hi girls!

G: the terry towelling pants are the daggiest things this side of the planet. but basically they are just a padded undie ITMS. i remember them when i was 2-3 years old...i had cream and green coloured ones...ahh the 80s...

i *think* the concept is that they just 'hold' an oopsie in place without oozing too quickly so you have time to clean up...

MP: how did J go last night?

Arte: ROFL....ewww the descriptions of his nappy must make the nappy change session all the more 'visual' LOL!

Kate: mwah, nothing like a newborn to make us all old clucky chooks i reckon!
i reckon if you like the centre and you think S would like it, then you might as well put her name down. if and when it comes to an offer of a place, then you can reassess i reckon. hey, i probably totally missed all this with me being away, BUT how are the fires going up there? i heard they were near bundy? what about gladrock?!

Rainy: LOL! that is soo cute that the boys were having a blast...and yes, do tell, what did Big J think of the hairdo??

AFM: been busy packing, cooking, cleaning etc. DH it appears has gone on jetlag holiday...:rolleyes:. totally unimpressed. i think he *forgot* that i was also on the plane back...
told him to shove it last night as there i was busy packing all the boxes of our study and doing a FAB job, when he walks in and goes: 'do you really have to stickytape the boxes up?' (as in, he didnt want me to close the boxes...who knows why...). totally went ape at him LOL! men are sooooo good at sticking their foot in it, i tell ya what.

havnt been on in soooo long!!
things are going well here, W is now 5.6kgs and doing really well, above average for his weight and looking nice and healthy! cant believe how fast hes growing!
Ashas doing really well with the toilet training shes not having many accidents at home anymore and will go to the toilet with me when shes out she just wont go for others ie my mum or her daycare so i keep her in pull ups at those times and ask them to ask her if she wants to go but not to push if she says no.. coz i sent her to daycare in undies a few times and she ended up crying when they put her on the toilet, dont think shes emotionally ready to do it with other people yet which is fine too just trying to stay rather relaxed about it..
so this is what weve been doing.. undies, to start off with its a good idea to get training undies, they catch more of the mess but they feel just as wet as they would in regular undies, u can get them from big w in packs of 3 for about $7 and they come in different sizes, theyre around the other tt stuff in the store not with the regular undies.. asha probably has about 10 pairs, when they start u need lots of pairs coz there will be lots of accidents.. we started by putting asha on the potty every half hour or so as long as she was willing and just praising her for sitting there, everytime she had an accident we would get her to go and sit on the potty and let her know thats where wee or poo went.. it didnt take too long for her to catch on and she started to go to the potty when she needed to go, there were lots of accidents right next to it or shed stand up in the middle of going lol.. anytime she went and did something in the potty there was a huge deal made about it.. heaps of prasie. i also drew up a star chart my first one was 7 clouds, then flowers, then butterflies with the names of the days on them and any time she went she would get a small chocolate as well as get to put a star on the chart, we are still doing this now.. whenever i get her to sit i always say something like "come on wee wee" to re inforce what i want her to do and if she does we sing a little song which she really loves just a made up one "asha weed in the potty, what a good girl" etc etc shes really loving all the extra attention etc thats come with it and shes doing really well with it, like i said having very few accidents and some days without any at all..

Arte - um, boobies. Getting the new one installed on 7 Dec (just in time for a crappy Xmas). Not going to ask to be really perky but I expect the new one will be perkier anyway just because the surgeon won't be able to help himself ROFL. Seriously, the man feels boobies for a living. Then go back 4-6 months later for a tidy up if needed, and that's when they lift/reduce the other boobie to match the new one and make a nipple if needed. Still haven't decided if I'm going to keep my nip on the mast side because it contains breast tissue & there's a tiny risk of recurrence, getting a 2nd opinion to help with the decision. I have moments where I think I'm ok with it and then other times I just start crying at random moments so I guess I just can't wait til it's all behind me and I can get on with living with a thing where my BB should be.

