Very quiet in here. We finally have a warm (25) day, although there is a bit of a wind. DH is at cricket and Miss K and I are waiting for my sister to pop in (she's down visiting with her friends) and then going for coffee.
Cally: we also had two lovely days! but of course that has presently gone pear-shaped and we are now awaiting winds and hail...oh the joys lol.
Arte: does kindy stop for school holidays? we had Ls dance school have a break for the school holidays and we were all going a bit bonkers toward the end
AFM: well, we are in the land of IL dramas lol. but i am determined to suck it up and put on my Big Girl Undies as DH has it much worse than me. that said, the other day MIL came out with a beauty when she told me that although i looked nice in my dress, it was 2 sizes too small and i really should put on something bigger.
cass- has your mil been hanging around with my mil? that sounds like something she would say. biatch!!!! maybe next time she comments on your dress you should mention to her that you've seen a new anti-wrinkle cream on the market that is supposed to work miracles and that she really should try it
arte- yes it is great to have a date for op but i am super anxious about it. i am worried about leaving j for that long as we are super close (little J that is, not big J) lol. also worried about L of course, but am just hoping it all goes perfectly. the surgeon seems really competent so that has given me more confidence about the whole thing.
cally- it was lovely here today too, but now it has turned and we have a fire going! looks like a few good days this week though

Kindy follows school terms, so still another week to go until it starts again.
I need the Big Girl Undies Went shopping today to get some new pants and I am too big for Size 18! I couldn't find the fat rack so I didn't end up getting anything. Will just have to make do with what I have even though I look like a homeless person. Hoping that the last 5kg from pregnancy will come of reasonably easily (then there is the 5kg from the pregnancy before...)
On the bright side, while we were in Taupo we ran into an old friend we hadn't seen in years! She went to school with DH and was in Brisbane when we were but they moved away and we lost touch about 6 years ago. So nice to catch up with them, even if the kids were being brats!
ETA Ginger, posted at the same time. I am sure that L will fly through surgery with no problems
G: the op will go fine I am sure. and yeah, i guess the contigency really is what to do with J? will his granddad be able to take him during the day?
Arte: oh man, i *hate* going for that first clothes shop after baby. it needs to be done, to get it over with, but then it is wise to hide back in the cave for a few months and lick those flouro-light induced wounds lol. i am still horrified when i catch a glimpse of myself nakie...and that is a year later
G I am sure the op will be fine, thoough i would also of course be worried if it was us! i am sure J will be fine, maybe someone can take him out to do something special? how long will you be away for?

Still school holidays....
We are managing, but W is getting a bit of cabin fever I think. We did the Reading Eggs trial and he is soooo in to it! He loved it so much that I even paid full price for it (which I never do!). We spent about 1.5 hours solid doing it today while the girls were asleep. What he can read now compared to two weeks ago is just amazing - DH watched him do a bit today and he couldn't believe it.
Everything is going so well atm (touch wood). I am actually enjoying being an at home mum - I am busy enough not to be bored, I like the juggling. The kids are all sleeping well - W wakes maybe once in the night and either goes back to bed by himself or I can put him in bed and walk away. DH is sleeping in with A after her first wake up and she sleeps the whole rest of the night. She is actually happy during the day instead of being a constant tantrum and her speech has rapidly taken off. Erin is just amazing! She sleeps!!! She usually has a 2-3 hour nap in the morning, a few smaller naps during the day and then another couple of hours in the evening. I never had that with the others - by this age a long nap was 45 minutes and the rest of the day was 20 minute cat naps. She is covered in pimples atm though and looks a bit terrible. I can't wait to find out who she is, but I want her to stay a sweet tiny baby forever too
W had his 4 year old B4 School check today and when they were doing the eye test the nurse asked what letter she was showing and Amelia piped up with the right letter! I think I might underestimate her a bit.
haha! now that Amelia is feeling more rested she may just take over W with her reading lol!! watch out W!!!! I am so happy to hear that the kids are doing so well with the sleep. it was so shockingly scary for so long, you deserve this lovely, beautiful time with them all xx

AFM: all pretty awful here. the MIL is just unbelievable (although G you can probably imagine what it is like lol). She is just a cranky old thing and thinks it's AOK to put everyone and everything down and then when you crack it (which, considering isnt often...maybe twice) she cries!! (of course, not in front of me, always picks her times alone with DH...). i can't stand emotional blackmail, and that appears to be her modus operandi. such an awful time. i have been really good in holding it together and have been following them around and trying to engage them to do fun things etc. but it is always met with sourness and bigotry, so yesterday i decided to give up (after she had this massive tirade against 'us australians...only in australia' thing about menus...yes, menus! apparently we are stupid because a menu is *meant* to ONLY indicate a complete lunch course...not separate items ). i am serious. she is INSANE lol.
so have told DH to take her out on his own. M and I will have a lovely day at home alone and L is at kindy
That must be so stressful for you to have here there Cass So how long till she flies home again? What does your DH think about all this though? I hope he can see how it is for you. I understand the bigotry too - DH's mother is a shocker!
MP, that sounds really exciting for you! I think we are all at that age now where we consider doing different things instead of just putting up with the same old same old.

4 year old injections today. We got a letter yesterday saying our CCB would be cancelled if it didn't happen in a month, lucky I had it booked in already. Apparently the 4th birthday is the latest they are supposed to happen....
Arte - injections went fine, she had a lolly in each hand, the nurse and doctor coordinated jabs and she giggled during it. Great news on having your friends around the corner.
DD was super exhausted and cranky last night, had a bit of a sleep in today but was still a bit grumpy. Luckily she was spending the afternoon with MIL, didn't have a nap there, so I moved the clock forward 30 minutes to get her to bed earlier. Will see how she is in the morning, might be tempted to do take her for a drive if she doesn't nap tomorrow for everyone's sanity!
Cass, hang in there, MIL will be gone soon and you'll be queen of the castle with no more ogres to bother you LOL.
Arte - how about W with the reading eggs! I haven't looked at that as yet, E is pretty interested in the whole reading/writing thing but they've been doing a bit of jolly phonics stuff at the FDC lady's so if anything I'll steer in that direction. Wow at A piping up her own letter, you might discover she's absorbed all sorts thanks to W's endless quest for explanations LOL.
Cally, yeah, we had that letter too, I haven't done anything about it yet. Excellent trick with the clock!
Trill, good luck with your maths exam! You're near the light at the end of teh tunnel now. I got my mega-essay result back today, 70% = a credit I think. I experienced a mixture of relief, and horror that I could eviscerate myself out of sheer effort squeezing the bloody thing out to the darndest of my abilities and "only" score a credit. The lecturer used the word "satisfactory" quite a lot in her comments pmsl. I've obviously come down in the world since my straight distinction glory days LOL.
MP I'm still amazed there is such a thing as Masters of Wellbeing. It sounds awesome, fingers crossed that you're application is successful.

Well study visit went well, I'm writing the report now but it's short and it doesn't involve any referencing so it's like a clayton's assessment. I feel like i'm nearly on holidays even though I'm back at work. The project I elbowed my way into went live on the web last week, it was very gratifying seeing my crazy idea come to fruition. Missy E had her second kindy day today and she was full of happy chatter about it again so all good on the home front too. Now all I need is for the crosslotto fairy to visit LOL
