Thanks hunny! I know you girls are here, and it's awesome to know i have support - but i'm not going to dwell. I am trying to find the positive in each day, no matter how small - and i find it's easier to do that if i face my problems, deal with the emotions, then shelve them kwim?

Isn't the development from aged two to three just phenomenal? I have been reflecting on Baileys year and am amazed that he has gone from toddler to little boy. His speech was very limited a year ago, and now he amazes me with his conversation constantly. He was so so so excited about his party yesterday. Sean captured a few great pics of his face while everyone was singing Happy Birthday to him, he was so full of joy and happiness that I actually welled up with tears and got a bit choked up. Delightful! The cake was a big hit!

Krystie - I got some more pink for the nursery yesterday from a friend hehehehehe

We are having a lazy day today, Bailz is just playing with his new toys and we are chilling out. I've out a few of his toys away for later as he has so many :)

I'm channelling all my angsty stuff into cleaning up for E's birthday. we've rearranged a heap of stuff inside the house to set up the study properly a month or so back, and now we've done the same outside (moved pots, emptied all the temporary pots from when we moved, pruned, fed, mulched everything). i got to use the high pressure cleaner yesterday on the undercover area - didn't realise how grotty it was until i cleaned it lol. i really should be given fun gadgets for all the cleaning up - i do an awesome job! ask me to sweep and vac, i get bored - but high pressure cleaner or carpet shampoo'er - and i'm in there working my butt off! i think it's cos the cleaning is so much more obvious

oh well, more stuff to do - need to prune the hedge out the front. Not sure how we'll go - E skipped her nap yesterday after slicing her little thumb open. today she wants to skip it again. she went to sleep soooooooooooo much better last night BUT she also slept in both yesterday and this morning - tomorrow she has to be up early and i'm not sure her skipping her nap today is a good idea. but apparently she does, so suck it up Mummy...


can't wait for this gardening crap to be finished - so over having grot under my nails!

Wow, it's a little weird having a 3 year old! I can't believe how quickly they've grown!
Allira started 3yo kinder today. She's a year early, but she's right there with all of the older kids and needs the stimulation (being country bumpkins, we don't get much exposure to other children outside playgroup).
She went REALLY well. I was very impressed. She did have her brother there though, and she knows the kinder and the teachers due to having come to all of Lachie's drop off's and pick up's, so she would have been pretty comfortable in familar surroundings anyway.
She certainly doesn't seem to be the youngest there which is good. She looking forward to going back again next week.


Not much has been happening. Kids keeping me busy, I've got a bit of a knee injury/issue which has nearly had me out of action for a month (and doing my head in!!), but I'm off to Melb with a girlfriend on Friday for 2 nights away. Really looking forward to it.

I also hope that all our gorgeous little people are having wonderful 3rd birthdays. Time seems to be moving much more quickly than I would like, and yet at the same time it's amazing watching then grow and learn new things ♥

Oh, and I'm orange! Apparently I have been a life member since the last round of RAKing but it wasn't noticed that I was now a life member until just recently. How exciting to be orange. Although a nice blue or pink would be prettier, lol.

yeah blue or pink would match the colors better wouldn't it? lol

E's third bday was great fun. very wet but still lots of fun. unfortunately we all got hit with nasty cold that has now developed into flu and coughing up green stuff today - so we're off to GP this arvo to get AB's. blah! day 8 for me, 9 for E and 10 for C - and it turns bacterial! hopefully the ab's will help us shake it very quickly. i've been hit hardest, and have been the one that has been most restricted in what i can take due to still BF E!

E has the mega grumps at me - i dared to cancel swimming this morning cos she was sick! noooooooooooooooooooooooo mummy, i need to go simming!! (all said with half a voice cos she's lost most of it!)

Hi ladies.
So wonderful to see these little people growing and hear of their adventures! Phoebe came to work with me today and she was SUCH a gem. We were there for a couple of hours and she chatted with my colleagues and coloured in while I fixed up the computers. She has come out of her shell so much the last month or so. She's really very happy to talk to people now and much more confident with her speech in general. She and Natty have some wonderful conversations now.
It's been a tough month for our family. Mum has been diagnosed with Leukemia and has been having some treatment. I'm still a bit in shock from it all. Mum is such a good friend to me and to the girls, and I can't bring myself to think of anything beyond the fact that she's sick and requiring medicine. If I think of prognosis or any of that stuff I kind of freeze and panic and I can't bear it. The kids have adjusted quite well. She is on a low dose of chemo so her hair hasn't fallen out but she's exhausted and just can't play with them like she used to. But kids are amazing and they have pretty much accepted that's how things are.
Nat has been doing ok at school but she still has a few struggles. She's also excessively tired each afternoon and I'm hanging out for the holidays so she can have a few sleep-ins and a rest from school work. I can't believe how much she has learned already - it's like, OMG, she can read!
Phoebe is at such a cute age. She's communicative, cuddly, fun and funny. She's also sleeping really well which helps the fond feelings :) She seems to not have so many food issues as Nat which is a monumental relief.

I hope you guys are doing ok.
KL: Congrats on the life membership :) I am so loving your random kid shots on FB.
BG: So sorry you are all sick! I hope things improve after the drs visit.
Nay: I am coming to Adelaide soon... Might message you & see if you're free for a catch up... Unless you're in the middle of pushing out a baby, lol!

