I find it amusing when people comment on how tiny she is, she certainly didn't feel tiny when I was pushing!

I agree, maybe we should have just a May 2011 group. How do we go about requesting it?

LOL They never feel tiny during labour. Bree was nearly 4 weeks early and she was anything but easier to push out. I think she was actually the hardest to push out, Im getting old see lol - Although for being born at 36w4d, she was the same size as DD1 who was born right on 40 weeks weighing 7 pound 2 !

I am squishing Bree into 000 I still have her 0000 under the change table, but seeing as she is getting lines down the sides of her legs from the 000 I doubt she would be getting back into 0000. I had her in a 00 the other night, thinking it was going to be miles to big, but it fit her quite well. I am going to have to go out and buy her some more 00 I think. In saying that though, it is only the wondersuits that it applies to, I had her in a 00 target suit and it didn't fit, it is designed slightly differently. We have a couple of outfits in 00 but they are still too big.

Maybe we can send a PM to the moderator who started this thread to request the "babies born in May" thread ! ?

Hi Ladies

L is sleeping atm so I have nothing to do until she wakes up. I've just done all the bathrooms etc and now i just need to vacuume and mop. But I'll wait till L wakes before I do that.

Bern - No I'm not exclusively expressing. I feed L first and then bring out the pump. I'm getting about 120 ml in the morning and last night I got 210ml just out of the 1 boob. I keep my EBM in the fridge overnight in case I need to bottle feed be it not enough supply or bubs still hungry etc... and then the next morning I'll freeze it. I know someone has answered your question about freezing so I won't rehash that one lol. I know my body will make enough for bubs but I'm so paranoid about losing my supply I panic if I don't express and get a minimum of 120mls per day. I have in the past been unsuccessful in breastfeeding I was lucky to even get to 5-6 weeks. And even then they were more on formula than breast milk. I would recomend getting an electric breast pump. It is so much easier than a manual hand pump. I have a Tommee Tippee closer to nature electric pump. it's doing the job nicely. I think if this one breaks or something happens to it I might look at a double pump as it would take less time than the single one I have now.

Gemini_girl - L gets excited too. She starts rooting for a feed before i've even sat down lol. I have a bath under the change table as well but i've found she's out grown it lol. So now it's the laundry tub as it's a bit higher than the bath tub but she'll be out of the laundry tub soon haha. She's also started blowing bubbles. My first 2 didn't do that. I just know she's going to be a drooler lol. Yuck I can't stand drool. I hope the move goes well for you. You must be super organised to be moving with a bub. I hope you have some great baby sitters. All the things we now have to cart around haha. Nappies, wipes, bottles now boiling water. We should just take a kitchen with us. I remember when my first was 8 weeks old and ex husband and I drove to Nowra and we stopped off at the big prawn (is that coffs???) for fuel any way I had to pay 50c to get boiling water from them to make DS a formula. What a joke that was at the time. I didn't think of a thermos. I'll remember that tip.

Farmgirl - I wish L was tiny. OB and I were expecting L to be around the 6 pound mark. Pooh to that she was 8 pound 13! She certainly surprised us all lol.

I too like the sound of a "Babies born May" thread.

It must be the day for sleeping... Bree woke up for a feed just before 1. I gave her a bottle, had to change her half way through so she would wake up to finish but she has gone right back to sleep again. Tried sitting her up, changing positions, talking to her and tickling her, but she stayed asleep... She slept from 10pm until 7am and is still tired, I guess its hard work doing all this growing!

Bree has grown out of her bath too, but I keep bathing her in it anyway though lol. She is usually pretty good and doesn't wriggle around too much. I sit her up to wash her hair. Although if she keeps up the splashing like she did last night (she splashed all her nappies underneath), I will have to change to other options.. the laundry sink sounds like a good idea. DH has suggested getting a bigger baby bath to sit on the kitchen bench lol He personally doesn't like the bath we have because of the back rest.

Gemini Girl - I bath E in the laundry tub, when we were renovating we specifically chose one that was nice and deep that would fit bubs. We also sometimes shower with her as well.

