Babies Born ~ March 2012 #2

we dress Sammy in a singlet, a onesie, then a flannel wrap and when she goes to bed usually two blankets. she wakes up toasty most mornings although her hands are a little cold as I haven't been covering them. I got told a good way to determine if they are too cold/hot is to feel the back of their neck or chest and that will tell you. (although she squirms everytime with the back of the neck... so found a ticklish spot). And she also has a sheepskin on her mattress so she doesn't get any cold air from the mattress its-self

After not getting much sleep halfway through the week, she is now sleeping during the night. And I have been co-sleeping with her for the last couple of nights, which usually ends up with me waking up laughing my head off cause I am getting chased in bed by these little hands, and hearing suck suck suck... she hasn't latched on but is drinking the let down that is occurring. This has been keeping her even more toasty. Although we start all the nights in her bassinet.

Nicknames we call her squeaker as she makes lots of squeaks over night, and squeaks at the end of her cries(on the inhale breath)

lct if you think the fussing is due to a slow let down try putting bubs on their back (either with your legs crossed and bubs lying on them, or lying on the bed) and dangle your boob over them... admittedly it works better with bigger breasted women... easier on the back :-). If you think you have a fast flow, then have them lying across your tummy while you lie on your back will help with it.

during her last week she pretty much fed non stop, nut is mostly back to her 3-5 hour stretches. although when she gets too tired she doesn't know when to stop, and ended up doing a massive chuck.

Wow Elocin, that is a pretty good buy, aren't they usually about $70? Thanks for asking for tips about night-attire – I think we might have been under-dressing Yves after hearing what everyone else is using, so have put an extra layer on him last few nights. Maybe it worked, as we had a 4 hour sleep from 2-6, and then a gorgeous co-sleep-in from 7.30-10.30!

Sararose - Swing arrived yesterday, had a couple of tries with it, got about 50ml each time, not too bad for about 10 mins work. Sooo much better than manual, and not too noisy either. I haven't been to Ikea since Yves was born... could be dangerous... do they have great kids stuff?

Nicknames here - Dr Yves-il, Muppet, Little love, or sometimes just what we called him in the womb, 'dude'. Like when he has done a mega-poo, its just 'oh, duuuuuuuude!'

Nickers - Hehe bout infomercials. What I get sick of is the constant ads for funeral plans that are on during the day. Sometimes we have our afternoon feed in front of the tv (watching Ellen!), and the ads make me depressed! I hear you with the bf issues - its hard enough that it hurts, but when bubs also seem really distressed it just sucks all round. Having said that, Yves has improved the past few feeds so I will keep trying, but plan on expressing a bit of a back-up stock in case he needs it.

Zilly - thanks for the bf tips, I have had some success with the big-boob flop-over technique! Poor Yves, feel like I am absolutely smothering him, and of course DF gets jealous. At 4am, its a ridiculous scene, but whatever works!!! You and Sam seem to be really rocking it together, good to hear!

Skye - baking looked awesome, could have slammed a plate of whoopie pies while watching Game of Thrones last night. Note to self, buy some for next week!

Peanutter - Thank goodness you don't have glandular! How are you feeling now though? Quick question - do you find that EBM production goes down when you are unwell? I have a bit of a cold, wondering if this generally affects things at all?

Miss E – how is Coop’s reflux? When do you see the osteo again? Yves has been throwing up a lot more than usual lately too, hope it is just a phase.

Buffy – your weekend away sounds fantastic. We were thinking about going to Daylesford this weekend (Mothers day treat!). How much stuff did you need to pack for bub?! When you pack for Yves, basically pack everything! When we went away at Easter, I basically took all of his clothes... Just in case. Don't forget socks and mittens too!

We are usually getting at least one a day, sometimes two... I hope that's ok?!

Nicknames here include: Connor ba-nonna, grumble guts, baby kid, boy, chubsie, and like Yves, he gets 'duuuuuuuuude' a lot!!! DH and were saying last week that the poor kid isn't going to have a clue what his name actually is! And considering he already gets called by the cats names, I think we are just screwing with him!!!