BTW I'm totally with you on being over the pooey nappies, my darling child eats so much and poos in proportion, she far outdoes Missy H on the chunderous nappy factor LOL.

Kate, is that one of those new mega early childhood centres? We've got one a couple of suburbs over and the idea is they integrate all the services parents might need in a one stop shop (ie they have mach clinics and parenting help there too). Good to get on the waiting list now, it gives you choices later on.

Trill you're right she has *no clue* about the raffle, enjoys posting the money in the slot but looks confused every single week when the teacher gives her the ticket LOL. She loved playing with the playdough tho and had the 3 colours squished together in no time at all LOL. BTW I agree totally with everything you have said about TT, we left it a bit longer with DD1 and she TT'd in no time at all.

Ginger - gee Lewis is racking up the lady admirers ;). Yay for the child free time, it's kinda weird the first time isn't it, did you feel like you'd accidently left something behind because your hands/arms were empty LOL? BTW the terry towelling pants are the old-style TT pants - they come in smaller sizes but are a little more absorbent than regular knickers, so kids can still 'feel' the sensations but the pants catch a little more of the accidents than normal undies.

Noni - wow sounds like you're doing everything so well re the TTing. you will soon be rewarded with an accident-free pooey-nappy free zone! :)

Clare - ah what are the chances you're transformed into a screaming harpy at least once before moving day LOL (I would be). Come on L, get your gear together dude, holiday's over!!!

Gosh MD, such a big thing to have to think about at any time :hug: you would think that buy now they would be able to do a prosthetic nipple just so women can have a more realistic breast but without the fear of a repeat situation. but this is the final hurdle you have to jump over hun and the end is almost in sight.

You know, I thought they had taken those terry pants off the market because I wanted those when I TT the girls because they were a lot younger but I could never find them anywhere.

Trill, you can get stick-ons, available in every size and colour imaginable, but they've been known to work loose and surprise unsuspecting bystanders :rofl:. You can have one made surgically (they usually use a bit of tissue from the other breast when they do the lift/matching op) but it's colourless, you have to get the areaola tattoo'd on (which doesn't hurt cos there's no sensation, or so they say). I've seen one chick who had big hippy purple and green flowers tatt'd where the nipples would be LOL so the possibilities are endless. Ah I'll shut up now, I just can't believe it was this time last year when I was moaning about finding out I had gallstones, blissfully unawares that a year later I would be contemplating the wonders of nipple reconstruction :wall:.

I know :hug: but look at how much it's made you grow as a person kwim? Sometimes the worst case senarios are often a blessing in disguise. You've handled this past year with so much dignity and your attitude has been amazing the entire time. ROFL at the escaping nipples though - would make for some interesting conversations I imagine

Hi girls I'm back. Had a really good time in Bali with just DH & I. Spent alot of our time lazing around the pool with books and ****tails. I think lazy holidays are the best, especially when you are a parent lol. However we both missed M like CRAZY this time around, 4 days into our holiday I was ready to go back home to her. It didnt help that we were in a family hotel, surrounded by lovely kids, thinking 'M would love it here'. However we hope to go back next yr & take her along. On the plus side we bought a heap of stuff for her, probably due to our guilt of leaving her behind lol. Having her with me today is so awesome cant stop kissing her!!

3 of my friends have had babies since we have been away!! Congratulations to Katie, Z is just gorgeous. I hope you are getting some sleep in where you can. L looks thrilled with her.

Clare - What a mission at the airport, you poor thing. I would be feeling the same! I think alot of people understand though, there's just the odd few that give you the evil eye & they are mostly people who dont have kids. We had kids around us on both flights & they were hard work for the parents, but everyone around them was so understanding, which helps so much. I hear you on the ttc, I am beginning to get desperate lol. Although I must admit we havent been actively trying since our little mishap, we have just really started this month. So hoping for a positive in a couple of wks but deep down I think it will take longer this time. I hope you have come back from Italy with a little suprise, when can you test? DH & I are both willing the two wks to fly by for us hehehe.

