 Jan, can you carry her on your back instead? I found these links on youtube that might help. You have an ergo dont you? Ergo Baby Carrier Back Carry Demo - YouTube Sleepy wrap one if you have it Sleepy Wrap - Back Carry - YouTube
Please tell me this is a phase? Lilly learned to roll from her side to her stomach during day light hours yesturday, and spent all night every hour waking becuase shed rolled onto her stomach in her sleep... and as soon as I flipped her back she went back to sleep.
I'm wrecked. I can't have her wrapped now or use a sleeping positioner becuase she is rolling so much and just flips out of hte positioners or gets her face stuck up against them. Shes now in her grobags.
Do I have to ride this out until she learns to roll back? Argh... Shes also chucking alot again due to all the movement. In her bed, on her mats, on me, blegh.
Zombie mum today.
Hope everyone is well. <3
Edit: Looks like her day sleeps are buggered now too, 10mins asleep and I walk over to see her wriggling around on her stomach and refluxing sigh

Hi ladies!
Hi everyone! I'm new to the site, it's fantastic- wish I'd found it earlier. I'm Sarah, 25yrs old with first bubba Emilia born 13th Nov. Thought I might join this group if it's still going, you all seem like a lovely bunch of ladies. Anyway just saying hi and introducing myself, looking forward to talking to you guys.:)

Dunno, I hope she grows out of it. Same as I hope Alex grows out of the sticking his legs up in the air as high as he can and then slamming them down onto his mattress....while he's still asleep. Fine for him, wakes me up though. Also, this weather is stupid. Can summer be finished now please? Too hot to sleep, put the a/c on but forget to put Alex's blanket over him....Alex wakes up cold and grumpy and then refuses to settle back into bed. Awake from 1am to 5am just about, but would go to sleep as soon as I picked him up.
I had just gotten his bedtime routine sorted out too. Shower/bath as soon as Daddy gets home around 5pm, feed one side, play with Daddy while I get dinner ready then he either plays on the floor or sits in his rocker while we eat. Feeds the other side once I'm done and goes straight off to bed by about 7pm. Was bliss!
His latest trick is hunching himself up on his knees and elbows to creep around his mat to reach his toys. Still can't roll all the way over though. Gets onto his side but hasn't figured out his arms to go all the way over. Have to wonder whether he'll do it to show off for the CHN today....
ETA - Hi Seppy, welcome to join us :)

Hi Seppy :) Welcome!
Yeah me too its round the clock, flipping from back to belly atm. I know she is excited about learning a new skill but please!
Lilly does that too, she dosent bang them down though, but sticks them up in the air and then when I turn away tried to roll over.
Sounds like a nice routine :) Lilly refuses routines, like last night deciding because DH was home from work waking at 8pm which is unheard of and play with him till 9:30 then getting really upset becuase she is tired.
That sounds so cute CK ;)

It's funny, I'm not usually one for a strict routine - but he sorted it all out himself. Seems I was missing his cues because I'd get dinner ready, eat and then take him off for a bath or shower and he was getting really grumpy at about 7pm but wouldn't settle down to sleep until 9-10pm, and would wake more often overnight. Then a few days ago he did a massive poonami at about 5pm (all over himself and all over me too) so I took him in for a shower as the easiest way to get cleaned up, then popped him in his pyjamas. It worked a treat so figured I'd try it again. The only catch is the 5.30am wake up.....