Porsche - You must be getting a good stash of EBM. A little later I will start expressing and freezing for solids. Great to hear breastfeeding is going so well for you this time. And about the tailbone, they also thought I had fractured mine giving birth, but MRI showed all clear, so diagnosis was nerve damage. Im slowly regaining sensation in my lower back.

Hi to everyone else, no more personals as DD is ready for a feed. Always cluster feeds at this time of night.

AFM - E is 5 weeks old tomorrow, time is flying. Still exclusively breastfed, and not one bottle or formula. Its a hard battle but we are getting there. E is still in 0000 - a tiny thing! (6lb9oz at birth and 9 days overdue). Great sleeper, doing 6 hrs, feed, then 3-4hrs in her bassinette in our room (since birth).

How is everyones elses bubs doing at sleeping? What are your sleeping arrangements?

Farmgirl - Jim was an emergency caesarean. He must have turned at the last minute. My Mum and I had been asking all along if breech could be genetic, and they said no, but clearly it must be! The baby's father, my Mum and I were all breech babies.

I put the longer version on the Belly Buddies thread, but what happened was I had contractions 15 minutes apart until about 11am, then the second time I went to the loo, my waters broke, the pressure was incredible. I then thought I felt a hand, but it was a foot as it turned out. Once my Mum saw the foot, she called the ambulance. I was then on all fours for fifteen minutes I've been told, while they sent a paramedic car and ambulance! from Chermside. Then I remember leaving the bedroom but then being helped to walk downstairs, then back on all fours on the trolley, into the ambulance on all fours down Gympie Road, through the roadworks going on there, and to the hospital. They tried to do an epidural, but by then the contractions were really coming, and so they did a GA. Basically I had to focus on my breathing and they gave me gas in the ambulance.

I've just moved back to my unit on Saturday, so Jim is still missing his grandparents. Grandad cuddled him every night after work and helped wind him. I think he also misses flannelette as Mum and Dad wear that a lot, I will have to get some flannelette pj's.

Yes GG we have been through a lot, I guess what has helped is I love being organised, so that was a massive help, and then Mum and Dad really stepped in to help, my SIL came to the hospital when my Mum couldn't, and everyone was so generous to me. I got gifts from people I haven't seen for years, and it was really odd, I didn't get too many double ups on things, I just seemed to get just what bubs and I needed at that time.

We've had lots of home visits from Qld Health, they stuffed up a bit in hospital, they were short staffed on the Saturday, and so I ate a large meal, which caused a few problems, and then they wanted to discharge me early as well. Apart from that the other staff have gone out of their way for us. I had extra community midwife visits, and now with Child Health, I have had the first one today, and another one on the 19th of July.

With feeding, I had trouble with my supply, it was lucky my parents helped with everything while I was trying to get it going. I was on Motilium. I tried Fenugreek but I took too much and it made me vomit.

It's so annoying though, on the whole everything else has gone well through the pregnancy and we are so lucky to be alive, and the baby's father has really dropped the ball. At least I have Jim now and he is a lovely baby he makes things easy for me.

He is sleeping now, his routine has been thrown by coming home so I think I need to do the same.

Jacob is nearly 2 months now, hard to believe, it's gone so fast!
My parents came and visited from sydney last weekend. Not only did I gave a conflict with mum on sunday for being rude and disrespectful in my house, BUT she came down with conjunctivitis on saturday and this morning poor little Jacob had it, and by the evening so do DH and I!
I am supposed to be going up to sydney to visit next week but I'm pretty annoyed now and don't feel like it.

Also, today I was boiling the dummy's to disinfect them and walked away and forgot about them! The result, as DH found out, was 4 melted dummys on the base of the pot! :(

I have just been catching up, on this thread so I read the first four pages.

What happened was even more so due to Jim's birth, I had to rely on my parents a lot more, but we worked well together, I had new ideas from what I've basically learned from the internet, and they had all the old good ideas.

I wasn't traumatised so much from the birth but more the days afterwards (bowel probs) and early discharge (at 7.30am!). So also I had him on the breast in the early days but the supply came much later. I was feeding him for hours on end. One night Mum got some sort of can of Carnation milk and diluted for him as we ran out of S-26 prepackaged formula. He also had a red umbi and it was a Sunday so the midwife (they do weekend visits) said to go to the Children's hospital and get checked over.

