Lolpigs my best advice would be try not to analyze everything, I did this with DS2 and it drove me batty. I got to the point with him that I was doing my housework of a night after 10pm cos he just literally screamed the house down all day long and was so unsettling all day everyday. Another thing is that they say that colic/reflux peeks in babies around the 6-8 week mark but usually settles around 12 weeks. Sorry I'm probably not a huge help but I found soon as I chilled and let him lead me that it all improved. Abby has some days that she is a bit unsettled but it's normally a little in the arvo and she has two brothers to keep her entertained - poor thing LOL. Actually while I'm typing this they are dancing around for her..
Nikky what swing have you got?
I'm getting a friend to do some photo's up of Abby and the kids. She has just started doing professional photo's
I'm with Danni on this one Lolpigs - babies change their patterns all the time, try to relax and go with her lead if you can.
Alex is growing out of all his clothes, but isn't quite big enough for the next size up yet...his 000 bonds suit is too short, but his 00 stuff still swims on him - looks so funny
Thanks Mollie, not really she had fitful sleep from 8 - 11 then I put her to bed, then she woke at 2am fed and went to sleep, woke with bad gas back to bed then fed at 6, then fitful sleep from 6:30- 9 and then I had her in the sling until 10:45 and I could put her back to bed again. She stayed there until 11:30.
I don't think any sleep anything will help till her Colic goes away, we do try each sleep to pat her and pop her down drowsy it either works or it dosent. Definatley does not work if she has had a bout or is about to have a bout of it. Mostly occurs either before or after a BM funnily enough.
Now I've noticed most of you say the last feed is 10pm. How do you do this? My bub has her last feed around 7pm then has a bath and on a good day is in bed by 8pm, waking around 2am. Although these last few days have been pretty bad and shes been all over the place. Should I try a dream feed at 10pm and how do I do it with a bottle? I'm trying to get her to stay in bed till around 4:30 she was for awhile but since the Colic has started up again its interupting her sleep alot.
Thanks for the support guys, it is hard when she is so super unsettled. It isn't her fault mostly her poor tummy gives her so much greif! Feels very much like i am doing somethig wrong

Had our GP appt yesterday and violet is now 6.45kg!! That's way above the highest percentile hahhaha! Chub! GP didn't seem to really know what she was doing though cos she told me
It's not the norm to get the whooping cough vaccine as parents, yet I was sure it was something your meant to do?! She also told me to use betadine on a weird little skin infection she has (like a scratch thing on her tummy but it's not a scratch) that she has had since birth but I checked the betadine leaflet and it says don't use if under 6 months old!?
Wow I find it amazing how some babies sleep through the night! Violet sleeps a max of 4 hrs mainly at the start of the night (did have one time when it was 5) and then about 2-3 hours after that, with 1-1.5 hours to feed and settle!
AM- trying your advice with propping bubs up on one side to sleep so the head can't lay on the flat side! It works well to keep her head the right way which is awesome! Hoping it evens out soon!
Nikky- glad Zoe is okay after the performance the other night!!
Lolpigs- sorry to hear about the colic... Hope today / tonight is better!!
Mollie- Is it amazing to be home in your normal bed?! Yay for aubrees awesome sleep!
Danni- how'd you go with the shopping yesterday with three kids?!
I have no idea how we got the last feed as 10pm sometimes it varies though and the last feed can be 11-11:30.. Thats just want she does. Aubree feeds every 3-ish hours during the day and then at about 5pm she likes to cluster feed - which makes getting dinner organized a pain, but thats just what she likes to do.. You and Lilly will get into a stride that suits you guys, but like Danni and CK said, just relax and go with the flow.. and YOU ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING WRONG!!!!
Aubree has been unsettled this morning - She woke up at around 8:45 had a feed (didnt go back to sleep) fed again at 12 and she has only just gone down to sleep now.. So as you can imagine getting washing an unpacking done pretty difficult. DH heads back to work tomorrow so hopefully we will be able to get back into the swing of things.
Being home is great! I am so much more relaxed at home!
WOO Gooooooo Mumma!! You are doing a great job with Violet!! Im looking forward to having our developmental check up on wednesday - I wonder how much my little bubba will weigh in at!
Is there another doc you can see Amanda to get a second opinion about the scratch thats not a scratch????
