PMSL Arte! I did the same thing about next week - I have to take Mum to an appt with her surgeon and I had it in my mind that I had to take A because DH was working, but when I actually bothered to look at the calendar I realised that he wasn't working at all.
JM, how long were you and DH planning on staying over there? I don't think you ever said? My SIL's DH used to go there a lot for work - he is a Drill rig sparky and does contract work in the mines but he hasn't been there for nearly 2 years now because he said the money was great but not nearly enough for all the worry you had to have.
So being Friday, I took A to preschool and then went down to my fave coffee shop for cake and coffee while I read the papers. Now I'm at the local library to try to get some study done while I wait for him to finish at 1pm.
Oz :hug:. Such a terrible thing to happen to anyone, and traumatic too for close friends and family. Thinking of you. xxx

Little Jack actually had a heart condition and although things looked positive it seems his little heart just gave out. The slow placenta meant she was having monitoring though.
Oz, I knew he had the heart problem, but I didn't think that he wouldn't survive.
I dont think anyone thought he wouldn't survive.
this is just so sad :( poor wee man, and poor mama...
Oz - I have been thinking of you and Skybie. I dont know how someone could ever recover from such a loss, you would never be quite the same again I would say.
Thanks girls for the advice, it definately is thrush. I got the medications from the chemist so hopefully it clears up. I know now it started with me, putting on nipple cream after feeds, then nipples being put away, hot weather = perfect condition for candida! My poor bubba.
So if Oz is heading to Melb in May, I wonder if I could convince DH to let me go too for a catch up...

I am trying to convince myself to make an appt for L. she is so flat ATM; could be a number of things of course (started kindy, maybe a cold brewing etc), but i do need to alleviate my worries...that said, i dont want to talk about her in front of her: dont want her to think there is anything 'wrong' ITMS...how does one go about that in the GPs office??!

Cass - could you go to the gp without her and tell them issues and then take her in and they can examine and observe without you saying too much about it... Something like a 3yo check up...
It does sou d like you are worried ... Is it physical lackluster stuff or more emotional? She has had bit of chg recently I guess w marta coming in the scene, kinder et. Etc and if these few months have been for yu how it was fornus when j was under 12 months then maybe more of her reality also has changed like more time at home mote Sharing you less energy left for her at the end of the day so all that could affect her too....I did find when I took a day off and spent it w Noah back then or took him out for mummy time in between feeds it made a big diff.... And I guess on the physical sir a dr is best placed to assess but maybe iron levels... Anyway I have no idea but it seems to be a worry for you so I reckon check it out... She seemed fine go me ghe other day by the way so don't readanyting into my coments but go with your gut...
Cass - I wonder like MP if its because alot of your attention is directed at M these days? Its a tricky situation really with not wanting to make too much of a fuss in front of her at the GP. My M is so distracted as soon as we get into the GP's office, looking at the toys. Can you find a way to distract L for a couple of mins so you can get your questions out without her noticing?
MP - I like your mummy time ideas. I really feel bad for M at the moment. I am a grumpy mum towards her, just so darn tired. Last night she had a nightmare and I was so grumpy with her, I just couldnt deal with getting up to both kids. And then my time is mostly directed at baby and feeding her. M and I used to do everything together, she had me for 3 yrs to herself. :(
I am amazed, I just caught a glimpse of something in M's ear as DH was holding her. Grabbed the tweezers, pulled it out and its her grommet! Its absolutely tiny. Cant believe I saw it and wondering if the other has come out without being noticed.
I know I have driven people on BB mad with all my breastfeeding questions and vents lately, but just wondering if you girls can offer some advice. E pretty much feeds well these days, but sometimes we have a dodgy feed where her attachment is off and it hurts me. I had a bit of a bad day today with feeding, as we had a few dodgy feeds and I am sore from the thrush. I'm just wondering if with time does it really get easier as their mouth gets bigger? She just cant seem to open any more than she does and I am just hanging in waiting for her mouth to grow a bit.
Also sometimes she will start with a great latch, no pain etc, then maybe 5-10 mins later she starts to slip right up against the nipple, like she is tired maybe? At this point when it really starts to get uncomfy I have been taking her off and she doesnt make a fuss. Is this ok to do? I know they say to let them come off on their own...

Isadora :hug: Hang in there, it most certainly gets easier as their little mouths get bigger, and also you both get the hang of doing it together. I never had any problems with DD1 coming off, but DD2 was a chronic drifter. I found it easiest to detach and re-attach. Also propping up or holding your BB can help (sometimes they kind of fall out because of the weight) - using a BFing pillow to give you an extra hand, adjusting your posture, or even using a rolled up nappy under your bb to hold it up (never did that but met a lady who did) all can help.
Cass - could you write your concerns down in a note and give it to the doctor, then they are out there, but not verbalized in front of L? Then you and the doc can still talk, but L won't make the connection it is about her?
Isa - I found hte breastfeeding pillow very helpful if you don't have one already.