Anyway I now have two breastpumps a manual pidgeon one I got second hand and a Medela Swing. (luckily pidgeon bottles are compatible with medela) I haven't got around to having a good routine with expressing though. I mainly try and feed him for 20 minutes at least, and then top up with NAN-HA. But I vary that a lot, if he is fussing I might give him formula then breast, then formula. I have been on antibiotics also just post op and from a bladder infection.

He has been quite windy so we tried home made gripe water - cooled boiled water with a bit of sugar also good for hiccups, Infacol, and now Infant's Friend.

However many nights he has slept for quite long periods, four hours and now six hours SOME nights.

The child health nurse yesterday said if they chuck up an equivalent of an A4 sized paper, that is only 20ml.

We have been using dummies but he spits them out quite often lol. It was just to calm him down while getting feed ready or ripping my shirt off lol.

OMG I just typed a huge reply and bl00dy lost it all!!!!! Now I'm cranky. I'll redo a brief summary of what I had.

Summertime - Yes I have quite a stash of EBM. I have a draw in our bar freezer dedicated to all my frozen stash and now I need to enroach on another draw as I've run out of room. I'm storing it all for when I head back to work in October. Whomever is looking after L will have plenty there. My tail bone is pain. I find it really painful to sit and to get up from sitting and also rolling over in bed. The pain is like the pain after a vaginal birth except my pain hasn't gone away if that makes sense.

L sleeps 6 hours for the first half of the night and then 4 hours after that. She cat naps in the morning till around 10 -11am and then has another 4 hour sleep and then cat naps again in the afternoon. She has her own bassinette in her own room. I wouldn't be able to sleep properly if she was in our room as I'd be wide awake at every little sigh she'd make. I do co sleep sometimes if she is really upset or unsettled but that isn't very often and I'm not encouraging that behaviour as I don't want it to lead to problems down the track. gee I sound like a mean mummy lol.

Gemini_girl - I too shower with bubs if DH is home to bring her in and grab her when we are done. That could be an option as well. haha to the splashing. Could be an exspensive bath if your using disposables.

Bern - Cluster feeding is when bubs will want to feed pretty much all afternoon. They feed and then have a play or catnap and then want to feed again. The cycle can go on all afternoon sometimes. L doesn't do it so much anymore but there were days where all I seemed to do was sit on the couch and feed all afternoon. Hard to get dinner done when she's like that. Ow how cute for DD to be sleeping with DH while playing playstation. DH does that but it's watching the motorbikes or football on TV. Gives me a great break to do stuff.

EMC - Crickey what a birth story. I'm glad your family was there. Is Jim your first?

Babybelly burton - Time is certainly going by in a hurry. L will be 8 weeks on Friday! Oh dear to your dummies. Lucky it wasn't worse.

GREAT NEWS cant be happier! i so was not looking forward to having another child with hip dysplasia, i know there are worse things for your child to get but it was quite a stressful time with Tianna, she was in plaster from 3.5 months till 7 months then in a brace for another year, i just felt like i missed out on all the cute baby stuff that other mums got to experience. The ultra guy said Chloe has good strong hips. i am so happy i wanna cry :)

I used to work for Cystic Fibrosis Queensland, and have been praying we don't get a call at six weeks with any bad results from the heel ***** test. It's funny what you become sensitive to when you have knowledge about it.

Jim is sleeping longer, so at night he sleeps sometimes from 11pm to 4 or 5am which is good.

Last night though I had bad reflux, I think just from stress though, but then he had it this morning as his spit up was yellow. So I'm not sure if he has reflux or is just a chucker.

Yay! B got through his needles ok! Went bright red and screamed when the needle actually went in but was just a bit grizzly after and now he's sleeping in bed, not my arms (which I have been trying to do all week to break the habit of only sleeping in my arms or the sling). So happy!

LOL Porsche I keep her nappies on top of her drawers now so they don't get wet. She has been really enjoying her baths, she is all smiles while bathing.