Lolpigs- I feed violet at about 10 only cos she doesn't sleep for long, so if I were to put her to bed at 8ish she would be waking for a feed just after I'd gone to bed myself! So we just have her up with us while watching tv etc, give her a bath around 9/10 and then feed her and put her to bed! Your not doing anything wrong hun, you sound like such a caring mum, sounds to me like your doing everything you possibly can!
Haha mollie we did it again!!! Ha yeah I might try get another doctors opinion! The nurse that came 2 weeks after birth said it looked like a birth mark but it's not cos it gets redder sometimes and sorta looks like inflamed pores to me.. Weird!!
Ooh yay for Wednesday! It's so fun to find out how they're growing etc! Hope it goes well! Glad to hear your home and relaxed now- must be the biggest relief!
Lol don't feel like it is your fault. Colic/reflux babies are difficult by nature as they are in pain. Jessica usually only sleeps about two hours in total during the day. I've given up on trying to settle her as it's no point. I've found if she wants to sleep she will. Some days are better than others. In time things will improve. It's not worth the mental drain as it's out of my control.
She feeds every 3 hours so it is usually 10 or 11pm we put her down for the night at midnight. Then we cross fingers! She is now in the cot. Sometimes she wakes at 3:30, other times 4-4:30, a few times she has woken 6:30-7. Every day is different. I know it is easy to get down, just don't compare Lilly with other babies. You really can't settle her if she has colic/reflux but you can make sure she us comfortable
Nikky wow that is wonderful that she is a sleeper!
Amanda gosh what a huge weight gain!!! You must have awesome breast milk!!
Mollie DH goes back to work tomorrow too It is hard to get used to it again. But I'm sure we will.
I went to my inlaws yesterday for father in law bday. They decided to sit outside for lunch and my SIL took the corner of the table near the house and parked her kids in front of her. We were left to sit at the other end of the table past the others in the middle in front of the BBQ which had smoke pouring out of it!! I went inside with Jess on my own. Also it was quite windy and the side we were put was very uncomfortable. To top it all off DS has nut allergies which I've told them millions of times. Out comes several bowls of pistachio then the bday cake is covered in chopped almonds. I told MIL that if he ate it we'd be off to the hospital. She saw it more as a pain for them that they couldn't have nuts. I was fuming for hours just at how they just think of themselves. I wish DH would be more assertive there. He kept trying to get me to go outside and he'd take Jess but I didn't want to!
Amanda I would only put something mild on it like sudocream or pawpaw ointment. Also Amanda that's crap about the WC vacs we got ours in hospital but yes you should be getting a booster shot yourselves as well as grandparents they say as well. Wow what a chubba you have LOL Abby is still under 5kg well was on Thursday anyway.
Lolpigs your a great mum don't ever doubt that. Could it be something that you are eating that Is upsetting her. Maybe you could try a couple of days of just solely FF and freeze the EBM to keep it and monitor her for a couple of days then reintroduce the EBM to see what happens. As for the 10pm feed I generally will feed Abby anywhere from 3-5am then continue 3-4 hourly during the day but if I find her 10pm will be out by over an hour that night I will bring a couple of feeds closet together say 3hrly so it lines up to 10pm that night. She is generally bathed around 6:30pm then a 7pm feed then she is tired and i put her in the bassinet to self settle or DH settles her while I cook dinner, this way we all get to sit and eat together as Abby is normally asleep by that time. For the 10pm feed I then change her nappy and pop the bottle in her mouth gently cos she is normally still asleep then it's straight to bed. I try to sit in the lounge room with her in the dark with no noise or tv on for this feed too.
Thanks guys Just gets a bit depressing sometimes. Especially now she is being unsettled at night as well, we used to at least have that ok.
Jan did you know you can adjust the seat on the swing? DH did it and it is more upright now we did it because bubs is bigger.
I might try that, I'll try a 10pm dream feed tonight if she is going ok and see how that goes. So just change the nappy and feed her in bed? Or get her up? I dont know if she would stay asleep for a Nappy change and feed after being asleep but you never know. Her room is normally pretty quiet as well and dark at this time. She last ate at 12, so I'll try feeding her 4 hourly today to see if I can make her feeds smaller too to be easier on her stomach.
