Saw the cutest puppy on a rescue group on fb today mamapan. He's awesome! Maybe you need to convince dh harder lol
I hope not too much of a break too Arte - and hope all is OK.
Cass - well you havent been very busy then have you? My kids are back to school tomorrow too, and I agree the holidays went quite fast, even for me who stupidly went oseas for 3 weeks BEFORE the holidays!
Saw a great movie last night Blue Jasmine - the new woody allen one. recommended.
All is well here - DH has just left for a oseas trip for work. so flying solo this week. Also doing my bosses job - so crazy week coming up I am sure. Having a roast at mums tonight which will be a good start to the week.
Cant beieve how the boys are growing up - especially freaked out when I think there is 1 term of prep left. WOW!
I have been trying to convince DH we should get a dog. That mission isn't going so well. was wishing i never brought it up and i could have gotten it for his bday LOL
Saw the cutest puppy on a rescue group on fb today mamapan. He's awesome! Maybe you need to convince dh harder lol
Arte- taking a break is a good thing to do sometimes. Hope you're not away too long though! I'm not as active in here as I used to be, but love to pop back in here occasionally for a catch up.
Arte - hope everything is OK.
Really not much to report here. Back to school this week - already hanging out for next holidays.
Making plans for our 10th wedding anniversary - Jan 2015. Maybe Lord Howe Island for a week.
Cass - when is the big move?
Hi girls - its been quiet in here....
Hope everyone is travelling well. all good here. DH is in china at the moment but home tomorrow :-)
I was offered a big promotion at work whcih is a bit daunting and exciting at the same time. i do think i will do a good job of it though
N lost his first tooth this week (well aside from the one we got pulled) - so grown up. i think the next one will fall out today or tomorrow too. Can you believe they arenearly finished prep? that just freaks me out!
J had an acident at school this week and has his forehaed glued :-( they wanted to stitch it but he wouldnt let them so i hope it turns out ok. poor little man ran to his teacher and fell and split his head on a book shelf. its been a hard week!
my mum has the boys today and i am havung some me time, meant to be at yoga but i got stuck cleaning out the boys wardrobes. i'll head for a walk soon. then day spa and shopping and dinner and drinks with my girlfriends. nice.
Mp - sounds like a good day.
Went to the doctor yesterday and walked out with a prescription for acne as well as a diagnosis of osteoarthritis - both ends of the aging spectrum!
Not much else to report. We are in full on ballet performance mode which is 4 hours each Sunday. We're also doing a special practice this afternoon at one of the other kindy's houses because they really need it - they are all down the front in the final group performance and just looked so confused the poor little things.
I also can't believe they're almost finished kindy. All the orientations are starting for next years group and ours just look so big!
MP, Yay for the promotion! I am sure you will be awesome. Hope J is alright and heals without a scar xx
Cally, did you decide where to go on holiday? Sucks about the Dr appointment!
I am jumping back on for a visit - promised myself no internet until after my exam but DH is away (BIL drama #167), so I am home alone and bored.
Not that I have much to report. Everything just ticks along. It is amazing that 2013 is almost over and our kids have nearly finished a whole year at school already.
Cass, how are you going with the move and with E?
Cally - wow coming up to 10 years?! I suspect we've known you for more than half of that? LOL! I googled Lord Howe - it looks gorgeous, go for it! Bugger on the osteo & acne.Hopefully you will get some results.
MP - congrats on your promotion! You said the last one was going to be daunting and... here you are! LOL. No I *cannot* believe our babies are nearly finished prep. Youch @ J's head, hope it's healing nicely. I had a small LOL at you getting stuck into the wardrobes instead of going to yoga... it's kinda quality time, right?
Arte - so glad you managed to wend your way back!Sorry to hear more BIL dramas. How's the ole study going? That exam must be in your sights by now?
AFM - well no move for now (but not until after there was a three-way mexican staring competition) and DH got his promotion so it looks like that's the carrot that will keep him lining up for his sucky job for another X many years of my life. Apart from that, Little A's has started for the season, miss E blasted her first 500m, and pink lego is still in high rotation in our house.