I took Brianna to get her injections the other day, but again the nurse wasn't there, silly me forgot to mention when I booked that it was for her injections. Mental note.

I was about to feed Brianna the rest of her bottle earlier tonight when she broke out into a coughing fit and stopped breathing for about 10 seconds. I freaked out. I'm even more freaked out because MIL told us two days ago that she has tested positive to Whooping Cough. I wasn't even aware that she was even getting tested for it. I asked the doctor to do a swab on Brianna but he thinks that because its been close to a month since we seen MIL, Brianna would be really sick now if she got it. After what happened this evening, I am going to get a second opinion and demand a swab.

That is good news Bern. Poor Tiana, quite a long period to be in a brace.

I am meant to get Jim's injections next week but we will probably do it the week after.

I am having trouble with the Huggies we were given a box, and I've only used half of them, and now they are leaking, even with pilchers!

I just tried a flat nappy on him but they are too big, I tried a fold which said it was for small babies, but it just seemed too big on him.

gemini - definitely go get a second opinion and demand that swab, specially if someone within the family has tested positive.

emc - try youtube, search for a newborn fold ( you should find 3 videos showing a different fold ) the 3rd one is the newborn and thats what ive been using on chloe when i use the flats.

Hi everyone

I'm reading just not getting much time to post. DH went back to work this week so it has been a challenge to juggle the twins and DD on my own, plus I've been getting over a horrid cold that the whole family got - even the twins - although U seemed to get it worse than everyone else. I'm also still trying to adjust to the limited sleep, up between 4am-5am for early feed (DH does the one around midnight) and then when the boys are fed and back in bed my day starts. Washing, preparing DD's meals for the day, breakfast, bottle washing and preparation etc. and this is all before DD wakes for the day. Sometimes if I'm lucky I get a shower in but generally this has to wait until after the boys morning feed and DD's breakfast.

Immunisations next week for us and I'm hoping they have the same effect on the twins as they did on DD, once she had her 8 week needles she started sleeping through the night but the boys are still feeding every 4 - 4 1/2 hours although yesterday evening they went 6 hours between feeds. I'm trying to use dummies to try and get them to wait longer to feed as when 1 wakes for a feed we always wake the other but I'm finding that if they wake and want to feed 4 hourly then they struggle to have 1/2 a bottle as they are not really hungry they just was topping up. So the longer we can make them wait too feed means they will generally have most if not all of their bottle. I hope it is not too long though before the drop from 6 feeds a day as they are stacking on weight - but I suppose even though we think they are chunky now they are still small in comparison to most 7/8 week old babies. My guess is that they would both weigh around 4.3kg's which is less than on of my BB friends on here who had her baby yesterday and she weighed more than my boys do now at birth.

Anyhow better go have a shower so I can go grocery shopping first thing this morning so I then have the whole day at home to do my usual everyday chores, ah the joys of having 3 under 2.

kellyd - my chloe weighs 4.7kg at 7 weeks, so if your boys weigh around 4.3 sounds pretty good to me :)

shanti - feel free to join us, a few of the mums from your group have commented that noone seems to post, we did put the idea out there that maybe they should just turn us into the May 2011 group. actually im going to go message the mod that made this thread to see if they can :)

GG, please demand that swab, not too long ago a lady was posting her 6week old had whooping cough and she had to demand her swab.

Jacob is blowing bubbles too, he's going to be a drooler as well. Funny because I specifically chose my dog breed, schnauzers, because they don't drool, and now I have a dribbly baby!

KellyD the twins weights are great, Jake is only about 4.5kg and he's strong and healthy and long!

BBB: Too funny with the dribbiling, maybe in retrospect you should have gone for the drooling dog, at least you can put it outside.

AFM - I've been putting off my six week check up until I take Amelia for her needles next week. I've been having a good run with her and her sleeping lately. I can't wait until she can roll so I feel more confident to allow her to sleep all night on her tummy. She is a dream to put to bed, I just give her a feed, change her nappy, cuddles, and then into the cot on her tummy and she puts herself to sleep with no fuss at all. So different to my son who was a nightmare. I did this yesterday at lunch time and she slept through for 6 hours!

