...you know what's really spooky...is that I have heard of those glasses MD but it must of been early days as i reckon it was about a year(ish) ago...before LA anyway. i didnt take much notice, but something did register long enough...might need to check 'em out lol.
Arte: i have a feeling that she does need a test for her eyes. she has a slight turn in her left eye and occasionally i have noticed that when she is trying to read that her eyes can water. Considering my crap eyesight it wouldnt surprise me really.
Cass, good idea to get her checked then. So far W has amazing vision - he can read the 1cm big compass and temp by the rear view mirror from the third row in the car. "mum, we are going west, now we have turned south... etc', just 'cos he doesn't have enough to talk about.
I am picking at least one of them are going to end up with glasses though.
Good thing you remembered that workbook Arte! Sleep deprivation makes you forget lots of things. If the sleep delay thing comes up I will quiz the sleep doctor about the amber glasses and find out the real deal.
Cass, that's not spooky, just proof that good ideas are "sticky". LOL. There's an article about them in the latest edition of the Australian Geographic magazine, a copy of which freakishly turned up out of the blue near my desk at work (that was a bit spooky, because it was on the same day that an email came out about sleep awareness week and happened to be a day when I was really, really struggling). They are not cheap, though . Can't imagine the health fund would pay up against them either. Maybe we could pool our funds and buy a single pair and then just post it back and forth, a week about, from vic to sa. Take it in turns to be sane, a week at a time, all through winter .
In NSW they eye check all 4 year olds. I think it's to make sure any issues are picked up before they start school. I got a call the other day because K missed her test at preschool, but we'd taken her to an optometrist anyway.
MD - There was an article in the Canberra Times today about how a lot of sleep issues are related to how we breathe. Apparently we are all breathing too shallow and too much through our mouths. Retraining our breathing patterns apparently has had huge success. (Google Breatheability)
Arte - It's totally fair for you to have a little holiday (kid/husband free) after DH has had his few trips. And Australia would be perfect.
DH is away for a few nights this week. Looking forward to a few nights sleep in a bed to myself without ear plugs. Got plans for pork (he doesn't like) dinners.
Cally, they do 4 year old hearing and vision tests here too - it is a good idea. Hope all is going well with your DH away. DH is going to get himself smothered in his sleep the way he is going!
MD, maybe the health fund would pay for them if they are prescribed by a sleep doctor? Is health fund the same as private health insurance? If you do have narcolepsy, do they still prescribe Ritalin?
DH is taking the big kids camping again over the weekend. Thankfully. W has been really full on lately and I need a break from him! He has no interest topic atm and a bored W = PITA!
Big kids off camping, just me and E at home (and those freaking lambs!). E is just the neatest kid! She is so happy and lovely. She is picking up words quite quickly now, still garbled but I can usually understand what she is trying to say. She is a smart cookie.
Hey Arte, sorry we all left you to have an Arte party (hehe that rhymes) .
She's a smart cookie like her mummy!
Cally I meant to thank you for telling me about that article, I'll take a look at it. Someone else mentioned the breathing thing to me as well. Not sure how well it would work for someone with severe apnoea but any improvement is an improvement, I guess.
Quiet weekend here. Wonder if there's any excitement over at Cass's house...? Wasn't today the original predicted date?
yeah no excitement here yet unless you call being sneezed upon by one really snotty 5 year old as your morning wake up call exciting it was SOOOOOO gross.
Arte: Sounds like you and Miss E had a lovely time flying solo with eachother! Did the big kids also have a great time? how do they go with sleeping etc when they are in a tent?? or is all the wilderness air enough to tucker 'em out good and proper lol?
ah crap, i have forgotten EVERYTHING else from the last page seriously, i am vague as...and will be for the next year at least lol.
AFM: today Miss L was invited to 4 birthday parties busy time of year! we managed to negotiate out of one and 2 are at the SAME venue at the SAME time. i call that a win lol. thankfully it is in a big playground so the kids will all just run around and mingle I guess (well, that is my theory and I am sticking to it lol). unfortunately after that double sugar load we then have another party at the neighbour's house. but i am hoping that Miss M will have a nap in the car and stay home with DH to snooze and join Miss L and I a bit later...busy busy busy...it seems too busy to have a baby today