Amy - sorry to hear about your mum - i very much understand the shock and the "i don't want to think about right now" stuff. it's hard to live in the moment, but i feel like that's the only way to do it sometimes.

i don't know if it was the turning three thing, but i have also noticed E has come out of her shell heaps the past few weeks. much more talkative with people she used to hide from, very talkative, very imaginative - it's very cute (and exhausting lol)

I'm not up for persies at the moment. have recovered from the cold/flu thing after a week of ab's, but still having ongoing issues with my ears, so am off to a specialist at some point in the next couple of months. it's been bugging me, but i'm trying to shelve it. C had it confirmed yesterday that he has a large cancer on his face, so he'll have to have surgery urgently (in the next couple of weeks) to remove the tumor. he'll have a graft done at the same time. at the moment, we're just waiting to find out when. very stressful. so i can totally get how you're feeling about mum Amy!

off to bed soon for us - i'm up early tomorrow to make another mud cake - i've been asked by a 9 year old to make her cake cos e's cake was better than the one her sister got from the local Cheesecake Shop - how can i say no?

Oh Amy, I'm so sorry to hear about your Mum :( That must be really hard. Don't worry that you are not thinking ahead to the "what ifs". I'm a firm believer that there's no use worrying about something that might not happen/eventuate. Getting stressed about your Mum's prognosis isn't going to change what may or may not happen, so best to remain positive. Easier said than done... Lovely to hear that P is sleeping well though, and that N is doing well at school. It must be really tiring though. I thought that when Kyson started Montessori that after the two hours he'd be all worn out and be a little gem all afternoon. Unfortunately he's often a bit of a monster in the afternoons after little school, lol. At least he's loving little school though. Last weekend he told me he didn't want to go to bed, he wanted to go to Montessori to see Jenny and Dora (his teachers, although they call them 'directresses'). Oh and the funniest thing, they shake hands and say goodbye when they are leaving, but when I picked up Kyson on Tuesday he moved in for a smooch. Haha! I could see poor Jenny trying to move her head so he'd kiss her cheek, but he persisted until he got lips. We thought it was pretty funny (and adorable!). She mentioned that she's not really allowed that sort of contact, but what are you meant to do when a littlie is that insistent on a kiss goodbye. At least she could see that I was fine with it and it was nice to know he likes her that much and is comfortable with her :)

BG - Glad to hear the germies are on their way out, but not good to hear about your ears :( I had a lot of ear issues as a child and can remember how painful it can be! I hope it all gets sorted soon.

Have fun with the cake making! One of the kid's friends is coming over tomorrow so I might see if they want to make some cupcakes together (because obviously I need some more sugar to budge this persistent baby-weight...) ;)

Amy - ****, bugger and fark re your Mum babe, that's just the most crapolla news and I can understand your fear. I wish I knew the totally right thing to say but I don't but I am thinking of you. I know if it was my Mum I'd be devo - Mum's are our rocks so its just crazy. Be kind to yourself and if you need to rant, rave or cry, we are here! Would love to catch up if you are free (oh yeah and I'm not in the middle of birthing LOL). I start maternity leave very soon so will hopefully have a bit of a 'Lady of Leisure' thing happening for a few weeks or so (unless this young'un gatecrashes my month of rest like her brother did!!). Actually who am I kidding with the Lady of Leisure aspirations? I have a toddler!! LOL

BG, will be thinking of you guys while C has his treatment. It can't be easy to do all you need to when you're feeling so chronically ill. I think you are amazing. And how cute re the cake! That kind of affirmation is rewarding :)
KL, aww, that is SO cute that Kyson loves his teachers so much! It must be a great comfort to you. The behaviour is exactly how it is with Nat - she is so tired but it just presents itself as negativity. Honestly, I have to persuade her to do everything and nothing happens without intense negotiation! I can't remember if P was similar when she started daycare, though I guess she was much younger so it's different. I remember Mum saying how hard it was at the preschool with all the rules about contact. She said if a kid fell and there was blood they had to wear gloves to dress the wound and she said how dreadful you felt when all you wanted to do was give the kid a cuddle and put something over the graze so they could start feeling better, but you had to go to get gloves on first!
I agree that as long as you are happy with teachers cuddling your kids, what does it matter? It's something I'm grateful for at our childcare. My girls both bonded with their own particular carer (P's is Emily and she's always banging on about her, lol!) and they have a lot of physical contact with them, loads of cuddles. It's nice.
Nay, LOL re lady of leisure. You are so right! Never a lady of leisure again ;) (And aren't we grateful for it??) I will message you re catching up. Not sure what dates we'll actually be in town as yet, and I know D is going to go off in the car one day on his own. Pretty sure we'll arrive about the 28th June, and we'll be there about 5 days... I can't sleep. I am so stressed. I complain about DH enough for you to know that most of the time I just don't feel like a have a partner. He is obsessed with his work and his hobbies and we come after that on his priority list. That's harsh but tonight was a prime example - he's got to work early tomorrow so it became my responsibility to work out what needs to happen with the kids. It is worked out now but F**K I am SO angry. And he's got a trip booked in November, I have to work fulltime for a week of that. It was all going to be ok except now my mum has cancer and I don't know what the f**k I'm going to do without her.
Because she is my partner in caring for my children. And God, I miss her right now. And every time DH screws up it hits home. I do not know how to be a mum without my mum.
I'm so sorry. Just have to say it to someone who'll listen to me.

Oh no Amy, that is not good. Can't offer any words of wisdom regarding your Dh, just big hugs, and positive thoughts and prayers for your mum.

Awww Babe :( This was never going to be easy, I'm so sorry. I don't know how to help except talk it out with DH as much as possible (although these men never seem to completely get things sometimes no matter how we spell things out).
I hope and pray for your Mum, and also hope she is around for a long long time, obviously it sounds like she is a pillar in your family and especially for you so your fears and heartache is totally understandable
I just want to give you a big hug :hug:
