lady_neon – Sorry to hear that J is having issues with his sleeping. Something I heard once is that some babies get separation anxiety when they sleep?? Although that doesn’t necessarily explain why he’s fine for day sleeps but not for night sleeps.

On a completely different note, I notice both of mine won’t go to sleep very easily if at all, if they are hungry. Is J wanting feeds more often? Could he be hungry? I know you said he had bad gas when you started him on solids. What did you try? Perhaps try something different. (just trying to throw things out there)

Sleep deprivation sucks, so I hope you get his sleeping sorted out soon.

    Pholi – what is Ngala?

I’m glad you were able to get T’s sleeping sorted.

terry – It’s hard leaving them isn’t it? I still struggle to leave A and this is week 4 back at work. When do you start back?

Sounds like G is going great guns. A is crawling everywhere too, and into EVERYTHING. DS never got into a thing, so we never really baby proofed with him. A is a different story entirely if she can grab it, mouth it, pull it, kick it, wedge herself under/between it, she does

    Any teeth yet?

AFU – I’ve had a crap week. A’s cough is back has been since Wed. So that’s been keeping me up at night. She had a fever over the weekend, I can’t decide if it’s her teeth moving or a growth spurt. So she was even more restless with that.

Then Sunday was just getting into bed when DS let out an ear piercing scream. And he cried and cried. Finally got him calmed down enough for him to tell me his ear hurt. Had a look at it and there was blood coming out!!!!! So off to the ER at 10:30 at night. FOUR HOURS LATER (because apparently a screaming toddler with blood oozing out if his ear is a 4 on priority scale four being nearly the lowest priority...grrr) we finally saw a doctor.

Mind you this is only after being abused for having Annabella with me, The public hospital here sucks. I hate going there, and I wouldn't have taken DS except for the screaming and blood, that having been said, they did nothing for either. Useless.

And yes, they abused me for having Annabella, but I was half expecting it because they abused me for taking DS in with me when my appendix ruptured when he was 7 weeks. Apparently I should plan when someone is going to be ill enough for the ER and express. I shouldn't bring a baby into ER because they could get sick. Ummmm, she could get sick from someone anywhere u take her, and I'm sure there are as many germs in a shopping centre, or the grocery store as there are there.

I also got the it won't kill her to have formula speech (and I know it wouldn't, but there is also the little problem of her refusing bottles, day care can get her to drink 10-20 ml from a dippy cup, but that's about it.and that's with a lot of perseverance. Oh yeah, and the fact that it’s 10:30 at night! WHERE IN HELL AM I SUPPOSE TO BUY FORMULA AT THAT TIME OF NIGHT?!?!?! I Breastfeed. I don’t have formula at home to just make up whenever) but way to support breast feeding. And then I got the, if she gets hungry enough she'll eat what she's given lecture. I ended up giving a few lectures is my own. I was seeing red.

Then, no one could understand why I was so angry!

So doctor asks what the problem is. I say blood in my toddlers ear. He asks if he has a fever. I say no. Asks what else is wrong with him...nothing I've noticed so far. THEN......THEN!!!!! he asks why I brought him into emergency if there is nothing wrong with him. :WTF: . Well I lost it. BECAUSE HE HAS F@#*ING BLOOD COMING OUT OF HIS EAR YOU MORON!!!!!!!! And yes I used those exact words. Have I ever mentioned how much our public hospital here sucks!!!!! Then he looks at me like I have two heads and says. Blood in his ear? You never said he had blood in his ear. Lost it again. Called him several kinds of stupid. That was the first thing I said. That’s what I said to the triage nurse, that’s what I said the second triage nurse at hand over. That is what is on your paper work, and that is the VERY FIRST THING I said when I got in here with you! Finally at 5am (now remember I got to the ER a bit after 10:30pm) he saw an ENT got my poor boy some pain killers and found out he MAY have a ruptured ear drum (because apparently a qualified ENT is not qualified to tell me it definitely is without a second opinion WTF!?!?!?) Then got sent home. No pain relief....nothing. neither panadol or neurophen even dulled the pain for the poor kid. Oh, and the assurance that I'd receive a letter in the mail sometime this week confirming when I'd be able to be seen (within the next 3-5 weeks) for a second opinion. Thanks for N O T H I N G!!!!