I too ladies have been keeping a close eye out for whooping cough. It seems to be everywhere. From letters in the mail to advise kids at Family Daycare have had it, to my SIL who is awaiting test results for herself. We have all had the vaccination, but I'm so mindful Amelia is the only one without the protection. I'm hoping my breastfeeding is giving her some protection, but you just can't be too careful. My son has had a 38 degree temperature for the last two days, and I'm hoping it's not what his aunty has (we were in contact with her before she was tested).

My house is a mess today as I have the new kitchen going in. Makes for an interesting day trying to keep a three year old out of the cupboard contents.

Is the hormone rash, is it from our breastmilk or from us before they came into the world? I can't remember.

We went down to the park today, his Poppa came for a visit and when he left I took Jim downstairs and my neighbour had a hold, while I went and brought my stroller down, so that worked well. Then she brought him back up when we came back and gave him a bottle.

I am still doing BF and FF, and now I'm trying some terry nappies. It's easy for me, because he's not too bad to look after but also as I live in a one bedroom unit, so my washing machine, clothes lines and kitchen are within a couple of metres of each other.

The Huggies are leaking as he is getting bigger.

I am having trouble expressing but he is feeding well, maybe it's just something I need to do more of.

Kelly I think I've said it before, but I will say it again.. I take my hat off to you! You are one awesome mummy. You must be supermum. I find myself so tired just from having one lil bub who sleeps quite well during the night. You and hubby are doing an amazing job. My hubby went back to work this week too and he is exhausted just from trying to get back into the swing of things at work, I can only imagine how tired your hubby is after the midnight feed. Heres to hoping that the boys start sleeping through soon so you and hubby can get some much needed rest.

BBB ROFL well I guess lil Jacob won't dribble all his life! I have to say Brianna has become quite a dribbler too lol and I think I would prefer baby dribbles over dog dribbles lol

Farmgirl Glad to hear everything is going well with you. Its lovely when we can put them down to bed and they fall off to sleep on their own. I hope your son returns to good health soon. How did your kitchen turn out? Did your son help rearrange the contents? lol

As for us.. Brianna is doing ok. I get a little concerned anytime I hear a cough. She woke up with the sniffles yesterday, but today she didn't. She just has tummy trouble today. She is asleep in my arms at the moment, but any movement and she starts crying, will have to give her some mylanta I think. She woke up a little before 5 this morning, its the earliest she has woken in over a week, and she has been going to bed about 9pm. She generally feeds 3 hourly during the day, so she has the recomended intake for the day. I offer her 150ml bottles, she started to drink the full bottle then went back to taking about 130ml.

I'm still squishing her into her bath lol she's fine until she starts stretching out, then she bumps her head. She thinks its hilarious, its quite funny to watch, and its nice to see her so happy. Never known anyone to be so pleased about having a bath lol.

I tried getting her in for a swab yesterday but the clinic was booked out. I'm quite annoyed they didn't just slide her in somewhere as I told them she is only 8 weeks old and that she had stopped breathing etc. It wouldn't be the first time they have squeezed someone in, besides how long does it take to do a swab anyway (I had DD2 to an ENT specialist earlier in the week, I'm not kidding when I say she was in seeing him for a total of about 3.5 minutes - and that was only because I asked him to do a letter for Australian Hearing - he got someone else to type the letter while we sat back out in the waiting room) So I dare say a doctor who has seen Brianna just a couple of days ago, who knows the situation, could do a swab in less than 5 minutes. Anyway, so now I will try to get her in tomorrow. I won't get her injections until the swab comes back clear, its just to much for one little body otherwise. I will ask the nurse to weigh her too as she will be 2 months tomorrow! I think she should be well over 5kg.

GG: That's so poor about not being able to get into the dr...

EMC: I'm using up the last of my Huggies newborn nappies as even though the boys haven't hit 5kg's yet they just don't seem to be able to collect all the wee and poop. Once they are all used up the boys will be moving up to Snugglers and Babylove (I buy whatever is on special at BigW - as I have 3 kids in nappies to buy for) nappies which do up to 8kg's. I find these are a bit bigger width ways to catch everything.