JM - glad you made it back safely, what a trip! Silly hostess for not realising about the light going off.
LOL MD I had to have a little laugh, trust me I dont have much at all to 'prop up'. In fact the other day my MIL said to me, 'see you dont have to have big boobs to be a good cow' lol I was so offended at the time but can laugh now hehehehe. So I'm glad to know that the 'drifting' is normal for some bubs. I have been detaching and reattaching, sometimes with success, sometimes not. If I have to pull her off I do and just see how she reacts, she is usually pretty content by this time. I have been keeping track of her weight with the health nurse and she is steadily stacking it on. I guess I will just hang in till she grows! :)
hi girls, i had a little BB break and it has done me the world of good tbh.
dh has gone away this weekend though so i've popped back in to catch up with everyone!
isa- don't feel bad at all about asking bfing questions in here, we all know how hard it is at first and are more than happy to help how we can
arte- L is absolutely loving kinder. he runs off and doesn't even say goodbye to me when i drop him off and i can never get him to leave. his teacher is the most awesome earth mumma hippy and he loves her, it's really great to see.
there's been another huge fall-out in my mothers group. nothing to do with me as i have already pulled out of it but one of the girls that i am still close to got really burnt by them yesterday. it's been hard to watch but kinda good for her cos now she can distance herself. feel bad for her though.
when i dropped L at kinder on fri i had to kill about 40mins before picking him up- normally i probably would've come back home and popped onto BB to fill the time but i decided to take myself and J up to the local deli for a coffee. funnily enough i was sitting at a window seat and the lady who i had mentioned in here before that i had wanted to strike up a friendship with walked past and i smiled at her and she came in and sat with me. was really fantastic to get to know her, and probably woul;dn't have happened if i wasn't on a bb break iykwim? so it's been a really good thing :)
Ginger, your mothers group sounds nasty. Glad you are out of it. Hope your friend doesn't feel too bad about it - she still has you and she is better off without them.
Sounds like L was completely ready for kindy! Sounds like you are happy with the one you ended up choosing.

Thanks girls re the bfeeding advice. I feel like a drama queen. My SIL tried to palm off a few tins of nan formula to us last night that she can no longer use on her DD. It tempted me but I totally resisted the urge. If I have formula in the house, all it could take is one bad feed for me, not the strongest person. The only reason I am keeping it up is she is putting on weight, is content and during the day she is feeding every 2.5 - 3 hours with much longer stretches at night. The past few nights I have dream fed her at 9.30ish and she has stretched through to anywhere between 4-6am. Honestly if I had to feed her two hourly I couldnt hack it lol, so she better keep it up!!!!!
What is everyones plans for Sunday? We are having a lazy one I think, waiting for DH and M to wake thinking we might go out for brekky - come on I've been up since 5.30am and been for a morning walk & all haha!!
isa: not sure if it is a growth spurt...argh i dunno! she was sleeping through sooo nicely a couple of weeks back, and now she is starting to wake overnight again :wall: driving me a bit bonkers. but the house is a bit topsy turvy with DHs dad here and all.
for attachment i really have to recommend seeing an osteopath for bubs. it was miraculous for us and saved our BF journey...just a thought as i was totally amazed having never even seen an Osteo or knowing what they do before marta was born lol.
G: that is awesome! you go girl! i love meeting new people. we met a new lot of neigbours yesterday; they had a baby 11 days ago (their 3rd) and wow, they are awesome and lovely :dance: i have been wanting to meet them for ages but being me i am waaay too shy, so totally jumped at the chance when they invited us over :)
Cass, I hope M sleeps better for you. Can you imagine I did the two hourly wake-ups for nearly a year with A (with several months of hourly wake-ups), and even longer with W. I feel tired just thinking of the next baby!
Isadora and Ginger, I am 10 weeks now.
Not sure about finding out the gender. I have a heaps of good condition girl clothes and my cousin is having a girl in May so it would be sort of a waste if I held on to them in case and then had a boy anyway.
And I have a lot of trouble bonding with my babies. Nothing before they are born and then it takes me a long time (months) to bond after they are here. So I am wondering if I knew the gender if I could help myself with the process?
sounds like maybe you should find out the gender Arte! i reckon it may help w bonding if you can picture him/her etc. and then you can get planning more etc. i hope no 3 is abetter sleeper - i also did the 2 hrly wake up with J til about 12-15 months and man it was tough. i dontknow how i got through it and hate to think how i was at work some of the time. he is a lot better now, not perfect but muchbetter and i am like a different person. N was also hard - i remember him waking for up to 3 hrs a time between 12 and 18 mnths (and also did 2 hrly wake ups to 12 months) - so i am thinking i need 3 yrs of good sleep now to feel human again...
had a good weekend, did a house swap w mum on sat night - so slept in til 8 on su8ndsy and went for a walk and bfast with dh before we met the boys at 10.30 in the park!

