MD, did the T-Fairy end up paying extra for trauma? I hope the grumpy is just a phase at your place. I just got slapped with some 2 year old tantrums from my previously agreeable and lovely Miss E. Not impressed. And to top that off she has decided she isn't going to wee on the toilet any more so she is having multiple accidents (although not really an accident when she is not making any effort!!) each day. I can't bribe nor force her to go so I have no idea what to do.

Cass, what was your protest about? Seems there is a lot to protest about over there lately - you guys really picked a dud government! But then you didn't really have a good choice. You should go into politics - I am sure that people would like to have the option of voting for someone intelligent.
Arte, yes the TF did throw in an extra goldie for the trauma - the lavish sum of THREE WHOLE DOLLARS! lol. And E banked it straight away, she's "saving" her money towards an ipad, she has more savings than DD1 (who gets $$ every fortnight) LOL.
The grumpiness seems to have subsided a bit since DH got home again. It was a really rough absence for E this time. She was in tears a few times at school, bad dreams, the whole works. She's still seems pretty tired. I took her to the dr who looked in her ears, etc, but I'm not fully convinced that she's hearing us properly.
Arte, how's Miss E going with the toilet now? I hope that was a temporary phase. And have you found a house yet? How long until it's action stations for the move?
Still haven't found a house. I have cancelled the movers for now because although we could stay at IL's empty rental, we can't enrol in a school not knowing where we will end up. So at this point the kids and I will be staying up here a bit longer until we can find somewhere to live. There is a house we are close to putting a tender in on but it is on a flood plain and I can't seem to find anyone that will insure it. It isn't near the school I prefer anyway but we do need to live somewhere! Very stressful actually. I like to have a clear plan. My old kindy teacher pointed out the other day that I don't deal well with change - I think she was politely suggesting that wherever W sits on the spectrum that I am not far behind him lol.
The toilet thing is slowly righting again. I hit her where it hurts - she only gets one dress/skirt for the day and if she wee's in it then she has to have.....pants!!! Apparently this is the end of the world, so seems to be working for now lol.
Three bucks!!! W was sadly trying to wiggle his slightly wiggly tooth last night - he knows that tooth fairy cash is so close, yet so far away lol.
Arte, I think anyone would find it stressful staring down the barrel of a move without finding a house to live in!! I wish you good hunting - house hunting - and may it be something lovely right near the best school. I'm glad your toilet strategy is working - that's quite a clever example of using the best leverage, really.
Yeah, I think the TF is getting generous in her dotage. Back in the DD1 day, she used to pay silver, the gold coins were few and far between (and DD1 was pretty much oblivious to the value of cash anyway). Oh how having a teenager in the house changes the scale of economies! We can't be quite so stingy now, H is all cashed up, plus here in SA they have the 10c deposits on cans & bottles, so there's some diligent collecting of recycling going on here. The grandies save all their bottles and cans for my girls too, so while E's still slightly confused about the difference betweens dollars and cents she's getting pretty good at counting them LOL.
I think W was born knowing about the value of money lol. The girls have no idea and you can give them any old coin and they are happy.
We went out to an engagement party last night and heaps of people commented on how well behaved my kids are It is getting so much easier these days. They were so great, there was only one other kid there but they played with her for about 4 hours until E fell asleep and we went home. It was a scottish thing and they didn't even make a scene with all the bag pipery going on. The woman that the party was for was also called E and I spent all day explaining to my E that it wasn't her party but she ended up in tears so I told her it was lol - bonus party for her!
Sorry I have been off the radar as I totally believe that my brain lately is incapable of retaining any train of thought or commitment to a task at hand...blergh!
Arte: that is a super crazy amount of $$ to move. I think our last move was 2.5K. man, when we moved to Fiji (whole house) that cost us 10k! (ok, that was like 10 years ago though lol).
I do like looking for houses though...i am a realestate porn junkie haha.
bahahaha! I love the pant thing lol. I think that i will have to try something similar. Poor Miss M has started wetting her pants. it is so strange! i am thinking that she might be a bit tired and stressed as there have been so many changes lately and she has been quick to meltdown. it really breaks my heart as she is such a happy go lucky kiddo. but yeah, even she is getting worn down with the transition to new kinder and new friends.
OMG! that is so funny about the party lol....in years to come she will recount that really weird party with bagpipes that her mum threw for her
MD: hmm that is a worry about Miss E. Has she had a school nurse visit yet? Miss L had one where they checked her hearing and all that (apparently Miss L told them that she has a hearing problem because I kept telling her that her ears 'must have fallen off' all the time bahahahaha).
Miss L knows that GOLD outshines silver any day lol. she even noticed that the TF didnt cough up as much this last tooth...oops. the darn tooth came out before I realised and I had NOTHING lol. I had to literally scrabble under cushions and carseats and came up with a $1!
AFM: well it has been a hellish few months TBH. the whole family being nasty no0bs and unleashing all their hate at me (yay for me!) and DH getting bogged down with work anxiety and bringing it home and on my front just a general hump that I am needing to make whole new social networks and *stamps foot like a toddler* I dont wanna!! Well, i do, but i just dont want to work for it lol. I have also been in a hump as I am doing a job that is ok, very flexible and all that but isnt in my field and TBH is a bit boring. And then doing all this unpaid work for myself just so i can keep my mind active and occupied. but i feel guilty taking that time of unpaid work off and leaving the girls blah blah blah. not fun!
Miss L is doing slightly better at the school. we had a big chat with the principal and the teacher and they are really on the same page. i just think that culturally they are coming from a different viewpoint regarding children and their capacities for understanding and learning (not bad, just different). we are used a self-directed learning model that was run through the old state school and this is much more class based directed learning. they run an 'integrated learning' program but it is still rigid (but at least gives voice to the kids in the class). I do know that the school is working to implement more self directed learning strategies but there is some obvious resistance within both the parenting and teacher ranks...but even those are lessening as some of the new changes get implemented and they are able to see the results for example.
It's just a bit weird as the kindy and childcares here are just superb and really on the ball in terms of the child and learning. they are streets ahead. and then there is this disjuncture as they head into school. i really feel for the preppies (foundation kids) as it must be such a harsh shock (i am grateful that Miss L had her first year at the old school for example...the transition was seamless).