Ange - Sorry to hear about your brother, what a stressful time. Its horrible to see someone you love in that situation when there's not an awful amount that you can do. I hope he is getting the help he needs now, how sad for your parents. I couldnt imagine watching my child going through that, it would be heartbreaking. My little sis has depression & anxiety too, & although not to that extent, everything is a struggle for her & it wears down my parents enormously.

hecitic day today asha fell into the bath this morning!! hate having to have the door open now to the bathroom coz shes toilet training! shed been told a million times already to get out and then she tipped out almost a whole bottle of that baby oil with lavender that ive been putting in the bath for them then as she reached in to get something out of the bath her other hand that was holding her balance slipped on the oil and in she went! there wasnt any water in there but gee did i run down the hallway quick when she screamed!! shes fine tho as far as i could see no lumps or bumps etc ahhh the joys of parenthood!

Considering how long it took us with S, I just don't want the stress of being asked my people if i'm pg yet? Oh, and I'm loving the TT that you implement. I might go with that to start off with. Ginger - I'm so happy that you had a great 'YOU' night! Bubbas name is Dane, named after his deceased grandmother Diane (minus the 'i' of course). He really is a gorgeous looking baby...so can't wait for another one

Clare - Those fires are up around Rockhampton so we've had no repercussions at all. Not even smoke drifting down, the coast breeze keeps us relatively clean as such

MD - The centre is no way at all big, just a normal converted office space (sorta). Haven't heard of those big ones that you're talking about but OMG that would be fantastic!!

MM - Welcome back. I'm so glad you made the best of your trip, and the best thing is that M will be that much older next year and can really enjoy things and get into it all better.

Thanks for the wb girls! I actually dont think M missed us at all, she had too much fun on 'the farm' feeding the chickens and ducks and riding on the tractor. We missed her alot though, next time we will go together.

Clare - Oh no :( I hope it happens soon for you. I was ovulating while we were away so I am keeping my fingers crossed big time.

Noni - Thats scary about A falling into the bath. M has been into the shampoo on many occassions lol, little rascals toddlers are. The toothpaste is unfortunately a big hit.

I took M to the dr this morning just to check that the ear infections had cleared up, & they have, but her ears are still fluidy, as usual. So just waiting for another infection to spring up. The Dr gave me a list of good ENT Dr's to call & make an appt with, all of them are booked out till Feb/March of next yr. However I managed to score a cancellation for next Wed with a Dr that she didnt recommend, but still works at the surgery of the one she highly recommends. So we will go see him next Wed & see what he has to say. Hearing test is next Tuesday. DH will be wishing we had private health when he sees how much the operation will cost us, we will pay to go private as the public waiting list is 12 months.

MD, :hug: I hope the talk with your doctor makes the nipple decision easier. I know how much you wanted to keep it.

MM, good to see you back. Glad you got an early appointment for M's ears, those waiting times are crazy.

Ginger, so happy you got to have a night out by yourself, must have been really refreshing.

Kate, yeah those mega centres are located on site with primary schools that specialise in early childhood stuff too, so parents can do a single drop off.

Noni, sorry I LOL'd at the bath oil part, Missy E got hold of a brand new bottle of (expensive) bath oil happily poured it down the basin (making a huge oily mess in the meantime) after DD1 left the bathroom door open. Glad she wasn't hurt, would've been a shock tho. You might change your mind about bubbas when a few years have passed. Once your two are in primary school (I know, it seems now like it's never gonna happen, but it will) you'll think to yourself, awwww, wouldn't it be nice to have another little snuggly bubba again....;).

