thanks for the update MD! i was thinking of her recently as we were TTC buddies when we both fell pg with our latest additions. quite a lot of folk with downs have heart issues dont they? i that it will not impact too heavily on her life and busy 1 year old antics
AFM: well ilness gets stranger. now all my joints are seizing up and i cnnot bear weight on m wrists at all. and my neck and the back of the legs feel like they are asleept ITMS. i better call the GP today as it is a bit scary. i cant even pick M up
Hope you got in to the Dr Cass. Could it be Scarlet Fever? It is going around our town atm, was just reading up and it starts as sore throat/aches and can have arthritis like symptoms.
the only time i could get is for tomorrow. it is so not nice. i feel like i am 80 years old hobbling along needing help to get my clothes on and off and lifting stuff up
apparently i have been lovongly infected with a virus that has inflammed my heart and is causing it to freak out. i have been sent home with nurofen and have to be on complete bedrest. cant even lift marta . how on earth am i meant to do that?! have to go back on friday for test results. have been tested for rheumatic something or other amongst the million other things.
so down about it but it does make sense now with the numb tingling arms and hands and tight chest. oh joy.
Cass, that sounds terrible! Is your DH back? I hope they didn't send you home with an inflamed heart, two kids and no one at home to help! Rheumatic fever? Did you have strep throat?
G, how did L go at his appointment?
Beautiful sunny day here. Took your advice and handed out birthday invites - he doesn't really have friends so hopefully some kids want to come to the party anyway. I have invited 11 kids so hoping that 6-8 come. I ended up just inviting most of the boys at kindy because he doesn't really play with anyone in particular and the teachers couldn't name anyone that he is friends with - he tends just to play with an activity and whomever is there at the time iykwim.
G: it is a bit serious. my GP was not happy and told me that the slightest thing could set my heart off. but TBH there's not a great deal that i can do, other than parent from the couch and try my hardest not to exert.
How is L today? i feel for him if it is tonsilitis. poor poppet. hopefully though the ENT can bump him up the list.
Arte: yeah, i guess that is what he is checking for? i had a throat infection that i had ABs for then this happened...
DH is back but doesnt really have much time off. he just went into work but will be there until about 9pm. thankfully dinner is ready and i will just have to bypass kids baths and dress marta on the floor. argh, i am a bit stressed about it all
Cass take care, rheumatic fever is nasty. Did your Dr put you on a course of anti-inflammatories along with the ABs? I think that's fairly important to keep the inflammation down around your joints/heart. It might be worth getting DH to organise a few days of carers leave.
yep, GP has me on a fairly regimented dose of anti inflammatories. they are helping a bit with acute pain but dont seem to help with the tenderness and pins and needles.
bedrest is just too hard. i have been sitting on the couch as much as possible, but when the girls need lunch etc it is impossible as i have to lift M up into the highchair (and boy do you feel it!).
DH has no time off and unfortunately even if he did, his way of dealing with me is to basically ignore me as he is freaking out a bit. so in a way i feel that i now have more to do ITMS....
Arte: woot woo on the getting the invites out! i also had to invite everyone from playgroup as well, i guess i would of just felt bad to leave some kids out ITMS. means alot more organising, but hopefully they will all have a gorgeous time and it will be worth it.
Cass! Forget the highchair - for the next few days the kids eat on a picnic blanket on the lounge floor! Feed them cleanish things like cheese on toast, apples etc that don't leave sauce stains. Who cares if they eat too much junk and watch too much t.v for a few days - their turn to take one for the team. Keep a pile of nappies and a step by the couch so M can half climb up for changes. What other half assed parenting advice can I think of.....skip bath time, don't be afraid to use L as an extendable arm!
You need to look after yourself xx
