Babies Born ~ November 2012 #1

Hi all!

I hope everyone is enjoying the New Year. I hope that nobody has been or is being threatened by the bushfires.

Nel - I've been wrapping DD in muslin when it is really hot plus she is too big to wrap in the other cotton and flannel anyway (she is bulky). I will switch her to sleeping bags soon though, once she can roll over. I'll be going on the lowest tog with no sleeves.

Indad - Sorry to hear you still haven't recovered. I remember having the bleeding slowing, almost stopping then ramping up again even with my c-sect, so it could be just usual locia?? Mine did stop though just after 6 weeks. I hope yours does too.
Glad to hear little Miss is doing so well! Oh yeah, that witching time is hell for us too! I can't remember it being as bad for DD#1.

Cassius - Blardy heck about the placenta re-attaching. Are you or have you had a D&C? Sounds like it might be the way to go since it hasn't gone on it's own.

Audax - Excellent news with the night sleeps! We struggle from late arvo to early evening with Miss K feeding crazily and crying alot! I am tempted to put Miss K on her side as she tends to settle well but she is in her room, which is down the other end of the house and I don't think I could sleep well knowing she could rollover and get stuck. She can lift her head quite well but from time to time she gets the wobbles when she tires!

Hi to everyone else, I hope you and the little ones are doing well

AFU - Miss K is generally very good overnight. Usually up either once or twice a night for a feed and goes back down without a fuss until around 7 am. Daytime sleeps are all over the place, usually the morning is fine but arvos and early evenings are a nightmare. She loves to be cuddled, which kills my back. I really should bust out the sling more. Luckily DH is very hands on with cooking and organising Miss R, otherwise we'd be eating toast for dinner most nights! I should get more organised during the day but I have a thousand other things I think of doing then before I know it time has gone and I am dealing with Miss K (or Miss C, for cranky pants I should call her!). Heck Miss K is alot more grumpier than I remember Miss R being, particularly in the car. Oh, she doesn't think much of the car! Hard when you are driving and she is complaining!

Other than that Miss K is doing nicely. She weighs a hefty 5.7kgs now (900+ gain in a month). Comparing this to Miss R, she weighs approx. 700g more but is shorter! She is quite tubby! Still fitting in 000 due to short legs but tops are a little snug around the girth! lol

Audax: oohh does wine make them grumpy?? i have been off all alcohol due to the crazy ABs that i am on....could really handle an ice-cold beer on these hot afternoons.....

Indad: how are you travelling? saw that there is loads of smoke your way...cannot be fun...

RCC: had to laugh as we call miss e 'cranky pants' too lol. man our cranky evenings are stretching right into the night. the only saving grace being that then she sleeps a solid 5-7 hours before the next feed. but wow, she gets seriously overstimulated, which is weird as i really watch her tired cues and during the day i can pop her down with little to no fuss...but nights are sooo different.
Miss E also is not the biggest fan of the car...but she better get used to it as we are off on a road trip soon (depends on fires at this stage as our chosen pitstop was caught up in a fire last night).

Hope that all the other bubbas and mamas are doing well xx

AFM: pretty good here. crazy nights, but thats ok...for now lol. i am booked for a d&c in 10 days. but the private OB i am seeing reckons it will pass before then :leap: it is finally coming away. i sure hope i can dodge the bullet, but am happy to have it dine if need be.
Miss E has piled on the weight and now weighs 5.6kgs! she is such a vomity baby that i had wondered early on if it was going in...but her rolls are testimony to good eating lol.
Took her to the osteo the other day for the vomiting and it has thankfully made a huge improvement. she hasnt vomited out of control since we have been (she used to vomit in her sleep all night long and be drenched...some of the vomits would hit the floor off the bed/cot!!)

Hi ladies,

How is everyone going?

We are going fairly well. Miss K did her first sleeping through the night last night, but I think it was a once off. She was feeding every two hours from about 2pm until 10 pm. She finally zonked it at about 10.30pm and woke 6.15am. Nice if she continued that but the two hourly feeding was a little draining! She seems content and nappies are wet & dirty so I am assuming all is going well.
I dragged the highchair out of the shed today as she is a little more awake lately. I popped her in it whilst making Miss R & I lunch then we all sat at the dining table together. Was quite nice and she was taking it all in. She still is a little wobbly at times with her neck and head control, more so when tired. Lately she has been trying to sit upright - i feel her squeezing her tummy up then she sort of sits upright until slumping back down - so funny. She also has been wriggling around in her cot a bit (I found her sideways this morning) so we have stopped wrapping her and she is in a sleeping bag now. She still waves her arms around a bit but it is settling down and she is sleeping well overnight, just during the day can be a bit trying.

Cassius - So glad to hear Miss E is doing well, particularly with the vomitting settling down. Did you manage to get away?

Miss K is awake, due for a feed. x

Hiya Ladies!!

On the new Lappy :D Much much easier than the stupid phone but I don't even know where to start!

