Yeah thats what I'm thinking Ck, It is a Bassinette from Sleepy spaces, and she is almost the same length as it now. I think perhaps she dosent like the closed in feeling now from teh bassinette? As she settled all night in her Cot now waking about every 2.5 to 3 hours. She looks so tiny in it however! :lol:
I'm meant to be getting a sleep in as I've just fed Levi and hubby has taken him for a while but I'm laying here listening to hubby and Levi having a chat, to cute.
Levi has never had his arms/hands wrapped, he hates it. My brother could never be wrapped, mum said he prefered to starfish lol.
My sister in law puts liquid cooking gliserine (sp) on dummies to encourage her boys to take them. Only problem is she uses it all the time, excessivly. You only need a dash and do it a few times then every second, then third etc. You will also need to find the shape she prefers. Levi loves the Tommy tippy cherry ones (round heads). My friends girl would only take the Nuk orthopedic ones (slanted).
It's meant to be 30 today and climbing all week until it hits the 40s. Levi's going to hate it.
They do look tiny in their cots at first - I didn't use a bassinet or cradle for DD, she went straight into the cot from day 1, and my goodness she was teeny! Especially considering she was a fair bit smaller than Alex at birth and didn't grow nearly as quick to begin with. I nearly fell over backwards when one of BIL's rellies tried to guess his age at about 4 or 5 months!
Alex never liked being wrapped, always wanted his hands free. The midwives would come in and wrap him, he'd complain and wriggle till either we freed his hands or he escaped. I tried wrapping him once or twice once we got home, but pretty soon gave it up for a bad joke. And yes, he's a starfish sleeper. A very wriggly starfish at times as well. I'd say if she sleeps without it, don't bother - one less step to worry about :)
I wrap Levi's legs and body, otherwise he kicks his blankets off too. I have brought some sleeping bags to try him in. I put him in it last night but he wasnt settled so I wrapped him again. I'll try putting him in them for day sleeps first.
I don't wrap Abby either, I just dress her in long onsies of a night or dress accordingly. I find that easy here cos we got aircons going 24/7 hear as the temp outside is averaging around 45 most days. We do venture outside late arvo to take a dip in the pool though.
Lolpigs how much are you topping up after feeding Lilly 120mls?
At the moment every second feed is Formula rather than topping up. Easier on her, and saves all the bottles. When she has a BM feed she takes it all and then she is pretty much full. She has her piggie times if she sleeps through a feed where she will take 190ml, but generally only takes 110-130ml.
So for her age she is taking about 900ml a day, so half that approx is BM. Doing well I think. She just did a dirty nappy and the Goat's milk must be helping because there was straining, but not screaming no pain no nothing! Fingers crossed the imrpvoement keeps happening. We are up to 2 scoops of the new formula a feed now.
Also starting on the Tommee Tippiee bottles as she seems to want a faster flow than the pigeon is allowing her. She seemed to cope well with it last feed and had less gas so we shall see how we go.
We are trying today day sleeps in swing and night sleeps in Cot. Also doing a play on the mat after each feed, so far seems to be working. Fingers Crossed!
CK, luckily the MIL has gone now, so i didnt end up having a discussion with her, but when she is down next / calls i think ill get DH and i do maybe have a casual chat to just say that I would prefer to try things my own way etc and that we will ask for her advice if / when we would like it.. i happy for her to offer advice, its just the condescending way she does it, and the way she puts down what i am doing as though im not a good mum. Im also happy for her to cuddle Violet etc, but theres a time and a place - she kept taking her from me when she was fast asleep in my arms etc, and not asking if she could, she just came and did it.. it drove me mad!!!
Danni, yes she was defintely a piece of work before Violet too! The first time she met me she made some comment about me being a bit of a princess which i am NOT and she has always made comments about me not looking after DH properly etc cos im vegetarian and she doesnt think thats healthy etc etc.. she puts me down cos i swear she doesnt like no longer being the main woman in her sons life.. i think there are a few MILS out there that think that way and unfortunately act upon it to make us feel yuck!!! So interesting about Abby not settling at those people's place who tried to tell you she had gas and wasnt hungry...er, hello, how would they know, shes your baby not theirs! Ohh people and their opinions hey!!
AM, i have slow flow issues sometimes towards the end of a feed and it sends VIolet into a bit of a frustrated panicky state, she gets real upset, thrashes around, scratches me etc, i always feel terrible... i googled it and your meant to be able to do things to make it faster like massage that side while they drink but it never helped for me! The only thing i can think of is when it gets to that point, to take them off, express the rest and feed it to them, but i havent tried that yet..
Lolpigs, is the shirt in the bassinet still working to help settle bubs? I might try that cos its hardto get Violet to settle in her bassinet too!
Nikky, ummmmm Zoe sounds like she sleeps like a champ!!!! Im lucky if Violet will sleep 3 hours at a time! Needless to say, im rather tired...!

