Amanda you can try resettling if Violet wakes from a nap you might get another 30 mins to an hour from her. Sometimes babies wake and then don't know how to get back to sleep again. You might be doing that already but I didn't know that with DS1.
Danni thanks Hun. Functioning hmmm every day is different depending on how the night before went. I was a wreck yeaterday. It took it's toll. I ended up with diarrhea (sorry tmi) and cramps from exhaustion. Came to my mums thank god for them and didn't talk much and cried here and there. She didn't sleep all day yesterday as well, hence the crying.
Last night was better, though I only get that when it seems to come to a climax after 5-7 days of it and I think I'm going to crack. I actually pray for sleep. So grateful I got some last night. It makes all the difference on my outlook. Though who knows what tonight will bring. I'm at a loss to know how to fix it.
With Jess the sleep more results in literally no sleep at night from what I've gathered. So will see if that continues otherwise I'll let her catnap during the day in the hope she will sleep at night. Otherwise it's just too much. She keeps throwing curve balls at me so I've learnt to not expect much. She hates the swing. Doesn't like to be rocked and fights the dummy!

Yeah I do this Jan with Lilly works more often than not.
Hope Jess is doing better today for you and the tablets start helping.
Lilly seems to be feeding every 5-6 hours, should I be worried? She still has lots of wet nappies and a couple dirty ones a day.

Hmmmmm bugger Jan!! Gosh she reminds me of DS2 but I guess I was lucky DS1 was at school and I could concentrate on just us most days or sleep or do what ever got me through. I used to lay down with DS2 to just make him sleep he was the clingiest of kids, he would scream all day if I wasn't holding him, so I can totally understand your frustration.

I tried, she just fafs around with the bottle, or only take 50ml unless she is acutally hungry. Which seems to be 5 hours at least. Shes taking 240ml 5-6 hourly. And sometimes doing a play sleep inbetween feeds. Thats during the day, I always give her a feed around 11:30 or so to make sure she is getting at least 4 feeds in 24hours mostly I get 5 in. I've been tracking it and it averages at 4.5 in 24hours. Then she will get up around 6 - 7 am for her next feed.
She just wont eat if she dosent want to however.. little pest!

Does she bring up much milk? That's alot of milk the 240mls, but if it is working and your both happy enough to go along like that then just go with it. The only other thing you could do is reduce the intake but offer another feed sooner.
With Abby she feeds 3-4 hourly during the day then has a 10pm feed and goes through to around 7am. I fit in five feeds of around 150mls that she never finishes in a 24hr period.
Abby has just started to roll onto her side.

I have no idea how much Alex is taking for a feed, but he does the phaffing about if he's not hungry thing too. Hands go in the mouth and he starts chattering away and giggling.
My theory is if it's not broken, don't fix it. She's weeing and pooing enough, gaining weight and otherwise happy in herself, sounds perfectly fine to me. If her output started to drop, or she wasn't gaining weight steadily, then I'd look at maybe offering a small feed to top up before sleep.
Got an appointment with the CHN on Tuesday - be interesting to see how much my little buddha weighs, I swear my biceps are going to be bulging soon from lifting his weight :lol:

THanks guys, yeah shes a bit hit and miss that should say up to 240ml, sometimes 150 sometimes 180 sometimes 240. Sometimes 3 feeds sometimes 5 feeds in 24 hours. Got a check up with the pead on wednesday so will check it out then weight wise and see whats going on. We have had one or 2 dryer nappies but nothing major, she did 2 dirty yesturday.
No she isnt bringing much up, we still do have some spews but there is only one or 2 a day now.

Levi has 3-4 wet nappies a day but only poos every few days. Never has a problem when he gets around to it and farts like a trooper in between lol.
I've been struggling the last few days with tiredness and short temper, I have a feeling my period would of been due.

Same Amumma, I have such a short temper at 6am when Lilly has woken the last few days. I've started charting again and its the end of my period which explains it. Sigh. Hate it.

I normally feel grumpy leading up to AF but come good a day or so before hand. This female bizzo is a PITA!! My AF also come 6 weeks post last one too so hopefully I can bring it back in alignment better soon.

Ahhh depo, how I love thee - no sign of AF since that first one :) Got to line up my next shot in a few weeks, then I'll be letting it wear off by itself in 3 months...

AF is 3 weeks late for me now and I feel so bloated and crappy. It's not regulating itself.

First day home without hubby, its been 4 months already girls! Scary. So far things have gone ok, little miss had trouble winding down for her nap but we got there.

Jan, yeah I try resettling her but it normally doesn't work! Yet she's tired still... Weird.. Unless maybe I try taking her out of her bed and then resettle and then put her back in? She just won't seem to resettle in her bed, I can normally only settle her in my arms.. Frustrating!
Frustrating that Jess fights the dummy! Have you tried different shaped dummies at all! Violet doesn't like all the shapes, she prefers the avent ones that are kinda flat? But yeah I guess some babies just don't like dummies! At night, do you change her nappy? I've found I get heaps more sleep now that I don't change violets nappy at night- she doesn't care and I just use a thick amount of sudocream to protect her skin- I found when I used to change her at night she would end up wide awake for play time like you mentioned, and I'd be up for sometimes 2 hrs trying to resettle- now it's 15 mins roughly!
I haven't had AF reappear yet- hope she stays away. Not keen for her return!
Lolpigs, does it feel less daunting now that you've had the first day with DH back at work?
It's DH and my fourth wedding anniversary Thursday.. We are going to have a picnic with us and violet :)
I have a super dumb question- so there are lots of plastic toys, rattles etc for babies that are for 3months and up- violet isn't grabbing things yet consciously but if I touch the toy to her hand she will sometimes grab it out of reflex- but then she will wave her hands around and im sure she would smack herself in the head if she played with it? Anyone else had that problem?

Wow thats ages if you change the nappy Amanda good idea not to change it then.
Yeah less daunting now, just lonley lol. And Lilly misses her daddy. She currently having a bunch of awake time becuase she realised daddies home I think. She also rolled over for the first time onto her stomach by choice. Funny thing.
I wouldnt worry about her hitting herself. Its how they learn Lilly does it all the time LOL she shoves them into her eyes too. They soon learn not to if it bothers them hehe

95% of the time I have to settle Jessica in my arms. If she wakes 15 mins after putting her down I resettle her by holding her in my arms and then put her back down. It usually takes about 15mins. If she has slept over 30 mins I dont bother but that's my little refluxer. If she's tired upon waking it might be worth a try. Sometimes they can't progress into the next stage of sleep into deeper sleep and jolt themselves awake.
Jessica wants me to hold her ALL day and cries if I don't. The sling doesn't really help, can't use it to cook or clean as she's right in front of me. I know it's a stage but the stress of it all is hard to listen to crying when you can't pick her up because have to cook for DS.