Arte - Yeah I agree find out the sex. Then you can get all excited knowing what you are having. I was thrilled to know I was having another girl.

Wanted to say while I still remember Ginger I am very impressed with you getting onto the IRL mumma bonding during your away from BB time! Good work. I'm feeling ready for some new IRL friendships too, thinking about taking Missy E to care later one day just so I can drag her along to playgroup as a pretext to meet some other mummas LOL.

Well after a quiet start to the week the arse end is going to be flat out. Tomorrow I have to take mum to Wagga for another appt with her surgeon for a check up, but the bonus of that is I have a DH approved trip to Spotlight on the cards to get curtain fabric for the boys room because their bunks will be here by the end of next week. Then Friday is preschool day so in town all day for that. Saturday we have 2 birthday parties - one at lunchtime at the pool for a little girl that P did little A's with and they are homeschoolers so that opens up a new friendship for her outside of school, then another party for our friend's 1yo DD which is a afternoon/night BBQ, then Sunday is L's 10th birthday!!!!! But we are off to Forbes that day (1.5hrs away) for a little A's regional carnival. And at some point I have to make him a birthday cake LOL. OH and on Monday I have to take Mum to TAFE to so she can enroll in the course she's doing. I need a bex just thinking about all that LOL.
oh MD! that does sound like a shocker way to spend st vals....man. i wont rub in our day lol (not that it was romantic...FILs presence is not really inducive to that kinda thing :rofl:).
and yes, it is getting might close to knowing everyone...there are a few that i dont know, but we still wave etc to eachother. lovely street, cant complain.

all is well here - battling w the double drop offs and pick ups with the boys and also the major guilts that N goes to after care.... he is settling in so well (tells me he loves kinder etc etc) but i am feeling awful about it and a bit 'judged' too iykwim. j is doing beautifully and is really enjoying creche atm so thats a plus...
N has his best friend at kinder which is awesome and they play all day.. she isnt oging on wednesdays though, so will see how today goes (i kinda think it is good, he is so social but this makes him reach out to a few more kids)

had a major incident on sunday. L pulled an electrical cord on a lamp out of the wall socket and snapped the cord and got an electric shock. spent all day at the ER dept with him. he's totally fine, but was insanely scarey. it could have killed him.
going to a baby sale on sunday and selling mountainloads of baby boys clothes :( definitely no more babies around here. may need to get a puppy to compensate :)

The FDC's DD and Missy E are besties and miss each other like crazy when she's not at FDC, so sweet. Sadly, we will not be sending E to the same school she's going to, is that mean?
MD, when she goes to Kinder there will more than likely be other kids she will befriend that she wont go to school with. It was always the way with my lot - who ever they buddied up with at Preschool always ended up going to the catholic school. It's not mean, it just can't be helped sometimes.

Trill - Good luck with all the kids bday parties to attend this weekend - or should I say good luck for dealing with the kids after the sugar intake and full day of running a muck! :) What a full on end of the week you have planned. Thank you for your words of encouragement re breastfeeding, I am getting there!! If only this thrush would PO! I fed her in the middle of coffee club yesterday with my sis by my side, and the amount of smiles and nods I got from all the grandma's was really lovely and encouraging.
MD - Like the girls have said E will make new friends. But it is a hard one, we have just gone through this with M and pulling her out of daycare seeing as I am no longer at work. She had some great little friends there. :( Maybe just keep in touch and have play dates and send a bday party invite etc. And no v day loving or fuss here either lol.
MP - I know that feeling of being judged, feeling a tad that way with the mums at M's new kindy. But who is judging you?
Cass - I wish we had a street like yours, you are very lucky because it seems to be rare to live in a neighbourhood like that. Dont even know our neighbours names here!
I sat in on M's 2.5 hours at kindy today. The things that come out of the mouths of 3 year olds, gosh they are so precious and innocent and so unaware of how hillarious some of their comments are to us adults hehehe. Had a fantastic time and so glad M enjoys it.

Short post from me, feeling pretty average. Miss A was sleeping wriggly and kept me awake until about 3am and then she woke up at 5am! Threw her at DH and went back to bed but I couldn't get back to sleep. So I was tired and therefore sick all day - and I had my exam! Not happy! I am reasonably sure I passed, but I don't think it will be an A.
ETA, MD, sorry you had a craptastic Valentines day. We don't do anything here, but I did drive 20 minutes each way to drop off DH's lunch so he wouldn't be hungry all day so I guess that is something. I hope that it is all sorted now xx
