LOL really that is crazy she is that aware!
Lolpigs I think it depends on the babies temperament and their current mood. I wish Jess would take 10 mins. She actually gets scared if she opens her eyes and realizes I've gone. She has a special cry for it that sounds so scary. DS never did that. She is very aware of her surroundings. She wakes up if I put her down in another room from where she fell asleep too and same scared cry!
LOL really that is crazy she is that aware!
I know. I thought I was dreaming it the first time but it's happened so many times now. I think I have to settle her in her bassinet instead of in my arms as it doesn't work. Plus she fights sleep. Not a good combo lol.
Hmmm, there may be some truth in it - if I try to put Alex down when he's only just dozed off he'll wake up, if I leave him cuddled on my chest till he's in a deep sleep he'll stay asleep. Otherwise I'll see if he'll go down still awake and go to sleep in his cradle.
Today has been a bit odd - Alex has done nothing but catnap all day, lucky to sleep more than an hour at a stretch. Not sure if it's because it's been a bit of a warm day or if it's just because he's going through a growth spurt or something. Hope he sleeps properly tonight though.
CK Abby has done that a few times normally when DH has been at work, makes for a very tiring day.
Lolpigs thats pretty true for Abby most of the time.
Jan - Jessica sounds so similar to DS2, it does get better. I used to have to lay down with him for him to sleep during the day and feed him to sleep. The little bugger would even wake after I pried my boob out of his mouth after an hour, I know he was using me as a dummy but he refused to take a dummy.
I talked to hubby, I said i didnt want to go on any pills, he was very happy lol (I went loopy last time). Happy to use condom but not fail safe. Don't want implant. Going to ask about depo shot and Merina (sp) implant. Have to find out what sort of drugs are in it. I would like 3-5 years between kids (if we have another).
We had the how many babies subject yesterday. I said 1 but I know he wants 2. He said 1 is more than he ever thought he would get but he would like 2. If we had 2 we would have to move house, that he's not keen on lol.
Levi and I have his night time routine down to 30-40 mins provided there is no pesky wind. Feed, burp and I pat him until he is almost asleep. Put him in his cot, pat him for a fee minutes, offer dummy if he wont settle and leave even if he's not sleeping. He will normally talk to himself for a while, we go back in if he gets frustrated or looses the dummy. Then it goes quiet, he's fallen asleep. It only works at night though, during the day he power naps on and off.
Depo, Implanon and Mirena as well I think from memory are all very similar - they're progesterone only, same as the mini pill. It's just the delivery method that varies. I have trouble with combined pills, I don't go loopy I get violently aggressive. Haven't touched them since I was 19 and realised what was making me want to punch people's lights out half the time. The mini pill I typically don't keep regular enough hours to use effectively as it has to be taken at the same time every day.
Lolpigs your a champviolet normally doesn't sleep for more than like, five or ten minute cat naps during the day, so today I let her fall asleep in my arms, waited the ten minutes, then transferred her to the bassinet and she sayed asleep for 2 hours so I GOT TO HAVE A NAP!!!!!! Woooo!!!!!!

first time in ages!!!!!!!! Very happy
thank you!!!! And it drives me crazy at night when I put her in her bassinet, then go back to bed, only to hear her waking back up again! So I'll wait 10 mi s each time now!
I don't want to go back on the pill either, I'm going to try condoms but yeah a little nervous about the small chance of them not working, mainly cos I think you have to be back at work for a full year before going back on maternity leave! Not too much of an issue for me yet as I'm still a bit too sore to be doing anything requiring contraception!!!
Danni, hehehe yeah buy the fluro ones as a joke present hhsheh
Jan, how hard on you having Jess get scared when she realizes your not there with her / she's in another room... Aww. She must be very perceptive! It must be really upsetting for you hearing her scared cry.. If there is an upside to the situation, then at least you know she is crazy about you! Hope it gets better!

Blegh Lilly has been cluster feeding all after noon and only cat napping for 30mins a time, and refuses to go down for a sleep. Sigh makes me so tired!

Lolpigs, could it be a growth spurt?
Levi has been so out of sorts all day, it is slowly getting hotter here.
Yeah possible, I got an hour and a half break after I went for a walk with her in the carrier but that was it, least she gave me sometime to make more milk.
Fingers crossed her top up feed after her bath puts her to sleep I need a rest!
Just a real quick one- my friend told me this awesome remedy to get more milk (I was telling her I was worried violet wasn't getting enough cos she seems to keep cluster feeding like you just mentioned, lolpigs! Anyway she said buy fenugreek seeds (normally at supermarket) and boil for 10 mins in a cup of water and drink it like tea (can put a tea bag or sugar to give it better flavour) she said it helped her heaps!!
Yeah already tried the tablets and the tea, haven't noticed much improvement.Hope they work for you though.
I am on the motilium too.
Well after 8 hours of cluster feeding had to give her bottle, she just was not settling. Totally ravenous she was. Took 100ml O.o At times during the afternoon she slept so much have been enough then but not now. Fingers crossed my body responds.

Oh 100ml!! Wow it must be a growth spurt!! Yeah I haven't tried the weleda tea yet, but a different friend tried the seeds as a tea and it seemed to work well! And cheaper than buying the actual tea! The actual tea might be made from those seeds already though, not sure! Violet won't settle either, just fed for ages, vomited heaps then got all frustrated while trying to feed more and ended up crying for no reason... DH is trying to settle her now!
Definitely thinking growth spurt - Alex was really unsettled yesterday, not too bad today but had been feeding lots over the last few days. He's getting so long, I haven't measured his length recently but just looking at how much of his cradle he takes up now I can see he's grown heaps. Hang in there Lolpigs, she'll go nuts for a few days until your body responds, but it shouldn't take more than a few days.
Had a massive meltdown from DD tonight - she's been increasingly difficult for a while now, not really related to Penguin's arrival though. Turns out she's very anxious about something happening to me, DH or her dad. She also believes that the disappearance of her cat a few years ago was her fault and that she's stupid. Really not sure how to handle it, thinking about organising some counselling for her.
Aww Ck that's so hard! Poor her, I remember having the same meltdown with my mum when I was little, worrying that something might happen to her or dad... It must be something all children worry about at some point when it dawns on them about all that kind of stuff.. I reckon councelling would be a good idea cos its do hard to know what to say to them?! In the meantime you could maybe google it and see if there's any decent advice out there on how to deal with that type of conversation? Or there might be some good books around too about how to tackle it? As for thinking she's stupid, is it anything in particular she feels like she struggles with, like at school or something? Hope things get better! Must be hard when children start worrying about stuff!
Thanks, I hope it does. Just had the morning feed after her sleeping from 11:30 until 6am today after that comp feed. Shes back asleep now. Hopefully it will settle down again, this started on wednesday and peaked yesturday so hoping it settles again. I have christmas lunch with the family tomorrow so I hope I won't be stuck in the corner all afternoon.
S
I'm still struggling with the logistics of going out with bubs and orgainising her feeds and things around it. We have a Dr's appt at 10:30 and the Dr is about 30mins away. Should I wake her at 9 and feed her then so she is fed before we go? Or should I wait till we get there? I always seem to get it wrong and bubs is crying in the back seat and I get upset :\
Edit: hmm she was hot and woke up and now won't settle