I have a pretty similar routine to you Cranky kitten- I've found that bottle, bath then bed earlier in the evening works best for her. Then she'll sleep till I give her a dream feed at 10:30pm and go through to about 6am (which I'm not complaining about). I've found the dream feed works a treat, I've only just started it this past month and it has changed my life around. I've recently been to a sleep school in melb (would highly recommend it to any one!) and they helped me and her get into a pretty strict feeding 4 hourly eat-play-sleep pattern and she's a completely different baby. Up until about a month ago, she wouldn't sleep AT ALL during the day (maybe 2-3 20minute naps) :wall: and would need to be held and rocked to sleep where she'd sleep for only 3 hour blocks. And she was constantly snack feeding throughout the day. Not sure if it was just the sleep school or just she's a little older and has turned a corner but things seems much easier than the first two months. :D
Lately I've been finding her with all her blankets and wraps kicked off in the morning, so I've been thinking of getting her a sleeping bag- has anyone tried them? If so how did ur baby take to them?
-
Jan - yeah it would be super stressful having to just let her cry but you can't hold her all day hey! You poor thing.. Your such a trooper! Oh same, violet never falls asleep other than in my arms really- which makes things difficult!
Heya Seppy! Glad you've found us! Congratulations on Emilia! Gorgeous name! Im 25 too, live in Adelaide and violet was born on 17th November but I stayed in this group cos this was my belly buddies group :) - violet was 8 days overdue so I should technically be in the next group but I stayed here :) anyway! Ummm WOW it's like you said exactly what I happening with violet!! She rarely sleeps during the day other than in her swing, or if it's in her own bed it's only thru me rocking / feeding her to sleep, then puting her in bed, then she wakes up after 30 mins max- and normally wakes upset! Then at night- she sleeps from 9:30 till 2ish, then 2:30 till 4ish, 4:30 till 6ish... Sounds like the sleep dr worked wonders for you! How do you settle her during the day? After the playtime? I try the eat play sleep routine but violet is very hard to settle during the day.... As for the blankets / wraps getting kicked off- I have the same issue! She squirms out of hers quite easily- at the moment I just double wrap her, which helps a bit but not heaps- haven't tried a sleeping bag cos she waves her arms around so much and hits herself in the face and wakes herself up if her arms are out! So I'm not sure what to do there either!
-
Alex uses a grobag, has done since birth as he hates being wrapped normally. Seems to sleep quite well in them, but I'm kinda waiting for some cooler weather to start using them regularly - he often goes to bed in just a singlet and nappy on our super hot nights and I pop a blanket over him after his overnight feed around 2am.
-
Just started using grobag Lilly sleeps OK when she isn't flipping. She started rolling out of normal wraps so I guessed she wanted more freedom
Seems today whenever I put her on a flat surface she flips and cries and I can't put her down today because she cries, thank the universe for foxtel!

