Lee I absolutely recommend preparing her for the surgery as you are. Constantly talk about it. Get some books on hospital stays and operations for kids (the Royal childrens hospital has some great books and they are SUPER helpful. I would highly recommend getting in touch with them.)
Play doctors and nurses with her and her teddies. Get her to role play being the patient, and then being the doctor. If you can, have a tour of the hospital before the operation (but not too far in advance). Our hospital did this and it was fantastic. They did DS's BP and things in there and he was fine to do it all at stupid o'clock in the morning on the day of the op. He wasn't too distressed.

It's scary having your little one go in for surgery. She's in safe hands and she will be fine afterwards. Be prepared for tears for you though. When DS went in, DH went to the theatre with him while they put him under and it was a little bit traumatising for hubby (there was no WAY I would have coped), but he was ok. DS was upset in recovery for a few minutes but ok after that.

Hi everyone! Not much to report here. Allira is going to 3yo kinder this year, starting next term. She's a year ahead of herself, so she'll do it again next year, but it will be fantastic for her. She's currently going to childcare one day a week and struggling with the seperation on arrival, but she's getting better. She misses out on being in 4yo kinder next year by 13 days, and she's so totally ready to go, but she'll be right. Will be good for her.

Everything's going well other than that. I'm still training lots as people on FB can see, and very busy with all the committees I'm on etc, but life's pretty good.

Nay congrats on your bundle of pink!! That's very exciting (I know you would have been thrilled either way ;) ).

Hope everyone is well! Can't believe they'll be 3 this year!

Hello everyone else!!!

We're traveling well here. Nat's really enjoying school, which is such a relief. We've not had any issues with her not wanting to go, although she does bring on the mummy guilt when I have to go to work and she complains she would like me to take her to school :(
I am enjoying my couple of days a week with Phoebe. She is a real introvert though unlike Nat, and very happy to amuse herself for extended periods of time (until she gets hungry. My word, this child EATS.) After a rough start to the year at CC (illnesses, separation anxiety, the whole bit) she has finally seemed to settle in again and this afternoon didn't want to leave.
I am struggling a bit with fitting in everything: school days are not very long and the drop offs and pick ups, coupled with the class playdates and info sessions for parents make life so freaking hectic. I haven't made it to everything and of course feel like 7 kinds of crap for it. Plus it's hard to break into the school mum crowd when you work - I have only met a handful of people and they're not chatty with me at all - the most I get are friendly smiles when I try to initiate conversation... it's like they're frightened if they talk to me I'll invite myself around every afternoon for a BBQ or something.
LOL @ the genitalia discussions - we haven't had that here because DH usually showers well after the girls are in bed so they probably have absolutely no idea that penises even exist.
The girls play together fairly well now, although there are frequent rows and I suspect they are going to be quite a lot like my sister and I were. (One minute great mates, the next psycho-biatch-ville.) The nice moments are just SO nice though.

Ahhh Amy - isn't life a never-ending game of getting to know the newest crowd - hope the school Mums realise how fab you are very soon. Cant believe Natty is already at school, far out the last few years have flown by. Bailz eats us out of house and home too - I constantly find him in the pantry and he eats massive meals for a toddler - mind you he uses a LOT of energy, he is always doing something, maybe trampoline bouncing is a great calorie burner LOL. Yay on being RAK'd, you totally deserve it!

BG - not many people picked girl, even we were convinced of another blue bundle - Bailey was right all along :) I thought I'd keep it a secret a little longer than you. Hope the poppets surgery goes off without a hitch, and hugs to her beautiful Mummy to get her through xx

Nicky - Bailz just scrapes in by 8 days to start school in 2014 at the beginning of 2014. I would have preferred the current system which would have meant a start mid year 2014 after he'd turned 5 but if with the changes if we hold him back we have to hold him back a whole year which isn't ideal. I am hoping that as he is used to long day care this will help his adjustment. We'll just have to play it by ear and see how he goes. Being that its 2 years away I wont get my knickers in a knot about it just yet :rofl:

Well our morph scan was great, got a perfect little baby girl growing away happily in there as you all would have seen on FB, my placenta is anterior so I am blaming that for popping out so quickly :) When the sonographer told us she was a little girl I burst into tears (happy ones). As this is our last baby its so nice to have one of each. We were both very happy to have another boy, but I am sure I would have always wondered what a daughter would have been like - now we'll know. The sonographer checked about 5 times, she did say that there are no guarantees until we check between babies legs at birth, but she kept seeing girl from every angle she checked! So I'll be indulging in some pink shopping now :) I think its starting to sink in now :) We were talking about keeping it a secret, but well, I'm hopeless as you know!

