Sleepy - Phoebe doesnt even have her food whizzed anymore lol! She loves yoghurt and will eat cheese mixed into her food. Hope that your packing is going well and isn't too stressful :)
With the formula the problem is she won't take it or the bottle. I think she has just decided that she is a booby baby...
Marni - have you tried a sipper cup with formula? it might give you a bit of a break.
Food - I am just about to add meat to Zens diet. he now has lamb & veg and tuna & veg made up. I whizz them still but give him other stuff that may not be as broken up. He loves to chew on broccoli florets :)
Sleep - I really need to get his routine in order as it makes for a much happier baby! We have started his proper night time routine of cuddles and reading a book then kisses then into bed. He screamed last night so his daddy gave him 5 min of cuddles and he went to sleep. its a start!

Marni - I hear you on the sleep, I'm going a little stir crazy at the moment. I've been toying with the formula before bed feed to see if it makes a difference to the new joy of her waking 2-3 times a night for a feed but think hers is more for comfort than hunger and I've tried the dummy again but she won't have anything to do with it. She's another booby girl and I don't see her giving it up anytime soon.
Sleepy - how is the packing going? I've started A on cows milk, she has 1/2 to 3/4 kiddie weetbix for brekkie or I mix cheese into her food and she loves yoghurt too. She loves fruit and I have to disguise veggies mixed with a load of apple lol. I make most of her food but for some reason she prefers Rafferty's :( I've tasted mine and it's seems so much better lol
Tina - Good luck with the sleep routine, I really need to get a day one sorted coz when she sleeps during the day it makes for a more relaxed mummy. We've had a night one for a while which is generally the three B's - bath, boobs then bed but I need to start reading to her a bit more so want to start reading a story before bed
too.
Not much has changed here................unfortunately, she is over her cold in the most part but sleep or lack of it is driving me slowly insane and want to know how to break her habit of comfort waking - any ideas??
DH's birthday is boxing day and I like to buy a more special pressie for that than xmas and he's a pain to buy for but have decided I'm going to get him a keyring made up with A's thumbprint and her name, DOB and a message on it, thinking I might sneak in a pendant for myself :)

Phoenix - i have had Zen on formula when we were away & i had a few drinks - for me, they did not help his sleep, it didnt make him any fuller so good luck if you try it :)
i bought an amber teething bracelet...fingers crossed :)
Tina - yeh not sure it will make a difference since she has her dinner, bath then boob feed then bed so should be pretty full up.....oh well she had two mammoth sleeps (for her anyway) today hoping it helps things tonight
Hope your amber works, A has a necklace and I'm too scared to take it off, she's been sick and still been a happy little vegemite so not sure if has helped or not.
I found it takes a few weeks to establish a routine with formula. We finally have one now E is completely off the boob now. Looking forward to a peaceful and relaxing weekend. We have Kyle's grade 7 graduation dinner Thursday night, John's Christmas work party Friday night and our night away on Saturday night. Have babysitters all 3 nights lol. But we are only away overnight on the Saturday night. So we'll see how we go. John is usually the stress head when it comes to someone babysitting. Lol
The packing is going ok, but there's so much to do :(