Lovely to meet u Amanda! My goodness violet sounds exactly how Emilia used to be. Every time she wakes at night do you feed her again or just try to resettle her? I would feed emilia every time she woke which turned out to be not what she wanted, she would just wake coming out of the deep sleep and not know how to get herself back. At sleep school it was all about teaching her how to soothe herself off to sleep without too much input from us (like I said I would always hold/rock/feed her to sleep). She used to scream and become wide awake as soon as i laid her in her cot- every time! We've got her to take to the dummy which she didn't before and made sure to wrap her tightly - i was never wrapping her well enough, although now she can wriggle out of her blankets which is why I was asking about sleeping bags.
To get her to sleep during the day, i feed her then try to really stimulate her during playtime (I was told babies will wake more often if they don't get enough stimulation when they're awake), then when I notice a couple of the tired signs (tugging at her ears, yawning, less playful) I wrap her immediately, cuddle her for a couple of minutes to give her some wind down time and to relax her, then I say the exact same thing every time I lay her down (I say time for sleep). Then I shhh and pat her till she starts closing her eyes and I walk away before she's fully asleep, so she doesn't associate needing me to be there to say asleep. It took a few days for her to slowly stop protesting every time she was put down, but it works most times now. She gets between 3- 6 hours all up during the day, each sleep lasting between 1/2hr- 2 hours. If she's having a bad day or during the witching hours I might put her in her pram and rock her in that or if she's particularly cranky I'll hold her. So she's not always perfect, but we're a long way from where we were. But they say sleep promotes sleep, so the more she sleeps the more she wants to sleep. Sleep school was a godsend, but I was getting desperate!!
Jan i feel for you, Emilia always had to be held, even when she wasnt asleep. She always needed my reassurance which became frustrating because I could get nothing done- ever! I've heard babies usually 'grow out of relux' at about 4 months, or the reflux settles down a bit with the starting of solids? Hopefully u get some relief soon!
Thanks cranky kitten and lolpigs, I've heard the gro bags are good, and they come in different TOGS depending on the weather. Do you think I can continue wrapping her inside the sleeping bag coz she only knows how to sleep wrapped? She isn't rolling at all yet so it still should be safe yeh?
-
I would try to get her used to having her arms out first see how she goes? I wouldnt wrap inside a bag.
You could start by wrapping her with one arm out for sleeps, then both arms out once she was used to it, then start using the grobag this is what I was starting to do with Lilly but this sudden desire to roll everywhere I just gave up and put her in the sleeping bag becuase she is rolling now in everything I put her in and I figure its safer with her arms out. I use the dummy too and pat her tummy till the eyes dont pop open all the time then walk out. I tell her its bed time darling hehe. Lilly is a reflux baby too so its taken ages to get her this good. Lilly still chucks now but dosent have the pain issues poor Jan is dealing with Jess.
Currently I'm using 0.5 TOGS and 1 TOGS. I bought mine second hand off ebay becuase they are a tad expensive new.
Yeah I'm the same Seppy, I dont feed every time Lilly wakes over night. I do one feed, if she wakes more than that I just resettle. I also do a 10:30 feed to keep her going past the wee hours as she isnt sleeping the whole night yet just 6 hour stretches and for me getting up at 2am is worse than 6am.
Edit: LOL someone suggested this product for Lilly to stop her rolling, but I dont want to hinder her development, I think she is just super keen to master it and dosent want to wait. It is almost like its a reflex? So weird, but its hilarous its seriously baby velcro! I so was contemplating duct tape last night!

I wouldn't wrap inside a grobag - the bag is designed so they can't slip down inside it and end up with it over their head, the arm-holes are a part of this. There are things like woombies and such that are more wrap-like that they can't wriggle out of instead, which would probably work better.
Back from our CHN visit....Alex is now 7.705kg and 65cm long! I thought my arms were getting a workout from lifting him  Everything else is cruising along nicely and the nurse was fascinated with his cloth nappies.
-
Sounds Great Ck :) Big boy now! Although Lilly is almost as long as him haha shes going to be tall like her daddy.
I had a cry just now, the pain with Lillys reflux is back. :( She just woke from a deep sleep, spewed and is now inconsolable. So I've started her on the Zantac liquid we have, Just as well seeing the pead tomorrow. Sigh.

Lovely to meet you also Seppy :) and wow, that sleep school sounds like they know their stuff!!! I do actually feed her every time she wakes at night, yeah!! So thats not really the best thing to do? So, at her 2am-ish feed, i feed her then, and then perhaps i shouldne be feeding her when she wakes up after that? Till maybe 6ish? So maybe when she wakes at 4 ish, i should just resettle her? Do you just resettle Emilia by giving her her dummy and patting her back to sleep without taking her out of her bed? Wow so glad to hear this!! So eventually, did Emilia stop waking as much during the night once she learnt to resettle herself? As for during the day, yeah, exactly the same thing, i get her to sleep in my arms, put her to bed and then WAAAH! What do ou do to stimulate her during the playtimes? I sing, play with her toys, read, let her have tummy time / play mat time, walk around outside or if we are out somewhere then it takes care of itself, but i often wonder if theres anything else i could be doing to stimulate her as much as possible! How long did it take for her to start sleeping longer than the 30ish mins? And did you have to resettle her if she woke after 30 mins or did she just start sleeping longer? The routine of wrapping, shh and telling her its time for sleep sounds good, i guess it triggers her to realise its sleep time! Very interesting stuff! As for the dreamfeed thing, i was basically just putting her to bed at 9.30ish, but i reckon ill start putting her to bed more like 8, then doing the dreamfeed at 10:30 /11ish and see how that goes.. What time do you put Emilia to bed? Thats awesome that she lasts till 6! And yeah i know what you mean about feeling desperate, it can be a struggle trying to sort this sleep thing out!! Edit to add - yeah Violet only knows how to sleep wrapped also... i might have to look at getting a Woombie or something!
CK, awww go alex! i reckon violet would weigh about the same by now - i will try weigh her when i go out shopping thursday! I know what you mean about the arms getting a work out! Thanks for the mention of the Woombie, i might have to get one of those!!
Oh lolpigs, im sorry to hear lillys reflux is playing up again... you poor thing, how stressful.. i hope its just a once off! BTW i like seeing the TTC in June in your sig, how EXCITING to see that written there!!! Eeee! :D :D :D

