windows 8 doesn't have a start button (menu) like others and there is nothing in power setting for when you open lid, only for when you close it.
shutdown you have to hover in top right corner till a menu drops down then go into settings (i think......its turned off now so cant double check) then select power then shutdown

Hello everyone. Sorry I am so slack in here. I use fb instead to keep in touch.

Everything is good here. We are all ready for our first Christmas with our princess. I weighed her today at the hospital when we went to visit our friends and their new bub. She is 5.4kg. Up 600 grams from 3 weeks ago I am over the moon about that. It's always nice to see the results. As I mentioned our friends had a bub, a little boy on the 20th. Benji he's so cute.

Hi everyone,

Looks like we've all been pretty slack - or just too busy with other things, like new babies, and Christmas!

Thor and I are doing great, I really feel like DP, Thor and I are a family, now - he is an integral part of our lives, and we wouldn't be without him for anything! He's gooing and gaaing gorgeously, and watching the world constantly, eating erratically and mostly sleeping through the night. We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon yesterday opening presents with his paternal Grandma, from whom DP was previously estranged, and it was wonderful to see the three generations getting along, telling each other they love each other and sharing happy times which will be part of our memories of Thor's first Christmas. Tomorrow we will have a quiet day with just my parents, and then the wider family, including Thor's 8 cousins, will celebrate with Christmas lunch on Boxing Day. I can't wait!

I wish you all a merry, merry Christmas, and I hope that 2013 brings much joy and happiness to your families.

Pholi-that's fantastic that you got to catch up with Thor's grandma. It sounds like you are having a fantastic Christmas so far and Thor sounds like he is really growing up.

Hello everyone else and Merry Christmas to all of you and your families.

AFU-We are really good. Amelia has already got some money off DH's dad because he is working Christmas. DH's grandparents gave her a little backpack with a koala and his great aunt gave her a gorgeous towel with her name embroidered on it. We are going to my mum and dad's for Christmas lunch and Dhs mums for tea so we will be having tea with Amelias cousin too.
I know mum bought bub a stocking with her name on and has filled that and has some other stuff. She has bought her a bracelet with her name on it too. She is so spoiled. We have bought her a few goodies too and cannot wait to give them to her.

We are having lunch with DH's parents tomorrow.

Amelia is getting spoilt though I can't remember everything she is getting, this is what I can remember. A swing (outdoor) a stuffed toy dog that talks (educational thing), a few eating sets (bowls etc) a walker/activity thing (push along) a tupperware shape-o, a doll, a my first christmas book and more (but I can't remember what lol) a lot is for 6 month plus as she has so much stuff for now and not much for later on. She can still play with some of it now anyhow (or I can LOL)

Miss A is kind of mobile she began scooting around backwards while laying on her back last night....not much but she's started. Oh my how they grow up fast.

Dr Tal freezing the seasonal stuff is a great idea think I might start doing some of that especially since I have my own stone fruit trees.

AFU I bought G a dwingler play mat for Christmas and its the best money I've spent. In the past two days she has been crawling around it on her bum and rolling from her stomach onto her back and the reverse. It has certainly freed up some of my time. She is also going to people again so it must have been a stage

Wow, starting solids! I know that it's fine from 4 months, and all, but Thor seems so little still! Having said that, he certainly is showing an interest in anything we eat in his sight, and at his 3-4 month CHN visit, she went through solids with us.

Thor is still only rolling from tummy to back on one direction, and has limited tolerance of it - he'll do it 4 or 5 times and then tire out. But he does seem to move around a bit on the playmat, and I presume it's still pretty accidental. Like everyone else, I'm loving the interaction - gorgeous chuckles and squeals when we tickle him, and lots and lots of talking. This morning he woke us up by talking, really loudly, too, he stopped for 10 minutes to feed when I got him up, then proceeded to talk for another full hour! I love it!

DP is finally back at work, after his 4 months paternity leave. We miss him, but it's kind of nice - I feel like a proper stay at home Mum, now. And we'll have some regular classes - my yoga starts up in February, we'll go to a baby swim class, and we'll continue with Mother's Group, which will become Playgroup in February as soon as our Tuesday morning timeslot opens up at the local centre. DP and I really made the most of his time off, and we have built and filled and planted out 4 raised garden beds, prepared them for retic, and totallly renovated our bathroom to include a bath. Thor is still a little unsure about the bath, but I love being able to have one with him!

Thor had been in a fairly predictable 2 1/2 hour cycle of sleep-feed-play, during the day, and sleeping through the night from 7pm to roughly 6am, until about 3 weeks ago. Then it suddenly became very erratic, with sleeps anywhere between 40 mins and 3 hours during the day, unpredictable appetite on waking, and waking 1-2 times most nights again. The last few days, he seems to be settling back into a sleep-feed-play-feed cycle of about 4 hours, ad the longer sleeps during the day are a godsend for getting things done in the house - but he's still waking once at night, most nights. Hopefully as he settles into this new routine, he'll go back to sleeping through again.

Dr Tal, good thinking re freezing the seasonal stuff - and your comment gotr me thinking - DP is having a major operation in 3 weeks time - a total hip replacement - and I'll be solely in charge of running around for both of them for at least a few weeks, just about when Thor might be starting solids. SO this is one more little thing that I can do to get ourselves ready for that time - freezer meals for us AND freezer meals for Thor.

Oh - one last thing - Thor is such a great name for putting into little songs and rhyming - his latest delight is my version of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. It goes like this:

I'm so glad you're not a toy.

Lol 3 of my 4 have been super clingy babies! Sometimes when they are clingy I'll sit and cuddle for a long while (not always easy to do though).

Sorry I've been MIA for so long. DH has actually taken time off work for Christmas (he never has time off, or even if he does he usually ends up working anyway) so I've taken advantage of it and we've been doing heaps of family stuff.

Terry - both of my two have always been clingy. Brock was okay with other people holding him as long as he could see me, but Annabella can be pretty picky and choosy about who she lets hold her, and it's only a very select few, and again only if she can see me.

Shadow - A scoots along backwards a lot. She also finally has started rolling both ways, and has taken after her brother in rolling to wherever/whatever she wants, which is usually one of the dogs. They aren't super impressed.

Pholi - So glad that T is doing well and that you've really settled into the family life.

C is super clingy too and rather sit and play than let a stranger hold her.

Im really enjoying her now esp with all the interaction. The first two months was hard!!

Hey there girls, Wow these babies are 4 months old already! Where has that time gone?

I've thought about starting Kayden on solids, but since DHs family have so many tummy and digestive issues I figure Kayden is better off waiting, so his system is that bit more mature. Plus I'm a bit lazy and am putting it off as long as possible lol.

Had a good Christmas and New Year's Day, now we have so many toys I think we will have to sort out what old toys to donate to Salvation Army.

Hello everyone. How is the weather where you are? It's been hot here but Amelia is okay with it because of the air conditioner. We are having our 4 month needles on Wednesday and she will be 4 months tomorrow. Where has the time gone? She loves tummy time but does still roll onto her back if she wants something lol. She almost rolled to her tummy from back today. I was laying on the floor with her and she kept rolling to me and giving me kisses. It was very special <3

4 months old today. To celebrate Amelia starting rolling back to tummy and back again. She has started reaching for me too when her daddy has her