DS2 is just beautiful!! 2 months today (time is flying!!). So much like DS1 in looks. Apart from the dark hair and blue eyes whereas DS1 has red hair and brown eyes, I was hoping they would both be redheads! Little chubby bubba like his brother was. Weighs nearly 7kg and has been in 00's for a couple of weeks now. DS1 absolutely ADORES him! I was worried about the whole jealousy thing but so far has been great, very helpful and loves showing him off!!

He is an excellent sleeper also, usually down at around 8/8:30 and up at 4ish then back down til 5:30/6 when DS1 gets up. has 3 1.5-2 hour sleeps during the day.

I have just spent the last 5 days up at Hervey Bay with my mum.. She just moved into this HUGE house up on a hill with constant breeze blowing right through the house. It was DEVINE to get away from the heat and smoke!! and not be on my own whilst DP is away at work. DS2 isn't a very good traveller tho, stopping 3 times (3 hour drive) on the way to settle him.

Cassius I had a white wine on Fri night and DS was quite unsettle for a bit on Sat arvo. He doesn't have a problem after I have a beer, plus it helps with milk supply as well if you find it dwindling at the end of the day.

I'm absolutely knackered so off to bed I go!! Night! :cool:

Eza- it's the tannins in wine, apparently, that upset them. Unfiltered beer is great for your milk supply though.

We're having fun, got vaxes on Thursday, and little girl did awesome! She's 5.9kg now. So chatty, just loves cuddles and faces to look at.

RCC: that was how our nights were too...she would totally smash the boob for like 3 hours and then finally zonk out around 10.30 and sleep most of the way through...til like 4 or 5 for a quickie and then back down until about 8.30-9.
thankfully though she is getting through that now with much earlier down times (8-8.30) so much easier and gives me more time at night to just chill out and relax.

Eza: good on you for doing a road trip all by yourself! far out! it is such a relief when the older siblings just seem to dote on their baby isnt it?! i was sooo worried each time but thankfully each time the girls have just been wonderful and totally smitten. they do get a bit cross with me at times when i am flat chat with bubs or just too tired to do much fun stuff, but now that we are leaving behind the crazy newborn stage and i am much better it is getting really fun and there is less frustration directed at me (phew! lol).

Audax: ahhh the darn tannins! ok, might have to stick to beer then lol. in fact, i think i can now officially have alcohol...stopped the ABs two days ago...apparently have to wait an extra 48 hours after i stop them because they are so strong :o

AFM: we are just back from a wonderfully fun road trip up to wollongong! it was sooo awesome!! we took it really easy and stopped at this way cool motel straight outta the 70s! it had a little pool, a trampoline and swing set...and a horse hotel! the girls loved it and loved being able to pat all the horses.
Miss E had her first 'swim' in the ocean too. she loved it! i thought she would freak at the cold of the water but nup, she was totally into it lol.

other good news is that i had my final scan today at the OBs office and I am all clear!!! :leap: FINALLY! so so relieved!

Miss E is growing beautifully. she is now 5.6kgs and full of rolls. we are getting lots and lots of laughs and smiles now and she cracks big smiles to strangers even now hahaha! super cute! her new favourite activity is to play 'peek-a-boo' with the mirror. she totally cracks up laughing at that one hahaha.

Cassius Yay!!! For the all clear! Must be such a relief! Loooove the smiles and giggles, oh so cute! Trip to the gong sounds nice :)

Eza We've just gotten back from Hervey Bay too :) Mum move up there not long ago. She's in Craignish. She was trying to talk me into moving up lol. Sucks about having to stop 3 times though :( hopefully as he gets older, it'll be an easier drive.

I've been so slack lately! I've been on reading bits and pieces but I'm always using my phone (like now) and sometimes I just can't be bothered typing using my phone :(

DD was 4 months on Monday. Where has the time gone?! Wish it would slow down! She's full of smiles and giggles and looooooves her daddy & big brother - thinks they're the funniest people ever!

She's only just started wearing 0000 this week! Had her weighed at her 8 week corrected appt, so 2 weeks ago and she was 3.85kg! Slowly getting there.. Have her 4 month vaxxes today.

I know I've missed loads of personals, will try to get on the comp and reply next time.

Cassius, awesome news! :) The trip up and back was challenging.. Had to stop 3 or 4 times each way, not much of a traveller :(

Schonell, my mum just moved to Craignish as well! lol. Did you check out the water park whilst you were there? It's awesome!! DS1 LOVED it!! Definitely need one like that around our area. I would love to move up there as I have 2 sisters and 2 brothers up there as well as another sister about an hour away. DP works out of Mackay and there are no flights up there out of Hervey Bay..

We are getting loads of smiles and giggles also! Loving that he is more interactive now. DS1 gets the biggest smiles out of him which just melts my heart!

Cassius - YAY! Hope your uterus gets better now! Your girl is so rolly, I know I act like a stalker on FB but seriously, she is ADORABLE! You grow cute kids!

schonell - Great growing for your little one :D

AFM - DD2 is 8 and 1/2 weeks now... I had a weeks reprieve from bleeding but now it is back again. Not too heavy though, just annoying. I thought it may have been AF, but the bleeding isn't the right kind of flow apparently. Scan came back clear though so all good there. And no infections. Dr is considering a thyroid or clotting issue, and if that's not it I'm off to a Ob/Gyn. Argh. I'm still hoping it's just AF. With all the bleeding I've had I can't imagine there'd be much of a lining to shed so maybe it's just my body's halfassed attempt at a cycle.