Hi all, lots of news from everyone, sorry if I haven't caught up.
Well, B is officially crawling! He started last Wednesday and has been practising ever since, getting into lots of stuff and knocking his head on anything in his way (door frames and toilets especially!). Then, over the weekend he decided crawling wasn't enough and started trying to pull himself upright on the furniture - he's been pulling himself up on DH and I for a little while - and mastered that yesterday! So now he crawls to where he wants to go, then pulls himself up to standing, then waves his arms around triumphantly, then usually falls over, lol! :D:shakehead:
We have decided we'll have to get a play pen for him as it worries me too much what he'll hit his head on next and things like having a shower now are really difficult as he manages to find all the things he shouldn't so I have to keep chasing him!
He's eating well still, except when we go out - he rarely eats much then. He had mango on the weekend and loved it.
Night waking - we're still up between 1 and 3 times a night but have also been getting what I can only describe as night terrors. He's still asleep, screaming and takes a while to calm, then often ends up shaking for a while afterwards. Scary.
Night routine - we do bath, boobs, sometimes a book, then bed. Sometimes he's way too tired for a book, but I know I should do it every night.
Sick of the weather here - our daily walks have been abandoned due to the rain and we both miss them.
Gotta run, B is awake.
crawling - wow...our little bubs are getting so advanced! Zen is trying to crawl and gets quite frustrated as he knows what he wants to do but cant seem to do it yet, he has just (this morning) started to get up on his knees so it wont be long now.
Weather - I love all the rain, the down side is DH doesnt/cant work in the rain which means no money :(
Routine - night two of Zens bedtime routine and it seems to be working a treat! We have him into bed about 7.15pm. he wakes about 9.30pm for a feed, more of a dreamfeed really, then he stirs about 12.30am so I go and put his dummy in then he wakes for a feed about 2.30am then around 5am he wakes and still needs slepp but it is light so he wont go back down...I've put myself into a bad spot there cause instead of staying up or whatever with him I put him in bed with me...oh well, Zen and mummy cuddle time it is lol
Eating - Zen is on 3 meals a day, weetbix breakky, veg lunch and fruit dinner. His poop is just a tiny bit firm for my liking so 30ml prune juice here you come!! rofl...thatll keep things moving
Sleepy - hope youget all the packing/cleaning done in plenty of time...I certainly dont envy you!

AFM - we have my DH 40th bday party this weekend...and its supposed to storm!its a beach theme, well, it might be changed to 'tropical cyclone' theme if the weather keeps up :)
Tina - GL with DH's party, hope the weather holds. And well done with the night time routine, woo hoo! :dance: The MCHN said weetbix is one of the worst for constipation/firm poos and to add LOTS of water/BM/formula. She also mentioned banana and rice cereal as doing the same so said make sure the banana is really ripe. She said pear is good for remedying so you could try that and to also offer water with every solid meal. HTH
I took the plunge and bought some MCN's a few days ago, just waiting for fluff mail now! Hopefully they'll be here by Christmas....
Morning everyone.......very wet one down here, Adelaide had pretty wild weather yesterday and mum's backyard & her family room flooded. I walked out of our room (converted shed) into ankle deep water.
Tina - Good luck with the party on the weekend, hope it dries up for you guys. YAY on the night routine falling into place, hoping Mr Z keeps it all happening for you.
Weetbix - we have opposite when A has them from brekkie, guaranteed poo within about half hour and generally 2-3 that day lol. Rice cereal tends to block her up, she refuses prune juice so I stewed up a pear & prune mixture which she loved and that works a treat :D
Fluffy Mail - I have some coming too, can't wait I got some very pretty ones from a Melbourne mum which will be perfect for summer, as A will be able to to just wear a singlet and one of her pretty nappies :). I want to track down a reuseable swim nappy but she's too small for all of them at the moment, they all start at 8kgs so it's the huggies ones for now.
Sleep - what is that!! Last night was a shocker with 3 wake ups between 11.30 and 2.30, I put on her teething gel before bed (it's from childrens hospital and can only put on every 4 hours) and at 2.30 dosed her up on panadol & more teething gel and she then slept till 6.30 thing is I can't see anything on her gums so figure they might be on the move........not really sure. At least her day sleeps have improved greatly and she has two sleep of about 1.5 hours each which saves my sanity and allows me a nanna nap if I need.
Xmas - ahhh it always brings out the best in families doesn't it, we are going over to Vic (yes again, this will be 3rd time since June) mainly as DH nan's isn't well and he's managed to be not working and she probably doesn't have too many left. He's since found out his nan isn't even going to be at the family xmas she is going to her other daughters, who the family doesn't really talk to (long story) just to keep her happy. So DH has the sh*ts since he had told his nan when we were there a few weeks ago she was reason we were making the effort to come over again......oh well, DH is now saying he'll see if he can be bothered when he gets home from work but doesn't want to upset his mum.
I better get showered and do a bit of a tidy up, have managed to get A down for a nap and want to make the most of it before I have to head out to shops.

