Hi ladies, I hope you are all relatively well. Based on facebook statuses it seems a few of us are a little under the weather, so fingers crossed we are all feeling better by Sunday!
I took Kyson for an audiology appointment today. He had never had a hearing test done (the hospital didn't have the onces they do just after birth until just before Shayla was born), so at Kyson's 2 year MCHN checkup I just asked about his hearing as I was a little concerned he was lagging behind slightly in his speech. The nurse thought he was fine (as did I anyway) but said I might as well get him tested. Would you believe the earliest appointment was 8 months away?! Crazy. So he had it today and it went for almost an hour. He was really good through it and enjoyed all the "games". He passed with flying colours even despite the audiologist saying that this was one of the hardest ages to test due to them not always completely understanding how certain games work. I was pretty sure we were going to get good results anyway because his language and speech is much better these days. I think he might have been a little slower to start because he doesn't go to daycare or anything like that and pick up extra words and language there. So he only has me to listen to during the day. I'd get bored of me too ;)
Oh, I have no idea when this occurred, but Kyson has all his baby teeth now, lol. I have no idea when his last four back molars arrived. I finally got him to let me count his teeth this morning and they were there, haha. Maybe in hindsight I can blame a bad tanty week on teething ;)
Shayla is growing up much too quickly for my liking. It's amazing how quickly they go from "learning to walk" to just being a "walker". She's definitely a walker now. She only ever crawls to get to something to pull herself up on, and that's not going to last long because she is really close to being able to stand up without assistance too. Of course her first word was "Dada", and now she also has a fairly good "rello" for hello (which she pairs with a cute girly wave) and "baba" for bye-bye (also paired with the hand twirling wave). I've recruited Kyson to help teach her to say Mummy and every now and then he stands in front of her saying "Mummmmmmy.... mummmmmmy" lol! He's still a bit too rough with her and pushes her over randomly (and not so randomly when he is cranky or she is trying to get something he has), but he is definitely improving.
I think Kyson is much more aware of the idea of a baby being in my tummy this time around. When I go to the Ob appointments he tells be that we are going to see the "baby in the tummy" and he often pulls my tops up so he can look at my belly button and poke it. I got a couple of cute photos of him kissing my belly button ♥
In baby news, things are going well. The baby is super active now and my Ob even had trouble getting the thigh measurement last week because bub was kicking so much. All the measurements have he baby growing spot on for dates. When my Ob said that I replied with "for now..." and he laughed. I joked about maybe having a smaller one this time and he said that in honesty that if the baby started to look smaller than Kyson and Shayla were he would probably get worried that there was a problem with the placenta. After hearing that I should probably stop hoping for a small baby, lol. It's not that I don't want a big baby, I just thought it would be interesting to experience a smaller baby. A friend from mother's group brought her 4 week old with her a few weeks ago and the baby was still smaller at that age than both Kyson and Shayla were born, haha!
Wow, I can't believe the kids are letting me write this much. Shayla is having a great nap (she's still an awesome day sleeper, but still working on the nights) and Kyson is playing Tozzle on the iPad in the lounge room. I probably could have gotten heaps of cleaning done, but I'm sure you'll all agree that cleaning is way over-rated yeah? ;)
CLEANING IS WAAAAAAAAAAAY OVER RATED!
I'm buggered - have had some ordinary side effects to clomid - and given i started taking them just as the cold/flu cleared, it's just not fun!
will do a proper update about E etc later in the week - 2 more days of work then i'm off til the 28th, work one day, then off til the 3rd (i think) - so i'll have time for real catch up's!
Is anyone noticing this is the first year our May 09 babies really understand christmas? it's great :D
Hope all are well.
E is very much involved in everything Christmas - she talks about Santa every day, asks for the pretty lights every night, and knows we are going to see our family on Christmas day - she keeps asking how long til we see them lol

Merry christmas everyone!! Jemima has opened a few of her pressies with us this morning. The rest will have to wait till Daddy gets home at 1pm for lunch. She was so incredibly excitied!!! I think I am nearly as much as she is!!

E tore through her presents (and ours) in minutes. has decided she is going to play with her new cars on the back of the couch and lost half of them down the back already. given mummy and daddy both warned her not to do it, she's gonna have to suck it up. it's too heavy for me to move solo, and poor C is very very sick with gastro so i won't let him do it. he needs to rest and recover as much as he can. VERY quiet Christmas day today

We went to the zoo - so that made me think of you guys.
Great not too busy (probably comparable to a week day when not holidays) - and places to shelter from rain.
Cerys was so slow we haven't opened anything that was under the tree yet - so just the kids santa sacks so far - other presents tomorrow.
I guess she'll be opening them UK Christmas time Vic :)
Great day here to - Breakfast/Brunch with my family, late arvo lunch at the BIL/SILs house - kids had a ball!
Two full days off celebration here mean tomorrow we are likely to do the traditional Boxing Day here - Lounge around the house with the Cricket on the tv investigating our gifts more closely, eating yummy leftovers and letting Bailey play with all his toys all day :) Looking forward too it

