hi everyone. Just a quick update before I go to bed. We had a health centre visit today and Amelia has put on 260grams in 7 days and is up 410 from her birth weight so we are very happy here. She is also half a cm taller and her head is 2.5 bigger.
It makes me feel a lot more confident in my feeding abilities seeing the results on the scales. I was worried I wouldn't be able to make her grow with her being so little.
My Amelia is now 60grams heavier than her birth weight :-) Does not sound like much but she did go down to 3810g from 4340 so put on 590g :-) She is now 4400grams (well probably more by now actually) She put on 400g in 10 days. Has to be weighed again Friday to make sure still gaining as I had gone to expressed breast feeding and the occasional formula bottle (she was wanting more than I could produce, plus I was mega sore from expressing at times) I was expressing because she had tongue tie and it was affecting her feeding but we got that snipped and now it don't hurt my nipples so much when she feeds so pretty sure we right now.........weight gain/loss will let us know for sure. I sure she still gaining though :-) Had to take the newborn insert thing out of the car seat today as she looked tooooooo squashed in and had to move the straps up one, she fit in it a few days before, so yep fairly sure she growing :-)

Shadow-yay Amelia!! It sounds like she is going great That is awesome weight gain and if she has already grown out of her newborn insert, wow. Keep up the good work bubba girl.
All is still good here. I can multi task now when I feed so I check fb or read lol. It actually goes quite quickly. I get Amelia weighed again next week I know she is growing though because she feels heavier and just looks bigger. I swear every time I wake up she has grown more.
Hello ladies! Figured I should actually get my butt over here! Don't have time to say much now, we're having a growth spurt at the moment so I have a very fussy girl on my hands. I finally managed to finish writing birth story if anyone wants to read it. Just a warning though, it's pretty long!
Miss Dee I feel for you my DD is going through the same was so clingy yesterday afternoon thank god she settled down last night and we got some sleep. Today she is fussy again every time I put her down to sleep she cries after a few minutes but has no problem sleeping in my arms. I started reading the wonder weeks and it says it happens at 5 weeks pity I havent gotten to the part that tells you how long it lasts.
Hi ladies. Thought I would drop in. Have been reading but haven't had time to write. Sounds like things are going pretty well with everyone. Can't do persies as I am on phone and memory is still bad.
Coop is going well. Having a bit of a growth spurt at the moment and eating every 2-3 hours during the day but sleeping through the night which is good as I am getting some sleep at least. He has some wind problems so we have had to start giving him infants friend before feeds. He is also bottle fed now as he wouldn't feed properly on the boob so I now express and he gets formula as well. Bit of a pain having to express as it is time consuming and would prefer that he would breast feed but he was obviously not feeding properly as he would spend an hour on the boob and then drink 60ml of water (was using water to try and get rid of wind). I was a bit upset and feeling like a terrible mother that I couldn't feed my baby but got over it now cause I have decided I don't care how he is fed now as long as he is getting fed and putting on weight and is happy.
Have our next weigh in on Wednesday so will see then. He put on 700g from his first week weigh in at his 2 week weigh in so was 600g over his birth weight at 2 weeks and had grown 2 cm so we were happy with that.
Better go put coop in his vibrating chair and go and express before he wakes for his next feed.
Hope everything keeps going well for everyone else. Will try and get on computer at some stage and do my birth story and some persies.
Jaxon is at the children's hospital in intensive care.. again. We stayed here last night, thankfully they have some rooms available for parents. The midwife cane to our place for post natal check and told us to bring him here. He was still breathing funny, had a high temp and rash. An Xray showed all the fluid from his lungs has cleared so we are not sure what is happening. His oxygen saturation drops when he is in a deep sleep which is damn scary. This is the hardest thing I have been through in my life. We should be at home enjoying our little man, not praying that he is ok. I'm goingbg to see the hossy psychologist soon. At least we are able to hold him and I can still breastfeed.

Feeding is never easy is it! Kayden is my hardest to feed as well. (feeding for 1hr +) as long as baby is happy and growing.
Lady-Neon, hugs to you. I know it's not easy when your baby is in ICU. Here's hoping he breathing settles soon. My prem had the oxygen desats for his first couple of weeks. (he was in NICU/SCBU for 18 days) most babies get better as they grow.
It's good to talk to Psyc and social worker. I think 'Miracle Babies' have a support group at the hospital as well.

