Jaz - lol at H escaping!!

MM - that is awesome news that they can get M in for her operation so quickly. And also about the public hospital

Trill - when we were younger, mum took us for a walk around the block on Christmas Eve while dad was finishing painting off a table for us. Everytime we walked past the driveway, he would wave us on (apparently, I don't remember!!) Good luck getting the cubby up in one evening!

MP - hope the boys are feeling better. Should be a nicer weekend down here than last week.

Well I got some Hylands teething tablets (would have bought anything at the chemist yesterday!!). Dosed her up on them last night and it seems to have made a bit of a difference. DH said she slept a lot better, but that could also be because he slept on the floor next to her all night!! She was certainly in a better mood this morning. I think I can feel one of the bottom ones coming through as well which might explain why it is so bad.

Going to a workshop today at the library about reading and engaging with books and your 0-5 year old. They only got 3 interested people which is such a shame, but at least it will be a nice small group.

    Hi girls!

    Noni: for the interview today!

Jaz: ROFL at H letting the priest know that the bread was also part of the bargain! ahhh, kids!

MM: This must be a relief for you babe to have M seen to so quickly and also to know that what she has been going through is beyond the norm ITMS. did he mention that the hearing loss will be rectified once the grommets go in??

Cally: that workshop sounds good! wish i was able to go to something like that here. hopefully the 'mothers grapevine' will kick into gear and there will be more ppl at the next one.

MP: oh dear! Hope the kidlets have a speedy recovery xx

Sherie: hmmm missed the cubby thread...but one time our parents organised a 'search for santa' trip on xmas eve, so packed the kids in the car and my Opa drove us around looking for santa...star gazing basically! and a stop off for an ice-cream. we visited the train station too, so see if he needed a lift LOl! when we got back the parents were standing on the lawn waving at the sky and said that santa had just flown past (and they had put all the pressies under the tree and performed some assembly of bikes etc)! we loved it!!

Arte: that is a tough break with the housing permit stuff. our neighbours had similar issues and it can drag on...hopefully the hearing will go in your favour and they will give up!

MD: ooohh i forgot to check out the BB secret santa thread. it was on my to-do list, but then the move got in the way. am i too late??

AFM: we are in the NEW HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love it love it love it!! so full of warmth and light! leila's room is DIVINE. it has a massive silky oak and iron fireplace, with the most gorgeous mantle top. so all her precious toys are having pride of place. we also have the most gorgeous BIRs. for the first time ever i am able to hang her nice clothes up! and she has drawers for all her smalls and lovely big spacious shelving for her normal clothes....not to mention the shoe compartment
she is loving the floorboards and the way her wheely bug slides across...so beats the carpet LOL! we also found that the dining room is massive and have now made it so that it is dining and a study area. which works perfectly for our needs. the loungeroom is also really romantic with a massive fireplace adorned with gorgeous tiles! not to mention the ducted heating and COOLING!!! and the yard is a dream. nice and big for the dog, with well place trees for the alfresco dining area and loads of space for leila to play. not to mention the 'man's shed' at the back LOL! DH is excited. the kitchen situation for an italian is dire however. it is REALLY tiny. and obviously designed by a man with no comprehension of bench space or small people (both vertically challenged and age challenged LOL!). leila can get into cupboards a little too easily and other cupboards are soo high that i need a chair. and really no more than one person can fit. so it will push us to save harder to get the extension organised i guess. but it is all new and clean, so already beats the old place hands down LOL! nothing worse than moving into a long term rental kitchen i must say...

Clare I think you have until the end of the month for SS. Wow your house sounds divine and absolutely perfect - oh except the kitchen. Which means it will be perfect perfect once that's done, and in the meantime the meals you cook will be filled with the happiness of "home", kwim?

Jazah, LOL at Han's moment with the priest. I bet a bit of a giggle went round the congregation.

MM I'm glad you were able to get M's op booked so quickly, I"m sure it will a tough few days but then she will improve so quickly after that. I had mine done when I was a baby and when I was 8 a dr peered in my ear and accused me of putting a pea in there (can you imagine how indignant I was at that suggestion??!) then he put an instrument in my ear and pulled out the grommet....it had stayed in all those years LOL.

MP - hope your coast break this weekend is good and I hope your boys are both much better!