I had to take Rhys to emergency yesterday as we thought he was over the cold but for the past couple of days he has been breathing very hard and he chest was sounding "crackly" and as there is so much going around at the moment I was concerned he had a chest infection or possibly pneumonia. I took him to the emergency at the private hospital where they were born as I didn't want to risk having to wait too long at our public hospital - I know he would have been seen as soon as bed was available but it is a very busy emergency dept - as soon as I registered him at emergency he was taken in straight away and had a nurse waiting to do all of his vitals.

Luckily he was getting 100% of oxygen into his lungs, but he was breathing quite rapidly to get all the air he needed. Oh and they weighed him also and he was just over 4.3kg's so at least he has still put on weight while he has been sick. So we probably had to wait maybe 10 mins for the Dr to see him and after a quick check up I was told that he has bronchitis. So onto anitbiotics for 7 days and have to see our local GP this week to have him checked to make sure he is getting better, although our GP is on holidays this week so I have to try and get an appt with another Dr at the practice to see him. Anyway he has had 3 doses of anitbiotics so far and even though he is still "crackly" in the chest he does seem much happier and even slept for 5 hours last night after a bath (Liam also slept that long as well..YAY) and he is even having more of his feeds - he has drained 160mls a couple of times already today - as he had gone off his bottles for the last couple of days so that's a positive sign.

So another busy week for me this week - Rhys and his Dr appt (hopefully Tuesday) then Wednesday Liam has to have a Renal Scan which involves an IVF and dye to do, then both boys to the Chiropractor on Wednesday afternoon to make sure everything is still as it should be and then Thursday in Immunisations. Poor DD will be missing out on mummy time this week but MIL is coming on from Merimbula on Thursday night for a week to visit plus my home help starts on Thursday for 6 weeks which means my vacuuming, mopping and cleaning of the kitchen and bathroom is done for a little while for me.

GG: Hope B is better soon and you get the swab for peace of mind and its ok. I have tried the Bjorn carrier again recently and Jacob is fitting in it better, I am going to give it a real test out when I take Jacob up to Sydney next weekend to meet all the rest of the family. I probably wouldn't buy one myself, but i'm happy to use it as it was a freebie! People on BB seem to swear by ErgoBaby carriers though, i''d prob get one if I didnt have the Bjorn, because it really is a lot better at the shops to just carry bubs and not push a bulky pram around.

I got offered a part time job yesterday, in a really good, high traffic store, full of staff I know and get along with really well... But my parental leave doesn't end till 7th September and they'd need me to start before then. So now I have to toss up whether I end my parental leave early in order to secure a good job that i don't even have to search for or even interview for! Or do I pass on it, which means I have to start the job hunt in September (for those not in my due date group, my employee closed up about a month before I was due to start maternity leave so I don't have a job to go back to there).
I wanted to also stay home with Jacob as long as possible, but I know financially, this won't be a realistic option come September anyway when the government parental leave runs out.
It also means working Thursday night, Sat and Sunday, if I want to avoid full day childcare - DH gets Sat/Sun off, so i'd only need a babysitter for like 4-5hrs on a Thursday afternoon this way, BUT it doesn't give us a lot of family time :(

Don't know what to do ???? :(

Hi girls!!!

Thank you all for making me feel welcome in this group. I knew I would be welcome in here and it's nice to be in with all you girls I was pregnant with in our belly buddies group!! ;) My bub is younger than most of your bubs but that's good as I know what's coming up as I read what your bubs are doing etc..... besides, this is bub #2 for me, so no big deal, I've done all this before!!! :)

Lillian was born on 26 May after a 14.5hr labour (longer than my first by 5hrs!!) and drug free natural labour again. I am yet to write up my birth story...... she was 10lb 6oz!!!! 4.7kg hahaha 6 days overdue.