Lct - still pretty sick, but looking at recovery in a few days rather than a few months ... phew! re milk production when sick, I haven't noticed any real difference from illness, but last time, I recall that I had a lot of supply issues re stress :(

Poos - about 2 a day, but can go a day or two without. DS1 used to poo after every feed, then suddenly go a week without pooing! they can be so different ... one a day is fine as long as they're regularly wetting and not straining.

slings - nope. just a carrier here :)

Sam poos just about every change. I was really hoping for a baby who poos once every 10 days and not the 10 poos every day, but oh well.

lct there is no problems with a poo every two days, especially if bubs is going through a growth spurt, as they use the milk so efficiently that there is no poo left over.

I haven't tried any carriers yet, I was hoping to get my SIL's hug-a-bug sling, but she sent it to my parents house at the start of my other SIL's pregnancy and now my parents can't find it.

I haven't used a sling yet, but it's on my to-buy list.

I've got an Ergo and have borrowed a Close Carrier and a hug-a-bub. I am in love with the close carrier atm whereas DH prefers the Ergo.

Ok great, sounds like the poo situation is 'normal' then. Guess we are lucky so few nasty nappies, but certainly plenty of wet ones.

Re Baba sling, I also have an ergo with the newborn insert, but am having trouble fitting it correctly. I know a few of you use them - any hints? Are you able to get them on ok by yourself? Would prefer to use it over a sling but ease of use is a consideration.

Zilly - I hope they find it for you, the HABs sound great.

Elocin, the grobag is awesome, what a steal! We still have to wrap Yves in a cotton prison like Willow, but will def look into the sleep sacks once his startle reflex goes away and he can have his arms free.

no sling here either - i use a close carrier which i love. im considering buying a beco as well which is more like an ergo.

poos - we get a couple a day - maybe 3. every couple of days is fine, you might find it's even longer as they grow up. ds used to go a week sometimes - which is great for 6 days but messy on the 7th!!

we use grobags - ds went into one at 10 weeks & dd is already in one. mostly because im the world's worst swaddler!

skye - those whoopie pies looked so good! i would kill (well, maybe not kill just go to great lengths!) for one right now

poos- the longest H has gone is 5 days but some days she can produce 4+

slings- sorry never mastered the sling, tried a ring sling but I was too unco. Love my close carried and baby hawk though :)

LCT, I've only worn the Ergo a couple of times. I find it quite fiddly and C doesn't seem to love it when I wear it. I think because DH is taller and longer in the torso, it seems to work better.

I have worn it around the house with great success, but it took me a good 10 minutes to get it on properly and for C to stop squirming and relax.

I'm hoping once the infant insert is gone, it will work better for me.

We use a minimonkey sling here, 90% of the time DD falls asleep in it. Also gives me a free hand. Although I do get a sore back if I carry for over an hour & a half. I'm thinking of getting a baby bjorn.... Hopefully that will be better on the ol back.

Poo's are frequent here. I'd say 5-8 a day. They come out with some fart ferocity, put a man to shame.

I purchased a grow bag before DD was born but haven't used it yet due to the startle reflex aswell.

HELP ME PLEASE!!! Having sleep dramas here (as I'm sure we all are) and I don't know how to help her, I'm new and don't know what I'm doing wrong. During the day I CANNOT get her to sleep out of my arms. I will walk, rock, massage, hold her for an hour past the point where she goes limp, her breathing is easy and she doesn't make a sound or movement I lay her down and keep my hand on her tummy or make sure she is wrapped but within 5-10 mins she is fully awake & I have to start all over again. She will sleep happily in our arms or on our chest for at least an hour, usually more though. The only time she lays down on her own is when we put her down for the night, she will then usually do a 4-5hour stint of sleep (which is awesome) then wakes around 2/3am and often doesn't go back to sleep untill 5/6am ish and that is in my arms. She seems to have a lot of wind at this time of the morning and let's a couple of forceful poo's out. Could it be wind or reflux that stops her from laying down on her own? People I speak to like my family say 'why don't you try her on formula', which isn't helpful to me as I want to breast feed and I don't think that's the answer at all!

Sorry for the me post I just really need some advise as I'm starting to feel pretty exhausted.