So called my gp Monday morning morning. Saw him at 10. Got sent to paed. Saw him by 10:45 and had a referral for the paediatric ENT for Tues. It would have been Monday except he's was in Sydney and didn’t fly back till late Monday night. Got a script for pain relief and finally got my little lad calmed down.

Saw the ENT yesterday and yes, he did in fact have a perforated ear drum….not sure what caused it. The ENT wants to look into it more because he thinks it could be related to his ongoing eye duct problem.

But that was well and truly a rant away from A.

She’s doing great. After being worried because she was refusing to take any weight at all on her legs, I heard DS calling me last night. MUMMY MUMMY WOOK. WOOK (look) My Bella. And there she was standing up holding onto my footstool!

Dr Tal so sorry to hear that you went through all of that. I can't believe the way you were treated and I probably would have lost it at their incompetence too. Great that your own dr etc have sorted it all out. Must say we are lucky in melb with our children's hospital they would rather see a well child rather than a sick one. A sounds like a handful just like little miss G.

AFU well daycare is getting better G is now eating and sleeping more so that makes me happy. She too is crawling all over the place and she thinks she can stand so there I'd a little bit of tumbling going on. Although I've noticed she is getting stronger and is now on her knees. Her first two teeth have finally shot through her gums and last night we had uninterrupted sleep. I'm enjoying all my time with her as I go back to work in six weeks

Dr Tal - oh my goodness what a shocking hospital!! Terrible communication. Honestly don't know why people work as health professionals when they are like that But am glad your own doctor is organised and hope things are improving for your poor little man.

    Yay for teeth Terry!

So, J's sleep is marginally better. Cosleeping definitely helps. But improvement is still needed. The osteopath felt that he had a lot of tension in his neck and head, probably from getting a little stuck in the birth canal during labour, so I'm going back again on Friday for a follow up. She also suggested, for those interested, lavender oil perhaps in the bath water, a drop on their sheets (but not directly where they lay) just to relax and calm, or baby massage using lavender oil. She also mentioned that she has received new research showing that white noise playing in the background is not as helpful as once thought, but womb sounds or general nature sounds such as waves, forest noises etc is much more effective. Anyway, he went down at 7 - not without a fight - and has been asleep for an hour. I'll be STOKED if he makes it to 10pm!

He now has 8, yes EIGHT teeth. Ouch. Top 4 and bottom 4.

Crap, he's just woken BUMMER gotta go x

Eight teeth!! Wow no wonder he is waking! I hope the teething settles & the tension reduces so you all can get more sleep.

Thanks for the reminder about the lavender oil!

Hi girls how is everything going? Sorry I've been gone a while, I'm not on BB much any more. Life is quite busy!
I do get on FB more often as we have relatives interstate & it's easier to stay in touch.

Mr. Kayden had his small ear tag removed on Wednesday. All went well and he is his normal self again. I was a little surprised when he weighed in at 10.950kgs!

Hope all here are doing well.

It’s been a while since I last posted. I’ve been a bit slack.

terry – How is G going at daycare now? Last you posted she was getting better. I imagine she’s settled in nicely now?

I’d imagine you’ve started work by now?

lady_neon – How is J going with his sleep? You were having a heck of a time with it a couple of months ago. I hope he’s doing better for you know and you’re not as sleep deprived as you were.

    Any more teeth yet?

Pholi – How are you and little T going?

Chrispe – I still can’t get over how bit K is! He’s certainly thriving.

AFU – A is crawling all over the place, pulling herself up on everything and anything and climbing (much to my horror) she made it up an entire flight of stairs on her own a couple of weeks ago (I was following behind ready to catch if she slipped). Thankfully at this point in time she’s not showing much interest in standing unaided or walking. I’m more than happy for her to hold off on those for a while.

She LOVES her brother. She smiles all the time, but tends not to giggle too much, but he can ALWAYS get her giggling. She also loves to tease him…already…I can foresee lots of fun for me in the future with that one

She finally has her two bottom teeth, and I think her two top ones are starting to come down.

No talking yet, but she babbles all the time…and growls (I can thank DS and his I’m a tiger RAAARRRRR for that one).

Oh and she waves now. She loves to wave, and it’s SO CUTE.