Well, Lillian is 5 weeks old now and I'm really enjoying being a Mummy 2nd time around.... it's sooooo much easier 2nd time around. I'm more relaxed, less stressed, don't need to learn everything there is about being a new Mum etc and how to care for a baby, done it all before. Lilly is so easy to look after, she rarely cries and when she does it's for milk and she really is such a content, happy little baby. She started smiling at 2 weeks of age!!! So sweet.... I don't remember DD1 smiling that young, she was about 4 weeks I think when she did. DD1 loves and adores her baby sister and she is being really gentle with her. First couple of weeks we had a few moments where we had to tell her off but generally now she's wonderful with her little sister!! I love having two baby girls and think about how they will grow up together, playmates etc..... really really special.

Lilly has had two colds, yes two colds in her short life of 5 weeks :o AND tonsilitis (caught from her older sister!!)..... I think these germs followed DD1 home from Kindy. We are all well again now thankgoodness!! It's been hard having Lilly sick as it affects their feeding big time..... saline nasal spray and vaporiser has been in constant use in our house!!!! :rolleyes:

We spent the day at dreamworld today (got 2yr passes) and we had a really lovely family day!! DD1 who is nearly 2.5yrs old absolutely loved it and went on some rides and kept saying "faster" LOL she is crazy for a 2 year old!! just loves the rides and not scared at all..... and Lilly slept in the close carrier all day long except for waking for 2 feeds...... easy!!

I hope to start catching up with you all as of today, I will try and post more often. Just been enjoying being a Mum of two girls and adjusting to it all. So much easier this time around!! Lilly seems to have settled so nicely into our family. We're so happy. Hope things are going as well for you all too!!!!!

Hi all, I don't get much time to post on here so thought it was time for an update.

Phoebe is doing well. I need to get her weighed this week as we haven't had it done for a couple of weeks. Last weigh in she was 4.85kg bare, that was at 6 weeks and she is now 9 :o OMG the time is just going to fast. Phoebe is almost in 00's now and she has been out of newborns since she was about 3 weeks old. I find the babylove ones are better and just that bit bigger. We do use the Aldi ones as well :) She also loves her baths and showers and we have incorporated it into her nighttime routine. She has a bath/shower, gets massaged, dressed, fed and then it's beddy bys time. She is also awake for much longer periods now and likes to look around at everything. She is going to love the school holidays with all the rest of the kids at home :) We went to my mums last night for her birthday party. Phoebe got passed around like a sack of spuds lol. Even my granddad got cooed at and smiled at and he just melted.

We do have some trouble with DD3, she likes to cover Phoebe's mouth over with her hand until Phoebe can't breath. We have gone off at her so many times but she is still doing it. We do still spend time with each child so I'm thinking it's something else - not jealousy.

EMC – I’ve never had any problems with the huggies leaking. I’m using cloth full time now but not the terry flats. I use MCN’s. Maybe try another brand? I used to get the cosies or cosie fits (I forget the name but it sounds like one of those) brand from the chemist when my first 2 were babies. They are cheaper than the other brands and are a great nappy. What problems are you having expressing?

Gemini_girl – I can’t believe they couldn’t slot you in. I hope you are able to get that swab done. It must have been scary to see you bub not breath. I’d be straight on the phone to the hospital to ask for their oppinion.
L loves her bath to. She stretches out and has a giglge now and then.

Kelly – Don’t worry too much about weight. As long as they are gaining weight that’s all that matters. What an adventure you’ve had. I hope the broncitis clears up.

Farmgirl – Yes I did make the expo. It was a great day out. I’ve been getting out and about in the last week. My Mum surprised me on Friday by popping in. She might pop in today as well. I too am waiting for L to start rolling lol. I forget when they start to do that.

Babybellyburton – You can transfer the PPL to your DH if you need to. Not sure what the process is but it could be an option if you don’t want to pass up on the job.

Is anyone else having problems with tummy time?I put L down and she doesn’t raise her head all the way up. She also starts screaming after all of about 1min. I’m not sure what is going on. I really don’t want her to regress. But not sure how to encourage her to lift her head high.

In regard to the "May" thread if we all just post in here the other may just drop off?

Porshe, I saw an awesome vid on the net about tummy time being not the best and better to put then on their back and let them learn to roll over... I'll try and dig it up and post.