V. Unimpressed with DH this morning. He took Missy E to little As this morning so I could have a sleep in and a chill out morning, but then there was some sort of altercation (over a drink bottle) and when he couldn't calm E down he brought her home screaming and crying, thinking he could dump her here (screaming) and go back?! Well I hadn't had my shower and I made Good and Sure it was a long luxurious one before he left.

that is what we had to do when i got the tonsilitis. the public system just couldnt afford to have me so we had to go private. in the end it cost a bit, but not as much as i thought (Considering that my only other experience of a private hospital was when i had a baby and it cost an arm and a leg). the anaesthetist was around 500 and the surgeon around 500. the hospital was the most expensive one off at close to 750 for the night (incl. theatre). hmmm when i lay it out like that it is heaps LOL! (but still cheaper than a having a baby LOL!).

Arte: unfortunately i will have to pack his stuff as i really like it and if i leave it to him it will all get ruined LOL!

AFM: we had our FINAL INSPECTION today!!!!!!!!!!!! omg, the house is AWESOME! full of natural light, ducted heating and cooling (i kinda forgot that one) AND the bit that i thought was rather drab, turns out to have been confused with another house we saw that day!! so the bathroom and kitchen are actually really really nice!!! YIPEEEEEE!!!!! cant wait til tuesday!

leila LOVED playing in the backyard, and i loved that i can see her from the kitchen and not be worried about escape routes :)

LOL Clare that you've seen so many houses they have all blurred together into some big amorphous mental picture! You'll have so much enjoyment rediscovering it all over the next few weeks. Wishing you heaps of energy for the packing process.

Clare, lol at getting the houses mixed up. That is a good bonus for you. When we put in the offer for this place we were trying to assign rooms etc and couldn't even remember how many rooms there were or the layout of the house. We were pleasently surprised when we saw it again.

DH was going to go out hunting this morning but when he went out to the sleepout to get a jacket he startled a burgler! They came in through the garage window and were stealing meat out of the freezer. We recently bought half a cow so it was well stocked. They seem to have gotten away with one load which was about $800 worth of schnitzel, mince, sausages and roasts but DH spooked them before they got all the boxes of steak and the rest of the loose stuff. The guy that did it was from a party next door, the police got him straight away but there is no chance of getting the meat back now (not that I would want it back after it had been goodness knows where). I think our insurance should cover it :crossfingers:

William seems to have been visited by the diarrhea fairy, he went though about 12 nappies yesterday! He has had a few occasions of runny nappies, but never with such frequency/tummy cramps/liquid farts. Poor boy, every time he tries to go to sleep he comes out needing his nappy changed again.

Arte: :o glad that they got scared off and didnt try anything funky!

MD: ROFL!! that is a great photo! and yep, totally know who it is LOL!

AFM: totally annoyed x10 at DH AGAIN today. informs me that he has a soccer game on the day that i am organising and throwing my friends baby shower (this was after yesterday when i told him that it would be cool if he could look after leila for 2 hours while it was on so that i could relax and enjoy...this is a group of friends where they are all first-timers...so a toddler would/could be quite intense IYKWIM. so peeved. then about 30 minutes later (while i am packing, he comes in with a mate and tells me that he is off to get a beer and that he doesnt want leila to come with him...i sent him out to look after her while i packed some boxes....like seriously, WTF?! shot him some daggers and he got it. good man. so they have gone to some courtyard cafe/beer garden place so leila can play and dig in the sandpit while he has a beer and a good time... :rolleyes:

I haven't caught up on all of your 'going's on', but just wanted to pop in and say hi.
Have been busy of late - walking for an hour in the morning after school drop off, and then teaching Hannah to swim in our pool (if freezes my boobenheimers off!!!!!)
As soon as Han goes to sleep (she's back into having a day sleep - 'cause she's knackered!) i try to keep on top of the housework. Gosh I hate cleaning :rolleyes:

I haven't started toilet training yet, as H is just not ready. I'm being pressured by dh to start her, but I just say 'yes dear' and do my own thing :D
She's started throwing wobblies when she can't get her own way. That is mentally tiring.