On a good note - DD has found her hand (yes only her right one) - she often goes cross eyed while moving her hand and fingers slowly around. She loves staring at patterns, a moving ceiling fan, shadows. Oh oh and starting to baby talk, just a tiny bit - so freakin cute. Lots more smiles now too! How is everyone's bubba's going, have you noticed any changes and developments?

rosey - if you're looking at a carrier like the babt.bjorn can i suggedt checking out a carrier like an ergo or beco. im quite new to baby wearing but there's some interesting info around on how the bb doesnt support babies as well as dome other carriers (something to do with how their legs dangle).

as for sleep - my ds was the same & i only managed to get him to nap consistently off me when he was about 5-6 months. he would sometimes sleep in the pram if we went for a walk & sometimes in a bassinet but mostly on me. i tried to fight it but then decided to go with the flow & read books, catch up on tv shows etc. it does get easier imo when they start having more regular naps & they're more happy to play on the floor etc. - then you're not chained to the couch as much! and nothing to do with bfing - all to do with wanting to be close to mum. some ppl call the first 3 months the 4th tri as baby gets used to life on the outside.

Rosey, C is exactly the same during the day! He will stay asleep when I put him down at night, but during the day... No chance.

I've pretty much resigned myself to the old 'if at first you don't succeed, try, try again'. I try putting him in the bassinet or just down on the couch... Sometimes he stays asleep for 5 minutes, sometimes 45 minutes. But his best, deepest sleep is on me.

I don't know what to do either x

Phew....good to hear other bubs are clingy aswell. Thanks so much for reassuring me. I do love my snuggles but would like just a little bit of me time. I'm such a stress head.... I am trying to just go with it lol

lct, awesome sleeps for Dr Yves-il. Fab that BF has been improving too, I think we all have good days and bad days with it. RE: packing, take everything! I had a little suitcase for W's stuff, tons of onesies, wraps, spew rags, carriers and heaps of nappies. We borrowed my SIL's clip-in pram bassinette and sat it on the suitcase next to our bed, which she seemed to love, as we now use it for all her sleeps at home too. Took blankets, linen and a few other things that smelt like me/home, to help her feel comfy. Hope you have a wonderful weekend, I'd love to visit Daylesford. RE: poop, usually 1-2 a day but sometimes up to 4 a day. This morning I got 4 in 1 (definitely a number 3, ew!). RE: carrier, I use both an Ergo (with insert) and a Hug-a-Bub. I find the Ergo more structured and secure, and W seems to settle quicker in it as she's jammed up nice and tight. It also seems to block vision and sound a bit better. It's good for longer trips and walks. I like the Hug-a-Bub at home and for shorter trips, I find it a bit fiddly to get on when we're out. It is much easier to take with you though as you can shove it in the nappy bag.

Sloane, another crap swaddler here. Thank goodness for velcro! Hope your little one is doing well.

Rosey, sorry the sleep has gone downhill hon. Day sleeps are frustrating here too. If she does well in the sling, would you consider using that for those sleeps as well? I know you need some hands-free time but that might be a good interim solution...? Otherwise you could try putting something of yours in her bed so can smell you; and you could warm up her blankets before you put her down...? Just ideas, I have a naughty day sleeper too so I'm not much help. How exciting about your DD's changes - gosh they grow fast. W is smiling loads more, even when we pick her up from a nap (previously very crabby) and is getting quite vocal. She's also starting to get good head control, especially during tummy time with Dad.

AFM: last night as per usual, good 3-4 hour sleeps from 5:00pm - 3:00am and then up every 1.5-2 hours. Does anyone have any tips on how I can push those long sleeps later so she goes longer overnight? Should I be waking her more frequently in the late arvo and evening, or just go with it for now? I'm getting on average about five hours (broken) sleep, which isn't too bad, but gosh I'd love to see those big blocks happen overnight. I know they will one day, perhaps I just need to go with the flow :rolleyes:. Otherwise our gorgeous girl is well. We hit up Costco with my SIL today for the first time and I had to restrain myself from buying Hersheys everything. Had to keep interrupting W's sleeps (car, carrier) so she only had short ones and was a total crank by the time we got home, poor poppet. She's catching up now though. A quiet day planned for tomorrow, then six-week check and shots on Thursday. Not looking forward to that, I'm sure I'll blubber like a big wuss.

