getting the good stuff! Hopefully one of the more experienced mums (or an MCHN?) will have more comprehensive advice to offer.

    Howdy to the other ladies.

AFM: my milk must have changed again, Willow was unsettled on and off yesterday and seemed really uncomfortable trying to burp and poop. She was pulling off the breast a lot so I sat her up in between and am keeping her upright for at least 15 minutes afterwards. She also sleeps in the bassinette with a wedge insert. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't. I wish there was more I could do. Does anyone have any tips for getting that wind out? Any other positions I could try holding her in? Doing lots of rocking, patting, swinging etc. She's also feeding a lot more, I guess that helps her work it out as well...?

Having a chilled out day at home, had more visitor requests but keen to lay low. Hope everyone has a great Easter. We need a bunny icon!

when she pulls off is it after your let down? addison still does it, it comes outt oo fast for her and she cant keep up and ends up swollowing alot of air, meaning wind pains!
you can pop her right over your shoulder, like belly on the point of your shoulder to burp her, lye her on her belly across your legs and burp her, and if none of that works lift her knees to her belly or move her legs like shes riding a bike.
if all else fails, a nice warm bath can help with wind tooo

Hi girls, I'm on my phone so persies won't be great

Nic, so sorry to hear you've had a hard couple of days... Big, big hugs lady I hope the big boys are feeling better and feeding the littlest man is getting easier. Look after yourself x

SaraRose, glad to hear Miss Helena slept better! I hope you've managed to get some sleep too.

Skye, how good that you've stopped bleeding already! Fingers crossed that AF doesn't show up anytime soon.

Razz, I'm with Buffy - I've got no freaking idea sorry hun! I hope someone can help!

Buffster, awesome that Willow slept in the Ergo. Connor does too... It's awesome!

Oh the wind pain is horrible isn't it? We do everything that Skye has listed... He seems to settle better on DH then he does on me. Mumma = milk bar and not settling, so daddy is the man when the pain settles in. We also bought some Infant's Friend and give him a couple of drops when he gets upset and seems to take the edge off.

I am the same at night too hun... I said to DH that when the sun goes down, it seems to take my defenses with it. Self-doubt sucks...

We had our first big car trip on Wed - which was pretty much a success. Connor slept for about 3.5 of the 5 hour trip after a massive feed so that was awesome. We had to stop in roadworks which he HATED and screamed the whole time... Which means I was in tears and DH was getting frustrated and upset too.

Connor had his first trip to the beach this morning... Which entailed him sleeping in the Ergo on my cleavage

I am trying to figure out how to make him feed longer during the night. He usually sleeps from about 7ish until midnight. But is then awake for an hour, asleep for an hour, awake for an hour etc. For that hour that he's awake though, he normally only feeds for about 15-20 minutes. So I know he's not getting the hind milk, which is why he's not sleeping for longer. Any tips on how I can keep him awake / interested in the boob?

Happy Easter ladies and babies x