Anyhoo, hope everyone else is doing well

Now a question for the Mummy's with little boys... Have any of your little boys ever had blood come from their penis? About 3-4 days ago I noticed a tiny red smudge in DS's nappy when I took it off. It was so small we weren't even sure if it really was blood, and there was nothing on his penis. He hadn't complained of pain or been touching his penis or anything, so we just left it. Now tonight when DH took off his nappy there was another little blood spot in the nappy and his penis had some blood coming from inside. DH wiped it and it didn't worry DS at all, but then a little more blood came. I'm not even sure if it's coming from inside or from just under the foreskin. We're going to try to get him into the doctors tomorrow and I'm hoping it's just from a small cut or something just on the head. I'm glad he's not bothered by it at all though.

No he hasn't been touching himself there at all. He's still in nappies so doesn't really have access. We have a doctors appointment at 4.30pm today, but DH said that everything looked ok when he changed his nappy this morning.

Well all is fine with Kyson :) He was an angel at the appointment (which was my first outing with all three bubs by myself). We had been preparing him all morning and letting him know what was going to happen at the doctors, and he was fantastic. He even had a little giggle when the dr was looking at him. Not sure if it was a nervous sort of giggle, or a "that feels interesting" kind of giggle lol. Everything looked fine and we couldn't even see where the blood had come from. Possibly a small cut that had already healed, or possibly from just inside the penis where we couldn't see. Doctor wasn't worried at all though.

Here's what surprised me though. I had read that you shouldn't pull back the foreskin on a little boys penis for quite some time. Something I read recently said that sometimes the foreskin stays attached until somewhere between 3 and 12 years of age. The doctor pulled it back gently though and said that we should start teaching Kyson to do that in the shower/bath and just let water run over it. There was still some attachment on one side though so he'd have to still be careful not to pull to hard. I kind of feel bad now because we haven't been cleaning there properly...

Interesting about the foreskin - I had heard the same as you, and thought they would need to be a bit older to be able to understand about cleaning and being gentle etc.

Looking at Bailey's I think he had played with his so much that the foreskin is no longer attached, I swear that's why he was so happy to toilet train so quick - easy access to his willy! He thinks he is one of those puppetry of the penis men ha ha

I can't believe have had a couple of birthdays already - Bailey and Ivy! Soon CJ will be three - we will be in Darwin for her birthday so no parties from me again (hooray) but I am learning balloon twisting so I can do something nice for her on the day. One day she will ask for a party and I will have to do one. At MG three are born over three days so we end up with party overdose anyway so I a figure I am doing the other mums a favor by not having one right :-)

Mum is over at moment which is great as Stirling has had a couple of weeks of atrocious sleeping, and she has brought her IPAD with her so I don't have to share the PC with her (DH has his own :-) currently we are watching rugby league me on mine, him on his and mum asleep in the middle.

Lots and nothing happening here - E got the all clear today from her surgery, so life should go back to normal. i'm off for more investigation and possibly need surgery for a cyst beside my ovary, which i can feel all the time (there is like a constant pressure from it) - oh well - can't possibly expect things to go normally for us! i'm not sure if the cyst may be a factor in miscarrying - it's been there since before E (i remember it being there for one of the scans) - beginning to wonder if maybe that is part of it - and that E was a bit of an abnormal thing for my body

anyway - i could waffle about my woes lots, but i'd rather not dwell and drag everyone down so i'll say goodnight instead!

Well Birthday Party Central here, We have Bailey's Birthday party tomorrow and I've just finished his cake - yay! He is gonna love it, it's Lightening McQueen :) Vic, when you finally have to do a party, invite me over and my party planner alter ego will do it all for you hahahahahaha

Cant believe our little crew are turning three! Crazy! I can't believe how quickly time has flown these past 3 years (and I cant believe I am about to do it all over again!! I must be balmy!)

