yeah it's a contraceptive - but because it's not fool proof, he thought he'd get one up on me by saying it had NO contraceptive in it at all

dunno if he thought i was too stupid to look it up or something - i dunno. it's definitely less effective than the common OCP, but it DOES have a contraceptive effect. there are many mini pill babies on BB though - so if you're certain you're having no more, keep an eye on natural signs of fertility (you may o before af arrives first time) and use condom back up if you're not quite sure of signs.

ETA - feeding overnight isn't 100% guaranteed - i got AF back when E was 6.5months, she's never fully stopped feeding overnight, and i've been more regular than ever in my life - including falling pregnant (unfortunately we lost it). and i have a feeling Krystie is still feeding Shayla fairly regularly

Yup, not only is Shayla still feeding 2-3 hourly 24/7, but Kyson was also feeding 4-5 times a day as well (at least!). I also never got my AF back. It was one very sneaky little egg that did a dash out of my ovary at just the right time.

Well we had the hip ultrasound on Stirling yesterday, and we have to go back next week for official results, but the guy who did the ultrasound said his hips look fine - hooray!!!

CJ in very strange mood today, first she made us leave playgroup early because she didn't want to use the toilets there (when got home she had already wee'd in her pull ups but did do a big poo - so maybe like some adults she prefers to do her number 2's at home) - then she put herself to bed before lunch (her nap is usually after). The rest of arvo was just really sucky and cuddly. At bedtime I told her to get lots of rest as she had been upset today and asked her what had been making her upset and she said "Stirling" - but couldn't tell me why - a bit of jealousy perhaps?. She also keeps talking about "Eggy" and I ask her what Eggy is and she says a friend - surely she is too little for an imaginary friend.

Yay for hips being all good on your little man! woot!

Sorry for being so whingy lately - am so over this whole bleeding "issue". Ended up in emergency on the weekend. I stopped the mini pill as mentioned the other day - was told to expect a light withdrawal bleed. ummm NOPE - light bleeding day one (thursday arvo), ave bleeding day 2 (friday) - by 4.30 saturday morning i'd started to bleed really heavily. super tampons were lasting 90 mins to 2 hours before leaking it was so heavy. after 15 hours of this, i ended up light headed and dizzy so a call to the nurse hotline and a request to attend the emergency room as it sounded like way too much. arrived at ED and was triaged and in a bed within 15 minutes. BP doing crazy things, heart doing crazy things. bloods taken, two large bore IV's in just in case, ECG, constant cardiac monitoring, blood loss was monitored (it had started to slow and was still 25ml's or more per hour). C had developed a gout flare during the day so he was in pain, i was in pain, we were both in the ED, and we had E with us (who, thankfully, was absolutely PERFECT - she observed for a while, watched them take blood, snuggled for a feed and then crashed in Craigs arms and slept in the pram the rest of the time we were there). it was just not pleasant at all. after several hours they got blood results back. i think the doctor suspected another miscarriage (even though i was quite certain i wasn't pregnant) - that came back negative and blood levels were ok. they told me to start taking the provera again - to which i said no. i'd had too many side effects, been too ill, wasn't happening. plus, as i see it - all it would do is mask the problem - it may stop the bleeding, but next time i came off it, it would potentially be worse. so they found me another drug (which a friend had suggested anyway) and started me on that - and THEN realised i'd been without anything to drink for five hours waiting for them, and i was dehydrated! offered me IV fluids, but i said it would be better to let us get E home and into bed, and now that i was allowed to drink, i'd be fine to rehydrate myself

am still feeling very weak and tired. have been making sure i drink as much as possible, taking the meds 8 hourly religiously, and just trying to do all i can to get through this. I'm now out to approx 3 hours before flooding the tampons so it's slowly improving. can't get back to gyne until wednesday so have been to GP for more drugs today.. argh OVER IT!!!



On the kidlet front - E is one amazing little princess. she just seems to KNOW when i'm feeling down. over the weekend she kept asking me to go to bed with her for "hugs mummy, in bed". she would lay, looking into my eyes, stroking my face. love her to bits!

she is a bit all over the shop with the TT at the moment. we're not pressuring her - between C and I being unwell, and her having a cold that has her feeling under the weather, i just don't want it to be in anyway overwhelming for her or to make her frightened of TT... if she asks for nappy on, it's on, if she asks for it off, we take it off. we're doing it at her pace

think it's time for me to go and lay down - C is watching a Bond movie again, and i'm bored, so i'm gonna go to bed lol. E is out with her Granma for a few hours - mum came and got her to give her soem time out and to give us a break. we didn't get home from the hospital until about 2 the other morning, so we're all exhausted

Just a quick one, BG hope you are better soon and don't worry about being on and off with E toilet training we haven't been able to be consistent with CJ due to Stirling arrival but she is still doing ok and is almost there now. They are such smart little cookies they still learn and I think the need for consistency is over played a little.