I have my sisters wedding/baby naming ceremony/nephew's 1st birthday at our place in 3 weeks. I'm starting to panic a little - usually happens when I'm trying to get to sleep at night:rolleyes:

It's World Teachers Day on Friday - so for something special for Jess's teacher, I recorded Jess and 2 of her friends singing on cd. He surfs in his spare time, so i made up some new words to Surfin' Usa. The girls loved hearing their own voices on cd!
I'm thinking of doing something similar for christmas gifts for our family - along with the usual christmas photo of the girls.

Anyway, I will definitely pop back in and read about what's been happening in your lives - miss you guys !!!!!!

Katie- It was so wonderful to meet you and Zoe is so beautiful.

Toilet Training- We are trying.. Day care told mum that on Friday Livi went all day with out any accidents so I was very excited.
Art- OMG you poor luv thats not good glad they got caught though.
MD- you wouldnt beleive it but yesterday we were getting out of my car at the casino and Shannon Noel walked past and my cousin said isnt that guy shannon..lol I told her your close they did the same show together....hahahahahahaha

Well my weekend away was amazing and I enjoyed the time out from the kiddies although I was ringing mum every minute as the boys had temps.... Thankfully they are all ok now....

Girls we have our nephew's christening this coming weekend, and DH & I are the godparents. No idea about any of this christening stuff, however I need gift ideas! Help?????? He is almost two so I cant get like a silver baby rattle etc
Also do you think its inappropriate of me to wear a white dress? I am so low on formal wear I have nothing else to wear. Its a gorgeous summery witchery dress, but white as white can be.

MM- re the toilet training I just put Livi in Undies. The white dress sounds lovley and will be fine. I bought my neice a jewellery box for her christening.

MM, how about one of those silver money boxes? I think you can get trains/aeroplanes etc. Apparently the burgler has been caught stealing meat a few times lol. It is quite common here because we are in a rural area so heaps of people have freezers in outbuildings that have thousands of dollars worth of meat in them (from home kill animals)

hey everyone,
just got very wet walking asha to daycare lol.. thank god i went with the pram that came with a rain cover coz i havnt seen double pram raincovers in the shop before lol..
had a good weekend, just a bit of shopping and then some of dh's family over for dinner, i made jam drop biscuits and chocolate slice during the day and am now wishing i didnt coz i am sitting here with it calling me from the kitchen hahaha!!
alls well with tt here, ashas doing really well, only one accident on the wkend and that was last night while she was eating so cant blame her for being distracted :) school today tho so who knows what will happen there..

mm - we used those training undies at first u can get them in packs of 3 from big w where all the other tt stuff is.. theyre the same as undies just a little more padding so its unlikely poo will slip out onto the floor and its a smaller puddle to clean up if they do a wee, sometimes no puddle if its a small one.. theyre the same as undies in the regard that they will still feel wet.. if u just wanna start slow but u can just put her on the potty or toilet as soon as she gets up in the middle of a nappy change and before she goes to bed.. and ofc praise her heaps if she does anything but sending them between nappy changes as well can be an easy no pressure way to start.. sorry i kinda went on a bit there didnt i lol!

Arte: ah, so that does make sense that a person would try their luck at flogging the meat...still, sounds so bizarre to steal THAT much meat in one go LOL! (that said, DHs Dad had $10k worth of olive oil stolen from their lockup too, crazy stuff).

Oz: ha ha ha! ah fresh air on young babies, works a treat to have them sleep and no doubt the sounds of the waves were also rather soothing.

Jaz: i reckon the cd sounds cool! i am certain the teacher will find it gorgeous too!

it's official: leila is totally in love with a boy from kindy. and he totally loves her back LOL! they are sooo cute together. they hold hands, cuddle and KISS! ha ha ha! and they always run off together and read books or play trucks, leaving the other kids to eat their dust LOL!