Wondering how Noni's getting on with her interview today, bet she blitzes it!

Trill, the chrissy pageant's in a couple of weeks (I like to think they have it earlier on account of the baking hot sun but really it's because they've pushed the christmas shopping season forward LOL). We've done the after-bed on christmas eve thing before but it got a lot harder once we started having a family dinner on Chrissy eve every year (makes for a veeeeery late night). Oh I'm so excited, I *know* it's still Oct and I should be ashamed of myself but I'm starting to feel christmassy already!!!

PMSL at L calling the pony a whore!!!!

Jaz - Hehehehehe that is so cute of H, all she wanted was the bread. They are just too cute at this age. The teddy bear is a great idea, but I have left things too late, the christening is this weekend so its not enough time. I have found so many beautiful gifts on online stores, but too late, oh well.

Clare - Ohhh I am so happy that you love your house after all the house hunting you guys did. It sounds absolutely beautiful, I love character houses. The way you described it sounds wonderful, I could picture it perfectly. Shame about the kitchen but this can be replaced, the rest of the house sounds great. So happy for you. & re the hearing loss, the way I understand it is because her ears are so fluidy she cannot hear as well as she should, so once the grommets go in they will constantly act as a drain for any built up fluid. So it will keep her ears clear obviously and she will hear normally. So its not any permanent hearing damage but if we were to leave it any longer the ear infections can actually damage the ear permanently in some way, which is why they try to fix these things asap.

MD - Wow that grommet lasted awhile in your ear!! As for Noni, her status update on FB sounded confident, just waiting on reference checks now. Good on her hey.

Cally - I find the Hyland tablets work so well, also the Brauers. I swear by either one of these. I usually give M panadol at night and dose her up on the Hylands or Brauers during the day. Poor little K, good news that one is popping through finally though. How are you handling working and late nights?

Girls after all my days off work lately with sick M, I kept saying to DH one of these days I'm gonna loose my job for being so unreliable. So you can imagine my shock when on Tues my boss told me she is giving me a pay rise 'because I deserve it', lol!! Ok I wont say no to that!!

MM, sounds like you are on a golden run! Yay for getting M in so quickly for her op and your payrise.

Clare, your new HOME sounds fantastic. Small kitchens are a pain but it sounds like that is the only downer. I am so glad you finally have somewhere. How is your Oma doing?

MD, I have to admit that I got a little tingle of excitement when the first of the christmas catalogues arrived in the mail yesterday. I am not usually a christmas person but W is at a great age for it now.

Cally, can you please pass on any tips from the library session? Sounds like a good idea, I wonder why hardly anyone wanted to do it?

MP, hope the boys are getting better

Trill, how is the sleeping going?

Ginger, hope everything is going well. So funny about the poor 'whore' lol

Ange, how is your brother getting along? My BIL just stayed for the weekend. He has depression and a few residual brain injury problems. He was actually the best I have seen him in years. He was going to throw in the towel with the uni thing a couple of months ago but finally admitted he can't do as much as he would like and talked to the uni people who have reduced his workload/gets to repeat papers until they are passed. I think he gained a load of confidence in himself by staying and sorting through it rather than giving up and going home again.

Re the resource consent, it is just a few drainage issues. Actually it is because the neighbours were discharging effluent onto our land and the council made them put in new septic systems so they are blaming us for the $20k they had to spend. I can see that would be a burden, but it isn't our fault that their systems were old and not functioning properly. So they are just grasping at any reason for us not to build but I can provide solutions to all their concerns so hopefully it will be o.k.
We are just getting the consents done and then we will try to sell it. Neither of us have any desire to go back down to Southland.

I would like to do the secret santa but I don't think it is fair for someone to have to pay the extra postage to get anything over here.

    Hello lovely ladies!

Noni: woot woo!! that is frikkin' amazing!

MM: and you too! pay rise, WTG! man, you girls rock! have you decided what to get for the christening yet? i also just remebered that for the last christening we went to, we gave the boy a first edition nursery rhyme hardcover book. very pretty, and definitely a keepsake...but maybe not enough time to find for you?

Arte: ahhhh, i see...so basically they are just peeved that their private dumping ground is actually owned by someone else LOL! ah well, sounds like you are in a good position to get it through. got my fingers and toes crossed for you.