Allo Ladies :)
Welcome Seppy!
Feels like forever since I posted in here!
Sorry to read that some of you are still having sleep problems with bubs! Twas the same with Harriett! wouldn't sleep anywhere but ON someone! I think it had a lot to do with the fact that I had NO idea what I was doing! cause, with Zoe, she sleeps like a trooper! And I think that has a lot to do with us co-sleeping. I love being woken up with her kicking me in the belly and giggling! hehe
Her routine is - Wakes around 6.30am - We get up, change butt...says good morning to her sister (usually with giggles!), feed her...then have a conversation with her, then back to bed she goes! Where she sleeps from 1.5 hours to 2hrs. Get her up again, change butt, play on the mat with her sister and with toys, Feed her around 10.30. Back to bed for another couple of hours. Then wake up, change butt, have a play, the longest play she has during the day actually... then a feed ... then back to bed! Then up again for a play & Shower/bath & feed around 5.30pm. Then back to bed and a wake up around 9ish for her last feed for the day!
Phewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww....
Anyways - Harriett is LOVING Kindy! rarely does she actually acknowledge the fact that I have left nor the fact I have arrived to take her home!
Hubby has given up Smoking AND sugar ... gah, it has been nearly 3 weeks now...and while I wanted to donk him on the head the first week, he hasn't been too bad!
Big hugs for those who are still struggling :( .. it DOES get better! PROMISE xx

Wow Nikky long time no read :) Glad to see everything is going well ;)
No Amanda unfortunatley not :( at her 10pm feed lots of screaming afterwards. I think its the learning to roll thats done it. Shes back on her meds now and will get a check up with our pead today. No blood thankfully. She woke me 3 times last night just to check I was there, so she isn't feeling well. She went to sleep as soon as I got to her cot again poor pet. Back to spewing after every feed though :(
With the dream feed Amanda, I try and get Lilly into bed around 6-7 in the evening after her bath, and then feed her at 10pm. Then back to sleep till 6-7. If she wakes at 5am hungry, I feed and then I resettle till 6:30 - 7. We dont start the day with her until around this time. Is she crying when she wakes up? Or just calling to you? Lilly during the night is only hungry if she wakes up crying, otherwise its just that shes woken and can't get back to sleep or wants company or has a dirty nappy or whatever.
As for weaning her off the wrap you can try the one arm out, then both arms out thing. I have a wombie, and its great except its just like wrapping them so no weaning off there :) Unfortunatley, Lilly can roll over in it LOL, so not so great hehe.
Day sleeps are still hit and miss but if she wakes at 45 mins I just leave her till she calls out to me then resettle. And by calls out I mean cry, I dont mean I hear her make a noise and I go up there, if I do that she wont go back to sleep. More often than not if I just stay away she just goes back to sleep again.
EEE exciting huh? :) Even Hubby is looking forwards to it but I'm sure not for the same reasons as me! :P

Has anyone heard from Mollie??
