Dragonbub the bit of the show that upset me the most were some of the mothers comments. One who said she just ignores her babies cries until she sounds really distressed and then goes puts a dummy in and walks out.. another said she put her baby in another room because it was 'too noisy'

Me too and it was the way they were saying it, didn't sit right with me, however it is hard to tell what they really might think. I think on TV when someone is edited, some statements come across the wrong way.

Jim's very strong but I haven't put him on the floor much, either there hasn't been a clear spot or I have been winding him.

Oh I must be tired lol I was thinking about everything to reply, and now that I have gotten to the part of replying I have forgotten what I was going to type... dah.. lol

Someone mentioned weighing... I love getting Bree weighed to see how much she has grown, I always guess how much, and I'm usually not far off the mark.. It makes things interesting, and you can see how they are progressing. I had Bree weighed on Tuesday because she needed to be weighed before getting her prescription for losec, she weighed 6.2kg fully clothed. I am going to take her back on the 4th to check how much she weighs at 3 months exactly. I have a section in her record book to write down her weight every month. I have also been keeping a feeding chart since she was about 6 weeks old... I find it interesting to follow how much she drinks each day, when she is sleeping, nappies, I even tracked how much milk I could make from one tin of formula, worked out how much each bottle costs, how much she wastes from a full tin of formula.
Bree had a bottle at 8 last night and slept til 7am, the night before she had a bottle at 10pm and slept til 9am... I wonder if she has a bit of a cold, I was a bit snuffly myself yesterday. She isn't too bad, just a bit of a cough and a sneeze occasionally, maybe she is just going through another growth spurt? She has some days where she is awake most of the day and other days where she is asleep most of the day.
She is fitting 00 wondersuits well. I had her in a size 0 jacket this morning.
I have Bree in the lounge in her basinet during the nights. She sleeps better out there, and so does hubby lol. I still wake up as soon as she thinks about making a noise or before. This morning I woke up about 15 minutes before she started to stir.
Still waiting for her to roll, she doesn't like tummy time except for after bath time when she is getting a massage. I have tried tricking her into tummy time by rubbing her back, but she doesn't fall for that lol. She is too much of a sticky beak and gets annoyed that she can't look around when she is on her tummy.
She smiles all the time, tries to eat her hands, and dribbles all over the place, seriously she is like a dripping tap lol
Have been busy trying to pack, hope to be moving soon! The sooner we can get this done, the better.

Well I think the probiotic might be working for Jim, he went from green poos back to yellow, and he seems a little less windy, so we shall see. I have lost my bottle of Infant's Friend though, so it will have to work.

We are having good morning BF's, and I manage to express a small amount some days.

I feel buggered even thinking of moving GG.

Hope i can join you in here(i know VERY late)i'm origanally from the due in may group.I have a few of you on facebook but always forget to come in here
My lil man Kaeden was born on 28 April weighing 3120g,he can be a demanding boy but sleeps well of a night time.I'm feeding him on demand and mostly goes anywhere 2-3hrs during the day or just constant feeding some days and absolutely drains me.Spent some of tuesday night in hosp with him as he had croup-was put on steroids and antibiotics but wasn't showing improvement 3 days later,so i took him back to drs.She said his temp was good and he seemed to be breathing ok but needed to take him to nearest ED.Went there and they checked his oxygen levels and monitered the breathing asked me a ton of questions so was told we could go home as everything was ok.Just horrible watching/listening to his coughing.He seems alot better now
Someone mentioned about getting bubs weighed,we haven't got him done by the clinic since his 8 week checkup but do have baby scales here at home

Hi ladies,

It has been ages since I have posted in here. Phoebe is doing really well. She has had a huge growth spurt and is now in 00. She grew 7cm in 5 weeks I will have to have her weighed this week. We have our hospital appointment next month on the 10th for her echocardiograph. She has a faster than normal heart beat. Fingers crossed that they don't find anything majorly wrong. I'm not sure if she is starting to teeth yet. She is really gripping onto the nipples with her gums and pulling - ouch and her gums feel so hard.

Soon2bfour - you will have to change your name now I to demand feed and some days it seems like she hardly has any then other days she is constantly on there. Last night she was attached for over an hour. I had 5 letdowns on the one boob

emc2 - glad the probiotics seem to be working.

GG - Brianna is going great guns isn't she. What a sleeper - I'm so jealous lol. Bugger about having to pack though. Good luck with it.

BBB and EMC - Sorry huns, I must have missed that bit as I only caught the end. I have had a few mums comment to me how they were a bit tougher with their second bubs and let them cry it out a little. When I said "what sort of cry?" they mean the grizzle cry, nto the full blown screaming. No mum I know would let her bub get so distressed and simply close the door. I really hope that is what the ladies on the show meant, otherwise you are both right, that is just cruel!

Yay on Jacob rolling over! River hasn't done it yet but he doesn't get alot of tummy time either (oops).

AFm - all good. Met the new step-mother-in-law yesterday, that was fun. I wont go into the story but suffice to say she is not much older than me. She was nice enough though, so whatever.