MD: i am trying to channel your chrissy excitement LOL! it still hasnt hit me that the end of the year is looming...luckily we have already got many presents for leila (after the big toy sales...). not sure what to get her, but am hoping to adorn the yard with a cubby or maybe a slide thingy.

AFM: well today is halloween day at leila's kindy (her carer is from the US). so i have dressed her up as a fairy/bug thingy. basically whacked her in a tutu with a pair of BRIGHT stripey 'babylegs' and some fairy wings. she reckons she looks pretty spesh. her 'boyfriend' is a tiger...with built in paws!!!!

Um hello Clare, do you have to 'process' having been on hols then moving first?? Before you can mentally come to grips with Christmas!

Noni - Fantastic, congrats, see we said you'd blitz it!!

Arte - they'd picked the wrong people to mess with haven't they?! Bit less exciting for us though now you're not actually going to build anything LOL. Big huge wooohooo for your BIL, what an amazing achievement that he's stuck it out (and asked for the help he needed to do it).

MM you so totally deserve that pay rise - it's great that they appreciate you! Haha pretty funny cos sometimes taking lots of sick leave is a sign that a worker is dissatisfied, a good manager will take action to retain a good staff member - so it's prolly worked in your favour!

Well I have Missy E at home today after FDC lady was struck down with gastro. Soooo hoping the gastro fairy stays at her house .

MD - Oh I hope my boss doesnt think I am unhappy though! I dont think she would, she knows how much I like working and I am a reliable staff member apart from Maddie getting ill all the time. MD hope E doesnt get it, thats one thing we havent had this yr (touch wood) but we've definately had our fair shair of colds.

Clare - What a cool little outfit, bet she looks great. That reminds me M's daycare is doing a hat theme for Melb Cup, nooo idea what to put her in. I sorted the christening pressie thanks anyway! I got a christening certificate holder/scroll thingo & engraved it and also a little ornament thing to be displayed on a shelf in his room. Also a book of bible stories lol.

Noni - Thats great news, yayyy so happy for you! Well done!

Arte - Good news on your BIL. Wow so I guess you dont talk to your neighbours, such a shame that they are being like this.

Girls just want a bit of daycare advice. Wednesday after daycare M woke with a runny nose, Thurs it was worse again & she sounded chesty, today she is coughing/running nose/the works. She just spent two wks away & apart from getting over her last illness she was 100% healthy. Another wk at daycare and its downhill again. Is it normal for kids to get sick this often from daycare? I am just starting to get a bit fed up, I know kids get sick, but do they get sick every week? I am very close to calling & asking what their hygiene policies are - do you think this sounds like I'm looking for someone to blame & being a bit extreme? I dont know girls, be honest with me. I really dont want to have to call them but I am starting to wonder if this is normal. The worst part is last visit to the dr her ears were fluidy, the dr said next cold she will probably get an earache again. Forgot to add, she is a healthy eater, chows down the veges and fruit really well & I make sure she has a vit c tablet every day.

H, dont' forget that she isn't really 100% well while her ears are like they are. It if were one of my kids and they were really prone to getting every bug going around, I would be keeping her home between now and having her grommets put in because if she's not 100% well at the time they wont be able to do it because she will need to have a general anaesthetic to have it done. Go to a good health food store, get her some probiotics to boost her immunity and see how she goes.

Didnt think of that Trill. Yes I really should be keeping her home...god, how though? I dont have anyone who can look after her & I think if I were to take the next 2 wks off I would really lose my job. This sucks!!!!

MM: i was thinking along similar lines to sherie, that it is prolly the fact that she is a bit worn down immune wise from the ears...oooh and really hard when stuck in this position (been there!). how sick do you think she is? because seriously, Leila does get a runny nose ALOT from kindy (assumption here LOL!). i guess i would weigh it up, and if she is still her normal self in that she is eating, playing, sleeping normally then i would *think* that kindy would be AOK. just tell the girls that look after her to keep an extra eye on her and if she looks like she is fading, to give you a call. that would be my plan of action...

MD: yeah, think you are right. been so busy that we just havent had a chance to scratch ourselves, let alone think about the christmas festivities...give me a week and i'll get there LOL!
has missy e avoided the gastro bug??