BG, I hope you are feeling better soon babe. You've really had a tough run of things lately :(

Hey all, so sorry I haven't been around much of late.
BG, I am so sorry that things are so bad. I hope the new drug works wonders and the issue gets sorted for you. So pleased E is being such a joy for you at a time when your health is so trying. She is such a gorgeous kid.

Vic: Woohoo that the u/s was clear! Yay, Stirling. I have to LOL at CJ telling everyone where to sit. Too cute! And the be careful with my hair - that is funny! It's classic the things that become habit.
Bella: Hope you are feeling well and the pg is traveling along well.
Nay: I just don't know what to say. I am so sorry for the grief you must be feeling and I hope you and Sean can find some kind of resolution. I really have no idea what it must be like to have a different vision to your partner in terms of kids, but knowing we have had our differences over the years on relatively minor things I know it must be absolutely devastating. My thoughts are with you.

We have had a glorious holiday - I am amazed at how grown up P is now. Her speech has developed a bit more and she is now completing her sentences and initiating conversations and following them through. She's a real little girl now. She loves to sing and does so constantly. I almost got bored of Old McDonald while we were away, except that she was so cute when thinking up things that were on the farm she kept it fun (eg. on that farm he had a... WATERMELON! etc etc.)
The girls shared a room which was a bit of a drama! They go to sleep so differently it made it really hard. P often stays awake longer (if she's had a sleep) and sings to herself in order to wind down. But she will happily do that on her own. Whereas Nat is used to having me with her, but the condition of that is she has to be very quiet and very still otherwise I will leave her to her own devices. As a result, she is often asleep within 15 minutes, but everything is very quiet. You can see the dilemma! It was a bit tricky. But we survived and have had two very good sleeps since we got home, lol.

just a quick one from me - D&C has been moved up to tomorrow (pending a place on the surgical list) - the gyne has decided the bleeding is excessive, has accepted that i know my body so won't push me back onto provera - so wants to get the d&c done now and start fresh.

anxiety is very high at the moment - but i guess that's to be expected.

Had a full on anxiety attack just beforehand. Felt like suck a twit but I couldn't control it! Had to be sedated. How embarrassing!! So tired but can't sleep. Snoring husband driving me bonkers. Anyone would think it was him that had GA. About to kick him out if bed I think. He can snore on the couch

Hope you are on the road to recovery BG - love E's curls - CJ also has humidity related curls but she hasn't got so much hair so they don't look as good.

Hope everyone else is well. All is good here - am after some advice though on a couple of things though:

Any smart ideas on how to get CJ to use toilet at daycare, or toilets elsewhere without us having to drag a seat around? She is basically toilet trained now but only will use public toilets if I take our seat with us (a bit impractical, I could get a folding one but would rather not) - and won't use the one at daycare (they don't have a potty just a little toilet) - she says is too big (is smaller than ours) and she is scared. The others in her room are not toilet training yet so she hasn't got anyone to copy which I think doesn't help. But if we could crack getting her to use the one at daycare would be great. (So now Stirling can use all her cloth but am finding get more leaks with him, so need to try a strip wash, and am just trying things out at the moment and using sposies to go out until I work out what works - he is a big boy already 6kg at 8 weeks which is good because means the OSFM don't look too massive).

Also she is very sensitive to Stirling crying, even if he is just whinging before a nap she is on at me to pick him up - is sweet she is so concerned but a bit of a pain at the same time? Anyone else have experience with an older one being like that - do they get over it?

After trying to pick up a cheap double buggy for ages on ebay (just to use at home as most won't go in our boot) we got one out the hard rubbish!! Is a three wheeler side by side and only just fits through the wide gate at the train station but is great for trips from home. Stirling seems to like it being next to CJ and of course she is all over him (stroking his face while he sleeps) and singing to him.

Sorry, no hints on daycare as Nat was late to TT so daycare was never the problem for us - she happily went while there and then would pee her pants all day long at home. Do you know if she is left to go to the toilet by herself or does someone go with her? Even now Nat sometimes asks for company to go to the toilet because she gets lonely! LOL! Toileting is such a community affair for youngsters, apparently. Have you asked if anyone else in the room is going to train? Is she in with any 3yos? Once they hit 3 at our CC they tend to ask parents to send the kids in undies, even if they're not in undies at home and they take them all to the toilet every couple of hours.