Phoenix - Ahh, the joys of family at Christmas! We've had issues too (I vented in another thread a while ago!), only with the in-laws though - why is it that our own families are way less nutty than the ones we marry into?? (And my family is pretty nutty, rofl!!)

Swim nappies - I bought some Huggies while I was on the lookout for reusable ones too and told MIL I wanted a reusable one for B for Xmas so she's gone out and bought another pack of Huggies :wall: Ah well! B isn't 8kg yet either, but I figure they only hold in poos so unless it's way too huge it shouldn't escape, should it?? I saw some in Target a few weeks ago for $25, the small size was about 6kg from memory...
Sleep - Nothing's changed, though the night 'terrors'/really upset wake ups seem to have settled. We get one or two nights every week or so when he doesn't wake at all between 7:15pm and 4:15am, then back to 1-3 wake ups. I have stopped settling him with a dummy or pats, just an invisible hand giving blankie back and it works just as well :D.
Fluffy mail - I am hoping that B will just wear a singlet or shirt with his too as they are just soooo cute! Are you in MCN's full time?
Play pen - We bought one off eBay yesterday. Has anyone else got one?
BF/formula - B is having 5 bf's a day, roughly every 4 hours, and showing no sign of wanting to give any up!
Teeth - Any new ones in our group? No sign of any more here, thank goodness! 2 is plenty for now!

Jleigh - At least this lot of inlaws isn't as nutty as my first lot and my family is crazy too, I actually apologised to my DH for them when we first got together but he told me to wait until I met his lol
Tina - how did the party go?
Swim nappies - there is a SAHM that I've bought a couple of nappies off that will be making one size swim nappies for about $20, am just waiting until she has them ready in a week or two.
MCN - I got a delivery of two gorgeous handmade ones yesterday. A is in them fulltime during the day, I still put a sposie on at night but think I could get away with a cloth one.
Playpen - think that will be one of our next big purchases once she gets mobile........she's lazy, don't think she'll be crawling any time real soon :)
Teeth - still none but think they are very close, I can see white bits on her swollen little gums. The teething gel from the children's hospital here is a godsend and must do something as when I get out the cotton bud and bottle she sits there with her mouth open waiting hahaha
Sleep - after nearly two months of 2-3 hourly wakings the past 5 days she has gone back to one wake up around 4.30 for a feed and back to sleep until 7.30......but this morning she woke up at 6 after going down at 7.30ish so hoping we are getting back into a sleeping pattern, I can cope with the 4.30 feed no dramas but 2 hourly was slowly sending me insane.
DH is home tomorrow night, can't wait. House is coming along really quickly too, hoping to be at lock up stage by next week and fingers crossed they might actually finish early and we can move in before May :)
A is doing well, definately not a baby anymore and has a real little personality. For most part she's a happy little bubba, she has started getting a little clingy at night around bed time, all she wants is her mum but during the day will go to anyone and everyone and quite happy to wave me goodbye, which I find handy with DH being away as I can leave her with mum or my SIL if I need to duck out and get stuff done.

Teeth - None here :) we are teething however, complete with a lovely dribble rash all over her chin. I just recieved my amber necklace today so hopefully that will improve things. Does everyone leave theirs on at night? I'm not sure what to do?
Crawling - She is definately on the move!! Last week it was crawling little ways and now she has figured out she can get around the house!! She also pulls herself up onto whatever she can - boxes, chairs, her cot or the lounge. She is getting quite an assortment of bruises from her new tricks of running into things and falling down!
Playpen - We wont bother, I never had one with T. I will just pop a baby gate up on Tiana's door to keep Phoebe out of there. I don't really baby proof, just teach Phoebe that she can't touch some things. Gets very repetitive in the teaching but does work. I just say No Thank you Phoebe and move her away.
talking - Is Zen the only one saying mum and dad? We still just have squeals here.
Feeding - She is bf. I tried the whole bottle thing and it just isn't going to happen. I've decided it isn't worth the stress of trying to get her to drink from it. She eats whatever though, as long as she can feed herself lol. She had satay chicken stirfry the other night and loved it! BLS by baby's decision!!
Sleep - Not worth me going there :( I'm sure things will improve with time.
Can anyone else not believe that our bubbas are nearly 8 months old?? DH and I were talkning about it the other night and it has just gone soo fast! Well better go and get some cleaning done!
Marni - the only time A has hers off is in the bath or if I forget to put it back on, she really doesn't worry about it or realise it's there to even play with it.
Talking - A says dadda not sure if it's dad or just learning sounds and boy does she squeal!!