AFM: all good here. DH and i went hard at the unpacking today and we *almost* have a functioning household! starting to take shape. am happy because Leila was really starting to show signs of being a bit frazzled what with the lack of consistent space and toy availability. now the majority of her gear is in place, i just need to put up the wall decals i bought in italy and i reckon her room is done! it is MASSIVE!!! just love it.

Well I'm hoping we've escaped the gastro thing. FDC lady just rang tho and her DD has just late today come down with it so I'm hoping that means if Missy E was going to get it we would know by now?? Keep your fingies crossed for us!

MM try not to fret...in an ideal world but you have to do what you have to do. I think the probiotic idea is a fantastic one, worth throwing some multivitamins and fresh juices at her in the meantime.

Clare, woohoo on your almost functioning household, you're probably ahead of us there! LOL

Well after all my pre christmas excitement, I didn't enter the secret santa after all. Decided I really have more than enough to keep me busy in the month before BB-Day. Going to try to knock over the Chrissy shopping this week anyway though.

    Morning Hot Mumma's

MM- So glad M is getting grommets you will notice the difference in her.
Clare- Happy for you that you are all moved in.
Art- Bummer on the meat insurance would have been nice if they pay what it would cost you if you bought it today.

AFM: Well were do I start .... saturday was pretty expensive day in our household... firstly the day started out with DH putting the iron on to iron his cloths then the boys knocked it over and it landed on the carpet and burnt the carpet and the carpet burnt onto the iron so had to buy a new Iron thankfully noone got hurt and will replace carpet later on as its only a iron mark. Then in the afternoon DH was mowing and a rock hit the window and smashed it so had to get the window man out to replace it sat night. Now they have to come back today and put the tinted glass in as he didnt have it sat night.... Gosh what a weekend. Kids are all good and having a meet up today with Kate and Jazmum so very excited about that...

    Have a wonderful day girls

cooee leanne! i guess even houses have 'bad hair days' LOL! so lucky that the iron didnt catch fire! we also had a lovely iron imprint on our carpet at the old house thanks to MIL...

MD: yeah me too. gave the SS a miss as it is way too hectic for us ATM. and will be an exxy christmas what with all the travel to QLD and the like. not really looking forward to the logistics of that i must say!

AFM: Well after being 'wonderwoman' all week and getting the majority of the work done by myself, i had a *minor* meltdown last night. just way too tired and way too stressed. not helped by DH auto-inviting 3 of our neighbours to dinner at 6pm for a 7pm start!!! managed to burl out a tomato pasta, apricot chicken with steamed beans and mango chutney as a side and dessert. it was really fun and all, but the combo of a big week, a bit of wine and i just crumbled later in the night. so DH and I have taken leila to kindy and we are having a chill day at home and might go see a movie. need to recuperate!

Clare - your place sounds so great, are you going to put some photos up? PLEASE!!!!

Leanne - enjoy your meetup!! Lucky ducks

Secret Santa - not doing it, I always struggle to think of things for stuff like that.

MD - hope the gastro fairy has kept away.

Noni - woohoo on your job, awesome news!!

MM - well done on the payrise

Arte - main tips from the library session were how important communication is with children. Keep talking to them and doing lots of reading. When reading, try and relate things back to their lives. One tip I liked which I might try is to make up cards of a sentence from their favourite book and talk about the words and the order they go in.

On a similar vein how are kiddies at understanding letters etc? Everytime K sees M or D she points and says Mummy, Daddy. She also know I (for her cousin Issie) and K for Katie plus a few more.

DH and I had our first night back in the same bed after 10 nights apart on DD molar duty in the spare room. I only had to go and check on her once and that was because she'd fallen out of bed (yay for low toddler beds).

We have a housecleaner coming around tonight to have a look around and she can start on Wednesday!!! She is the mum of one of DH's students (didn't realise until I spoke to her today). His response was 'how embarrassing, what are you expecting her to do?'. I said I'd clean K's streak marks off the toilet, but pretty much everything else she can do. I just can't wait to be able to come home to a clean place. This weekend I was getting my hair cut on Sat morning and then DH had cricket Sat afternoon and all day Sunday. By the time I did the washing and got dinner ready, there was no time to do any housecleaning so the place is a mess. Unfortunately, that is a standard weekend for us!