River is doing well, Soon2b4 - I hear you on the constant feeding, I keep meaning to express but there is just not much left at the end of the day . River is currently trying to stand up in my lap. He can push from a squatting position straight up and leans on me a bit, he thinks it's great, LOL. Better go, stinky bottom needs chaning...

kimb - Chloe has been doing similar with the clamping down on the breast, OUCHIES. wonder if it is a form of teething? my DD1 didnt get a tooth until the day after her 1st birthday!

When she was on S26, her poo was like a normal adults poo, a log lol, but it was usually better than green... ok tmi sorry lol.

I read on BB that green poos are a result of bubs not breaking down all the lactose. Sometimes Jake will get green poos after a big cluster feed, then they go back to mustard or caramel colour.

Hi Girls

I've been reading but not getting much time to update...

Both my boys are doing really well and are now sleeping through the night. They get a feed around 10.30pm each night to top them up and they are sleeping through until around 7am the next morning. Even then I sometimes have to wake one of them up as they are still asleep, although generally around 5-5.30am the grunting starts in their sleep so I just pop a dummy in and they are happy to drop off again. If the grunting carries on for too long or Liam starts to kick his legs around I just drag whoever is unsettled into bed with me and they then snuggle up and go back to sleep.

We had issues with Liam's poop's and while ago - they were like 'gastro' type nappies - very watery and smelly, so I have changed him onto Lactose free formula (we used this for DD) and it has helped in that department. Rhys is still on the Nan HA and he has olive green poo's which is supposed to be normal for that formula but he is starting to get really 'windy' as well so I'm going to put him on the Lactose free formula as well when his current tin is finished, although I still have 3 unopened tins of the formula in the cupboard....

No rolling over yet here, but both boys are trying to get onto their sides so will be interesting to see how long it takes but Liam is so strong that all he wants to do is sit up so I've started putting him in the bumbo as he can support his head already, Rhys is still not supporting his head fully yet but the pead told me that he is perfect for his age developmentally and that Liam is just more advanced in that dept.

Oops better go, my peace has now been broken as DD has woken from her nap.

I might buy them off you?? Jim's had various poos on Nan HA. I did think about intolerance too.

I'm not sure if the dark khaki poo was from my taking some iron tablets? as I'm comp feeding.

Anyway it went from that colour to mustard yellowy within hours, and he's pooing more frequently with the probiotic powder. I know Nan HA has probiotic in it, but we were often using the microwave to heat it. I only just got a bottle warmer too, it's fantastic for heating both formula and the odd bit of expressing that I can get in.

Oh poo! My lil guy had green poos after his shots but a midwife at sleep school said the green poo is too much lactose from the high lactose content in the fore-milk. I adjusted our feeding schedule to longer time between feeds which means less watery milk and more of the fatty hind milk. Keeps him fuller for longer too . So now back to normal yellow poo.

On rolling - River rolled from tummy to back first time yesterday! Seemed quite shocked at the sudden change in scenery

Dragonbub LOL about the change in scenery hahahaha that made me laugh... Bree doesn't like the scenery when she is on her belly (or should I say lack of scenery lol)

The subject of green poo's is interesting. I rang child and youth health 24 hour line, for several reasons but while I was on the phone I asked about the poo. She said it is common for babies on Nan HA to have green poos because it is excess iron that the baby doesn't need.... So there are a few different ideas getting about with that one.

Bree has been on losec for a week now, she was doing a lot better on it until yesterday. She vomited her dose from the night before and so she became really unsettled again yesterday because of it. I didn't know if I could give her another .5 of a tablet again, so I didn't give it, but paid for it all day yesterday with her being so unsettled. Last night she done the same thing just after having the losec again. So this morning, again, she was really unsettled, and again, I didn't give her anymore losec. I thought it would be ok, but didn't want to give it to her without asking further advice. In the meantime, I thought I could try her on a thickener, to help stop her vomiting (the losec helps settle the tummy so their not so unsettled with the reflux etc but it doesn't actually stop the vomiting) So I bought the thickener last night and tried it out this morning. As I thought the teat was too small, so I had to change it over, but the only other teat I had was too fast. She gulped down her bottle in 5 minutes rather than 15-20 minutes and gave herself another tummy ache. She was really unsettled again. So I checked out the teats through google, and found that the teats I was using was the fastest teat, so I went to the chemist, bought some more teats, some panadol, and another dummy, and of course Bree smiled at the ladies the whole time lol. Anyway, I got home, and those teats didn't work either, so back to the fast teat, but I tightened the lid tighter this time and it didn't seem to flow as fast. She didn't drink all her bottle though. It's the first time in ages that she has left 70mls behind. That was at 10:30 and now she is starting to stir again. I know the different cries now, and she is telling me now that something is hurting. It might be wind as she didn't burp after her last feed. I gave her panadol at 10am to help her along. I guess what I wanted to ask you ladies is if you have used thickener and did you find that your baby still finished off bottles with the thickener or does it fill them up quicker because its thicker? I never used it with my older three so I have no idea?

I have rang the speech therapist for feeding issues because she has been fussing with her bottle a lot lately. She often gets half way through and stops for a burp then refuses to drink the rest until I keep reminding her that it is there and eventually she takes it and usually finishes the whole lot.

Ohhh now I know she is unsettled, but they're so cute when they cry out aren't they. She often sounds like she is crying out to Dad... usually she only does it in the evening, so this is different...