Afternoon all. Elijah was 7 months the other day - slow down with the 8 months lol.
Swimming nappies - I got E's from Coles. After we move, we'll go swimming. He also has a full body uv suit that I got from a second hand shop.
Talking - Elijah says dadad and I thought I heard him say bubub in the bath too. He screams, squeals and grunts too lol.
Crawling - Elijah gets up on all fours, and rocks - so it won't be long now. Watch out world. He gets around pretty quickly already. It's exciting but scary lol.
I better go, he needs to go to bed and I've still got a gazillion things to pack and clean. Sorry for the short post. But I'm still around. :)
8 months - B is 7 1/2 so not quite. Don't wanna rush things, lol!
talking - B says 'dadada', 'a-mum' and lots of babbling too. Don't think the 'dadada' is daddy though, just babble (don't tell DH!)
Walking - my SIL's niece was walking at 9 months -woah! Seems they don't stop changing!
Marni - The playpen is only when I can't be there e.g if I'm having a shower. Otherwise, I'm getting very good at the "No Bosley" "Not for Bosley" repetition. ;)
MCN - Phoenix, how many do you need to be full time during the day?
Clinginess - B is unbelievably clingy with me lately. He has to be crawling on me or isn't happy. Next to, or in sight isn't good enough (unless he decides to crawl away!). The only time I can leave is if DH is around, then he's the one DS clings to!
Well, just spent almost 3 hours trying to get B to have a nap so better make the most of the time I have...
JLeigh - I hear you on the no! They know exactly what you are talking about too! Phoebe sits looks at me and grins... Witht the clinginess I've been told just to go with it. Don't try and force him away (iykwim) and he will get past it pretty quickly. They go through clingy stages every so often and seem to move on pretty quickly when they know you are there.

Is everyone elses bubbas walking along furniture?? Phoebe is pulling herself up on everything and walking along. She even pushes her music table and walks behind it! We have her a walk behind pusher/walker for christmas. I want to give it to her early, but am holding out. Thank goodness it is only another week!!

Jleigh - now that she's grown out of prefolds I now have about 20 MCN's in my stash and that gets me through with washing every 2-3 days, I think I've convinced DH I need just a few more :D
Sleepy - how is packing going? Hope the moves goes well :)
Well I finally got my butt into gear and using a gift voucher for photo's, we're having them done this arvo so I'm hoping I can get one more nap into A so she's in a good mood.

Marni - Yep, we're walking along furniture too. It's quite daunting seeing him go but I am slowly getting used to the fact that he's just gonna get bruised and battered! We've got a walker for Christmas for B too - can't wait to give it to him :)
Clinginess - Yep, I spoke to the MCHN and she said exactly the same. He's been brilliant yesterday and today, happily playing by himself if I'm in the room and even letting me duck in and out occasionally without cracking it!
Phoenix - Hope the photos went well. What kind did you do - all of you or just A?
MCN's - I'll only have 8 good ones when mine arrive, so I really will need some more (are you listening DH, hint, hint!!! :redface:)