Nat wasn't fond of Phoebe crying from memory... she didn't tell me to pick her up though, she used to just say, "Stop it, Faybe". PMSL! Such a tender little soul! She may well get over it but maybe she's really maternal already, kwim? I find it REALLY hard to listen to babies crying, even when they're being cuddled. I feel like saying, "for heavens' sake, breastfeed that child!" lol, but I know both my girls cried a lot and there was nothing I could do but ride it out with cuddles & rocking etc. As he grows he'll cry less so she'll either get used to it or he'll slow down on it. But it'll pass for sure, that I know! (I HATE that 'advice', but I guess it's got some truth to it.)

Our main problem at the moment is the days are too jolly long. LOL! Neither of the kids sleep now (unless P wakes mega early, which she has done a couple of times these last weeks) and they are so tired come 5 o'clock that they complain constantly and are very hard to do anything with. Hence, the TV goes on and I make dinner and/or sit on the puter! But we are getting to a point where we are having such fun together during the day now. I have planned a few things, including going to the Wiggles at the Powerhouse - Thanks Nay!! You MUST come! And any others of you who feel like a trip... COME!!! Plus I have booked tickets to see Justine Clarke at the Opera House (it's a surprise!) and we will start going to the pool with the playgroup once the weather warms a bit more. It's exciting to move to the next stage as realistically I don't do babyhood terrifically well, it would seem. :)

can't believe how quiet this thread has been - i guess two year olds are rather distracting! lol

sounds like Cerys is very cute with Stirling - It's possible she is just a really empathetic kidlet - E is in love with all things baby - i think she would be very similar to CJ in asking us to help the crying baby. she is not averse to telling mum and her sister to shush in the shops if she sees a baby asleep in a pram lol She always asks why if a baby is crying, so i suspect she'd be very keen to make sure any bub was happy lol

Amy - sounds like you've got a busy time coming up with toddler-centric stuff going on!

for us - things have been really ordinary since d&c. i've had confirmation via GP that the pre-cancerous stuff is gone, which is fantastic - but it's a small yay in amongst a lot of crap. it would appear i now have chronic anaemia, and need to take iron and other supplements to try and build my iron stores again. we discovered this after me having severe gastro symptoms for a week (C and E didn't get sick, so it was just me) and demanding the GP do some investigating. i was so unwell, i couldn't sit up for long, eating was difficult... we still don't know WHY i got so sick, but suspect it was my body's reaction to the bleed/stress/GA. i am still feeling very run down and weak, but have actually managed two days in a row at work this week which is something of a novelty after 4 weeks of HELL. back to the gyne on monday for official d&c results and a forward plan.. he is keen for me to have mirena in - the whole "we're not trying to prevent a pregnancy" thing doesn't seem to be sinking in. there is a drug i'd love to try to see if it regulates my cycle but it's not one that is used for fertility stuff around here, so it's kinda not something i can ask for (i asked him to check it - he'd never heard it - so it wasn't gonna happen lol). i guess it may end up being a bit of a wait and see game to see what happens with cycle post d&c. there is still a cyst beside my ovary, and it is giving me a lot of pain, but i don't have the strength to fight for it to be investigated!

E - she is amazing. she is developing so much every single day - and i love her more with every new thing - but WOW - i think she is going through a developmental leap or something - the moodiness is doing my head in!! bright as the sun one minute, melting down over nothing the next. with the energy i don't have at the moment (lol), it's seriously draining! her vocab is coming along in leaps and bounds, she has a little boyfriend (he left Sunday night at 6, by 6.10 she'd told me he was coming for another play date on "satdee mornin"). she has grown about 6 cm since her birthday, and her hair is going into curl overdrive! she has a double crown which makes it even worse for uncontrollability! she is toilet training herself - but only on the potty - she won't sit on a toilet at all (so i'm no help for you Vic!).

i have just made some calendar pages with pics of her for at work - love them to bits. i miss her during the day when i have to leave her. i know she's happy with C, but i still miss her. They tend to go a little crazy during the day with house work stuff, and gardening,so she is tired when i get home - makes it hard to get happy quality time with her, but i love the fact they have such and awesome relationship!

and on that note, she has finally decided she wants to spend some time with me instead of him, so i'll disappear again

much love to you all - we should try and organise a Vic meetup before Christmas again (I'd love to come to Sydney, Amy, but it's not gonna happen - i have an unemployed bum for a husband lol)