DD2 is going great guns though, got her first lot of needles yesterday :( I thought we were in for a shocker when she wouldn't settle until 9.30pm last night but then she slept through until 5.30am. :o No reaction at all at this stage - you can barely see where the needle went in... I can't get over how different temperament my two girls are. I swear DD1 never slept like that until... like... 8 months ago...
We are getting a lot of smiles and 'talking' now. Not so much for us though, like eza, DD2 only has eyes for DD1 most of the time! :)

Bushfires have moved on now - the smoke from the Bribie Island fire was horrific (we are 8km as the crow flies from White Patch) and poor little bubba got a cough from it :( Now two weeks later we are expecting floods and a king tide storm surge. This is Australia... lol! We are safe though, not in the evacuation area, and I'm pretty sure they are just being overly cautious anyway.

Eza such a small world! We didn't end up going to the water park this time but have been there before - it is amazing!

Indad Glad you're safe. Hope the bleeding doesn't last too long and it is just AF and not something more.

Indad: Well, if you are a stalker then so am I pmsl :rofl: we all make such cute babies :) glad to hear that bubs coped well with the vax! we are off on the 6th of Feb for hers (bit late as i wasnt going to do it while I (and her) were on ABs but we are all good to go now :D)...i only hope that she copes just as well!
argh on the bleeding! i am still getting the occasional spotting here and there, but have been assured that it's just the remnants making its way down the cervix...noice.

Eza: ah yep. all that stopping doesnt sound like fun...especially as it was for a sad bubba...if it were for touristy reasons it would be another story lol. some kids prefer to travel once they are facing the world...it was a huge improvement for us when DD2 finally went forward facing.

schonell: any word on your pram yet??

AFM: all good here :) DD3 is giggling up a storm now...sooo cute!! and she has started shrieking when she is really excited :o never had a kid that shrieks lol. she is becoming really aware of the people around her and is turning her head to follow people and is also smiling at strangers when we go out now :loveshower: the fun stuff is coming now!! i love it when they get this bit bigger and start to become part of their world ITMS.

Cass no word on the pram yet, they said it will probably be a week or two. I love this age :) Such a cute stage of development.

Are you QLD girls ok with this crazy weather?

yeah how are all you QLD people going?? Hope that you are all on high ground and have plenty of batteries for the torches! not much fun :(

I think DD3 might have an ear infection :( no temp but very sore sort of scream when i lie her down. and she is feeding like mad but it doesnt provide relief so it is a vicious circle ATM. poor poppet.

We're ok. The river near us is not meant to flood until mid tomorrow morning.. Just waiting to hear about school but I doubt DS school will be open where it is..

Cass could it be a wonder week? DD is the same at the moment. She seems happy when awake just doesn't want to sleep without being held.

this is what i have been thinking but it appears that she really feels sore whenever i pick her up or put her down (yanno that fast movement...). i did some ear candling on both ears just before so :crossfingers: that it will be enough to do the trick.

How's she doing after the ear candling?

Perfect! The ear that I thought was crook wasnt....so did the other ear and yep, instantly she reacted and i knew we were on a winner! she fell asleep immediately after I finished and we havent looked back...got my happy baby back :D

Indad: how is the water your way?? hopefully not doing any damage.

AFM: we are all good here now. the ear candling did the trick (yay) and Miss E is growing up a storm. i am packing away all her newborn clothes :( a little bit sad...
but the payoff is a baby that is really coming into herself IYKWIM. She is smiling away, interacting with the girls and people much more and really happy to sit in her bouncer or lie on the floor sucking on her random rattles and toys lol.
sleep-wise has been pretty good too. after DD2 i reckon any baby is good though :rofl:. last night she did awesome (for us) she slept 8pm to 3am for a quick feed, then back down until 6am for a feed and a quiet play in bed for 20mins then woke up finally around 9am...it was great as it gave me time in teh morning to do my own thing ITMS...had a shower, cup of tea, read the news etc. BLISS!

I am taking her for another appt to the osteo tomorrow though as she is still quite stiff on her left side and i have noticed that she is not attaching as well as she was. hopefully this will be the last session!

This baby's a dream after DD1 too! A 3 hour nap today! She has totally outgrown the bassinet, but DD1 is still using the cot, so she's been sleeping on our bed .she scoots around a lot though, so I'm not comfortable with it. Need to move the big girl into a big bed but I don't know what to get! Wahhhhh! (And I think ikea is closed due to flooding - any idea on that schonell?)

In awesome news, SaySay is feeding well and has started feeding to sleep. So much less trouble with burping and stuff.

And I'm fitting into all my pre-preg clothes, finally!

We are untouched by storms and floods. Makes a nice change from 2011.