Phoebe says mum!!! It is clear and she said it while looking at me and reaching out. Best thing was that she said it while my mum was holding her and in front of my sisters. I have other people to vouch for it!! The past couple of days it has been bubbub but yesterday was mum!! It's amazing how fast they learn in this first year. I kinda wish that she would slow down a little though!
talking: those of you on fb would have seen my video of Zen saying dad...well, I am certain it was dad :) I havent got video of him saying mum but that will come. I was told that if the first word is bub they are your last child, if mum you will have a girl next if dad you will have a boy next !
crawling/walking: nope, Zen doesnt seem to have enough interest in trying to crawl, I think he is still happy enough being able to roll to things. Although, saying that, he does get frustrated every now and then and I probably need to put him down on his belly with stuff he wants out of reach a bit more often.
Teeth: Zen has 1.5 lol, one definately through and the other visible, swollen gum, just waiting on it to break the skin. he has been terrible with it. The amber necklasce doesnt seem to have done anything :( I even put him into bed with me early hours this morn so I could get some sleep as he is awake and wimpering half the night. Thats even after panadol and teething gel.
Photos: we havent gotten any nice fammily photos done, i want to though before Zen is to much older. We got the harvey normanxmas photo done - i think they were great!
xmas: i cant wait for Zens first xmas. am hoping he figures out how to pull off all the wrapping and will be doing plenty of pics/video of it.

He just chats away so much now. lots of squeals, giggles, mums, dads, bubs and general noise. plenty of smiles which I am loving and so far so good with the sleep routine at night except when we are out...it becomes a battle of wills lol. I think he is winning so far!

We had a lovely day with family and B was on his absolute best behaviour which made him pretty popular, lol! He didn't sleep well at my parents house (blame the portacot maybe - no-one sleeps very well in a foreign bed, do they?) though. In the end, he slept with DH in bed and I 'slept' (well, laid there with my eyes closed for 2 hours) on the floor!

Tina - Poor little Zen, how is he now? We had constipation probs with Phoebe for a little while but once we stopped baby rice she was ok. I think it just takes a little while for their bodies to get used to a variety of food.
We are battling a cold here. Poor little miss woke with one on Sunday and has kept getting worse. It wouldn't be so bad but her nose isn't runny - just blocked so she is not a happy vegemite. Not sleeping much either so mummy isn't either!

Hope you all had a wonderful christmas with your family & little ones, we had a lovely time visiting DH's family in Vic.
Tina - How is Zen going with food now, A gets constipated on and off but I find giving her some fruit, pears are good for "dessert" after lunch & dinner helps the process :)
Jleigh - I'm with Marni should have kicked DH out lol but great to hear you had a lovely time and B was so well behaved.
Marni - Oh poor P, blocked noses suck!! Do you have a vapouriser? That was my lifesaver when A was all blocked up.
We have a tooth! We thought other one wasn't too far away but after nearly a week and a half, it seems to have gone back down.
Seems A has self weaned herself off feeding to sleep on her day sleeps while we were over in Vic, she only started it once we moved into mums. She still has a feed but comes off has a giggle & starts mucking around so I just put her in her cot & she's out in about 5-10 mins, sometimes just chats herself to sleep & others puts up a bit of a protest. After all this time wishing I could go back to just putting her back in her cot I kinda miss the snuggles but she sleeps so much better during the day now but I get to do get snuggles before her night sleep as she feeds to sleep for that one still :)
Phoenix - It must be an age thing. Phoebe has been feeding to sleep for the past few weeks. I am hoping she stops it on her own cause it wouldn't be much fun to try and stop. Sleepy snuggles are the best though! Yay for the tooth!!
It seems I was wrong. Phoebe doesn't have a cold - but an ear infection!!! That explains the screaming when she was lying down and only wanting to sleep in her pram propped up a bit. Poor little munchkin, hopefully she will feel better soon once antibiotics kick in.

Going by FB seems a couple of bubba's haven't been too well lately.
A had a temp sunday through to tuesday with no symptoms of anything else, I took her to the docs who feels it's a virus but wants me to get urine samples........we are at 3-0 with A winning and mummy not getting a sample, she poo'd all over one and the other two I must have put on wrong coz she wets her nappy but nothing ends up inside the little pouchy thing. I picked up 4 more yesterday and will try again today, but since her temp is now gone they said not to stress too much if I can't get one but to bring her in for a quick checkover.
My little monkey is getting close to crawling, she spins in circles on her belly and does manage to move a little bit if she wants to and can go from sitting to tummy without the face planting and the associated screaming (well on most attempts) :) And as of the past couple of days will now roll back to belly when it suits her
It's a hot one here today so gotta shoot out and get some stuff done before it gets too unbearable.

