Yeah she had the tongue tie cut at the hospital. I saw the LC last week and I know what I am supposed to do, but can't always make it happen. It is more difficult late evening and overnight. This morning was easier. I guess supply being better in the am would help with that. She just doesn't seem to open her mouth wide enough. LC did suggest that her jaw may be a bit tight and we should consider an osteo.

Well we just had our immunisation shots this am. I think mummy definately struggled more than bubby. She screamed for 20 seconds then fell asleep, mummy is a bit traumatised and not looking forward to the next lot.
Home now, having snuggles on the couch, while it's all miserable and rainy. Not a bad way to spend the afternoon. It's helping me get over this mornings events at least.

Hugs shanleem! It is a terrible thing isn't it. I hate it each and every time. I couldn't get an appointment till next week, so we are going on Monday. Not looking forward to it, but at least it will get done with hubby there to help me with the other kids.

Oh I'm dreading them Shanleem poor bubbys. Hope she's ok now. Forgot to ask you Shanleem how often is A feeding now? Just wondering as she's same age as Ad and we're doing same feeding routine. .

Re: Babies born ~ May 2014

A is doing ok now, we haven't had to resort to baby Panadol or anything yet, so I think we've made it through this lot of shots relatively unscathed.

As for feeding I start each day with a feed at 7am or there abouts and usually end up feeding every 3-4 hours. I usually end up giving 6-8 feeds a day, depending on how many times she wakes during the night. I aim for 7am, 10am, 2pm, 5pm and 9pm then whenever she wakes during the night. Each feed is bfeed both sides 10mins each followed by up to 100ml of aptamil formula, most feeds she's taking about 70ml formula but on occasions more and others less, but fairly consistently around the 70ml mark.

How are you feeling in terms of your supply. I've been waking up the last two mornings feeling really full. Even thought I might have to express a little so that A could get a good latch. I'm keeping everything crossed that the meds are finally working.

Sounds good Shanleem that's a great sign fingers crossed for you.

I was able to just bfeed the night feed last night at 3am and Ad settled after without the formula! Hoping it's not a one off! Hoping gradually I can wean out another feed soon. Think meds might be working too I'm doing 8 feeds but an ABA counseller told me yesterday to cut down on formula a bit, therefore making him bit hungrier and fitting in another 2-3 feeds at least

Re: Babies born ~ May 2014

Yay that's awesome. I'm giving A an exclusive bfeed at 7am which she settles after, and hope to extend that to another one too, I might try the 5pm feed next.

I hate the situation we're both in but very grateful to be able to share the challenges with someone else. It makes it a little easier to handle knowing someone else is going through the same thing.

Yeah same as Shanleem. Good to have support in this situation. I feel a bit cheated, I really wanted to breastfeed! But hey, we're doing all we can! My best friend thinks we're great, she said bfeeding is tough enough without the challenge of relactation! She reckons alot of people would have just gone down the formula road including her! I'm just grateful I can give him some milk

Re: Babies born ~ May 2014

You poor ladies. I feel extremely lucky that I have had no trouble breast feeding at all. Could be because she has such a big mouth!
I haven't had alerts that anything has been happening in here for ages. I thought I'd just check in and wow - a lot has happened. Welcome myturn! So happy you finally have your bub. I know it's been a long journey.
Well I was back in theatre again Wednesday as had another infection. Dr pretty happy he finally has all my placenta out so fingers crossed once I finish this round of antibiotics that's it. Poor Miss M has woken snotty this morning. It's hard to see them sick

    Thanks beau x

Bfing really is a lot harder than I imagined. I am thankful we only had one week of topping up. It drive me bananas and I tony think I could have continued when DH was at work.

She seems pretty unsettled after a feed at the moment though. Also her belly button is still bleeding.., is that normal?? She's 3 weeks as of yesterday. It's not pussy or anything. But she's getting dry blood on her singlets.

Yes, the belly button bleeding is normal. 'A' had it for a week or two after the stumpy bit came off. Just keep it clean and don't worry about it, it's fine.

    Thanks black rose

We have a goopy eye over here but otherwise going well. BFing is going sooooooo much better. Milk is pouring out of me once it gets started. Ive stopped the extra pumping on most days cause I'll have milk, coming out of my ears in the freezer if I'm not careful.

Started using my MCNs yesterday. Reckon we will manage. Just ordered a few more online so we have enough for a couple of days in between washes. Also used my ring sling for the first time whole out in the shops yesterday and while doing a few chores at home this week. It was great to have both hands free thinking I might need a couple of different options of slings though. Not sure which ones are good for what purposes. Anyone have an opinion?

    It's so quiet in here!
    Everyone come back!

A is 10 weeks old and it's safe to say she has absolutely everyone wrapped around her little finger!

She's all smiles and we are getting the odd giggle here and there.. But she really makes you work for them!

    How is everyone doing?