LAdy n - So sorry to hear you had to bring Jaxon back to the hospital. That must be so scary for you. It's good they had a room so you were able to stay. I hope he's home in your arms soon

Annabella has something. Don't know what. They are talking asthma at the moment. I really hope I've not passed mine on to her At night she gets really congested and coughs and burbles and just generally sounds like she's going to stop breathing. Consequently, I'm awake all night listening for her to bubles and have her rattly breath, and if it stops I panic that she's stopped breathing. Rather unsettling. We're looking at getting her admitted for a night or two so they can monitor her over night. No fun. During the day she's perfectly fine though. Wouldn't know there was a thing wrong with her.
Lady N sorry to hear that Jaxon is back in hospital hopefully they can figure out what's going on soon and you can take him home
Dr Tal sorry to hear that your also having a tough time as well. Hopefully you can spend a few nights in hospital and get things sorted out

AFU well DD slept for 6 hours straight last night so I got about 5 and today I really don't know myself. I haven't had such a block of sleep since before being pregnant. Fingers crossed she can continue sleeping for bigger blocks during the night. Anyway feeding has finished so off to do some chores while she sleeps

AFU-we are good. Amelia was very unsettled for about 5 hours last night and I was alone because DH is at work. I finally settled her though and she slept 6.5hrs. It means I had a good sleep but my breasts objected, that's for sure.
Nothing like a cuddle from DD after a hard day's work!

Dr Tal - I'm hoping that your Annabella is all fine and healthy. FWIW- DD makes heaps of sounds too when she sleeps and some weird gasping for air sounds but GP said its all normal. I still get worried though with all the noises she makes
DDB - Glad Amelia finally settled.
Ambersky - CONGRATS ON YOUR NEW BABY!!!!!
AFM - Finally took DD out to the shops today although she refused to sit in the pram so I was pushing the pram while holding her in one arm. She is currently sleeping peacefully on the couch instead of in my arms for once!
CYH nurse came yesterday.
Kayden's constant feeding has paid off, he is now 4kg - 600g more than last weigh in (2weeks ago), and 700g more than birth! He's also approx. 2cm taller as well.

Tal - I too have a really noisy bub who coughs n splutters n gags all night. quite iften its a puke that doesnt come up! no pain from the reflux, but chucky nonetheless.
all going well here, shes growing I can clearly see it....just been slack with gettimg weighed lol. got paed appt tues for the jsundice, however it seems to have cleared. keeping the appt tho cuz jimmy is still quite crosseyed at times, so just seeing when we should be concerned n trying to correct it.
as for my experience with newborns being constipated/having the runs/not pooing....
I don't buy into the norm of bf babies going days without pooing. I think it is common because if diets but I dont believe it is normal. our diets are very interfered with from man made stuff and it all affects the gut whether we see it or not and ideally everyone should be pooing after every meal. that means our gut is working effectively at digesting the food and the poo is waste that isnt building up. it also shouldnt be liquid. both kids here have liquid poo as a result from the dairy n soy I consume. thats the only time we get poo explosions....thats y im often interested n curious when other ppl say their babies did a #3 in the consistancy of it?
as for wind - if u want to figure out if it coincides with ur eating, go back 2-3hrs prior to grunting n pushing. that should be the last feed. then go back 6hrs minimum to the closest meal. thats where the culprit food will be. yep babies have to learn to push n coordinate their bodies but I dont believe it should be painful for them - hard work yes, but not painful. also if that constipation is accompanied by the diarreahea, burned bottom, ezcema, n painful wind then id b questioning ur diet...even if its just short term n especially if its affecting the amount of sleep u both get. ds had all of the above plus he would go 14hrs a day with minimal sleep n scream at night.
jimmy.thankfully inly goes a few hrs without sleeping if she has a tummy ache n I haven't consumed huge quantities of culprit food for screaming or ezcema but I get the rest.
so yeh....take what u want from that I don't mind, but thats my experience and its pretty similar to many other allergy mums ive spoken to, and most naturopaths would agree.,my naturopath is a qualified midwife n nurse too n its her experience.