Porshe: My boys aren't that impressed with tummy time. Liam will move his head from side to side but put Rhys on his tummy he will just get himself into a comfy position and then fall asleep. To help with the neck muscles when we burp them we will always switch them around including one when they are over our leg and they both seem to lift their heads up when we do that, I also will let then lay on my chest and they will also lift their heads then as well. Liam already has fantastic head control so I'm not too worried, with Tara she hated tummy time as well - she was a spewy baby - and she learnt to lift her head. As for the rolling, Liam has done an involantery roll at the MCHN visit at 3 weeks but I remember her first real roll (she was trying to do it) was 1 day before my birthday and she was just over 4 mths old.

It sounds like there is quite a few illnesses getting around :( I guess thats a part of having a winter baby (this is my first winter baby)
I have Bree booked in to see the doctor this afternoon. She was really unsettled last night, kept crying for about 3 hours on and off. I think she just wore herself out in the end. She hasn't been coughing too much, she chokes occassionally and gasps for air. My usual doctor was booked out today so we are seeing a different doctor, hope he does the swab - just to be sure. Maybe give something different to help settle her belly, something that doesn't loose its magic after a few days would be good.

I am typing one handed as Bree only wants to sleep upright at the moment. I feel really tired myself today, watching Bree sleeping in my arms just makes it worse lol. She has woken up at 5 the last couple of mornings. She had 6.5 bottles yesterday. Think she might be going through another growth spurt. I want to get her weighed today as she is 2 months old, I'll wait and see how she is.

I haven't had a check-up myself, I keep thinking about it, just haven't gotten around to it. The amount of time I spend at doctors with my kids is crazy, so my health usually gets forgotten about. I don't think I said much about it before, the girls from my belly group know how much time I spent in hospitals when pneumonia went through my family during the third trimester and then I ended up in wheelchair because of my pelvis/hips. But anyway, to give a quick run down on how it is everyday in my household... DD2 has just been through the craniofacial unit, so she had to see half a dozen specialists and we had to sit down at a board meeting afterwards with a room full of specialists - psychologist, speech pathologist, ENT, just to name a few. She was taken in for GA to have 6 teeth pulled a few weeks ago. Thats just the start of it all. My DS was prescribed contact lenses at 18 months of age as he is legally blind without correction. Both DD2 and DS have hearing loss to some degree. DS wears hearing aids, DD2 has just been setup with an FM system for the classroom. They both have hair loss which has kept doctors scratching their head for the past 2 years. They both have social and behaviour issues that we're trying to deal with, DD2 - anxiety, DS - obssessive compulsive. They both wet the bed every single night. DD2 has been through two bedwetting programs. I have been thinking about buying a second washing machine to help keep up with washing two sets of bedding every day. A lady I spoke to the other day told me her daughter didn't stop wetting the bed until she was in her late 20's - OMG.
Anyway, so thats why I don't like going to see doctors. I've dealt with too many of them.

Kim - Yes I find routine makes it so much better. I hope you can sort out the mouth covering issue soon. I have nothing to suggest at the moment, but I will keep it in mind. I find with my DD2 especially that it doesn't matter how much time I spend with her one on one, she still gets jeleous.

Shanti its nice to hear that despite all the trouble you have had with illness, Lillian is settling in well with the family.! Look forward to hear from you more often :)

BBB have fun in Sydney, you lucky duck :) let me know how you get on with the bjorn carrier... ! We'll have to catch up sometime after your trip, when I know for sure that Bree isn't carrying any nastys. Not sure what advice to give you surrounding your job offer. I guess you'll have to look into the finer details. With recent work history, I doubt you would have any trouble finding another job when the time is right for you.

Kelly you gotta be happy with service like that. I'm glad you got in right away, I hate the thought of being anywhere near hospitals. The reception staff at the clinic on Sat told me to take Bree to hospital, but like I said to DH, if I take her to hospital and she didn't have it, chances are high she will pick something up. So I am happy they got your little boy seen to straight away. Hope he recovers quickly. xx

porsche - we dont do much tummy time here, usually after her bath i flip her long enough on her tummy to dry her back etc. sometimes when we burp her we lay her across our legs on her tummy and she holds her head up that way ( we support her under her neck with our hand.