Hello early May baby Mummas!

Vic - Your balloon creations look amazing! What an interesting hobby to have! I've suddenly found an interest in making clothes for Shayla and am halfway through my second skirt. I learnt a lot from the first one, so I'm looking forward to seeing how this one turns out. I have material for another skirt and a dress as well hehe. Once I master a few things I might try something for Arlia, but I think it will be harder because things will be much smaller, lol. I haven't got any ideas yet for Kyson though because my clothing taste for him isn't the sort of stuff that I could make. Pumpkin Patch is liking me at the moment because I am loving their boys winter range lol!

BG - Awesome news that E has gotten the all clear from the docs. She's such a little trooper. I loved the video of her jumping on the trampoline. She looked like she was in heaven hehe.
Sorry to hear about you possibly needing surgery. You definitely got the raw end of the deal when it came to your health. Surely you've got to get a break soon!!

Nay - Love the cake! Bailey is going to love it so much. Oh, and with the nursery competition, well I'm still not sure whether I'm going to do the re-vamp yet. I'd love to, but I think the design I want is going to look better once both girls are a bit older and sharing a room in the room Kyson is currently in. Maybe I'll just take some pics of the nursery the way it is to show you girls :)


Three three three. Now how on earth has that happened?! This growng up business is happening way too fast. Although I must admit that if turning three stops the throwing stage, and the pushing your sister stage, then I'm all for it, lol!!

Kyson is having a gymnastics party this year. We have hired entertainers through a company that do all the gymnastics activities with the kids and for this age group they also do some puppet stuff and we'll have a face painter as well. I was going to hire a local hall rather than do it at home, but after about 6 weeks of drama I gave up and we are having it here. The party is going to have a jungle (as in jungle gym) theme so I just bought a bunch of jungle themed stuff from a business on facebook to do all the decorating and stuff. Of course I'm sure I'm going overboard again. This time I'mnotmaking the cake though. I figure I won't have the time. So I'm designing a picture for the top of a cake and getting it made through Ferguson Plarre. That means I'm only half cheating ;)

Ok, better sleep now. Arlia is sleeping so I really should be too hehe.

Thanks hunny! I know you girls are here, and it's awesome to know i have support - but i'm not going to dwell. I am trying to find the positive in each day, no matter how small - and i find it's easier to do that if i face my problems, deal with the emotions, then shelve them kwim?

E seems to be developing new personality traits every day - or maybe i'm noticing them more because i've had a bit of time off with her the last month (where i haven't been too sick to notice lol) - she amazes me all the time. ALL the time. She makes me smile all the time, and laughter is a frequent visitor here now. even when i'm feeling down and miserable, she can cheer me up, just by being her wonderful little self. How do you NOT smile when you're feeling like hell and a little girl asks her daddy to get you a cloth for your head, then lays beside you, puts the cloth on your head, strokes your hair and says "you're ok mummy, you'll be ok. you feel better now? getting there? i loooooove you" and then just snuggles in. I feel horrible that she has been in a position to have to look after me like that, but so very proud that she is a little person that CAN do it.

She is so excited this morning - we're going out to finish (i hope!) the clean up outside for her birthday party. well all the rearranging we can do anyway! we have an undercover area the size of a single carport, so not that big, but better than nothing. C had it set up so that pot plants made almost a wall around it, on the concrete - reducing the size of the "room" - so we have moved stuff around a bit to open it out more. mostly because our little imp took off running one day last week, misjudged the edge of the pot, and ran into it - leaving a very big bruise on her knee. so we've rearranged to make it more open and (hopefully) less likely to leave wounds on the poppet. we had some pavers so we extended the undercover area around two of the water features (and the table) to put the pots there. hard to explain, but it's looking really good. except for the stains on the concrete from the pots being there - and under the bbq - so today, i'm gonna have me some fun with the high pressure washer! lol

yes, i'm a sad sack - i like playing with water - and high pressure water is fun! i'm sure there will be messages written with high pressure water before it gets properly cleaned lol