poopies - yeah, Zen is all good, I do the fruit thing. he gets a couple spoons of fruit in his weetbix, fruit at lunch and sometimes a spoon or two at dinner lol
teeth - zens 2nd tooth finallly came through...after much fighting lol
Question: does anyones bubs kind of stiffen and groan at odd times? I am wondering if its due to his teeth as it is usually around feed time. maybe from the spoon hitting his teeth/gums?
Zen has just been a nightmare the last two days or so. Two days ago I was so sick I called DH home. poor DH was ready to throw him away after he basically screamed for 3hrs non-stop! I wanted so badly to get up to him and help but I just couldnt! he eventually got him to sleep. he just seems to cry/whinge non-stop virtually. Its doing my head in! he has started skipping his midday sleep and I wonder if I need to kind of enforce it? Absolutely any ideas would be appreciated
Thanks for the well wishes for Phoebe. She seems ok now but DH said she was pulling at her ears this morning and she had a mystery fever yesterday so I will keep an eye on her - but she is still happy and alert so I am not worried.
Phoenix - How goes your house? It must be getting close now. Hope A is all better and no more virus. It is awful when they aren't well.
Tina - Can't say I have had the stiffening thing. Just the tantrum thing when she doesn't get what she wants! Typical stubborn girl :) Are you feeling better? With the midday sleep I put Phoebe down just after she has lunch. Sometimes it is a struggles but I fight her cause she does need it. However I don't have actual set nap times - just a general guideline.
However - dont take sleep help from me! We aren't doing so well here. I realised this morning that P doesn't even do a 5 hour sleep anymore! Don't really know how to change it either.
Hope everyone has a good weekend! I think we will be flooded in by this afternoon...
Marni - I was just thinking same thing.......A barely gets 4 hours sleep in one block the past couple of weeks and I'm at my wits end on how to change it. Mind you a few weeks ago she was back to 10-11hours over night. So not sure if teeth & being sick has upset the whole thing again.
Mind you I've finally sorted out day sleeps and she has two a day one at around 10 and the other around 2.30-3.00 and she now self settles and is down a minimum an hour, but overnight it's 4hours like clockwork she's worse than when she was a newborn!!
Tina - Hope your feeling better, nothing worse than being sick & trying to look after a little one let alone a grumpy one! Not sure on the stiffening either, only time we have it here is when she's having a hissy fit - god help me when she gets older and hormones kick in lol.
Got a question on feeding......A HATES my cooking and is starting to refuse anything except yoghurt, weetbix and fruit. She still BF's about 5 times a day so gather she's getting what she needs nutritionally.
phoenix - Zens stiffening ended up being caused by....weetbix! apparently the fibre contect is very high for them to process and so Zen has a sore tummy/bowel as he has weetbix every day pretty much :(

so we are going with change of diet and seeing if it fixes it.
but for A's meals, do you do some finger foods like carrot sticks, broccoli florets etc (steamed soft) which is a bit of fun for them to eat? Zen seems to like when he can eat at the same time as us and I give him the broccoli off my plate which I think makes him feel included. Just an idea. also, google baby food recipes, there are a couple of downloadable books
Wow who would have thought weetbix.......A has weetbix for brekkie every morning too :o but so far hasn't seemed to be showing any effects though she has no issues with constipation when she has them, I give her the kiddies ones
She eats Rafferty's food.....chicken, bangers & mash etc but when I make it she has about two mouthfuls and the tanty's start. I do give her bits on her own but she seems to play more than she eats and with her waking 4 hourly for feeds at night want to fill her up before bed lol
oh, I was giving Zen the weetbix we eat :O
hmmm...not sure why she is doing that with the food, frustrating! Why dont our bubs want to sleep through for us? :'(

Don't really think there is much difference apart from the size of them, DH bought them for her coz it's his favourite breakfast I personally can't stand them - she had big people vitabrits while we were in Vic and little piggy would eat a whole one of those :D Think she takes after mum & dad and has iron guts lol
Hope Z's belly is better soon the poor little guy having a sore tummy is bad enough when your a big person :(