DD1 has put a carved pumpkin on the doorstep and I have 5 million eyeball lollies to hand out, but I suspect it will mostly be my own DD's ringing the doorbell today. Happy Halloween for anyone doing anything about it!
Hello again, all. I hope everyone's had a nice weekend. DD2 went off to a Little A meet this morning and won a couple of the races - it wouldn't ordinarily happen because there are another couple of fast ones in her home age group. But at this meet, only 1 girl from each club could run in each heat... so she got to win for once. LOL. It's sports day later this week, so we're all prepped now with green t-shirt, socks & shoelaces. Such an unglamorous colour.
Cass, how are the big move plans coming along?
I'm over dancing concert practice. Really over it. It will be 5 days, plus the concert day, all on weekends (and right in the middle of the day, ie 11 - 2). And apparently we're doing a performance at a community event the weekend immediately after the concert which requires a practice on the Saturday as well as the performance on the Sunday. So ends up being 8 days impacted. I'm getting even more cranky about it as I type that!! Grr...
Miss K did a school walkathon on Friday - 3.5km. Was hoping she'd sleep in over the weekend, but no such luck.
MD - We are in the green house too. Bottle green, same as the house I was in at school. You're right, not very glamourous!
I'm also over work - so unmotivated. Probably should be working now....
Cally - you sound pooped! Fwiw my friends dd spent a while doing dancing & calisthenics & they all get crazy in the lead up to performances. Keep on trucking, you will pop out the other side soon. Xxx
I thought y'all had run for the hills...for some reason i have not been getting notifications on this thread????
Thank goodness you are all still here! phew!
*crap, just read back i have missed LOADS!*
MP: always the way: get a moment for yourself and the odd jobs start poking up and beckoning you lol. hope the wardrobes look fabulous and tidy though...i get a real kick out of the (temporary) order of my kids room lol.
ohhh day spa...if only. bring me too!
how's Js head?
and wahoo on the promotion! i wonder if they got wind of your almost move away?? something like that can serve as a quick kick up the bum for those sitting on their laurels taking you for granted.
Cally: whhhaaattt??! how many rehearsals? that is insane! poor Marta has to make do with once a week practice for her dance concert...but hers will be awesomely craptacular hahahaha. please dont tell me that you have to make costumes...i might just feint from the mere thought lol.
Arte: it is awesome-sauce to see you back! i meant to text you the other day...but then wasnt sure if that was stalkerish lol.
i too will be flying solo soon as DH jets off for a fabulous time in the US while i am stuck here...packing the house. i am rotten jealous. he gets to eat tasty taco and i get to cook every meal every day and it will be boring.
MD: oh i used to LOVE little As! i would like to get leila into that once the move is over. i hope that there is one close by.
how many trick or treaters did you get? we had a good haul for our annual street halloween. around 100 kids i reckon. it was pretty fun! Miss L dressed up as a vampire bat witch and Miss M was a witch and Miss E and myself were spiders.
a bit of a Yay for promotion but a bit of a boo for it meaning that you are stuck with sucky job and the hardships that it brings on your family xx now that we will have a massive house in the country you will visit us whenever he is away, 'kay?!
AFM: have begun busily packing. the mere prospect is so daunting, i am so frightened that i wont get it all done in time.
But! i am all enthused for the move (I spent a couple of weeks there in tears at the thought of the big life changes ahead and not wanting to risk it all ITMS) again as we got to see the new house again...ahh bliss! it reminded me of why were doing it and what it represents for our new life. i hope that we get to realise some of those whimsical dreams
Miss E is ONE! Can you believe it?! i am in shock lol! i have spent so much of her first year just in survival mode, that really, i feel i have missed out a bit on the baby part IYKWIM. the fantastic news is though that she has been seizure free for almost 9 weeks! and boy oh boy what a fabulous change in her there has been! she now has energy to play and laugh and chat. it is really, quite confronting now as we reflect on life over the last year of just how not well she really was. we have no answers as to what has been going on with her at all. it has been a very scary place to be, watching her go through it and not knowing what to do and how to help: and simultaneously having the hospital tell you that it is unfortunate but not life threatening and therefore to just go home and suck it up (ie: she'll get over it). i get it, i really do, they deal with really sick kids, but by gosh miss E was not great, one of her worst periods was 72 hours where she had in excess of 80 seizures a day...for three days. it was ugly. but since then (september) we have been home free. the change in her is immeasurable.