We had an amazing Christmas. It was absolutely beautiful. Kyson's third Christmas, and Shayla's special first Christmas. They both had a great time opening presents. Kyson would get a little side-tracked with presents he had already opened until we would start to rip the paper off a new present and he would get excited about what was in it, hehe. Shayla ate surprisingly little paper, hehe. I remember Kyson eating a lot more paper his first Christmas, but he was about 4 months younger though. We had a lovely Christmas breakfast with DH's family where we opened presents from family. We do a Kris Kringle for the older family members, but the kids get something from everyone, so we packed quite a bit of 'loot' into the car, and then off we headed to my parents house for lunch. We stuffed ourselves silyl with all the food, then opened up our Santa Sacks. Would you believe there was 15 Santa Sacks all lined up in the lounge room? LOL! Then we opened our gifts from the family. We also do a Kris Kringle with my family and then Kyson and Shayla (the only littlies in the family) get presents from everyone. The tree was literally over flowing and presents were everywhere! Then it was time for some backyard cricket, general lazing about, and then some swimming in the pool. We always tend to just hang around at my parents house until dinner time and then feast on the left overs before heading home. It took forever to pack the car and our new 8 seater car almost didn't fit everything!!! In fact, Mum has mentioned that we left stuff behind, but with all we brought back I can't imagine what we might have forgotten, haha.
All in all it was just such a wonderful day. Since then I've been rearranging toys, packing old toys away, un-boxing new toys, assembling toys and basically trying to find room for them. Still not finished though! Lol.
I also can't believe that next Christmas there is going to be another baby celebrating their first Christmas! Gosh I love my babies so much ♥♥♥
Oh, I also forgot to say something to Nay. I was reading your blog and saw that you were planning on finding out Rusty's gender at the morphology scan. Just thought I'd let you know that some sonographers are using a new technique to determine gender at 12 weeks scans. They look at the angle of the genital tubercle (not actually looking at the genitals themselves) and depending on the angle they can "guess" the gender with about 88% accuracy at 12 weeks. That's how hubby found out this bub's gender so early. If you want to know early it might be worth asking if your sonographer can do it ;)
I'll be on that KL - fingers crossed I get a skilled sonographer that can give us an accurate guess :):

Nay - you're having a girl. that's my gut feeling anyway. wanna know something interesting? i was the exact same gestation as you are today the very first time i felt those little butterfly kicks from the poppet. and i know it was kicks cos they were in the same place through til about 19 weeks!
Christmas was something of a bust for us. crackers for breakfast, pancakes for lunch, salad for tea. Poor DH was still feeling very crook. E's trampoline STILL isn't up (today it's happening, no matter what!) and parts were missing from her main inside present (kitchen) so it couldn't be assembled on Christmas eve. i went to bed in tears that it just wasn't coming together. C was so ill, he was in the other room so as not to share it with us, DD was still recovering from being ill. BLAH.
yesterday we did our (delayed) family Christmas for my family. Between my dad and my brother, they did a damn good job of ruining the day for everyone else. but we survived. Last night E was a bit all over the shop from being overtired, so it was tantrum central. ended up getting her off to bed, and finally we got to have some Christmas fun (and frustration) setting up the dolls house she got from her grandparents. she was in awe of it this morning - but has now moved all the princesses and all the furniture. the bed is in the middle of the floor (after having 8 dolls in it a few minutes ago), the dog is in the garage, the bath is in the kitchen... oh well, whatever works!! i noticed how much her imagination has gone into hyperdrive this morning, listening to her converse with the dolls as she moved them around. was very very cute!
I'm back at work tomorrow for the day. then off til next Tuesday. hopefully the next week off is better than the last one. thankfully, due to our new work agreement (which started yesterday) i get a pay rise yesterday and double time tomorrow to be at work doing my normal duties. sweet. i can handle that!
Hey lovely ladies! So great to hear everyone's Christmas stories. So sorry C was so ill, BG. Gastro is totally the worst! We had to cancel our gettogether with my brother & fam on boxing day because they all had it.
We had a great (though quite busy) day. Natalie LOVED it all, kept asking why Jesus wasn't at his birthday, lol. I am so crap at the Santa thing - we forgot to put out food for him and the reindeer! Next year.
Nat turned 5 on Tuesday - can't believe how big she is getting. Phoebe is cracking me up, starting to talk a lot more and saying cute things. We are planning to put her in a big bed (finally!) these holidays. I have the bed, just need a mattress. And I suggested we get her some undies too and she nodded and smiled - I suspect she has absolutely no idea what I was saying, lol. Although I was on the toilet at the time (of course with my audience) so maybe she did put two and two together. We'll give it a shot once we're back from a little jaunt out west to visit some friends. It's going to be so HOT out there - finally we'll experience some summer!
Had lunch with some lovely BB girls today. Would love to catch up with you lot again some time. Must make a trip to Melbs again this year :)

We are toilet training as of today, following the 3 day method, exhausted already but Bailz is doing really well. Lots of accidents but he bolts to the loo and finishes there so all on track. He's fallen asleep already, it's tiring stuff ha ha