I have heard and read that good day sleeps promote good night sleeps so that may mean a good night for you :) I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I know this may sound crazy but, does she see you get the food out of the jars? if so, put your food into the jars so at feed time she sees it is jar food?
Good morning everyone...I'm sorry I haven't been around - I don't seem to be getting alerts anymore :( I thought it was strange there was no emails......
I have skimmed thru the above posts, and I wont go back any further, but E has 1 whole weetbix every morning, but I usually put warm water on it and a dash of milk, so its not gluggy, but nice and wet. He certainly doesn't have issues with pooping.... :)
E is practically crawling - altho not on his hands and knees yet - he does a caterpillar crawl, its quite funny, but boy is he fast! And he gets so dirty - and there isn't much I can do about it either. We now have tiles and carpet, and its muggy and he sweats and gets hair and dirt under his neck and the inside of his arms poor boy - but I think he's happy he can get around now....
I went and bought some bolts for his cot the other day, to finally put it together, as he still sleeps in his portacot in our room, and the whole thing fell apart, the wood inside the base was soft and wouldn't hold the bolts. So I had to go eBaying....lucky I found a cot for $67 just up the road, so we pick that up today. It'll be nice to actually have his room set up for him - FINALLY!
We had a pretty quiet christmas and new years, I have been doing a bit of drinking....lol, and I am enjoying having my body back. I have the occasional thought of maybe having another one - as you on fb would probably already know, but that thought seems to come and go...lol
Elijah can say dadad, and it sounds like he says "hello" and "hey" sometimes....so cute, but as much as I would love it to be on purpose, I'm sure its an accident...lol
He is about to get his top teeth very soon, they are sitting right there, at tthe gum, waiting to go thru. He has been sleeping rather well for the last 2 nights - with Nurofen last night tho - waking only once for a bottle, around 4amish, then sleeping til someone wakes him or yesterday was 8.55am..but he doesn't go down til around 8pm.
Ok well, I hope you all had a great Christmas Holidays and ate and drank and went totally crazy with it all. I am just counting down til school starts now - and thats not too far away......lol

Phoenix - How is A sleeping now? Is she still only eating jar food. I have the opposite problem - Phoebe doesn't like to eat off a spoon, I can coax her into eating a little but she prefers to feed herself.

Well, as most of you know we have had an eventful time in Brisbane, we got to live on an island yesterday! My town was totally cut off from everything. It was kind of surreal but it did get a bit scary when we kept getting texts and phone calls to evacuate, yet there was nowhere that we could go! The water is down around us (hopefully to stay that way) but I just hope everywhere else makes it through ok. My husband was off work today and definately tomorrow and prob Friday, but I just want him to be safe.

Miss Phoebe is going well, I have realised that her apparent constant teething with no teeth seeming to come is because she is cross cutting. She doesn't have any yet but I can see the point of the top side ones just under the gum! My poor bubba. She is now very proficient at walking around everything and balances by leaning against chairs and calls 'mum' whenever she wants me. It is very cute but I kinda wish it was dad at 2am. While she is a gorgeous baby girl I just wish she would sleep a bit better. We are still up at least twice a night.

How is everything now Marni? I hope you guys are ok, and you are in our thoughts - you too TinaR! We have no bread and milk left in our 2 local Coles, or Woolies, but hopefully that changes soon! Otherwise we will be stocking up on flour, yeast and salt to make bread! Not sure how we will get milk....boobies are dry these days...lol
Elijah isn't walking yet, he is still mastering craw;ing, so we are still dealing with that. He is doing really well in his new room, only woke at 5am for a bottle this morning, so that was nice. He is also cutting his top 2 teeth, at once, and is grumpy during the day. But so far (fingers crossed) he seems ok at night times. Nurofen does help tho if he isn't!
As most of you already know Brisbane is suffering from the worst floods since 1974, and so far we are ok, its just the food shortage that worries us, but some of our friends are not going so well. But we are praying and hoping everyone will get thru this in one piece...altho we have family in Toowoomba and Gatton and Laidley...so heres hoping!