Hi everyone, I am so sorry I haven't been on. I am used to just conversing with the ladies on fb. How are you all?

We are good here. A has now cut 6 teeth, well I would say officially 5. It looked like all top four were coming at once but the left one came, then middle left and now middle right. We have had a difficult cpl of months sleep wise, waking up a lot overnight and many bleary eyed days, but last week a friend made a suggestion and now I do the same thing every night at the exact same time instead of just going with it. She is mix fed now with a bottle at night, so we have tea, bath and then bed by 8-8:30.

    Hi ladies

Its been a long time since I've been on myself but I have been reading when you ladies post.

I have joined the workforce again and am slowly adjusting to being back. I'm only doing 3 days at the moment and one of those from home so it makes it easier the hard part will come in a few months when I go back full time. G is growing so quickly and I miss her s much when I'm at work she now has 6 teeth and isn't to far off walking I think. So far she walks sideways across the couch coffee tables etc and when she can she moves from one piece of furniture to the other. She is very settled in daycare and enjoys the other children she only goes two days a week and her parents pick her up in the afternoon so she has a great little routine going. We christening her a few weeks ago and now I'm onto planning her 1st birthday cant believe how quickly that's coming around. Any ideas what you girls might be doing for 1st birthdays?

Anyway best I get back onto doing my work..the more I get done here the less I have to do at home

DDB – glat that the routine is working well for you.

Terry – Being back at work sucks doesn’t it? It breaks my heart the three days I have to leave my two. I am suppose to be going back full time in September, but I am going to speak to DH and am hoping I can put it off for another 6 months.

Sounds like little G is up and getting around. Try putting concrete on her feet might slow her down A is off and going too. She’ll walk around with just one hand held now. She’s growing up way too quickly. I really wish I could slow her down.

We haven’t started planning A’s 1st yet, but that is simple because we are waiting to get DS’s 3rd done before me move on to hers. His is in just a couple weeks and then we’ll have to decide what to do for her. We’ll probably just have close friends and family, with some sort of special cake. I have sort of been thinking butterflies, but have yet to discuss it with DH yet.

A still only has two teeth (did I mention the teeth before??) she’s had them for about a month and a half I think. Her top don’t look even close to coming through yet, but it looks like her bottom laterals might be on their way through….???

Another one who has been slack with posting here cause I'm normally on fb! Can you believe we're now around the 9 month mark?! I still feel like I should have a newborn and instead I have a little person who I'm now having to chase after! Arya is doing really well, crawling everywhere and pulling herself up on everything. She's walking quite well if we hold her hands and is able to stand for a few seconds without holding anything. Am I bad for wanting to push her over when she does it? She's still mostly a booby girl and only has a small amount in the way of solids, but she's already letting us know she loves her meat just like her Daddy. We've got 4 teeth (2 top, 2 bottom) and there's a couple more desperately trying to poke through. Arya is saying Dad, woah, and mum...I'm sure there's more words in there but I'm yet to decipher them) and she has the cutest way of waving. DF had 13 weeks off work and we only ended up being home for 11 days! We went to Sydney to visit my family, then to Perth for Oz Comic Con, then back to Adelaide (staying in the city for Oz Comic Con), then back to Sydney for another visit, then to SE Asia for almost 6 weeks (where I got dengue fever - not fun, let me tell you) then back to Sydney to pick up the car we bought from my Dad. We're insane!

Hope everyone is well and I know I keep saying it but I really will try to get on here more often!

Hello ladies, I am another who has been AWOL due to FB.
Terry, it sounds like G is really on the move.
Dr Tal-They are called lateral incisors, you know me and my terms lol. A butterfly theme sounds awesome
Miss Dee-it sounds like Arya is keeping busy.

AFU-A her been refusing breast. She has slowly been doing it since she started solids really. I weight her yesterday and she is now 8.5 kg so up to the 50th percentile from 5th born. She loves her food and seems okay with formula. I am okay with it because she did it herself and I didn't just take it away from her IYKWIM.
She is getting around everywhere crawling. She is so determined, if she can't reach something one way she will go at it another way, sneaky sneaky. We have set up a baby gate to keep her from the hallway and the laundry where our cats stuff is. She claps, waves and says mum, dad, bub, yea, yay and ta. It's so weird, I had a tiny little newborn and now it's like she's a little person lol.
1st bday party is sorted. We are kind of having an elmo theme. We are having an elmo cake but I don't think I will be getting elmo cups and everything.