Yes, MP and I had coffee (and a super scrummy raspberry / white chocolate / coconut muffin) yesterday. Unfortunately N couldn't come as he was sick and J was coming down with something so she has had to cut her holiday short. Was good to see her though and hoping we can catch up later in the year when she next pops down.

MM - my stock standard christening gift is a lovely cutlery set - I *always* buy the wiltshire kids ones - they have a bunny/ducky/dog/teddy engraved on the handle. I bought one for my DD when she was baptised and they're still going strong, have stayed in lovely condition etc. Because you're also godparents I think it's your job to also buy a really lovely bible stories book or bible (if the family is really christian) but if the family is really more secular find a children's book with stories/blessings etc from many faiths or about guardian angels or whatever your belief is. White dress perfectly appropriate.

Clare our DH's have been excelling lately haven't they LOL. Except mine made up for his sins by coming home and moving all the furniture around after I'd mentioned it *once* only so I'm a very happy wifey now LOL. Good luck with the BIG MOVE - I'm so excited for you (can you tell??)

Guys, I was snooping on FB (clicked on a friend of a few of you - she has a pretty name) and realised that one of her friends is a girl that was in my class at school and is a BB member. I have been stalking around and *think* I know who it is. If I am right she is quite an active member. I suddenly don't feel anonymous.

*winge* ive been applying for jobs lately, to no avail, i havnt worked since i was about 6mths pregnant with asha and it seems thats too long to have been out of work for anyone to want to hire me.. dont get me wrong i love my kids but i feel kinda stuck doing the same thing every day im starting to find it kinda mind numbing and its really getting me down.. ofc we could really use the money too.. ahhh hopefully something will come too, its hard putting so much effort into applications and getting no where :(
lol md all those years in the 2-3 room working in childcare atleast i learnt something haha.. i wouldnt say domestic godess lol u should see my house :( so unmotivated today!

L is back in his big bed tonight, since DH has 2 weeks off work he is on night duty lol. Took him a while to go to sleep tonight so hopefully it gets easier.

I will take all the tips you can offer, must admit I've been following A's progress through your FB updates collecting tips hehe. M knows when she does a wee and poo etc & gets up during nappy changes. Also she sits on the toilet a few times a day wiping. This could mean she is ready right? Sorry I have no idea with TT!!!! Might speak to the daycare girls tomorrow. Where are you applying for jobs? What about a supermarket or department store? Its so hard to get a job isnt it especially when your hrs are a tad limited due to kids

mm - im applying for anything that will suit with the kids eg part time and reasonably close to home.. all my experience is in childcare so thats what im looking for mainly but am looking around for other stuff too admin or retail etc..
generally the readiness signs include, knowing when they are about to or just have done a wee or poo, not liking being wet or dirty, going a reasonable amount of time between bowl or bladder movements.. she dosnt have to be showing all those signs to start tho.. thats great that she sits on the toilet. daycare girls should be able to help you out with wether they think shes ready or not too but with asha shes not going at daycare only with me really but shes getting better (starting to go into the bathroom etc when im not there..) another thing that can be helpful is if u doccument around what times she is going and then sit them on the toilet/potty at that time, then ur more likely to get some kind of result you can prasie.. really depends how u wanna approach it.. with asha i just jumped straight in, putting her in undies and constantly talking about wees and poos going in the potty, redirecting her to the potty when she had an accident and having her sit on the potty when i went to the toilet explaining to her mummy was doing a wee etc. there were alot of accidents but she picked it up quick, weeing in the potty on her first day and having a day without accidents after about 2 weeks (tho this varies shes only had 2 or 3 accident free days in the about 3 weeks ive been doing it but she dosnt have many now) the most important thing is patience coz it can take some kids a while to catch on but once they do it does make life alot easier.. feel free to ask any questions i feel good im finally useful for something lol!