Wow, there's been a bit of conversation in here since I last checked. I don't seem to be getting notifications very regularly. Oh well...
Firstly, I hope that Sleepy, marni and Tina are all right with all these floods. Please take care ladies. It's such a shock seeing so much of Qld underwater - it'll be another shock seeing the destruction it's left once it all goes down again.
Sleep - Boz has been a VERY good sleeper lately, and is doing 12+ hours overnight with a feed around 4am, so doesn't wake until I wake him just before 8am. Then, he'll sleep again around 10:30am for anything up to 2 hours. If he sleeps past 12pm, he won't have an afternoon nap at all. The past two days he's been sleeping til between 5-6am then wanting to stay up. Yesterday he was up from 6:15am and today he's just gone back to sleep after waking at 5am (which is why I'm up! :doh:). I don't have any advice though as I don't actually know why he's sleeping so well atm and am sure it'll stop again soon enough!
Teeth - I can see B's top two just under the surface. They seem to trouble him every now and then, but haven't been too bad really.
Talking - B says 'dadada' constantly, sometimes when DH is around but mostly just cos he can! 'en-na' is his I am upset word, he'll use it if he wants to climb on you but you're out of reach or if you leave the room and he hasn't caught up yet! He says 'mama' occasionally, and only when I'm around, so I wonder if he actually knows how to use that one!! Plus, lots of screeching and groaning still - anyone else get that?
Food - B is doing well here too. He pretty much eats what we do for dinners with modifications (less or no tomato/onion and sauces) and lunches are mixed veges with cheese, pasta and/or meat. He still hasn't refused anything I've given him. And all home made food! Breakfast is rice cereal or baby multigrain. I have been planning to try weetbix but heard about the fibre/bran thing plus also worry he won't be getting enough iron. Suggestions for weetbix - make it very wet, mix it with some rice cereal and maybe only every second day. Occasionally B will crack in the middle of a meal. I just wait a couple of minutes and try again and he's fine. If he doesn't want something, I don't offer anything else so it's that or nothing! He's bfing 4 times a day.
Does anyone have plans to go back to work? About 1/2 my mum's group have gone back part time this year. I have at least another year off (depends on how stir crazy I get and how we go financially) but will only go back part time if I do.

Hope that all you mumma's up in QLD are safe & well and also all your families, it's such a terrible thing to see and I feel so helpless. DH has been up in Roma working and they are cut off because of the flooding in Dalby, can't wait till I get him home next Wednesday (all being well that brissie airport is operating)
Sleep - Well after 3 nights of 2 hourly wakings we're back down to two wake ups in 11-12hours so hoping she is settling down again and her day sleeps are still going great and she now goes down religiously around 9.30-10.00 and 2.30-3.00 with no fuss and sleeps for a minimum of 1 hour so even when she has cr*p night sleep knowing I get that time keeps me sane :)
Food - The past few days she's been eating "home" cooked food a bit more, last night was roast chicken with roast potato and sweet potato that we had for dinner and she was pretty proud of herself sitting there eating with us lol I still have rafferty's in the cupboard for back up :D
Work - I've asked to go back part-time which I know they won't agree too but I've already decided I'm not going back to my old job, I hated before I got pregnant and only stayed because I was. I'm going to go and work with mum in family business two days a week where I get to take A with me, will be setting up portacot and play area for her so that helps with the guilts about going to work abit plus DH can have her when he's home and since it's only 5 mins from home can bring her in for her feeds :)
Teeth - think A's top two are on the move too, that combined with a wonder week has been interesting :D
Crawling - still nothing here, she gets around on her belly and for a lazy lump when she wants to she can move pretty quickly! No standing or pulling herself up yet either.
We've finally cracked the 8kg's and are 66.5cms.......almost the official sizing for 00 lol.
Phoenix - Good to hear the night sleeping and feeding is improving. It sounds like it'll work out really well with you working with your mum, sounds like an ideal arrangement. B cracked 8kgs just before xmas and was 8.2kg according to our scales today. I haven't done his length for ages, so don't know what that is, but he's now in 00 for tops and bottoms and 0 for one piece suits (he needs the length). He's had a whole new wardrobe in the last 3 weeks - wish I could do that! Oh, hope your DH gets home OK too!