Hi girls! I'm having trouble keeping up :) Never seem to have time to get to the computer and hate posting from my phone. I'm laying down in bed feeding DD and hoping that she'll go to sleep for the night but we seem to have the opposite problem, she goes to bed late, between 10 and 12 and then sleeps in til around 9 waking every couple of hours for a feed.

Rosey I wouldn't recommend a baby bjorn, I had one with DD1 and it wasn't good for my back, ended up getting an Ergo and can still use it for DD1 as it goes up to 20kg. Although i think baby bjorn brought out a new carrier with a support band around the waist but i don't know anyone who's tried it. Carried her home from the shops on the weekend because she fell off her scooter, she's about 17kg I think. I didn't bother getting a double pram cause I figure between the pram and the ergo we've got both bases covered. I use my ring sling at home during the day though, Milana has her naps either in the sling or the swing. I prefer to have the weight evenly distributed when I go walking so use the ergo and she doesn't need the infant insert.

We have poos here probably 6 times a day. She poked in the shower the other day and it was so gross. Explosive poo all over me and the walls of the shower!

I'm going to they and come back for personals later, can't see anyone's posts and my memory is shocking at the moment. I am doing 1 subject for Uni this semester and have an assignment due and exam in the next 3 weeks so things are pretty busy here. I also went to a dance class last night and boxercise tonight so getting back into it. Came home to a screaming baby and frustrated DF though, even though I fed her just before I left she is still feeding fairly frequently. Will have to express before I go next time so DF can keep her happy.

Rosey, like Sloane mentioned, there are a lot of carriers that are much better than the baby bjorn. the baby bjorn basically hangs a baby from there crotch and is bad for their hips. Other carriers support them under their bottom and correctly position their legs so that it is good for their hips. I love the hugabub and all my kids have loved it as well. A close carrier is very similar to a hugabub. I also have an ergo carrier but both the kids and I find it uncomfortable until they are about 6 months old. After that I love it! You can also use it as a backpackcarrier to carry a kid on your back once they are old enough.

As for sleeping, sounds like your little miss has a great survival instinct. A human baby's instinct tells them that if they are not being held by an adult they are at risk from predators so they should cry to be picked up by a parent. Although while it's nice to know your baby's instincts are good, it would be nice if the forgot them from time to time and would happily sleep alone. My son was like your daughter and didn't like to sleep out of arms. He would never sleep more than one 45 minute sleep cycle at a time. He's just gone 3 years old and has been an awesome sleeper since he was 19 months old. We never did anything to force him and whilst it took awhile to get there,he finally turned into the great sleeper he is now all by himself :)

Buffy - hmmm sorry no advice from me... I'm totally fresh at this parenting gig. You must be really exhausted you poor thing. Its easy to tell yourself to go with the flow alot harder to follow through when your sleep deprived. Good on you for being game and hitting the shops. I attempted a grocery shop today (usually do them online), boy did that end in tears and a dash to the mummies room to feed the little poppet. Yahoo for better head control! Does Willow like tummy time? Do you do it every day? Were a bit slack with tummy time. Needles are not fun... For bub, Mum or Dad. Yep tried the sling for day sleeps and sometimes it's a hit sometimes it's a miss, she mainly prefers the sling when I'm walking/moving round the house - not resting the little bugger. I'm sure when she's older I'll wish for these days again. It really is such a small window in time.

Fuzzywuzzy - wow your DD is late to bed isn't she. Do you spend most of your night trying to settle her? He he sorry I had to laugh at the shower poo explosion. At least you were in the right spot to clean up. Uni, Exercise, Dance & a newborn, I think you deserve a bravery medal :) . How are you coping with Uni? Ok really glad I don't buy a baby bjorn- thank you. Ergo sounds the goods, especially how much weight it can go carry. What swing do you use at home if you don't mind me asking? I've thought about buying one of those aswell.