Hi! I haven't been in here in ages!

So our babies are 9 months old! Who's thinking of number 2 or 3 hahaha we certainly are NOT

Anyway J is still giving us a rough time with sleeping he is marginally better, and naps well during the day but night time is painful. Goes down quite easily (usually feed to sleep) at around 7.30 or 8 but most of the time sleeps 1 or 2 hours before waking again, then fights and ends up between us for the night and wakes twice more to feed.

On a positive note - he has chubbed right up! He's wearing size 0 or 1 depending on the brand. In the last couple days he's started taking some steps!! Teeth 9 & 10 are coming through too. Loves his solids but unfortunately has a sensitive little tummy

    Hi all,

We've all been busy with other things and not staying in touch here, but it's really nice to read how things are going when someone does post, isn't it?

Thor and I are doing pretty well, I guess. He's also pulling to stand and just starting to let go and stand unassisted for a few seconds. He can walk around pushing our dining chairs along the floor, but won't alk holding our hands at all. He's really curious and confident, smiles and laughs a lot, and is usually happy to play alone, in sight of Mum or Dad, for up to an hour at a time, at some stage in the day. He has 7 teeth, and they came through with the first two together, then we had a break fro about 2 months before the next 5 all came through over the course of 2 weeks! He's doing great with solids, and seems to have a very strong internal clock that tells him it's lunch time at 11.30, and dinner time at 5. The reflux hasn't stopped yet - He's been on Losec since 4 months, and every month when the bottle is nearly empty, we go without it for a few days, but all the symptoms come back, and so we fill the next script and keep going for another month.

We go back to hospital as a day patient in about 3 weeks time to do another eg challenge, as part of the egg allergy study. He came up as allergic to egg yolk and white, in tests by the immunologist after he had the reaction to the randomized powder at the last hospital visit, so we've been very careful to avoid egg in any of his foods so far. But they think there's a good chance that he'll be ok wither by 10 months or 12 months, so we're trying again this time with baked egg - I have to make muffins according to a recipe they give, I have to make 12 muffins from the recipe and bring in 2 of them, then he gets fed them 1/8th of a muffin at a time until he gets a reaction (or gets full! I don't think 2 whole muffins would fit in his little tummy!) FX he's ok this time, and we can start to add egg to his diet.

He's still on a mix of boob and formula, and I'm thrilled that the bf has gone so well. I'm pretty casual about it now, and although I still take all the supply boosters (motilium, brewers yeast, fenugreek and blessed thistle), I'm not nearly as stressed about it now, and if he misses a feed, or has literally 20 seconds on each side before getting too distracted and not going back for more, I just let it go.

Sleep-wise, we get 2 naps most days, they're usually 1-2 cycles (40-80 mins) but he definitely does best if he has one 3 cycle sleep and one 2 cycle sleep. it's not worth the stress of trying to resettle him during the day, though, because it rarely works, and it justs wastes too much time. He has a warm bottle of milk followed by boob (if it's me putting him down) and then goes down very dopy, and drops off in his bed, which is great. Night time, he's waking at least once every night, usually twice, and sometimes 3 times a night, but again, unless he's teething, goes back to sleep easily after a boobfeed.

One of the reasons that I'd be ok with him going off the boob is that my cycle still hasn't come back, and I'm ready to start trying again. Two of the Playgroup Mums are pg again - due in Aug and Oct, both of them have August first bubs! That's going to be reeeeeally tough! Up until about 7 months, I was horrified at the idea of falling pregnant again, and felt absolutely that my body was not ready, then all of a sudden, I realised that yes, I was ready, physically at least. But no cycle, so there's no chance anyway, and with DP's low sperm count, even with a cycle and if I were not still using the Mirena, chances are it wouldn't happen. But DP is starting to come around to the idea of a number two, and I think that in a few months, perhaps once Thor turns one, I'll look at getting the mirena out, and see if m cycle returns then. if it doesn't, I'll stop all the BF supplements, and maybe start to reduce the feeds at that point.

    So that's us!