Count us out for a Vic Meet up unfortunately, we are going to the Gold Coast next month for a week, and then awaiting my AF to do our first IVF cycle - we are all systems go again :)

As much as I really really want to take Bailey to Sydney for the Powerhouse Museum Wiggles Exhibition after looking into cheap flights I've decided its a no-go as I cant do it as cheaply as I hoped too (damn 2yo's paying full fare), by the time I have 2 x return flights and accomodation I'm knocking on the door of $500 and with us now planning on TTC and having to pay for IVF, every little cent is precious. We are taking a holiday though as we desperately need it. This year has been ..... tough. One of the most challenging years of my life, work and family wise and everything is finally back on track and we need this holiday like we need oxygen it seems. So we plan to go, relax and have a great time, and come back rested and ready to tackle IVF with clear heads and positive minds!

Amy when I read Vic's post about Cerys not liking Stirlings crying it reminded me of an old post of yours with Natty saying something like "Heeeeeelp her Mummy" to you when Phoebes was a newbie, teehehehehe, these older sisters, they are little Mummy's in waiting :)

BG - I am hopeful for you that things are on the up and up for you, you have been through a lot of late and I admire your strength, I'm sure there have been times when you've wondered if you had any though, hugs babe

Bailz has just come out of a 2 week funk. He was the devils child and threw about a hundred tantrums in 10 days, we were quite bewildered with the change in behaviour and were struggling to deal with it, and of course it happened right in the middle of me being sick as a dog. However I think in hindsight it seemed to be a developmental leap, growth spurt as he has returned into the dear sweet child I know and love (still throws they occassional tanty but dont they all). Hilariously though his misbehaviour started the same day the IL looked after him while Mum was overseas. I felt like they'd ruined him LOL. However I have regained my health and my smooth parental control ( :ROFL: ) and we are back to normal. Having said that Bailz excitedly threw DHs iPhone in the kitchen sink this evening (of course the sink was full of water) so DH threw his own tanty - after me calming him down and explaining that Toddlers have NO common sense and don't understand the implications of throwing a phone in the sink (other than it will be sparkly clean!!) we have a peaceful house restored (and an iPhone sitting in a container of uncooked rice in an effort to draw the moisture out)

Must dash - Packed to the Rafters has started!!! :)

Vic - I'm no help with the TT as we haven't started yet. I think we are going to start as soon as my morning sickness goes away and I have more determination, lol. As for CJ being sensitive to Stirling crying, I'm not much help there either. For the first few months Kyson rarely paid any attention to Shayla at all. He's become really affectionate now though and love to hug and kiss her, and even just hold her hand. He also does this cute thing where he makes a funny noise and jiggles her chest to try to make her laugh, lol.

Amy - Have fun seeing the Wiggles! I really wanted to take the kids and missed out on tickets. First time was because there was a restriction on the number of tickets, and then when they released more show I forgot! Grrr. I was also going to take Kyson to see Justine Clark, but it's really soon and I wasn't sure my morning sickness would be gone. Boo! Oh well, next time!

BG - You are so right! 2 year olds can be exhausting! Lol.
You've really had a rough time of things lately. I so hope that you start to feel MUCH better soon. It's hard enough being a Mummy, and working, but to be ill at the same time is just not fair.

J - Isn't the "almost walking" a rough time. Shayla is climbing up to stand now and walking around furniture (yep, she just had to do it early like her brother *roll eyes*) and you have to be there every second because she forgets she can't walk and she lets go! It's resulting in lots of bumps on the head.


We had our 12 week scan today for the baby I've just started referring to as "Baby Boo", lol!!! Everything is looking great and the risk of Trisomy 18 and 21 and super low and bub's bits and pieces were all looking perfect. Kyson was gorgeous and all day has been saying "baby in tummy on tv" hehehe. Both him and Shayla were angels in the ultrasound and even hubby was a little excited.

Oh, here's the funny thing. Hubby asked about the sex of the baby and the sonographer said he could tell with 80% certainty at this age. I said I didn't want to know, but hubby said he wanted to know. Soooo, I said they could look while I wasn't watching, and then the sonographer told hubby after I left the room. So now hubby has this BIG secret and I have to keep the determination up to not ask him. He said he won't tell me even if I ask. I have no idea what the answer was because hubby is happy either way, so him coming out with a smile told me diddly squat! Lol! He also said that either way he is going to refer to the bub as a boy so I can't tell from any "slip-ups" either. Hmmm, maybe when we discuss names again if he says yes to a name of a particular sex that I don't think he would really say yes to, maybe that's the sex it's not ;)