How's everyone dealing on the domestic front... Cooking, cleaning etc? I manage most of the time to get the housework done on a Sunday when DH is home, he offers to do it but I quite like to clean. Dinner usually resembles something edible most nights... I find I have to do it in stages though, usually with DD in the sling while I chop and peel veggies then later I pop her down when she is happy & awake for as long as she will tolerate while I do the hot stuff. Which often gets burnt as she cracks it half way.

Hi Mylitta.. You posted while I was typing. Thank you for the tips on the carriers. It seems I've got a bit of research to do :) . That's really cool to know, I love hearing/reading about the reasons babies present certain behaviors. They are amazing little creatures aren't they. I'm so glad your DS is a good little sleeper & did it all by himself. Must have been from all the positive reassuring you offered him when he wanted those cuddles.

rosey - it's so rough when they're not sleeping well, isn't it! and while those snuggles are just beautiful, it can also be wonderful to have some time alone with your own body, and some sleep ... first, make sure you're on top of all of their tired cues, so you can get them prepared for their sleep *before* they are too tired ... this is the first thing I'd be concentrating on ... if you're already doing that, then by all means, find out whether there is actually something specific upsetting your LO when laying down (like silent reflux, or gas) and whether there's anything you can do to help (like gripe water, or raising the head end of their cot to make a nice gentle angle, or tailoring your diet if you might be eating something which is giving them a sore tummy or painful wind) ... you can also try different things of course, like a baby rocker or glider (ours was an absolute God send with DS1, who would happily sleep it it for hours at a time with a gentle steady rock, angle, and some sweet repetitive music on ...) or hammock or whatever ... try different things, to see if any help ... try a deep warm bath followed by a massage ... try different combinations of wrapping and singing and soothing and feeding in dimply lit rooms ... try getting them more natural light during "awake" periods, without overly stimulating before nap time ... just keep trying different things until you find something that works. and ultimately, you might find that you then have lots of tools in your belt, ready and available for you to use - or you might find out that being held is the only thing that works! and then you figure out how to make that work for you ;) But you'll find little things which help along the way - like for me, changing the nappy half way through the feed helps, so they're nice and drowsy and milk drunk from the second half of the feed when it's time for cuddles and the next lie down ... etc ... just find what works for you and them, and go with that :)

As for your Q re housework, DH is a SAHD and so he does a crapload of the housework. But when I'm home without him, after DS2's first feed, he normally goes down for at least an hour and DS1 will play reasonably happily by himself with a bit of supervision - so that's when I get all the laundry, dishes, and kitchen organised. Sometimes though, realistically, that's the only serious housework that gets done, depending on the kids. If the boys have a nice simultaneous nap, I can get 2-3 hours worth of serious housework done - the bathrooms, the general pick up, gardening, cooking up batches of hearty meals to pack away for lunches ... but if they're not sleeping at the same time, then realistically I am playing with them, teaching them, taking them outside, singing and dancing and bathing and feeding ... sometimes you can get housework done at the same time, but don't bank on it! I'm a very organised person, I'm a very clean person, but I can handle clutter ... piles of paper and books and so forth are not "mess" in my house ... they are life. But DH and I agree on what the priorities are, and between us, they get done consistently and well and often. So my view personally is have a chat, decide what the standard you're both happy with - and can maintain - is, and go from there.

I got a lot done though, and I gather I'm very missed by my team which is nice :) but I need to get back ... but first, I need to get better. yay for head control!! DS2 is still working on this one - total opposite of DS1 who had neck control literally from birth!! result seems to be that DS2 is not very fond of tummy time, though ... DH and I need to persist more on that front ... with pushing the sleeps back later, have you tried getting her up for some skin-on-skin and cluster feeds a bit later? just a thought ... may or may not work for you! And ah, Costco ... I remember being there with a very young DS1 and he was having a bit of a booby day! Thank goodness for strategically placed display furniture ... I'm sure that's what it's there for, breastfeeding mothers, yes? ;)

fuzzy - hello there, girl!! DS2 is closer to yours - feeding around 10-12pm and meaning that we're in bed late, too ... I think I need to start just going to bed whenever he does ... it might be the only way I get some sleep! Good on you for keeping up with your uni, Ms Superwoman!! And the gym!! Make sure *you* don't get Glandular, though ... please don't overdo it :hug: And expressing is awesome. Get it into you, if you can ;) I've only just got back to the gym and exercise etc (I walked 2.5km today though, outside, which was totally lovely) but I don't see myself getting back into uni for a while ... I finished one course before DS1, and I can continue it to get another degree which would be really good, but it's Just. So. Time. Consuming.