Yes seems to make her more settled in the cot to be able to smell me. She hates the bassinette now though so we aren't trying it again.

Sorry girls for my short posts been on my iPhone only as the main computer is broken at the moment. Bad timing being Xmas and all trying to get it fixed.
Wow lolpigs she's taking heaps. It's vary rare Abby will finish the full 150mls made up for her and the amount she slops out the side is astronomical. Abby copes better with a slow flow I think, I have her on the tommee tippee bottles with a number 1 teat but so much milk still spews out the side of her mouth.
That's great she isn't crying in pain when doing a poop now, Nan I found did that to DS2 as well.
Ok so I still got milk to the point it will quirt out, so I just gave Abby a breastfeed and gave her a top up afterwards and she only took about 80-90mls of the formula. I don't want to confuse her at all, what to do??
I know such a guts! :) Try the pigeon bottles if you can Dan they have been good for DD if she likes slow flow. I have one I just ordered and don't need if you want to buy it to try them out.
You could do what I do and pump all the feeds and give via bottle to stop confusion?
Pigeon bottles are great, Jess handles it much better than the tommee tippee.
Feeling down in the dumps today. Jess has been up all day, only 3 hours sleep last night. Finding it hard managing the house and DS. I can't believe she can cope on such little sleep and I find it harder than her!
On my phone so will check out the pics tonight.
She cries when put down, any tips on how to get the basics done ( like going to the toilet!). I have a baby bjorn but it hurts after an hour or two. She won't go in a swing because of her reflux and only stays in a bouncer chair for 15 mins top.
:hug: Sometimes when I'm all alone and I need to go to the bathroom, I put DD down somewhere safe and just go. I am never long but sometimes she just has to wait.. awful arent I? ;S:
Aww Jan just want to off a hug! It's so hard when you got a reflux, clingy baby. I find the Ergo good and I noticed yesterday while she was in it that she fits so much better now and even does this thing where she pokes her head up and looks about - so funny to look at she reminds me of a meekat LOL.
Heheh, Alex does that in his ergo too :) The ergo is very comfy to wear, I managed several full day christmas shopping trips with the ergo, the only catch is the newborn insert is quite hot - maybe look at the manduca? They spread the weight on the hips rather than your shoulders so doesn't get as tiring.
Spoke with the ABA today and they gave me some good advice. They want me to get Abby checked to make sure there is no tongue etc. She also reckon Fenugreek is worth having as well so I'll have toying that one down. Still got Motillium in the house so I'm popping some of them and I'm booked into the docs next Tuesday for my 6 week checkup so I can go through some stuff with them then. Also ordered a baby and toddler recipe book, been looking for one for ages.
Busy day today, went to ikea spent too much money and then put Alex's cot together so he can start having daysleeps in his own room because it's cooler. And having a petty little woe is me moment because my period is back. Already. Which would maybe explain why Alex has been a little fussy while feeding lately, as I've heard it changes the taste a bit.

CK ahhh that is crapola... So much for forgetting about periods while breastfeeding. Guess I was lucky with DS2 I managed to evade AF for 12 months.