That's a good idea Dan, I might just problem is she knows the difference between my BM and the Formula and prefers the BM lol. I have no clue what it would be that is upsetting her I just try and have a balanced diet. Not much spicey foods, a little caffine only 1 glass of milk a day etc.
Her last feed she ate 240ml of BM!, but the feed before only took 100 ml of formula but that was right before a colic attack so it seems dependant on that. How do you freeze the BM, just in the bottles?
Danni- good idea, I'll use sudocream, that stuff works do well on her nappy rash! And yeah I thought it was weird about the WC vacs- the dr was like, well if you really want to we can do a blood test and check your immunity but it's not standard- er, did she somehow miss the memo about WC vacs?!
Jan- OH MY GOSH I'd have been furious!!! How unbelievably selfish!!! I'd have burst into tears of anger I reckon! I can't believe how selfish they are with your DS' allergies- nut allergies are serious, how dare they!!!! I'm furious on your behalf! Oh inlaws, they really can be absolutely horrid!
Amanda that doc is full of poo and I'd be going elsewhere. For nappy rash I either use sudocream or amolin - but have been lucky enough to not have any thus far.
Jan, really not cool! I would've been sooo angry I would've either told DH to deal with it or we leave.
Just bit the bullet and bought a trial pack of itti bitti tutto nappies - I've been toying with the idea of cloth for while but have been hesitating because ordinarily I loathe washing and folding stuff. DH turned around and said just to try them see how I go with it before deciding, so got the trial pack on sale with 6 nappies, some cloth wipes and a wet bag for $185 instead of $230 as they're having a big sale at the moment
Alex has been sleeping a lot today, we've had a pretty busy couple of days and a couple of late-ish nights so I guess he's just a bit tired because he's soooo busy looking around at everything. We have his check with the CHN on Tuesday, will be interesting to see what he weighs in at because he's getting pretty chubby, but is also really long.
Had a go at my ex the other day, DD has been having problems at school and he just hasn't been passing on info to me, so I haven't really been able to help her much. I asked him about parent/teacher interviews, he tells me they were a few months ago but he didn't tell me about them at all. Oh and we were discussing what was going to happen with DD's child support payments while I'm not working, he says he's gotten behind while he's not been working etc which ok I get that he relies on the money from me but he goes and lists things like the video card in his computer - ummm, I'm not financing your WoW habit dude! Grrrrrrr he irritates me sometimes!
Jan - I cant believe how selfish they all were!! They should be more considerate of your DS' allergies!! How inconsiderate of your SIL, even though she has kids as well she could have offered you a chair near the house as well!!!
Amanda - If I told my dr what your dr said she would probably call them a clown!! she was adamant when I was preg that me, DH, my mum, dad and IL's all have it done!
Mollie- yeah that's what I thought! As far as I heard, it's not that important to get the vaccine for your individual baby's protection but to help stop the WC epidemic ATM? Or did I get that wrong? Regardless I was shocked that she thought it wasn't a standard thing. There were signs up in the hospital everywhere about it!
CK ughhhhh that's heaps annoying of your ex! Especially with the WoW thing... Uhhh!! Could you ask the school to keep you updated themselves because he wont pass on the info? Or is that a bit beyond what a school would do?

His last feed is anywhere from 8:30 to 10pm. He will not go to sleep before 10pm though or he cracks it.
Mr grumpy pants had the poos on big time. Screamed and cried from 7pm to 9:30pm. He had trouble passing wind and then over heated from the muggy weather and yelling. He was sorted and Asleep by 10pm.
The thing is, he's usually pretty good...just the talk of DD moving here has him worried about how he'd cope on his own I think. It's sorta backfired though as at the end of next year we said we'd revisit the idea and I'm now in less of a mind to let her stay with him next year and as she starts to move into puberty etc.
Lolpigs yep I change nappy, feed holding baby on the couch then straight back to bed pretty much. I find Abby pretty good being able to put to bed in a pitch black room, she sometimes stirs but it's dark so she goes straight back to sleep. Yes you can you use the bottles to freeze in but the ABA site has what you can and can't do with the storage of milk.
CK yeh could imagine it might be awkward for your DD to talk to her dad about girly things.
My itti bitti tutto's are leaking . She only pee'd once but I guess she did soak through the soaker pads but then it come out near the legs.