Well my theory on Addison having longer more regualr naps has worked, she's having more happy awake time and gracing us with the most beautiful big smiles!!! i was starting to worry as she didnt really smile much, except in her sleep!
Does anyone elses bub love having their hands clapped together?

Rosey- there are some great advise and ideas been given already, tough trying to work out which one is going to work for you but anythings worth trying isnt it. trying to get bub settled before she gets too tired cause once they get over tired its so much harder to calm them down. on average a bub between 6wks-3months will have 1- 1 1/2hrs awake time so if you can start getting her ready to have a snooze before that time it might help? looking at things like awning, more jerky movements with her arms and legs etc.

buffy- i hope the trush clears quickly how horrible for you both. as for sleeping patterns, i guess ive resided to the fact that Ryker's fussy period is gonna happen no matter what and lucky that its in the early even and not middle of the night.(even thouse its still a sucky time cause its dinner/shower/bed time etc) but because of this fact he only has small cat naps and hardly sleeps between 4-8pm but then he seems to go a good block after that. he often has double feeds or a top up within the same hour for those few hours, we cant put him down often within this time.

housework- well each morning i try and get the mundaine same old stuff done before we leave the house for school drop offs, i find if i dont get them done then they dont seem to get done. i put a load of washing on the night before so i only have to hang it in the morning, do the dishwasher sometimes the night before, beds etc for bigger house work stuff just bits and pcs when ever i can. If we dont have much on the weekend i usually get more done cause either dh is home or he can take ds1 and ds2 out somewhere.
also i have been getting dinner started or cooked by lunchtime (depending on what it is) cause Ryker's fussy period is at the time dinne rprep etc usually happens none of us would eat, so either a slow cookiung put on in the morning, or cut up the meat and vegies at lunch time so half of its already done, or if like a stir fry etc cook it early then just reheat at dinner time.

i have my 6wk check up tomorrow with my ob, once i get the green light to go 'im keen to get back into exercising. I will start with my ex phys at my work, help me get those tummy muscles switched back on, then prob pilates and walking, wanna get to the gym, just dont know when i can slot that into the schedule yet!
ALso getting my chiro to see Ryker on Friday see if he can help with his reflux. ive had hiim on zantac for a week now, starting to notice some improvements, less back arching and painful cries when he is asleep or settled.

whats everyones plans for mothers day? we are having our family over here for lunch, then the males and the kids are going to the sharks V storm game (stadium only 5min from our place) cause my 7yr old nephew is playing a game at the stadium before the main game. so all the females (me,mum,mil,sister and 2 x sil) plus Ryker will have a nice relaxing arvo once they all head to the footy! (There will be 5 guys and 6 kids going, good luck to them lol)
Nixon has a mothers day stall at school today so dh has secretly given him some money etc hehe so cute!!

thrush we both used daktarin gel as nilstat doesnt work for us, but ou need to be really careful giving the gel to bubs as its thick and can be a choking risk. Sterlilise pump and dummies frequently

skye yay for bigger sleeps, have just started clapping H hands together and she seems to like it, we are getting more smiles now :)

rosey the other girls have some great suggestions re sleep, hope you get some unattatched sleep time soon. Im coping ok with housework although it isnt getting done in one day, the dryer is getting used a bit too often