Hello Lovelies
Cass, a very big (and belated) Happy Birthday to Miss E!! That is absolutely fantastic news that she is seizure free. That must have been a freaking nightmare to live through. I know things could have been worse, but that little bit of abstract knowledge doesn't help much when something like that is happening in your own family.
How long is your DH away for? Try not to stress about the moving. As long as you have boxes it can all be chucked in on packing day. Believe me, BTDT many times
Cally, that is a massive time commitment! Luckily W isn't overly into any club type activities and I haven't signed A up for dancing yet because she doesn't really follow instructions well enough. But of course, just when she was getting near ready they have announced that the lady won't be coming to town next year and we will either have to skip it or drive 45 minutes each way which I don't see happening for a 30 minute lesson. Perhaps I will sway her to tai kwon do - that will still be here next year.
MD, at least you don't have to moveI don't suppose his promotion came with any better hours/conditions?
AFM, I actually have news!!!! It has been an eventful week - exam done and dusted, tubes all tied and infertility reins supreme (hopefully!!), and the biggest news - WE GOT A DOG!!!!!!!
He is just a little thing, foxy x and I suspect there is some jack russell in there by his body shape/stance. He is called Benny and he is around 1 year old. He is a pound dog that was running out of time. The kids are absolutely thrilled. W has big plans for teaching him tricks, A has such a kind heart and E is full of squashing love. Apparently he came from a house with a few young kids so he is used to the rush of it all. I do have issues with a well loved dog being taken from a caring home because of council fees and fines, but I guess at least he has ended up somewhere good. The cat doesn't seem overly impressed but she has a slight size advantage so I think it will work out.
Oh Arte how awesome is that??!!! the best way to celebrate the 'no more babies' phase...a furbaby!!
I bet the cat is unimpressed![]()
Cass - No. I don't run. Ever. That's the golden rule. LOL. Deffo do the Little A's thing if you can. DH is really getting into it, he's on the committee now, and DD1 goes up there to serve in the canteen as well. I stay at home and enjoy the P&Q instead. We had half a dozen groups of kids come past, that's pretty busy for our street. Everyone loved DD1's jack o' lantern. And good luck with the big move! Deep breaths, babe.
Arte - Hope you're recuperating nicely from the tube-tieing. Well done hanging in there with the study, too. And yay for doggie love! LOL at the cat having a size advantage, not that it matters, every cat knows they are a born leader.
AFM - worn out. DD1 asked me "comb out some tangles" last night. She had FOUR MASSIVE DREADLOCKS that took FIVE HOURS to get out. I was able to salvage most of it but there was a nasty little pixie nest at the end that I had to cut out. have no idea how she let it get that bad (or how she managed to keep it hidden). Bleh. So I feel under-recreated now. Other than that, all is well. E's sports day was postponed (rainy weather) so the green tshirt is still awaiting its maiden voyage.
Ahh, ballet concert all over. Ended up going really well. I think I was just so cranky about it last time because there weren't any of the mums there that weekend that I have been enjoying catching up with.
Arte - oooh, infertility!! We finally got that too, more than 6 months after DH's snip.
MD - wow at the dreadlocks. Had she just been doing the superficial brushing of the top layer? You were patient - I would have cut them out and hoped she'd learn her lesson!
Cally: 6 months??? it took that long to clear after the snip? woah! i had no idea it could take that long
did she have fun at her concert?
MD: 5 hours???? now that is impressive(i dont run ever either. like never ever. actually, i lie, i ran across the road and down the street the other day - to go to the bottle-o lol - and it just felt so wrong and i realised that i need a better bra).
AFM: just dropped DH off at the airportI so wish that i was going with him!
The 6 months was because we average only once a week, plus DH can only really take the test in the school holidays because it's too hard to do during work time. So he might have been fine earlier, but we didn't know. I think he was told it would take about 20 goes for it all to clear.
Yep, she had fun at the concert - especially because 2 of her little friends came back to our place (being the closest) in the hour space we had before the second performance.