We seem to have a rough night routine, bed at 9 feed at 2 then feed/awake 5.30-6. H is much more alert and cooing and snmling, very cute. Older girls were feral last night, fighting and carrying on, DH didnt get home until late as he went to donate blood but couldn't. Im hoping for a better night tonight Im finding evenings really challenging when DH isn't home

skybie - yay for improving naps and more smiles :) DS2 isn't very smiley yet, but he'll get there, I'm sure. Poor DH hasn't had a proper smile yet ... ! all in good time, I guess ... with hands, DS2 does this adorable thing sometimes in his sleep and sometimes when feeding, where he grabs his hands together - kind of looks like a supplication pose, or about to wring his hands ... the look of concentration is bliss

nickers - thanks! trying to get some rest, but how the hell are you supposed to do that, with babies and housework coming out the wazhoo, family members expecting to get fed, photos to be organised, paperwork to be dealt with, etc ... yay for getting back into physical exercise! I am technically back at the gym but haven't been in a week, because I've been sick ... but in general, I go straight after DS2's dinner feed. DS1 is in bed, DS2 is good for a couple of hours, I have time to get there, work out and come back and possibly even have a shower before DS2 needs his next feed ... and yay for improvement on the reflux front :D woot!!

thrush - with DS1, we got that daktarin gell stuff that you pop on your nipples and then let them suck off while you feed ... it cleared it up pretty fast, and it didn't spread anywhere else :) good luck!

mothers' day - we're seeing DH's family for brekky, mine for lunch. not sure what I'm getting ;)

i bought my own present last week lol, i need a new wallet and thought it would be better if i found the one i like so go that plus some slippers. whats a mother day without slippers hehe. knowing dh he will prob buy something else, just cause he cant help himself. i swear he should be the female in the fashion deptartment, i am not a fan of shopping, i never know what to get or try or so end up not getting anything usually.
Rykers sleeps at night sound the same as Helena, last feed is around 8-830pm then he sleeps until around 2is, back down then he wakes at 5am but comes in for cuddles and i push him out till 630. sometimes thats easier than other times, like this morn he woke at 430am and i was really working it to get him past 6am lol
peanutter you sound like the way i am, even when not well and know u need to rest u still need to function and do stuff, but seriously make sure u do get extra extra while your not well ok!!
ive just spent 2.5hrs tidying while Ryker had a big snooze. poor boy must love his bassinett sleeps cause during the day they are usually few and far between, like when he goes down again next it will be in the capsule cause then will have to do the school run. So ive been mostly putting kids stuff away the whole time. even though they pack away there always seems to be bits and pcs around, stuff under beds, lounges etc and omg wait for it....i did some dusting!! lol i hate the dust around but i also hate dusting :)

Our mothers day will hopefully be girls making me breakfast (they like doing this) then DH will take them to swimming. Mums for a BBQ lunch the the in laws for a takeaway dinner. DH has been asking what I want for mothers day I've trying to get him to take the girls shopping to pick something themselves, I have ask ed him for a letter H charm for my pandora bracelet from Helena :)

Helena has been wanting to be held most of today so I gave up trying to get stuff done at home and we went shopping :) I also opened her first bank account today. Tomorrow's plans include cleaning the floors boo! And making bakeded mini bailey's cheesecakes if we have a good day

OUCHHHHHHHHH - how can such tiny nails cause sooooo much pain? Man I am super grumpy after trying to feed this little terror tonight, its just such a hit and miss situation lately. I just want to cry along with him :(

and clip their nails, or pop socks over their hands before a feed ... we use socks instead of mittens, because mittens are too easy for them to shove off!!

socks seemed to stay put, and stopped my boobies from being torn to shreds by itty bitty (but oh so sharp) nails ...

Thanks guys, have changed Dr Yves-il into a sleepsuit with the pull-over mittens, and will attempt to clip his wee nails tomorrow when we are both calmer...

In the meantime I have been reading everything I can about what could possibly be causing this nipple pain... thrush, staph, vasospasm etc. I know I first need to check out our attachment to be sure its not contributing, but the pain feels like something else to me. For example, getting undressed hurts like hell, even hours after the last feed; my bra rubbing on nipples is painful, despite no bad cracks, bleeding etc; light touch causes the absolute worst pain; and my nipples being cold also hurts a lot - a lot of this sounds like vasospasm?

Yves' fussiness is a separate issue I think, but because I am so sore and tense it is excruciating to have to keep reattaching him when he is kicking and scratching and punching at my boobs. I wont give up on BF, but my goodness I am dreading each feed.

Buffy - what are your thrush symptoms? I certainly hope you aren't having this sort of pain hun :hug:
